2022, Stage 2 Hufflepuff vs Ravenclaw: Match 4

As soon as the light came back into view, Frost blinked and tried to get accustom to how bright it was. She saw a spell... and a cat? It had caught something at the command of Alan, which was pretty cool, she had to admit. But break time was over, now that she had her sight, she sprung back into action.

Well this was starting to border on the sucks majorly zone. It seemed no matter where she went some degree of bad luck followed Callie. Although she forced herself to remember that it could be worse. She could be in the same situation as Robert, who she honestly hoped was doing alright amidst all this. She couldn’t really tell if he was okay and that was mildly terrifying.

Robert was not normally frustrated by his lack of physical strength, in fact, he was quite proud of his preference for the mental. Especially with his acceptance into Hogwarts, he was able to accomplish most necessary tasks through brainpower and magic. However, every once in a while, he found himself in one of those situations in which it would have been kind of nice to have a muscle in his body other than his brain capable of any heavy lifting. This was one of those moments. The boy strained with a herculean effort against Frost's curse with no avail, prompting what should have been a sigh of annoyance. However, he seemed to be lacking the sort of bodily control necessary for such complex movement at the moment.

Round Nine

Despite the fact that Callie knew ahead of time that she would get targeted, and tried to prepare for the incoming attack, Frost still remained with the upper hand for the encounter. Her accuracy in this instance seemed way above average as if she was able to calculate in the reaction of the eagle, but perhaps Alan was just a bit too excited at this display. Robert seemed to have enough of being petrified and frozen in place as he fought off the effect of the curse that had been placed on him. He would still feel somewhat sluggish and his limbs would feel a little too heavy, but he could move and act again! Alan nodded, this was getting more interesting again!

Frost let out a deep breath as she watched the Ravenclaw girl prepare to dodge her next attack, just as she had guessed. Perhaps her focus on Callie is what made her accuracy so good as she cast. In the moment after Callie was hit, she watched Robert break free from her earlier paralyzing spell. Surprisingly, Frost had done much better than she had thought she was going to.

She stood and prepared herself, hoping her streak of good luck would keep coming.

By now Callie wasn’t entirely sure what she was processing. Time seemed to be moving in a weird blur and truth be told she wasn’t entirely thinking through her movements. It was as though she was operating on autopilot, letting her instinct rather than her brain do the thinking. For Callie if she really thought about it..this wasn’t like her. But then again she wasn’t quite sure what she was to begin with these days.

Robert strained his feeble muscles once more, and this time was able to clumsily break free from his invisible restraints. A satisfied smile spread across his face, which was quickly replaced by a delighted smile as he realized that his face was able to move into the shape of a satisfied smile again. He still felt slightly slower than normal, but at least now he was once again in control.

Round Ten

Robert had been readying himself for a spell to come his way, but as if she had expected this, Frost instead would choose her turn to aim her wand upwards. A bright light would erupt from her wand, like a white flash that would blind both eagles. It would feel uncomfortable to even look in the direction where Frost stood. Callie however had managed to fire at the Hufflepuff girl, lighting the sleeve of her robe on fire, making the moderating Gryffindor grimace uncomfortably.

Frost quickly looked away from in front of her, in order to net blind herself with her charm. Even while looking away, the blinding light was very... well, blinding. Though she had started to smell smoke and felt heat, even heard the all-too-familiar sound of fire crackling. Light shouldn't do that, right?

Her eyes widened in horror. Dear Merlin, not again! She realized that there was indeed a fire, herself as its fuel. Of course, the Hufflepuff was on fire. Typical.
