Not Partners in Crime but Partners in Time
@Henry KnightTo describe Adlai's enjoyment for singular work who be an insult to her personal character. Which is why when the professors announced that today would be a day where her and her fellow classmates would be working together as partners to complete todays assignment she was jumping for joy. It's not because Adlai is a lazy students who copies others work, she just likes to be social while working. Oddly enough thats how she gets her work done faster.
Lucky enough for her she was partnered with someone she already know, Henry. They had spoken enough for her to consider one another friends. More like casual friends then close friends though, which was a pity in her eyes since she thought of him as a very interesting individual. Making her way over to his desk with her objects of academic leading in one arm she waved to him, "Hi Henry! How have you been?" She asked flashing that same shiny, metal covered smile for the past year.
Nothing has changed much for Adlai much appearance wise since her first year at Hogwarts. Aside from growing the occasional half-inch or so, she still wore the same ankle length skirt, long sleeved uniform shirt under a uniform vest, with the same pair of worn uniform shoes and a yellow Hijab to match her house colors and simply to brighten up her uniform. This was her staple look, of course that's what you get when you go to a school that requires uniforms, which she necessarily wasn't against.

History of Magic. For some a dull class which means a card game or catching up on sleep. However, for others it means moments filled of reading and writing on historical topics that one could onlt dream about physically bring present for.
Seated at the back of the classroom, in a desk in a dimly lit corner. Henry Knight sat alone, after not finding his best friend to sit with. Occasionally rising his hand to answer questions, the teen stayed relatively quiet compared to the others. Unsure how to feel about the assignment thay requires assigned partners. Having a reputation as a know it all meant that a few students parthered up with the lad only for his smarts or answers. Looking for uim to do all the work.
As others searched for their assigned partners, Henry placed his bag besides his chair on the floor. Parchment on his table with a pen in hand, history of magic book closed said on the desk. The book tattered and well used. The teen started to write the introduction as he waited for his partner, Adlai Rod who is known to him. A kind hufflepuff with a rabbit, the teen found her nice and wished they got to talk more than they did.
Since second year, Henry grew a inich or two along with his hair that ran along his neck a little now. Ruffled yet neat looking. His skin a little bit darker from his days in the sun and eyes shined a brighter shade or blue. Ome notable change is the gold rusted pendant always around his neck with the two other's (a pizza charm and wolf charm on the same chain). Along with the 6 or 7 bracelets on his left wrist and usually, always wearing long sleeves now that year to hide the scars.
The teen heard the voice, moving his chsir a bit to the side for his parther ad he looked up. A soft smile as he spoke"Hello, Adlai. I have been fine and you?" the teen watched her for a moment before turning toward his parchment as he continued"shall we start on the essay?"

@Henry Knight"That's great to hear! Mind telling me what's been making you so fine?" She asked before answering Henry's following question, "Of course! Is there any particular sections you'd like for me to read and take notes on? That way the work can evened out? I have no preferences but if you do I'd like for you to be able to call dibs on the sections you'd like to really the most, if you know what I mean?"
Henry never sounded very cheerful when he spoke and he had a serious face. Adlai could never remember ever seeing him laugh or smile without being sarcastic before, which worried her. There were times she wondered if he knew how to have fun since the two of them had never truly hung out with one another, at least not on purpose as they had ran into one another from time to time before.
"If you don't mind me asking, but what do you enjoy doing?" She was curious, she had never heard him talk about any hobbies. The only time she had ever seen him become even remotely excited was when he spoke about his cat or showing off his cat, not like it was a bad thing but she just wondered what else made his day, year, or year... fine.

His partner is a talker is seems, the lad figured that she could talk for them both while he listened gor them both. Wirting the introduction paragraph, the words neat yet cramped and small and a large potion of the parchment already gone to the introduction.
At her question, Henry didn't look uo from writing as hs spoke"how aboit we focus on the essay," writing the teen didn't have a preference either as he thought for a moment then continued"I write a paragraph then you, we can continue switching sinxe either of us have a preference," the thurd year wrote with barley looking at the book, Henry is onr of those people who seem to get good grades eithout even trying but never bragged. Instead he offered to help, wanting others to succeed just as much as him.
The girl asked another question, finishing up the last line of the introduction the kad passed her the parchment to do the nexy paragraph as he spoke"how about whoever is writing gets to aso the other one question?" It seemed simple enough, benefitted both sides and they won't be the only tabke silent apparently.
The teen took a moment, considering his hobbies then spoke"I like to read and do photography I guess- uh and play the violin which is cool," another thought as he looked for the words then spoke"I like to duel to, on the house team even not that I care for house pride. I don't, some of my best mates are in hufflepuff," a soft smile as the teen looked over at the parchment wondering how the essay was coming along.

