Thankfully, it seemed her mood had changed once her mind was engaged. Maybe he should have tried to teach her Liar's Dice after all, she might have found it as fun as he did. He would chuckle at her response though, partially because it was funny to think about, and other partially because he couldn't help but think about how much like an adult she sounded. She must have come from a posh home to sound so proper.

"I dunnnoooooo..." Kels' voice would squeak cheekily, a cartoonish cadence and dubious expression. "I kinda think you can totally know too much about something. Stay away from the internet, okay? It's full'a things y'don't wanna know."

After he had added her note to his journal, she talked some more, doing that thing people did when they were filling the air in a space they felt needed secured. Diminishing, he was used to hearing a lot of it. "Hey, it was pretty cool you went digging at all. I don't know if you noticed this, but not a lot of people still had hope. I think that's worth something."

As she went on, she continued to sound very extremely mature. He couldn't help but wonder what she must have gone through to grow up so fast. Usually when that happened, it wasn't because of a good thing. He wouldn't pity an imaginary sad backstory he had just made up though, he'd nod along, listening. When she heard him offer the hug, she nodding an agreement, he he'd wrap his arms around hers in a tight squeeze. As a Hufflepuff alumni, he was a professional at hug giving, and knew exactly how to tell when the hugee needed to detach. He'd not linger, but not rush, and just give her a few pats on the back to be sure.

Everyone needed a hug sometimes, that was medicine 101.

The internet. The internet. She'd heard that word before, but it took a moment of thought before she recalled it, "I know that. In the window book, right? Where you ask it a question and it shows you, or it can show you um..." she hesitated a moment trying to remember - it was an awful lot to retain in one weekend of learning, "the tube, with the moving picture stories and music and tubers that teach things." she meant YouTube, which she found quite astonishing. Muggles truly were creative, if anything, "My friend Bridget visited me over the summer and her brought it with her to show me." the girl explained. Though she was curious what he'd meant saying it was full of things she didn't want to know. Did it not only show you the things you wanted to know? That was how Bridget seemed to explain it. It only answered the questions you asked, or showed you what you asked for. She would have to stick a needle in that to ask her later.

As the nurse commented on how so many had lost hope, she shifted a little. Truthfully, she almost had too. It was easy to loose hope when it wasn't just you hitting dead ends, but your esteemed professors as well, "I should've done more to help keep everyone safe that night." the girl had been all of 12 years old, a mere second year, nearest the door and who was quickly overrun by the spiders and out cold in moments. It wasn't reasonable to imagine what more she could have done. Then barely coming to in the Hospital wing amongst the agonized crying and pleas from her fellow Slytherins, especially the young ones, it shook her. It made her feel like she'd failed them. Now it was a similar agony when she'd need the newly cursed students.

She shook the thought away quickly, "The least I can do is whatever I need to to help them now."

Though she'd never admit it, it was easing to feel arms take you into a warm squeeze. The girl wrapped her arms around his waist, albeit tighter then she'd meant to, letting herself be hidden away into his protection. Maybe it was the wash of momentary relief, possibly she was a bit touch starved, but she felt her eyes start to mist over. No, no, absolutely not. That was a line of vulnerability she refused to cross as she quickly willed and blinked away any threat of tears. Illowy swallowed the lump of tacky glue that had collected in her throat, "Thank you, Nurse Brumby," the girl began, "for caring enough to not give up." offered a small smile up at the healer before releasing her hold around his waist after he'd patted her back, taking a step away for them to regain personal space.

I was told I was dangerous. When I asked why, they said, "Because you don't need anyone." That's when I smiled.

Kels gave a light-hearted chuckle at Illowy's estimation of the internet. At last, she was starting to sound a bit like a child again, though it was more likely due to her experience living in the wizarding world than her age. "That's pretty much right, on a surface level. T'internet is more like a library where every bit of information anyone can think to share is kept on a bunch of machines all over the world. Then y'can recall it at any time, if yer connected. That's what I mean, anyone can put anything there, y'gotta be careful they aren't jes' lyin' or delusional."

When his attempt at lifting her up only let out another string of self-doubt and regret, he threw his hands up, sighing quietly. It was a beleaguered, frustrated sigh, but a sad one that accompanied most cases like this, where the patient struggled with the fact that they survived. Even though she acted like she was moving on, he still wanted to say something."Even if y'saved everyone, it wouldn't change t'fact someone tried to attack some kids. Don't feel bad y'couldn't do more, imagine one of yer friends said the same thing, that's sad."

He was grateful at least the she accepted the hug, she clearly needed it. She squeezed him tightly, almost knocking the air out of his lungs, but he didn't over-react like he might in a different situation. The last thing she needed right then was to think she hurt someone, so he resisted the urge to act like she was killing him in a vice grip, even though that would have been really funny. She topped it off with some more somber words, to which he would nod, before going back to his desk.
"Sure! Yer welcome, I guess!"

Illowy made a mental note to remember that. Though it seemed strange that Muggle would put so much stock into something that was suppose to be helpful and full of information for them to be able to access... so why complicate things with information that was untrue? They really ought to work on vetting such things since. What was the point of using it if you couldn't be sure it was the right information? And why allow people to publish such information if they weren't correct?

Perhaps in the future she'd pick the nurse's brain further on such things. After all, he seemed to know quite a bit.

The young witch had a moment of reflection. Truthfully, she'd never considered how she'd react if one of her friends or another cursed child had felt the same feelings. Certainly it couldn't be impossible since she knew many of her peers had fought as hard as they could to protect themselves and their house when it happened. She just happened to be taken down too quick to be of any real help. Even she had to admit, if roles had been reversed and someone said the same thing to her, she'd probably agree with his sentiment, "I hadn't looked at it that way before." she admitted.

"I'm just glad that at least this part is all sorted. Most of us were scared that everyone had given up and this was going to be our forever... however long that might've been." she explained, picking at her nails absentmindedly, "Though, I can't believe the solution was so simple." Illowy gave a sheepish chuckle, recalling her more convoluted and possibly risker ideas of how to cure the curse.

I was told I was dangerous. When I asked why, they said, "Because you don't need anyone." That's when I smiled.
