The Darkness of The Night
A glow of the lumos spell seemed blinding to Alice's dilated eyes. It took a moment of wincing and blinking to adjust to the scene unfolding before her. Another wizard? Good. Scarlet and gold fabrics caught her eye. It was a Gryffindor? Even better. Alice quickly looked past the classmate at the panicked face behind the boy. The witch had been able to distinguish that it was another female wizard. But why was it a classmate casting spells at her? What in the hell was actually going on here?
The young witch noticed Aurelia's hand had also securely found her wand. The panic and worry on Aurelia's face did nothing to Alice's comfort. "H-hey!" She yelled at the boy standing between them with a wand to his back. "Look out!" Before the words could break her lips completely the girl had declared a Flipendo and sent herself huddling backwards. This girl was a glutton for self destruction.
Alice didn't move. She was frozen with shock and surprise in time with her aching body. It took a moment before she could even process that the fallen girl was not spasming for the thrill of it. Instead, it seemed she was gasping for breath. If the headboy still stood before her Alice would storm forth with her wand forward. "Give me a hand!" She shouted out as she begun to swish her wand. "Wingardium Leviosa!" At the flick of her wand she'd cast to Aurelia herself in an effort to levitate her fully out of the water and into the air just above.

Even in the material world, you will find that if you look for the light, you can often find it. But if you look for the dark, that is all you will ever see.

The Darkness of The Night
The scream of a spell reached his ears and he felt a gust of wind pass him, causing his hair to rustle ever so slightly. It sounded like it was coming from someone who clearly thought she was in danger and what was worse was they just tried to attack him. It wasn't a moment too soon till he turned around just as the figure sent herself into the lake. He too was stunned by the fact that she could have hurt him and by the fact that she was sent into the lake.
Reid turned his head just as the other girl pass him, so it wasn't some boogeyman - it was just another student. He didn't bother figuring out who it was as he was still coming out from his stunned state. That person just sent themselves back into the water, how much worse could this get. But the young boy's expression hardened, his brows furrowing as he rolled up his sleeves and heeded the other girls call. She seemed like she went far and so he began kicking off his shoes on his way down to the lake's waters.
Reid nearly shivered as he felt the waters lap onto his skin as he entered it. "Where are they?! Lumos!" The tip of his wand lit up as he quickly waded deeper and deeper. The light would extinguish in the water, but he got enough light to see a figure in the water. Was that her? It seemed like it as he didn't know what else gave off that silhouette. "I see them!" The light went out as he put the wand between his waistband and hips, he would need both hands for this job. With a sense of urgency, the boy went into the lake's murky waters without a moments notice.
Barely any light pierced the lake's hazy nature, but it was enough light to see the girl flailing. Plus the surface broke from the action, getting her back to shore was the hard part. Still, Reid persisted as he grabbed a hold of the girl's hand. With all he could, he pulled her up towards him as he himself tried to stay afloat. Water filled his mouth and nostrils and it almost made him want to choke due to what he was trying to do.
But she needed air and he attempted to make it so that her head was at least above the water. He sputtered, shaking his head free from the water that stung his eyes and began swimming back to shore. One hand was used to help paddle and the other was around her waist. "H-here!" he growled, feeling himself grow a little tired. Swimming was one thing, but swimming back with a person was a different beast for him. Adrenaline and a sense to help save her was what kept him going, Reid didn't want a student to die in front of him.
He didn't want a repeat of the campout where his friends nearly died and he couldn't do anything. She wasn't a friend of his, but none of this was relevant after all. In the end, all that mattered was he cared. With this thought, the boy paddled on back till he felt his feet finally touch the shore beneath. There he was able to stand up and turn himself to slip both hand under her using the buoyancy of the water.
Reid was heaving and his legs burned like ice left too long on skin, his whole body was cold from the temperature and from the adrenaline high he was coming down from. "Hey! Are you awake?" He was still helping her to shore, but he didn't know her state since he last saw her flailing. Reid would soon find out as he carefully let her onto the shore before collapsing back onto a sitting position. He turned around in search of the other girl, rubbing the water out of his eyes.
"Trouble usually finds me."

The Darkness of The Night
The eleven year old, without the help of her legs, was pushed around by the aggressive waves the lake created from its depths like a buoy at sea. The current was strong and proved to be too much for her slim arms to manage. She could barely keep her head above the surface for a couple of seconds. Another wave slapped her face and she gasped for air, but instead, she swallowed a mouth full of water. The paralysis from the spell was still not wearing off, she could feel her toes but other than that, her legs were numb. Her arms was aching and her head was slowly being engulfed by the waters.
Her lungs stung painfully from the lack of air. Aurelia was sure it had meant her end and she was going to die in the vast lake. Her body would sink down to the depths when life had long left her. No one would know where she had gone to, not even her parents who loved her dearly. She should have stayed in her dorm, everything would be alright if she did.
Something grabbed her arm. Was it a Grindylow or merpeople? The girl's body was limp the murky waters prevented her from able to see anything. Aurelia could feel all her strength slowly leaving her. If they had come to her for a midnight snack, so be it, she was as good as dead. Then, she felt herself breaking the surface of the water. Sensing that her head is no longer underwater, she instinctively inhaled. Oxygen filled her lungs and she was slowly gaining back her consciousness. The girl felt herself being pulled by her waist. This wasn't a creature of any kind, it was an arm similar to her own, it was a human. Somebody was attempting to rescue her.
After almost a minute of being pulled. Aurelia felt herself dragged onto shore. The girl rolled onto her side to cough out the gallons of water she had swallowed and breathed in previously. Her chest felt like it was on fire, her lungs stung as well as her eyes which were swelled up in tears as more liquid was spat out from her lips, she had never felt such a horrible feeling in her years.
The girl blinked, processing what that just happened. The brunette had almost lost her life, that was for sure. Someone had saved her. Aurelia propped herself up and looked around frantically. A person was seated on the ground next to her. The girl's arms swung around the boy's neck and had embraced him with a hug, she had assumed that he was the one that had rescued her. "O mijn God. Dank je, dank je, dank je!" She said repeatedly as her native language clouded her mind, all she could think of was to thank him.
"Ik ging bijna dood! Ik ging bijna dood! Bedankt dat je me hebt gered!" She breathed out.
She then pulled away. Remembering the creature that punched her.
"We have to go now. There was a creature that attacked me previously, I don't know what it is but its dangerous." She warned, switching back to English. Her eyes darted around, panicking yet again. The young girl attempted to scramble up to her feet but fell back down again when her legs refused to obey her. She could move her legs a little, but they weren't fully mobile yet. She had been stunned before by the same spell that backfired during a DADA class, however, the period of paralysis wasn't as long as what she was experiencing currently.
