𝓙udith walked into the Great Hall, and she could not believe her eyes. The hall was the most gorgeous place she was ever able to witness. Candles were flying around, the floor looked as if there wasn't really a roof at all, and the children who were sitting at the table looked happier than ever. She had been so excited for this day, for her very first day at Hogwarts. And tomorrow she would be starting classes and finding her way to becoming a Great Wizard.

She stared at the painting onto the wall while thinking, in which house would she be? Would she be so brave to be a Gryffindor? Or so smart to be a Ravenclaw? So kind to be a Hufflepuff, or so determined for their own path to being a Slytherin? The only one, or well rather something that knew, was that dusty head that was now sorting another first year into their house. As Judith looked back, she could hear someone call her name. She walked up, waiting for her destiny to come.

She was panicking a bit while the hat was on her head, why did it take so long? Did she not belong in a house? She thought about what her mom once said to her. "Whatever tree that enters your path, you will make it flower". When she thought about it, she realised that the quote didn't make any sense at all? And as she laughed about the quote, the sorting hat called out:
RAVENCLAW

As she walked towards her table, proud and full of excitement, she thought about how happy she was to be here, to have the opportunity to become this great being. Being grateful for her great and special life.

Jenna had to keep her jaw from dropping as she looked around the massive hall; she had never seen anything like it. Four long tables stretched across the room, and on them sat children of all ages, chattering among themselves. Candles burned bright and danced around the room and paintings moved in their frames. Jenna could feel the excitement in the air which only added to her nerves - she had always disliked standing in front of a crowd, but she reminded herself that this was something to celebrate. She walked to the front of the hall along with all of the other first years, and the myriad of children stood lined up in front of a stool with an old hat sitting on it.
Once everyone was inside, hushes got passed around and silence swept across the room as the Headmaster stood in the front of the hall. As he spoke, Jenna caught the eye of her brother, Jack, sitting at the Ravenclaw table; he gave her a thumbs up, which made her smile.
Jenna tugged on her black robes as she got to the front. “Jenna Keynes!” Her name echoed across the hall. Jenna took a deep breath and tried to compose herself the best she could. She sat down on the stool and just moments after the hat was placed on her head, without hesitation, it shouted: Gryffindor!
A huge smile grew across Jenna’s face as the Gryffindor table erupted with cheers and clapping. She made her way down the aisle, and a couple of kids moved so she could sit beside them. Her heart was pounding with excitement and full of pride.

VIOLET DUBOIS | 1st YEAR | SLYTHERIN
Well, this was it. Violet was finally at Hogwarts. Much like most other wizarding children, she had been waiting for this day since...basically forever. Violet was relieved she hadn't ended up a squib - especially considering her parents would've disowned her in that case - but now there was one last obstacle to overcome. The Sorting Ceremony. Vio knew she had to get into Slytherin, there was no question about it. Her family came from a long line of Slytherins and her parents would be very disappointed if she ended up elsewhere. Where's your ambition? Your desire to be the greatest? Violet could almost hear her mother's pinched voice, her sunken eyes glaring at her disapprovingly. Sheesh, one would think it wasn't possible to be such a stereotypical Slytherin but her mother would certainly prove them wrong.

She was waiting her turn to get sorted, and although she kept her facial expressions aloof and unreadable, she was internally getting quite nervous. This would be the deciding factor for whether her parents would be pleased with her or not. As she worried over this, she realised her name had finally been called. She walked forward to take her seat, feeling the weight of the hat being placed on her head.

To any observer, it would not have been immediately obvious just how nervous Violet was. The only indicator were knuckles, which were white from how hard she was gripping the edge of the stool. With a stony look on her face, she looked out at the gathered students, waiting for the hat to start talking.

"Hmm, an intelligent mind, that much is clear. A love of learning and natural curiosity." Violet felt her heart drop as the Sorting Hat's thoughts filled her head. Those were Ravenclaw traits - sure, they were true. Violet did love learning and she considered herself smarter than the average person. But there was no way she could end up in Ravenclaw. She had to get Slytherin.

"Don't want Ravenclaw, eh? You want Slytherin?" Violet felt herself become a little startled at the sound of the hat again. It was strange having someone - or something, she supposed - be able to hear all her thoughts. "Well, I certainly see cunning and resourcefulness. And ambition! My, so much ambition! I suppose it must be...

"SLYTHERIN!"

Violet felt herself sigh in relief as the Sorting Hat declared its choice. She had done it, she had been sorted into Slytherin. With a slight smug smirk on her face, she slid off the stool and walked confidently to the Slytherin table. She was right where she belonged.

