2022, Stage 2 Hufflepuff vs Ravenclaw: Match 2

Frustration brewed in Willow as her spells continued to miss. At least she was able to hit Delilah last round but it didn't even matter as her and Cade teamed up to find her wand. Callista wasn't even able to hit them. Willow wouldn't, couldn't lose another duel. Her eyebrows knit together, a supreme bit of concentration coming over her face as she tunnel vision-ed into this duel.

[font=Times new roman]Quickly searching for her wand, it wasn't too long before Cade found it, whilst dodging spells sent from Callista and Willow, with a smirk she took the wand from him, "Thanks mate." She stood up straight, returning to her original position. She was back in the game, it was time to win this thing.

How they'd managed to dodge every spell cast towards them? Cade would never know. Either the Hufflepuffs briefly went blind or Cade somehow developed precognition. Whatever happened, the Ravenclaws should have been grateful. And Cade certainly was. With Cade's help, Delilah managed to find her wand and Cade sighed a breath of relief that it hadn't slipped further away. He nodded to Delilah as she said her thanks and leveled his wand once more towards the opposing team. Regaining a readied pose, Cade would prepare for the upcoming round.

The pronunciation was right, the wand movement was right, and the concentration was right. Yet Cade still managed to evade Callista's spell. She supposed it was only natural, and she had sidestepped a fair few of Cade's spells as well. Still, she couldn't help but feel a little frustrated that they were so evenly matched.

What was more curious was what Delilah and Cade decided to do. Callista had no idea it was possible for someone to help their partner search for their wand, but in hindsight, it seemed a perfectly logical plan.

Unfortunately, Willow's spells missed as well. When did they become so agile? The Hufflepuff locked in her jaw as a rare moment of frustration flickered across her face. She was barely standing as it was, and the Ravenclaws had quickly undone their work. Clearly, they had only succeeded in delaying what seemed to be inevitable victory for Delilah and Cade.

But no... she mustn’t go down that track. For Willow, she reminded herself. For Willow.

The duelists had a loud bout of spells planned. All four would whip wild magic at each other - looking to steal victory from the other.

Ravenclaw was in an advantageous position. They seemed to be untouched. Both of them uttered the same incantation: "Flipendo". A brutal spell that did it's job well - pack a large punch. They made their aim for the wounded Badger and released.

On the opposite side, our wounded duelist and her partner crafted their own spells. Callista would once more make the same move Delilah had, the two were connected until the end it appeared. Willow would shake things up, adding a double dose of flames to the stage.

The spells crossed each other in air. Willow's fire making it's way over first, only to find empty floor awaiting them. The first flipendo came towards Callista from Cade. If it hadn't been for the force knocking her backwards it would have been hard to tell if she'd dodged or not. Like Willow's flames, Callista's flipendo would find no human target.

As Callista flew toward the ground, end near, Delilah's flipendo would collide into her. She would be sent flying with much, much more force. Before she had even hit the floor Galton's hand was up "PAUSE! Callista is down!" Galton would wait until the medics had cleared her from the stage before the waved his hand down. "RESUME THE DUEL!"

This round seemed to move in slow motion. Never had Willow been so personally invested in her partner, in winning a duel. Every loss seemed to drag her further down into the feelings of incompetence that plagued her in Quidditch. While Willow's spell went off fine, they were able to dodge the spread once more. Cade was able to dodge Calli's spell.

Both Cade and Delilah decided to target her partner and she watched as Calli flew back, Galton's voice a ringing in her ears to stop the duel. "Calli-" Her voice was a strangled whisper. This was her second time this year being left to stand alone against two opponents. Last time she persevered, but she didn't want to. "Calli, please, please get up." It was futile, Calli was being heaved off the duelling piste to go get medical attention. Willow's wide eyes followed, expecting her to pop up at any second.

Everything seemed to speed back up into real time as her head whipped around as Galton restarted the duel. There was a fire in her eyes that could not be doused. For Callista, for Hufflepuff, as a captain of her team, she would fight until her very last breath even though she would only be knocked unconscious. Her fist pumped up into the air with her wand in hand as she let out a battle roar that rang throughout the club. It might look a little bit silly to outsiders, but for her it was what she needed to continue going.

Callista was finally out of comission. Cade knew she was down the moment the flipendo arched from his wand. But it was too late to stop Delilah from throwing another immediately after him. Cade winced, even from this distance it was disturbing to watch Callista's near unconscious frame being slammed against the floor. Cade would watch with a grim expression as Callista was taken out of the chamber by the medics. And taking a quick breath, he would turn back towards Willow. One down, one more to go.

[font=Times new roman]This round, Delilah felt on top of the world, She dodged out of the way of willows spell, Cade did the same for 2 spells, just for Cade and Del to hit Calli with all that they had, bam bam. Callista was down. If they didn't have the upper hand before, they certainly did now. It was getting exciting again!

The Ravens descended on the cornered Badger. The odds were not stacked in Willow's favor, but she had one trump card.

She could spell spread. While not unique in the duel, it would make her standing against two others less of a massacre. That was if she could hit any one. Her expelliarmus would split in air, but each of the two split bolt would swing wildly, crashing into each other and hitting no one. It was a good idea!

Ravenclaw also had a few good ideas. And one of them would stay as just an idea. Cade would go through the motions to conjure up a wingardium leviosa. But nothing would be produced. His was a bit too "levioSA" and not enough "leviOsa". Luckily, he didn't take any eyes out with it. Delilah would get her spell off though. It would hit even! Willow was struck with a nasty Mucus ad Nauseam.

Willow would immediately feel her nose tickle and tummy rumbled. It was subtle at first, but it would begin to grow until she couldn't contain it. A sneeze! Then another! Her stomach gurgled and churned alongside the sneezes. For now it was only strange sounds, and one would hope it stayed that way. Galton would hate to see Willow follow in his footsteps - this time without the waste-bin.

"Wingardium Leviosa!" Cade flicked his wand but to his utter embarrassment, nothing happened. Somewhat agitated, the wizard would silently curse. things like this happened, he was only in his second year after all. It's not that serious. Thankfully Delilah's end of the plan was successful! Curse of the Bogies was not one of Cade's favored spells. The effects of it were really nasty he should have been thankful it wasn't contagious.
