Autumn would have been very confident that she had done the correct wand movement and that she had spoken the proper incantation; however, when she pointed her wand to the sky above the Ravenclaws’ heads, the only thing her wand would produce was a few dark blue sparks before fizzling out harmlessly.
While Autumn did not seem to be having the best of luck with casting, it would appear she was bound and determined not to be hit by Mars nor Aida. Mars once more tried to make the young Badger dance, but Autumn would glide effortlessly out of the spells way. When Aida attempted to have another barbeque session, Autumn evaded with unmatched grace, almost as if she had known where Aida was going to aim before she had.
Lea turned her wand on Mars and sent her own attempt at making chicken wings. Unfortunately, for Lea, the Wix had zero intention of burning again as they dodged the attempt.
Lightning continued to brood over the Badgers. Above Autumn the clouds crackled and hissed with fiendish intent. While Lea's side seemed to be a bit docile one wouldn't help but worry how long they would stay that way.
The match was getting closer to closing, and if Santario was forced to guess, it looked like Ravenclaw still held the lead, but luck always had a way of changing. It was after all a very fickle creature.

Aida smiled at Mars’s positive reinforcement, yet still failed to land their shot. Frustrated, Aida’s hand squeezed the black wand even harder. Maybe the mage should just relax, as the muscle tension was throwing off their aim? Either way, Aida was not going to back down. They still had every chance to win, and the slow pace of duelling had become everyday to the white-haired mage.

They said to fight fire with fire, and clearly this duel followed that rule, generally with actual fire. However, the saying didn't have to be taken so literally, and when Autumn flinched at the thunderclouds booming above her and Lea, her first instinct was to follow just that phrase. To fight fire with fire.
Unfortunately, the thing about going with your instinct in a moment of panic as lightning flickered above you was that chances were you wouldn't be as composed, precise or careful as usual. In fact, it's fully possible that you would fumble over the words of your spell in a way very unlike yourself. Spellwork was precise, and holding your wand wrong and putting the emphasis in the wrong syllable were surefire ways to mess a spell up.
Autumn groaned silently, only for that groan to turn into a sharp inhale as she saw two wands pointed straight at her through the slowly dissipating smoke. She quickly dodged spells from both, albeit one more gracefully than the other.

It seemed luck had decided no one would succeed this round.
Not that Lea would really be able to tell- smoke still covered the piste, making seeing anything farther than an arm's length away difficult. It was an additional challenge to her aim, with the first challenge being the dodging ability of the eagles. Surely one of these times should have hit, but luck deemed that untrue. At the very least, luck didn't smite the second year with lightning, plus they offered a couple more rounds to turn the tides. Hopefully that would be enough.

English ⋆ ParseltongueIt seemed like nothing was going to happen this round. Mars waited a moment, a breathless second before they ducked, narrowly avoiding a spelling whizzing by their ear.
They straightened up with a sigh of relief. The fog was thick enough that they still couldn't catch much of a view, seeing only the tips of heads or feet. Aida was somewhere to their side—the Hufflepuffs somewhere in front. The gravel crackled under their feet as they shift their stance wide.
They spun their wand into view, blowing on the tip. They locked their eyes forward, wood whipping around their knuckles. Good luck, don't fail me now.

Things were not looking good for the Hufflepuffs. Autumn was lit aflame by Aida, flame was familiar to the Hufflepuffs as a house. Luckily she was able to heal herself to sort of counter the initial damage that she took. Still, it was never fun to literally be on fire. Lea attempted the same spell back at Aida but her aim failed to ring true.
Mars made sure the fog wasn't to go away, their spell filling the duelling piste up once more just as it had started to dissipate. It didn't seem like it would last for long though. The thunder cloud crackled ferociously as it struck Lea. Again, not a pleasant natural phenomena to fall victim to.

Finally some progress seemed to be in the making. The crack of thunder thrilled Aida deep in their bones and, smiling, the white mage raised their arm in preparation for the next round. A little giggle escaped Aida’s lips as their arm swept back in habit, trying to move the long hair that was no longer there behind the mage's thin shoulders.

As much as Autumn enjoyed attack spells, and as much as she enjoyed fire and lightning, there was a time to attack, and a time to heal. She muttered the healing spell under her breath. She wasn't a fan of this, but she also wanted to leave the room conscious and standing. Sacrifices had to be made. She sighed as she felt the spell heal up some of her wounds, and her sigh turned immediately into a gasp as she noticed the spell heading towards her. Maybe if luck had been on her side, she could have dodged it, but luck was decidedly not.
Autumn bit her lip, trying to silence the pained noise threatening to leave her lips. Fire was nice, and a lot of the time, she could shift her focus to her duel and ignore the burning pain, but she had been set on fire one too many times in this duel and she was kind of sick of it. Apparently her body agreed, because the shooting pain where the fire was growing made her want to immediately stop, drop and roll, and maybe cry a little bit.
As she slowly adjusted to try to ignore the pain again, she was immediately met with the smoke around her getting thicker yet again. She saw Lea's wand aimed at Aida seconds before the smoke made the environment dark again, and she waited for some sound of pain, and was instead met with nothing. Autumn inferred that Lea missed, and the idealistic part of her hoped she was wrong. She knew she wasn't, but maybe she could just... hope. Just for now.
Just as Autumn convinced herself that that was it, that all the damage had been done, she heard lightning strike, and flinched. She breathed a sigh of relief when she realised she hadn't been struck, and it turned into a grimace when she realised that Lea had. Ouch.

Could you attack fog?
Sure, one could probably blow it away, but Lea didn't quite know how to do that. And it was starting to get really annoying as she missed once more. This was what- the third time in a row her attacking spells had missed? The flame would disappear within the clouds, unable to catch a hold of anything to burn. And so it died out. But a new blaze was right beside her. Great- Autumn was on fire. The second year winced in reaction, before checking for anymore spells.
Nothing would come from the other side of the piste, but the hufflepuff forgot to look up. Not that she had much of a chance to get out of the way. The lightning struck in a flash, Lea blanking out at the sensation. One moment the girl was standing, the next she was on her knees. But regaining control, the duellist was quick to get back up.

English ⋆ ParseltongueMars breathed in as the thick fog once again filled the piste. It was thinner this time, not as awe-inducing as the round before, but enough to obscure their vision. No spells would be easy fired in this mist.
Suddenly, through the fog, a bright beam of orange broke through. Make that two, actually. Mars let out a rather undignified yelp, ducking out of the way before realizing neither were heading their way. The one headed toward Aida was dodged. The one headed away from Aida hit true.
Mars grinned something maniacal as they watched the flames appear on the other side of the stage. "Nice shot!" they called. 'We have this in the bag,' they wanted to say as well, but it was maybe too early to jinx it. Arrogant over-confidence was for either the first or the last round.
No other spell came. Mars sighed, shoulder relaxing as they flipped their wand up again. What to do now, what to do... a crash of lightning struck through the silence. Mars jumped again, hissing quietly, "F*ck." Seemed their little gamble had paid off. They could smell more than see that it had hit, smoldering away in the smoke.
They righted themselves again and grinned. Not so bad a round, not so bad a round indeed...
