Tears on Her Face
Angel - #17451b
Dave - #fff79e
As I exited the ball room and went through the corridors to the stairs which would lead me down and into the Hufflepuff common room and on my way towards the stairs I took a turn from the ball room and after I had walked around five meters, I heard a quiet sob in what I now knew to be the Rehearsal Room. Curiosity had gotten the better of me so I looked in to see who it was that was in there and I saw none other then AngelFyre Ashton (or something like that) McCubbin with tears won her face, and more were streaming down from her eyes so I quietly stepped in and walked over to her before sitting down to her left and wrapping my right arm over her shoulders, bringing her a bit closer to myself. I thought of what I could say that could possibly comfort her and I thought back to when she left and remembered how she had apologized to both, Simon and Haley before she left and she left saying that she was going to remove myself from the toxic mountain of soup, so I decided to start there. “Well, there’s not much of the toxic soup left now, Hailee yelled at me and left and then Simon left and then it was just me, Della, and Scarlett so I decided to leave too and on my way to the Hufflepuff Common room I hear you crying here so I decided to come in and here you are so I’d like to ask if I could possibly comfort you in any way, even if it is just letting you cry your eyes out into my shoulder. And if it makes you feel any better which it probably won’t, I did apologize to Della for being so harsh to her.”

Tears on Her Face
Before she had made it around the back of her chair after making her apologies to Haley and Simon at The Sweetheart's Tea Party, she stopped long enough to hear Haley's words, making it all too clear what she felt about AngelFyre's words of apology. They were everything one would expect them to be, and AngelFyre did not deflect them, but bore the full brunt. She could see that there was more Haley considered saying, but she had decisively opted to keep it short and simple... and devastating as was her right.
When AngelFyre made it into the Corridor, she instinctively turned to go to the Hufflepuff Dormitory, but everything she herself had been holding in all evening threatened to overtake her, and so she hurriedly entered the first room she came to... the Rehearsal Room. Still unaware where she was precisely in that moment, she slipped in and quickly closed the door, or thought she had, when the sobs rang out and began to convulse her body. She ran over to the piano bench and sat there, letting it all out, muting it as best she could, but truly not understanding what exactly had happened that evening... or why.
Her heart was broken, yes, but her tears in those moments were not for herself , but rather, for Haley and Simon. Especially for Haley. AngelFyre was nothing short of mortified at her behavior. Never in her life had she ever acted in such a way and her actions had taunted and embarrassed and humiliated others, herself included. What she had done tonight was thoughtless and unforgivable. She felt unclean, inside and out.
And as she burst into a fresh round of sobs, she was aware that Dave was now sitting beside her, wrapping his arm around her, and offering her a shoulder to cry on...literally... the kind of comfort she knew deep in her soul she did not deserve, but she leaned into it, and cry she did.
After a few minutes, when she was beginning to feel the sting of salty tears on her chapped, red cheeks, she quieted down a bit, but her body was still in a mild, reflexive convulsive mode. AngelFyre recognized this as the end to the tears... at least for now. When she brought her hands up to wipe away the dampness from her face, she heard Dave tell her he had apologized to Della. She tried to sit up straighter in that moment and breathe fresh air into her aching torso. She turned to him, still wiping the tears away, and managed a small smile.
"Good. Seems like the whole evening could be boiled down and synthesized into the need for one, grand apology tour." She was about to continue when her body took in a reflexively deep breath, stopping her temporarily. She just looked at him, feeling spent. "You are lucky you only had one apology to make. I could tell Haley I am sorry from now until the day I die and it would still not be enough." And her body started to shudder again, threatening the throes of another sob fest, but she shook it off, standing and then pacing back and forth to the side of the bench.
Looking at Dave, not expecting an answer really, AngelFyre muttered, "Who was that girl, tonight? I have no idea who she was. I mean, I know it was me doing those awful things, saying those hurtful things, but at the same time, it was not me.
Shaking her head and standing still now beside the bench, all she could do was repeat over and over..."It was not me. It was not me."

AngelFyre leaned into me and cried for a while into my shoulder and if I was honest, it felt pretty good even though my shirt would be wet with tears. I looked down at her and gently stroked her hair until she finished crying at which point she started wiping away her tears and she soon looked up at me, managing a small smile before starting to talk “Good. Seems like the whole evening could be boiled down and synthesized into the need for one, grand apology tour.” It seemed like she was referring to me apologizing to Della and perhaps, those last words of mine had made her feel better. She then took a deep breath before continuing by saying: “You are lucky you only had one apology to make. I could tell Haley I am sorry from now until the day I die and it would still not be enough.”. She then stood up and started pacing back and forth to the side of the bench as I though how bad you have to do something for you to apologize every day for the rest of your life and for doing it and for all those apologies to still not be enough for the other person to forgive you. “Well, if the last part is true which I hope it isn’t, then it’s probably because of your public confession of your love for Simon.”.
Then, in response to my comment AngelFyre said “Who was that girl, tonight? I have no idea who she was. I mean, I know it was me doing those awful things, saying those hurtful things, but at the same time, it was not me.” She then stopped pacing and stood there beside the bench, repeating the words “It was not me, it was not me, it was not me…”. This went for a good thirty seconds, not that I was counting, before I had decided to intercept. “Perhaps you’re right, maybe it wasn’t you. Perhaps you were under the influence of some sort of magic that is yet unknown to us as first years, or maybe it was just you acting very foolishly, but whoever that girl was screwed you up in the eyes of quite a few people and it’s sad to see you have to take the blame for it, but sometimes we do things we deeply regret and whether or not we did so intentionally or unintentionally doesn’t change the fact that we did what we did. This probably isn’t helping so I’ll just stop.”