Yes, this seemed impossible, but now at least Claire was sure this was all real and not a dream.

Claire was nervous yet excited. What house would she be in? Yes, she was a muggle-born , but she had bought books from diagon alley for some information about this world. She knew about the houses and their histories, even if she didn't know , the sorting hat made it quite clear.

Claire nervously walked to the stool and sat down, it seemed like her body was automatically doing things she didn't know she was doing, she was really nervous. She felt the weight of the hat on her head.
"I see.... curosity, an urge to learn.... brave and bold... Ah - kindness and a pure heart... nervous, eh.. ambitious.. difficult case..
She could hear a voice of the hat near her ear.
"just - just don't put me in Slytherin.. I've heard that a lot of... dark wizards are from Slytherin"

She replied, or, rather thought, she somehow knew the hat would analyze her thoughts
"sure?.. hmm.. you need to be sorted between Gryffindor and Hufflepuff... brave telling me your choices... a pure heart, not wanting to belong in a house of dark wizards... ah - I see a lot of kindness.. hardworking.."
said the voice in her ear again.. the hat seemed to be talking ti itself rather than her.. then it shouted

"HUFFLEPUFF!"

A cheer erupted from the Hufflepuff table.. Claire smiled and then joined her fellow Hufflepuff,
she belonged in Hufflepuff.

The ride on the Hogwarts Express went pleasantly, she talked and enjoyed snacks with three other first year girls, but with so many new she quickly got separated from them. While she did find the boat ride relaxing she was too anxious to talk to those she shared the boat with and the whole way into the castle.

Upon entering the great hall her eyes didn't focus on all the students, the Professors or the Headmaster, but the ceiling. She wonder what charms are used to make it like that, how advance they are, is it part of the curriculum. The Headmaster welcomed the first years proceeded to the sorting. Every time a house received a new member, said house table would explode into applause and cheer. It will take some time for her turn, she stare at the charmed ceiling as her fellow first years were sorted, suddenly snapping back to reality when she heard...

"Harmonia Melodius." The Headmaster voiced echoed in the hall.

Suddenly feeling nervous again as she walked and everyone stared at her, she held her head high, her hand clasp loosely in front of her, her back straight, and wore a soft smile. When she got closer to the stool she looked at the headmaster. He looked wise, experience, even majestic and he held a warmth in his eyes. She has seen pictures of previous headmasters like Headmaster Dumbledore, whom look like a fairy tale wizard, while Headmaster Lear look more like kind Monarch. He gave her kind smile, to which she returned before sitting on the stool. Now staring at all the students she held her graceful façade, but their stares made the short girl felt even shorter. Which wasn't helped by the larger shorting hat slipping down and covering most over her face.

"Ahhhh... A Melodius... Haven't had one of you in some time... Russia I see." the Hat said in her head. "Mmmmmmmmmm ambitious and determined...Maybe Slytherin. You would do well there like your father, but..." It trailed off shifting through her head more. "Or maybe your more like your mother... intelligent, wise, creative, and accepting.... yes I know where to put you."

"RAVENCLAW!"

"I believe in the pursuit of your own happiness, so long as it doesn't cost others."

Clair stood in the line of other first years, nervously she looked back at the Slytherin table, the table she guessed that she would sit at for the next seven years, of course she would, her sisters had both landed in that house, so she would to right?
As she looked back at the table full of the Slytherins, she seen her sister, Izabella, or just Izzy as she was called normally, was sitting at the table with a wide grin on her face, she waved at Clair and mouthed "Be a snake!" Clair smiled and waved back, she wasn't to sure that she would make it into the house of Slytherin, She did not feel like she would fit in, but she really wanted to make it into the same house as her sister, to make her sisters happy.
As she waited to be called up she thought about how different her life had become, magic had been in her life for a while, having two older sisters who were witches, one which had been at Hogwarts most of Clair's life, but part of her had never thought she would be magical, the chances were so low, coming from two muggle parents it was very odd to have three magical children, it made Clair wonder if she had Magical people in her past, if her ancestors had had magic running in their blood, it made Clair feel important to know that she had magic in her blood, when she heard her name called out she slowly walked up to the chair, sitting down she caught a glimpse of her sister smiling wide and waving, this view was cut short by the sorting hat, which fell over her eyes, unsure if she could move it she sat there waiting for the hat to call out which house she would land in,
Well well well, what do we have here?
Clair jumped a little as the hat spoke, her sisters had never told her that the hat had spoke!
well I can see that you are friendly, but you also have wit...
The hat paused ,
you seem like you could fit in any house, only in one house do you lack something, no that house won't due, but you also are much like another house
Clair wondered what house she lacked something in, most likely Gryffindor, she did not see herself as brave.
well, I really do think you could fit in any house, which do you want the most?
Clair thought for a moment, Slytherin she thought back, u sure if the hat would know what she meant.
really, you think you'd fit in? I don't think I quite agree, what about Hufflepuff?
Clair felt as if it would be cool to be in the house of the loyal and kind, bug again her sisters would tease her for the rest of her life, please, no, I don't want to be bullied by my Sisters
well, I know just where to put you...
And with that the hat stopped speaking to Clair, and this time addressed the rest of the group, with one word, one that fit Clair perfectly,
RAVENCLAW!
The hat boomed, Clair stood up, and tried to find her sister, spotting her again, Clair seen that Izzy's face was not Happy and her hands were at the table, in a tight ball, anger written itself on Izzy's face, Clair shook the thought away and went to join her new house, she felt like she knew which house she lacked in, and she felt like she knew that she belonged in Ravenclaw, because Ravenclaw was honestly, The best!

