I don't dance
Verla walked in, just to look around and see the beauty of the ball room which she'd never seen before, or anything like it before. It was beautiful, and she looked up and around in awe. A few kids were in there, but her anxiety restricted her from speaking to them, since she didn't know them.
She began to hum a country song, and she spun around slowly when she hit her favorite part of it. She sat on a bench by herself. She began to read her book to herself, slightly hiding her face in it. She hoped someone would see her, but she also hoped no one would, and wouldn't try to talk to her. Her anxiety has been getting worse lately. Her dream, getting asked to dance by someone who cared about her, but she knew it was a fantasy dream that would never happen.
It took her a while to gather her thoughts and wrap her head around recent events since she'd gotten here. Though she did hope one day she would find her future husband here, but she was too young to worry about it, she came to terms with this, so she didn't care if she did or didn't. Besides, she couldn't even dance.

I don't dance
Olympia entered the ballroom, seeing only a few kids inside. She had expected at least some of them to be dancing, but none were. Some were in here with their significant others, obviously people older than her. Her gaze wandered a girl with a book in her hand, humming a familiar tune. It was one of her favorite songs.
Building up courage, she went over and sat next to the girl before she could become to entranced in her readings. Taking a breath, she spoke. "I'm Olympia. I'm just warning you now, I'm super awkard in conversations. I either say too much or too little. I just wanted to say hi, and that I really like that song." Olympia could feel her face getting red. It took everything in her not to look away with a wandering gaze. She tried to get a glimpse at the title of the book she was reading, but she couldn't quite see it.
The Ballroom was one of the most extravagant rooms she'd ever seen. It seemed to be made of ice. She'd seen photos of it taken by her siblings during the winter, but never in person of course. At Christmas time, it was described as one of the most beautiful rooms in the castle. She hoped to see it like that soon.

Verla looked at the girl who spoke to her and giggled when she said she was bad in conversations. "That's alright, I am too, I'm Verla, nice to meet you." Verla smiled sweetly when she complimented the song she was humming, she liked the song too, she hoped she'd run into Levi while in here, she didn't care if he didn't but it'd be cute if he did.
Verla was very shy and normally didn't like talking to others, but it only mattered to her to speak when spoken too, and she was by a girl who finally noticed her in the ballroom. Verla smiled at the girl and said "so how do you like Hogwarts?" She asked softly, almost in a whisper. She was already becoming awkward, maybe her new aquantance was rubbing off on her, though she just met her and hadn't said anything awkward yet. "I get awkward when my anxiety kicks in, then I start to write on a piece of paper and people always think I'm a mute, I just don't like speaking some times." Verla shrugged and looked away and down at her knees as she found a bench to sit at, again, even Levi came, she couldn't dance.

"That's alright. I can get pretty bad, too. But I've got a few friends like that, so I'm used to it." Olympia thought for a second. "I really like it here. I miss home, sure, but I think I'll have a good time here. I haven't met anybody rude yet, but I'm sure it will happen eventually." Olympia tucked her hands under her legs, something she did when uncomfortable, after finishing.
She hoped she wasn't interrupting something. Maybe Verla was supposed to meet somebody here... And she'd just pulled her aside. She was sure Verla would say something if that was the truth, but she also didn't know her very well. She wasn't interested in making assumptins quite yet, but she seemed nice enough that she wouldn't just stand and walk off.
"What about you? Do you like it here?" Her eyes kept wandering around the room. Whenever she talked, she had trouble looking people in the eye. She was unsure of what it was, but she was trying. Really. She wanted to look people in the eye while they talked, but no matter how hard she tried, she just couldn't.
"I'm just warning you, depending how long we talk. Sometimes, I sort of like... 'spac out' while I talk. Then I don't remember what I'm talking about. If I do that, just remind me of what I was talking about, if you don't mind. I know when I do it, because that much is obvious. I've gotten enough weird stares in my life." Olympia chuckled, but inside felt sad. She hated it when people stared at her.

Verla nodded "yeah, I like it here. I've met some friends that I absolutely adore. I do that too, space out and day dream, but I will do the same if that happens to me, deal?" Verla hoped she made sense, in some ways, if she didn't, she'd have to explain. Doing the one thing for another if it ever happened. Did that even make sense to her? In a way it did. In a way it didn't.
She shook her head and said "never mind, I'm so dumb I don't know how to use my own words, my mother always tells me this which always brings me down, she normally does now that I'm not a normal child like what she wants, she thinks I'll be too dangerous around my unborn baby sibling so she doesn't want me to come home in a few years until they found out whether the child is like me or not, a half-blood that is." Verla explained.
It was a habit she was beginning to hate, talking about how much her parents hated her, and didn't want her anymore, she decided it was the last time she'd talk about it to a stranger.