Her head snapped back to look at Dave when he mentioned the possibility of being under the influence of magic. Really? Why? How? It would explain a lot if true. It would in no way absolve her of everything, but it would explain that confession for sure. The thought of that confession brought a searing lump to her stomach, and she simply could not deal with that train wreck while standing in this of all rooms... the Rehearsal Room.
Oh, of course she would find herself in the Rehearsal Room right now of all places. This was where she could look back at every minute she and Simon had ever spent together and determine that it was here, in this very room, dancing beneath that chandelier, that she lost her heart to him. Looking around the room now, the luster seemed to have dulled. The glimmering, sparkling light from the chandelier seemed to have dimmed. How fitting that it would be in this same room where she would now have to come to terms with it, not that there ever was an it, being over and done with. Now she just needed to collect her wits and prepare for the damage she had done to herself in the minds of her fellow classmates and do her best to live with the aftermath of the mess she had created. Dave was no doubt right about that.
Dave. And what damage had she done there? She sat back down on the piano bench and turned slightly to look at him. "Dave, thank you. Thank you for offering your shoulder... sorry about the soggy shoulder... but most of all, just thank you for being my friend, especially right now." She took a deep breath and continued, "I am also sorry that you got caught in the crossfire of the evening. I am flattered that you chose me to be your Valentine, and yeah, yeah...I know it was because it was better than the alternative, but still. You had a whole Ballrom of girls to choose from and you chose me. Thank you for that, too," and then she leaned over and kissed him on the cheek.
Then looking at the piano keys she asked,"What do you know about love potions?"

Thank you for offering your shoulder... sorry about the soggy shoulder... but most of all, just thank you for being my friend, especially right now.” She then took a deep breath whilst shuddering a bit so I scooted over to her and wrapped my arms around her to keep her from becoming cold. “I am also sorry that you got caught in the crossfire of the evening. I am flattered that you chose me to be your Valentine, and yeah, yeah...I know it was because it was better than the alternative, but still. You had a whole Ballroom of girls to choose from and you chose me. Thank you for that, too.” Then, quite un-expectedly, she leaned over and kissed me on the cheek, and what an amazing kiss it was. Either that or I’m only saying it because the only other people that had ever kissed me were part of my family so I had no idea what it felt like to be kissed by an someone else, but man, what a great feeling it was. AngelFyre then looked at the piano before asking, “What do you know about love potions?”
In response to AngelFyre’s words, I had made up my own response and although I usually said stuff on the go, I thought these words through since I didn’t comfort people very often and I didn’t want to mess this up. “Yeah, I was glad I could help with my shoulder, everyone needs one sometimes, and please, don’t apologize for the soggy shirt, it wouldn’t be soggy had I not offered it to you. And doing this is just one of the perks of being friends with me although I guess I was also lucky that you had left the door ajar. And I was the one who put myself in the crossfire, unintentionally at first, but I was the one who had decided to stay after Simon called me back and I was the one who chose to say what I said so in the end it was kinda my fault and the reason I choose you is because I knew you the best out of everyone there and you just so happened to be at Simon’s table when I brought him his stuff. And as for what I know about love potions, they make you fall in love, or so I think.”

Tears on Her Face
"Well, looks like I have some research in front of me, then. All I know is that something was going on with me and I intend to find out what it was. That was just not my normal behavior."
The weight of the evening began to press on her and AngelFyre felt wrung out and exhausted. Looking up at the portrait people, she smiled at them and waved, wondering if any of them remembered her from the night in here with Simon.
Simon.
He must just hate her right now. No. She knew better. It was not in him, she did not think, to hate anyone, but he had probably decided to stay clear of her in the future. And if he had not decided on his own, perhaps there was just the slimmest chance that he and Haley had been able to go off and talk and right things between them. Stranger things had happened. If so, a condition to that happenstance would no doubt be to move on as if AngelFyre did not exist. Avoid at all costs.
Who could blame either one of them? Certainly not AngelFyre. With fresh tears in her eyes, she reached for the piano keys and with the back of her right hand, she swiped it up and down the keys 2-3 times, the harsh clamoring filling the room. I call it Cacophony.
"I do not know about you, Dave, but I am exhausted. Ready to head off to our dorms? A new day cannot get here soon enough as far as I am concerned." And with a sad, last look around the Rehearsal Room, AngelFyre slowly walked towards the door and towards an uncertain future.

“Well, looks like I have some research in front of me, then. All I know is that something was going on with me and I intend to find out what it was. That was just not my normal behavior.” AngelFyre said in response to what I had said and she made it very clear that what I said wasn’t the answer she was looking for so I decided to suggest that I could help her with her research. “Well if I acted that way then I would also think that something was going on with me and if you want any help with your research, I’m usually available and I really wouldn’t mind helping you with it.”
AngelFyre wasn’t in a very good mood, and I knew that because a, a new set of tears started coming out of her eyes and b, she extended her hand to the piano before running her hand on the keys a few times. “I do not know about you, Dave, but I am exhausted. Ready to head off to our dorms? A new day cannot get here soon enough as far as I am concerned.” She then got up and headed towards the door so I stood up and ran up to her before saying “Yeah, I’m also pretty exhausted and if I were you I’d probably be saying the same thing, a new day can’t get her soon enough.”