Mia follows the hoard of learners, climbing the steps two at a time as they follow the professor to the double doors that would lead them into the Great Hall. Students are chatting excitedly amongst themselves, Mia feels her heart race as they line up infront of a stool, on which the sorting hat lays. She listens to the instructions of the professor.

"When I call your name, please take a seat on the stool, I will place the Sorting hat on your head and it shall place you in the house that you are best suited for."

Mia waits silently as the professor calls out a few of her fellow students names. She wondered in which house she would get sorted, her family has been all over the place. Some have been sorted into Gryffindor, some into Ravenclaw a few of her uncles have been sorted into Slytherin. They all were great wizards and witches.

"Heartlilly, Mia. Please step forward. "

A cold shiver ran down her spine as she heard her name. She swallowed hard and walked forward. She looked at the professor, she nodded for her to sit. She did so and waited. The professor placed the Sorting hat onto her head.

" Mia, stubborn little creature aren't you and yet here you are shivering.

Interesting family history you've got yourself.
"

Mia silently listened to the Sorting hat, wondering where it would place her. She didn't have any idea herself, she hadn't thought of being placed in a spesific house, she knew here parents would be proud either way.

" You are something special you know, any house would benefit from you, however I feel something more... Better be... "
The Sorting hat trailed off before shouting...

" GRYFFINDOR!!! "

The professor took the Sorting hat off of Mia's head. She looked over at the Gryffindor table, applause erupting from the table. She smiled weakly, walked over to their table and took a seat.

Bryn watched excitedly as young wizard after wizard got sorted. When she heard Gryffindor, she chuckled and thought, "The brave, huh? I'm gonna be a Slytherin like my father, and I'll be braver than most Gryffindors combined. Of course, they aren't bad, but my father taught me that some Gryffindors should be in Slytherin, the way they act." She yawned and stretched her arms as she waited for her turn. She didn't dare socialize, for some of the other first years looked like they were about to fall over. She smiled as her name was finally called and stepped forward. The Sorting Hat was placed upon her head, and she heard a voice.
"Hmm... I see some bravery.. ah! But also some ambition... You would do well in Gryffindor..."
Bryn curled her fingers over the stool she was sitting on and thought, "No! I can't be a Gryffindor! I have to be a Slytherin!" At her thought the hat chuckled, and she heard the voice again.
"Hmm...alright then... You don't want to be a Gryffindor? Best make you a..."
Bryn waited nervously as the hat paused. She assumed it was trying to make this is dramatic as possible. Suddenly, the hat yelled out...
"SLYTHERIN!"
Bryn let out a nervous laugh of relief and practically jumped off the stool. She eyed every one of the tables as she walked towards her new house members. They were applauding, and some made space for her to sit. She found an open spot and started whispering introductions to them, letting her nervousness give way to humor. As she talked and listened, she thought, "I'm gonna enjoy this year!"

Some people say they hate books, and that's fine, but books are what define your personality, for you can be whoever you want when your reading a book.

Nataly stood with the other first years and tried to organize her thoughts. Hogwarts was so much more beautiful, that she'd imagined. The old castle beckoned with its mystery. It reminded her of a mentor, that knows far more that she'll ever do, and will gladly share his knowledge with someone worthy. Nata was so exited to study here. She wanted to walk down this ancient hallways, to play in the yard with her friend, to learn everything that she possibly can, to...