@Henry KnightNodding along as Henry spoke, she mulled over his suggestions before answering, "I think that's a great idea. In a way it's like a small motivator!" she exclaimed and then silenced herself so that she may hear his response to her previous question for him.
She had no idea he was on the dueling team. She never really paid that much attention to school sports, unless it was an important quidditch match that she knew a majority of people would be talking about. Adlai liked to stay in the loop as much as she could, though at times it was a bit draining.
"Photography is interesting! I've handled a camera once or twice before since my mom is a seamstress and I would help take photos from time to time whenever my dad couldn't help out. It's really fun though!" She went on, "I always enjoyed going into the goofiest of poses to get just the right angle. It was also nice to get a genuine smile for the people who were modeling, they were always very nice young men and women."
"I don't know how to play any instruments! That's super cool!" She said in surprise, "I'm sorry, I'm sure you hear this all the time. Anyway, are you ready for me to get started on the next passage?"

Henry feot himself smile a little and glance down, a bit flustered before looking back up and nodding. A part of him glad that Adlai liked the idea since the lad did want to know the hufflepuff a bit more than he already have known, from past experiences she seemed nice and friendly. Someone who could talked for hours but also someone who you would want to sit with in a silent moment and listen to the wind howl with.
Dueling is a sport of mental if not physical endurance as well, a test of the mind. Of intelligence. A true battle of the wits. The teen never have been one to like brooms that inculde brooms although majority of his friends have spors on the quidditch ans broom racing teams.
The teen listened to Adlai, smiling softly as he felt his heart beat a little faster. Perhaps he could use his camera a bit more, maybe he could a photo or two of Adlai. Nodding toward the girl as he brushed back a strand or two of hair, questions forming within his mind. The teen stayed silent till the hufflepuff finished, the teen softly spoke"your mum is a seamstress? That's cool, do you like take pictures of other items," the teen eyed the girl for a moment, mauling over thoughts before continuing"you aeem to have a good photo presence, you know," a soft smile before the teen looked away unsure why he said that before shaking the thought away and looking back at Adlai.
At the girl's next few words, Henry gussed that it is interesting. Never realizing it before, playing violin or piano or even guitar seemed like apart of his route. It didn't seem special or interesting to the teen. At the end of her words, Henry spoke"you think that's cool? Thanks, I actually don't hear it a lot and if you want I can teach you," a small smile followed by a nod as he spoke"sure, while you can writing you can ask me anything."

@Henry Knight"Not items per se, but definitely people or live subjects like animals!" She exclaimed. "Good photo presence? Oh, I know. I've always been told I've got a great face!" She said semi-sarcastically and a bit dramatically. She wasn't one to turn down a compliment by saying things like 'oh no, I look awful! because she knew she wasn't ugly but she also knew she wasn't the prettiest girl in the world.
"You'd teach me? That's so sweet of you, thank you! I wouldn't want to take up much of your time though! On top of that I don't really trust myself with instruments... I don't have the greatest history handling them." Her voiced trailed off at the end out of awkward embarrassment. The amount of things a string or two had snapped at her times was enough to call it traumatic.
"Alright then, what would you say your favorite genre of music is? I'm pretty basic when it comes to that question since I tend to like whatever is popular." Adlai always liked to know other's tastes in music so that perhaps she could broaden in her musical horizons just a bit. In fact she had a list of bands in a notebook so that she'd remember to listen to them whenever break came.

/center]Listening, nodding the teen offered a soft smile as he spoke"I enjoy takimg pictures of animals and people as well, maybe we could view each other's work sometime?" Woek meanimg photos. He haven't met many who take photos before, curiousnto Adlai's photos as he smiled. Listening to her.
Framing her face. The teen felt his eyes glisten upon her features. Fair heading. Fair complexion. Illuminating eyes. The mix of colors. The teen kept his eyes on her as he spoke"you do, I would love to take your picture even..." A nod. Bringing his eyes from her to the desk, looking over there work as he took shallow breaths. Wondering if her thoughts changed of him... worried that they did.
A look up, he watched her. He haven't thought of the time or her mishandling his violin. Only the experience and enjoyment of teaching her as he spoke"it won't take up my time and I can always mend it if you damage the violin, I would love to teach you if you want to learn," a soft smile. Eyes on her. He onlt saw the chance to spend more time with a girl he looked to spend time with.
Favorite genre? The teen took a moment. Wasn't sure what to say. He looked toward the paper, a minute before speaking"classic perhaps and anything semi popular to but I also like older music," the teen watch her write. He thought for a moment before asking"want me to write again?" And ask her questions once more.

@Henry Knight"Of course! That would be awesome!" Adlai replied in reference to the photographs. "I'd have to print some out though since technology and magic don't get along well from what I know." She quite fully grasp as to why technology and magic didn't mix well, but she accepted it nonetheless.
"My picture?" She asked, "Yeah! I think that would be fun! I'd take yours too!" She said, fond of the idea. She didn't know how or when it would happen, if it would happen at all. But just the idea... the idea was enough to make her smile.
"I'd like to play an instrument really, but from my experience I think I should stick with my sports. Tennis, gymnastics, dance... I tend to thrive when I don't need to worry about breaking anything." She thought back to all the times her young body was sore due to the all the strenuous work she had put it through. "Aside myself that is." She added before awkwardly laughing at the comment.
"Older music is great! I've been listening to quite a bit of it recently since I've started listening to things my grandparents liked when they were younger." She said, thinking back to all the songs she had never heard before until her grandparents introduced them to her. As she finished off a sentence she moved the paper into Henry's direction. "Sure!" She said, answering his question about him writing more for their assignment.
