@bada boomA sneer. Cody learned his lesson last year, well.. during the first half of the year anyways... about publicly duelling, especially after being told NOT to. Well, Cody walked down to the Dueling Club, or rather the room where the duels were, since he was going (or was, unknown duel date) to duel.
He would think to himself endlessly. HE would be the reigning champion. The one every looks up to. He WILL earn that title. He will be someone people adore. But right now, that had to be utterly impossible. For who... could ever love a beast? A line from beauty and the beast was the beast part.
Cody ran towards the back wall, pounded it, and started sobbing. "Why does no one respect me? I try so hard!" The boy was embarrased. Flushed with anger and humiliation. His time at school has been nothing but trouble. But at least he got to go to Juniper's house. Even if it was ginormous. Upon his return, he was terrified. Freddy was now at school with him. But, he didn't want Freddy there! Freddy was a rat, so to speak. Freddy would be more of a teacher's pet, ratting people out. Being the teacher's golden snitch.
The young part goblin had every right to be angry, he presumed. But, did he really deserve to think like that? He would walk towards entrance, stride back and forth, pacing. He wanted to do a duel, like the book found in the library says... "The Guide to being a proper dueler starts with you following the rules and being a gentleman. Or gentlewoman. Or well- a gentlethem!"
"O cem bu sgor. O geti dakk cumdobimci om lxrikd. Rofgs?" I can do this. I have full confidence in myself. Right?Action: no spellcasting yet #|#|# IC Date: January 10th 2022

Duel Secrets You Never Told
@Cody Stevenson
Opeila walked down to the duelling club, not entirely sure how she felt.
It was a Monday. And while Opeila usually didn't mind the first day of the week unlike many, today it felt like some sort of bad omen. Generally, she just felt like she wanted to spend a whole day hiding in bed. But with the next stage of duelling coming closer with every passing day, she knew that she would hate herself for it later.
So Opeila went down to the duelling club, wearing comfortable jogging trousers and a thin sports sweater over a t-shirt. The Slytherin spun her wand in circles as she walked towards the door that led to the duelling club, when she heard something. She stopped spinning her wand and listened. Was that a crying child in there? Opeila hesitated. She really just wanted to train, could she even muster up the energy to comfort a kid right now?
Walking away seemed heartless, so Opeila entered the duelling club. There really was someone crying, a little- really little- boy who looked like he was one or two years younger than her. He had just started to say something that Opeila couldn't understand, in some odd language, but he still looked rather upset.
Opeila put down the waterbottle she always brought to the duelling club with her and approached the boy. "Hello there,", she greeted him, "is everything alright?" The third year reached up to the back of her head and twisted her hair into a bun that she fixated with a hairband. "Are you looking for someone to train with?", she added.

Duel Secrets You Never Told
@@Opeila WintersWas everything alright? Considering he was crying... Cody could consider it wise to lie. Even if it wasn't. But if you knew him, he'd snap if someone told him to do something he couldn't do, and continue to break some rules. But since he only met Opeila, well... seen her... first at the Pureblood event... now he gets to met her face to face. Hopefully Opeila didn't think of him as a wimp, since he worked so hard to deter all illusions of weakness so he could have a reputation. Well, thus far? He had a reputation of childish chaos.
A short nod, and a smirk was all that emerged. "I'm okay... uhh- whats yer name?"
Indeed, he wanted someone to train with. A little disappointed in himself for being the start of a "let-down"
"Here we stand, and well- yes. Yes, I want someone to train with. Also, me crying? You saw nothing. So, how does this work?" The youthful part goblin the felt need to mention that, hoping that the slytherin female didn't share his weakness. Especially when he felt the need to cry, partially in private.
"I understand that we can do any spells, if it makes sense- for duelling- so nothing that has to do with flowers?"