"Reeds Natalia"

The Headmaster voice snapped Nataly out of her thoughts. Nata flinched and raised her head. She quickly put herself together, put on a fake smile and walked to the small stool ahead.

Nataly was expecting to get in Hufflepuff. Her mother was one of the badgers and after listening to the Sorting hat's song, Nata was convinced that Hufflepuff suits her the most. She was loyal, wanted to have many true friends and knew how to overcome difficulties. Also Nata realy liked yellow, so Hufflepuff would be perfect for her.

As the the Sorting Hat was placed on her head, she'd already convinced herself to be in this house.

"You're so determined to get in Hufflepuff. Are you sure this is the right choice?"

Of course, Nata wasn't sure. The only things she knew for a fact, she wasn't a Gryffindor.

"Hmm... Griffyndor is not for you, that's true. But I see wisdom and determination. The desire to learn and get recognition.

Nata felt her heart skip a beat. She knew the Sorting hat was never mistaken, but she didn't want to be a Slytherin. She didn't have the ambition and determination to achieve her goals and be part of this House. Nata realised, that she wasn't going to fit with Slytherin.

"Don't want to be a Slytherin? Then I know just a place for you..."

"RAVENCLAW!"

Nata was confused. She didn't know what to feel. She isn't a Hufflepuff. But, does this really matter? The Hat thought, that Rawenclaw suits her and it never makes mistakes. Nataly breathed out, sincerely smiled and went to her table.

When Nata sat down, she already agreed with the Hat. "If it's ment to be, let it be" she thought. And blue actually suits her more, that yellow. Nataly let out a quiet laugh and finally relaxed. It's going to be a great year!
Sorting Ceremony 2021-2022
Scanning her surroundings with caution and curiosity, Aria stood near the crowd of first-years. nervous, and a slight distance away from the others, clearly she had mixed feelings; her curiosity was definitely gripping her. she wanted to ask questions, and yet, that burning desire was chilled by the cold of her fear of talking to others. This was a strange place for her; exciting, but strange. She'd overheard others before on the process of sorting. and wondered what it meant to be in any specific house.. any would work for her, though. There was a doubt in her heart, however. part of her still couldn't believe any and all of this existed. She was a muggle-born. What if she did not fit in, like on her other school? Would it be different here? What if she did have SOME magical talent, but not nearly enough? what if she didn't be-

"Price, Aria."

Her thought was cut short as she was being called. Blinking a few times, she looked around.. right.. she had gotten lost in thought. She began to step up to the Sorting hat, suddenly extremely aware of how she was walking.. to others; she may just have seemed a little nervous, which was to be expected. But to herself, she came across as a bumbling idiot. almost stumbling on the steps as she stepped up towards the seat.

Sitting down, she realized a terrifying thing; all eyes were now on her. Shyly, she looked away, crossing her legs and putting her hands on her thighs. Up close, one could tell she was trembling a little too. Again, things that were likely expected. Still though, she felt extremely elated. Luckily, the oversized hat would slip over her eyes, and give her some peace from the laser-like stares that she could feel burning into her.

"Now what do we have here? A voice sounded in her ears. or.. was it just her head? She did not recall anyone else talking to the students before her.. Her heart sank.. did.. did the others hear this too? "Nervous, are you? Yet you are still here, a sure sign of hidden courage.. ah and yet, I see compassion as well, although that has yet to bloom.. A pensive mind, perhaps even a little too much of so.. and ambition.. no lack of that.. difficult, difficult.. " The hat spoke. She was thinking, herself, in response, unsure if it could hear her. "I.. I don't mind wherever I'm put.. really.. as long.. as long as I can make friends.."

"is that so? Can't say that that is too uncommon.. perhaps Hufflepuff then, unless.. clearly, you have a desire to learn, so Ravenclaw may suit you fine.. and finding people who share your interests is sure to help... Hmm I know where to put you, alright, and that will be..

"RAVENCLAW!"
The voice echoed around the hall. Aria sat there still.. it felt like an age. her heart and breathing paused the entire time, before the hat was lifted. Her face lighting up again as she saw the stares of her fellow students. Did they hear any of what she had said? any of what the hat had told her? She didn't know.. how did any of this even work?

She got off the stool, and walked back to the people she'd been standing with before, nervously.. then realizing that she was meant to sit at the table with her fellow Ravenclaws! Her cheeks lighting up again, she scurried off towards the table, hoping no-one noticed the embarassing display. She'd sit down at the Ravenclaw table, still quite shyly averting other people's gaze. Maybe this was were she was finally going to feel like she fit in?
