Samantha gave her an angry look for stopping her but it was laughable attempt at best. Eun-ji knew what a proper wrath looked like now and so she wasn't bothered by the younger girl's expression. Her own remained stone cold and unyielding. She was not trying to win her favour. "You are right, you'd do good to ask the owner if their pet knows how to behave around owls first but don't do this. Sure sometimes Amenadiel can act before you ask but if the other person doesn’t do anything, it most likely means they’ll be fine. Owls have the advantage of wings too and if you are still scared start with pygmy puffs or something. Either way rushing in and screaming is the last thing you want to do. That will only spook the animals." The witch explained and only let go of the hand once Sam seemed to calm down a bit. Mordred was incredibly gentle with other pets but he was still cautious around humans and he would definitely not appreciate the second year suddenly jumping in his personal space.

Thankfully all ended well. It was very clear the two pets enjoyed each other company and Amenadiel’s owner also seemed to make peace with the situation eventually. Eun-ji was happy for them but it wasn’t necessarily in accord with her own plan. She has been trying to escape the moment she saw Samantha coming in. Still, she would feel bad if she took her furry companion away right now. Just a bit longer then. "Yes, I’m going." The witch confirmed, plain and simple. Should she ask the other girl if she was going too? That was what you were supposed to do, right? Eun-ji didn’t appreciate awkward silences but she also didn't want to give Sam any more reasons to think they were closer than they actually were. In all honesty, the answer could have been much longer. She could have said she wasn't planning to go this year despite her love for dancing because she didn't have a date. She made a promise to herself not to get too close to other people yet she was also afraid of going alone. Crowds without company could be quite overwhelming at times. Then Aaron asked if she would go with him and Eun-ji simply couldn't say no. The boy was one of the very few she could not refuse and selfishly wanted to keep close against all odds. He fit every check box in the "DON'T GET ATTACHED" category but she just couldn't bring herself to push him away. All this however, remained unsaid.

Aaron aside, the Ravenclaw needed to keep some distance with whoever she could and Sam definitely qualified. Not that it mattered too much... Eun-ji didn't doubt for a second that the second year would fill the silence with new information or additional questions. The girl was an absolute master when it came to being oblivious. She was not slow witted or anything, probably just too stubborn to accept any change in Eun-ji's attitude. It will be hard to shake this one off.

Before the summer Samantha had carefully listened to Eun-ji's every word, but now she was reluctant. Though the older girl started by saying Samantha was right, she knew something else was coming. The young girl didn't like to listen when people told her she was wrong, after all, they didn't know what they were talking about. Admittingly Eun-ji did make some good points, maybe she could start with pygmy puffs. Rushing in and screaming had been exactly what Samantha had wanted to do, but it was clear to her now that it wasn't the smartest thing to do, not that she would say that out loud.

A little twinkle appeared in Samantha's eyes when she heard Eun-ji was also going to the ball. Though the older girl could have asked her if she went too, it didn't bother Samantha. She could talk on her own just fine. "That's great! I am going as well, I am really looking forward to it. Maybe we will see each other at the ball and maybe we could even dance together. Wouldn't that be fun?" Yes, Samantha liked the idea of dancing with the older girl, whom she considered a friend.

She didn't leave any time for the older girl to answer her question before she continued talking. "Do you already know what you are wearing? I have this amazing dress." Samantha usually didn't care about her clothing, but this time it was different. A big grin appeared on her face as she continued talking. "I am going to wear a dress inspired by the ghostbusters! Do you know the ghostbusters? Have you watched the movie? The movie is really good!" It was her favorite movie of all time.

As Samantha rambled on, her pet had other interests. The little owl seemed to like his new friend and wanted to test him. Amenadiel's little claws moved at rapid speed, as the little owl moved a few feet away from the cat. When he was around a meter from Mordred, the owl stopped walking and turned around. It looked like the brown owl was waiting for his new friend to follow him.

Confirming that she was going to the ball brought in another flood of information and questions. Eun-ji expected as much but that didn’t mean she was happy about it. Should she have just said that she wasn’t going? No. If she wanted to give Mordred some time with his new friend, it was better to have something to talk about. Thankfully, Sam didn’t give her time to comment on the dancing inquiry. Eun-ji loved dancing and she asked Aaron to save her at least one but she wasn’t about to go and agree to dance with Sam as well. On the contrary, she was planning to avoid her during the event… or any other time for that matter. Overall, she was content with just letting the other girl ramble on while her furry companion played for a bit.

Unfortunately it would not stay that way forever. Eventually her housemate would ask a question that needed an answer. The witch barely stopped herself from sighing. “I’m sure grandmother will send me something.” She shrugged. This time she would not hope for her parents to come through. It didn’t happen last year so it would not happen this year either. She had to admit that she was low-key impressed with the younger one’s creativity though. “Yes, I do know the movie although it’s been some time since I’ve seen it. It is fun but I have other movies I’d rather rewatch if I have time.” That much was true. Eun-ji found the movie hilarious as a kid and she was still fond of it but it wasn’t necessarily included in her favourites.

While the two talked (granted Samantha did most of the talking), their pets seemed to be happily getting to know each other. The older girl would occasionally check on them but she was not worried. It was pretty clear Mordred was giving Amenadiel the upper hand during their interaction. He would always wait for the owl to make the first move. Even as the bird started moving away, the cat let him put some distance between them, simply watching and waiting. Only after his feathery friend turned around witch expectant look would he jump behind him and nudge him gently with his nose. It was obvious that he was set on following his new feathery friend as long as he allowed him to do so. Adorable...the Ravenclaw smiled to herself.

