Paintings that talk, pictures that tell
She hadn't meant to run so late out of a charms class, as she hurried past a few students, Lavinia felt rather... called to. Stopping suddenly, she was trying to figure out what that feeling was. Taking a step back, she looked at the portraits, trying to figure out if any of them were specially interesting....
Maybe she'd just felt lonely.
".... do people talk to you?" she asked a random portrait, of some man, leaned bacl in his chair, who now blinked, looking straight at the girl. "Huh?"
"sorry, I... I was wondering... do people talk to your portraits at times?" she asked again, tilting her head, as a woman from the painting next to the man, looked at her too. "well, not many do, we are mere decorations for most of you students." the woman spok,e Lavinia nodded qas she stuffed her charms homework into her book bag. "so... no one even asks your names?"
"well, no, but our names are written on our portraits." the man spoke, motioning down to a nameplate, that lavinia nodded at. Cadwgawn. "oh I see, sir... uhm.... I'm sorry, I cannot pronounce your name." she blushed, the man letting out almost an offended huff. "of coutse, they don't teach you names, do they, but they teach you all sorts of magic, but of course, my name's too hard for ya!" he batked, Making Lavinia take a step back.
"I-I'm sorry..."
"Oh, shush you blabbering old fool, be nice to the girl, she was merely trying to be polite!" the woman spoke, And Lavinia looked at her nameplate. Eilwen Pryde.
".... is that Ilwen, or Elwen?" she asked, absentmindedly, the woman chuckling. "Dear girl, it does not matter how to say it... just that you're comfortable with how you say it. I am much nicer than this grumpy miser." she smiled, making Lavinia giggle. She did notice a couple people pass by her giving her looks, as if she'd gone mad. ".... don't mind them, they think we are just enchanted decor." Eilwen spoke, smiling.
"I suppose... not many stop and talk to you?" Lavinia spoke, moving her blue headband up a bit, so as to not slide over her eyes. Another portrait, of a group of women in a sewing circle, one in particular smiled at the chatting girl. "Heavens, only a very few realize we can even hold a conversation!"
"that's a shame... Oh gods, I'm running late to Transfigurations.... I'll try and remember to talk to more portraits!" she smiled, hurrying off to another class, the portraits waving goodbye after her.