Olympia could take the hints Verla was giving, whether they were intentional or not. "Me too. My mother wasn't particularly interested in me. She absolutely adores my sister Ardelle, though. She doesn't really like me, never has, but I've learned to deal." She didn't want to say much about it, because Hogwarts was her escape from her mother.
Hoping to change the subject, she tried to do things that were close to family but better than talking about their parents. "Do you have any siblings?" Of course, Olympia had her many siblings both at home and at Hogwarts.
She's always been close to her siblings. especially Enoch, her twin brother. Enoch and Cordelia were her rock; they kept her on her feet for her entire life. She'd done the same for them. Not so much Russ or Ardelle, her and Grisel weren't that close, but they understood each other well. They would help each other if needed.
Olympia was still looking around the massive room. It seemed to be made of glass, and holly was strung around the edges of the ceiling. She really wished she had her drawing things with her. If she did, she would be sketching the extravagant room while she spoke with Verla.

Verla shook her head politely "no, besides the one that's on the way, well, I havbe a long lost sister named Lilith, but I haven't seen her in a while." Verla sighed slightly. She'd began to regret coming into the ball room, although the girl by her was kind, and stayed by her side as she sat down and they began to communicate, which was the only reason she stayed. Verla's new bowtruckle Lake, was beginning to drift off into sleep again, he was beginning to be more tired lately and she figured he was depressed that he wasn't with his own kind. Verla sighed, it was useless after Oliver, trying to find a new companion who wanted to be hers. Verla excused herself for a moment, walked down to the lake, let him go, and walked back to the ball room.
Verla thought of the games that were going on, though she hadn't taken part in any of them, she wished she had in some of them. Though she didn't have time, and her anxiety and depression prevented her from trying to do anything fun outside of the school, besides talking with friends and aquantances. Which was quite alright with her.

Olympia smiled. "I've got five siblings. There's Cordelia, Grisel, Ardelle, Russ, and Enoch. All of them but Enoch come to Hogwarts." Talking about Enoch made her sad. She missed her twin, but she couldn't see him again until Christmas. It seemed to long of a wait, but she could handle it. Maybe.
Her expression was solemn as she nodded, waiting for Verla to come back. She didn't really talk to others unless she knew them, and Hogwarts was taking her out of her comfort zone. It seemed many witches and wizards here were like that, which made Olympia the one who had to approach first. She hated it, but it had to be done if she wished to not be alone for the next seven years she was here.
While Verla was gone, Olympia ran to the Hufflepuff commons, grabbing her drawing pad and pencils, and ran back to the ballroom. She'd made it back before Verla, which she was pleased about. If she'd been back after Verla, she'd have been extremely embarrassed. The Hufflepuff girl could've thought that Olympia had left, and that she didn't like her. Which wasn't true. She began to make her pencil dance across the paper, sketching the outlines of the room.

Verla smiled as she walked back in with a different bowtruckle, her original one named Oliver. She sat down next to Olympia and took out her sketch book and began to sketch with her. Verla had let Oliver go, but after getting a different one, she wanted to find him again and let Lake go since he wanted to be with his own kind. "I didn't know you liked to draw, I do too, my mother used to say that my drawings were that of a professional, I thought she just said that to help me and my confidence." Verla smiled at her. Oliver did too and said "hewwo!" He remembered how to say hello! She was so proud of him.
She hugged Oliver again as he sat on her and watched her draw the ballroom. As the girls doodled together, Verla smiled and began humming her country song again. She loved the ballroom, then she began to sing a song in her scottish language, Nobel Maiden Fair from the movie Brave. She loved that song, and remembered when she'd seen the movie, she got her mother who used to sing the song to her, and played it for her. Then she sat down next to her daughter and put her in her lap, and they sang it together, exactly like in the movie.

Olympia smiled, enjoying the song Verla was humming. She figured she'd be a very good singer, but she didn't want to pry. When people asked herself to sing, she shied away, turning down the request. She was a very good singer, she just didn't sing for many people. She hated singing for audiences, but that was evident before.
With the outline of the extravagant room finished, she began drawing in the details. It was already close to finished decorating for Christmas, so tinsel and holly hung from the ceiling. Those would be harder for her to draw in, because she couldn't get the finer details. She liked her drawings to be precise, but she would just have to deal with it right now.
It didn't take her long to draw in the holly, and she was quite pleased with how it turned out. Now would be the benches and tables that she was sitting on and the ones across from her and Verla. Those would be easier because now she could be able to draw in the special details like how the wood is beginning to fade from being so old. She wondered how long the benches had been here as her pencil danced across the paper.
