First time on a broom closed

Having been muggle-born Dana never thought she'd be able to fly. She had never thought brooms could be used for something else but cleaning, so naturally it was a shocker when she found herself sitting on a broom, anxius and about to take off. Despite the anxiety there was a lot of excitement in her heart, she looked at the clear blue skies and wondered how it'd feel to fly up there, if she'd like the wind on her face. It was a huge upgrade for her, she never even flew on a muggle plane so moving from the ground as a muggle to a broom as a witch was certainly... different.

Is that concidered a sport? she thought to herself, if it is I might be in trouble... she was never too keen on sports. She was still pretty slim for she kept a healthy diet, but just after a minute of running or one push-up she was panting as if after a marathon.

Lost in thought, the professor sturtled her shouting to take off, so Dana did, the broom was shaking as if to knock Dana over while she was trying her best to hold on.

She lost control of the broom as she yelled, "AGH, please someone HELP ME!"

"Lean back to stop flying!" Verla shouted, hoping the girl wouldn't fall off her broom, she didn't feel like having any one fall on her. But she would have let her any way. When the girl leaned bag, she hovered in the air then touched the ground "it's easy, lean right for right, lean left for left, then lean forward to go straight." Verla explained, hoping that it was easy for her to interpret and do. Her words were never good, especially when she had to use them.

She hoped it wouldn't take long for her to explain, she'd seen her struggling to fly from inside the castle, she'd never ran faster in her life to the outside and help her out. She hoped that she helped save a life, there was nothing better in the world than saving or making life, it was the one gift any person could choose to do. Of course some weren't able to choose whether they wanted to save or make a life, but in the end, it was none of her worries, at least she hoped.

Seeing the girl struggle reminded her of her own trouble of flying, she almost broke her neck.

Dana heard the girl and did as she said. She felt herself gaining controll again and slowing down, landing softly.
That was quite a ride. She thought, still shook from the expirience, a little out of air in her lungs, trying to stay calm.

She saw the same girl who helped her landing, Dana leaped toward her. "It could have ended really bad if it wasn't for you. Thank you so much!" She smiled at her. "I guess that Quiditch isn't for me after all," She laughed, "My name is Dana Ageenko, by the way, what's yours?"

Althogh Dana was really shy, barely talking to anyone before, it was at that moment that she realized that there were some really nice people at this school, and that it was time to come out of her shell.
Once out of her shell in general, Dana was a really friendly person. She was never hated or something like that, but she was never practically loved. She had her friends, though not close enough to actually keep in touch with after moving to Hogwarts, and she had her bullies. She was quite a chatty-cat actually. It was the starting a conversation part she had trouble with.

"I'm Verla, and I'm glad your alright, I almost interrupted a class" Verla giggled. She was glad that she saved her, and that she was alright, it had her worried sick since she didn't have a very good first experience with a broom. It scared her, and she was willing to try out for quidditch, but she didn't know if they were still taking people in. She didn't know how to play, and she figured they'd teach her.

"I never had a very good first experience with a broom, so the feeling is mutual, are you sure your alright though?" Verla asked, just to be sure. She was glad that Dana was okay, she'd never heard of such a name before, besides Dan but that was for men. "Is your name Spanish for something?" She had remembered something her mother had taught her.

"Now Verla, remember, the A stands for feminine, like nina, and e's and o's are masculan, like nino."

"Why do I have to learn this when we're not even Spanish?"

"It doesn't concern you as to why you have to do it, you do it because your mother said so." Her mother snapped at her, angry.

"I'm a little shaken up, but I'll be fine. I didn't even know flying was possible up until a few weeks ago." Dana smiled. Judging by Verla's cloak she was a Hufflepuff, so fat Dana has only spoken to people from her own house.
"Actually my name is Russian, so is my last name." Her family originated in Russia though she was born in England. While her grandmother was still among the living she really liked the bible, she was in fact the one who named her Dana, meaning a judge. How unfitting. Dana always thought. I can never fully judge a person, I'm too indecisive.
"What were those past bad experiences?" Seeing Verla's face fall Dana added, "If you don't mind me asking of course, I mean you're so good at flying now I would have never guessed you were bad at it."

She watched students fly so smoothly and softly and wondered how they were doing it. She knew in theory the best ways and techniques, but it was all in theory, the physical part was harder to execute. Dana didn't feel jealous though. She wasn't interested in Quiditch, and the school was bound to teach her how to fly correctly at some point in the following seven years.
Besides - she was just fine without flying before, it wasn't urgent to start now.