Eun-ji didn't seem as interested in what she was going to wear to the ball. The way the third year acted was the opposite of Samantha's behavior. The brunette was happily explaining about her dress, while the other just shrugged. It was the first time she noticed Eun-ji was behaving a little differently than the last time she had seen her, but Samantha was too excited to talk about her dress to pay attention to it.

A little twinkle appeared in Samantha's eyes as the older girl mentioned she knew the movie. "Who is your favorite ghostbuster?" she asked while bouncing from one foot to the other. She needed to know if she and Eun-ji saw eye to eye on this very important matter. Her favorite was Egon Spengler, but she wouldn't say that just yet. She didn't want to influence her friend's answer.

Only when Eun-ji mentioned rewatching movies that Samantha came up with a great idea. "Which other movies would you like to watch? Maybe we could watch them together sometime!" Pure happiness could be seen on the young girl's face as she proposed the idea. "During one of the school breaks we could hang out and watch a movie, we could also eat popcorn and chips and chocolate or something that you like. It's all possible!" It didn't matter to her what they would eat or what they would watch, as long as she could spend some more time with her amazing friend.

While Samantha was trying to convince her friend to hang out with her, the two animals were already doing that. After Amenadiel had turned around his new friend was quick to join him and gently nudge the little owl with his nose. Samantha had been way too busy to follow the interactions between the two animals and only noticed them when she saw Eun-ji smile.

Eun-ji had to search in her memory for a bit before she found the right name. She wasn’t lying when she said it has been some time since she’d last seen the movie. Nevertheless, her mind was pretty set on when it came to her favourite character. “Egon was his name I think.” She only realised her mistake once she gave her eager housemate the answer. Samantha was truly excited about this and she was giving her what she wanted. That would not bode well for her for sure. Unless…perhaps her choice would be disappointing to the younger girl? Either way, they were approaching a very dangerous territory.

Once her fellow Ravenclaw started talking about home visits, Eun-ji knew it was time to back out. This was NOT where she wanted the conversation to go. “I don’t really eat junk food.” She said almost immediately. It was not one hundred percent true. Sometimes, when she was stressed, the witch allowed herself to have some unhealthy Korean snacks but she was not about to share that information with Sam. “I’m also usually quite busy during summer.” She didn’t want to be mean about the offer so she chose somewhat diplomatic answer. If the girl didn’t take a hint, she would have to be more clear about the boundaries but for now this was good enough. Samantha would be disappointed for sure but she was doing it for her own sake so Eun-ji didn’t feel too guilty about it.

Sighing, the older checked on the two pets for the last time. They were obviously happy playing together and she felt bad separating them but she couldn’t stay any longer. “Look, I have some homework I need to submit tomorrow so I have to go. You go ahead and send your letter. I’m sure your parents are anxious to hear from you.” I’ll see you around, Eun-ji would usually say in these situations but she stopped herself just in time. She would no doubt see Sam around. They were from the same house so it was inevitable that they would but she didn’t want it to sound like an invitation. “Mordred, come on let’s go. I have work to do.” It was a lie of course. The witch never did her homework last minute. She was insanely diligent student but it was an excuse fit for a Ravenclaw. Mordred looked at his owner, clearly disappointed that he had part with his new friend but he would not disobey her. Meowing at Amenadiel as if saying goodbye he turned around and ran towards his human. He would never leave her side and today was no different…no matter how much fun he was having.

Samantha nodded approvingly, Eun-ji had great taste. "Yes! Egon Spengler is the best, I love him!" she said happily. "You have great taste, he is my favorite as well. I even got Spengler on my dress for the ball! I hope people will understand who it is and that they know ghostbusters." The big grin and little twinkles in her eyes that appeared when she was talking about her dress made it clear that the brunette was excited about the upcoming ball.

The idea of popcorn, chips, and chocolate sounded less appealing to the third-year student than the second. "No problem! I am sure my mom will buy something you like as long as it isn't too expensive and if she doesn't have time I can go to the shop and pay for it myself so you have something nice to eat," she said with a little smile. She would happily spend some money on her friend. Samantha liked to think of solutions and it seemed the other girl needed a lot of them. "It doesn't have to be in the summer break if you are busy, we can watch a movie together in the winter or spring break, and then I will make sure to have enough food you like." The brunette didn't see any problems at all.

Samantha was disappointed when the older girl told her she needed to do some homework. "Yeah, that was what I came here for anyway. Good luck with your homework," she told her friend with a little smile before she turned around to find Amenadiel. The little owl walked followed his new-made friend, who ran to his owner, for a little. Did the fun already have to end? "Amenadiel," Samantha called his name as she held out her hand, waiting for her pet to fly to her. However, the tiny animal didn't seem to be interested in his owner, as he ignored her calling and kept looking at his friend. A little annoyed, Samantha repeated his name and demanded her pet to come. "Amenadiel, come here." She loved her pet very much, but she wasn't in the mood for a disobedient owl. After the second time, he finally flew her way and landed on her hand and she started to pet him.

"Bye Caro-" she stopped herself. The older girl didn't want to be called that anymore, it was Eun-ji, Samantha reminded herself. "Sorry, I mean Eun-ji," she said with a little smile and waved to the older. "We will talk about watching a movie together when you have finished your homework, I am sure we will run into each other sometime again." Chatting with the older girl was an idea she liked very much, but now it was time for the letter to her parents.

Oh no… So on top of everything she actually liked the same character as Sam? It seemed like an important piece of information to the younger girl and Eun-ji wondered why she even said anything in the first place. She could have just replied that she didn’t have strong feelings toward any of the characters in particular. Well the damage was done and there was nothing she could do about it now.

In any case, it didn’t seem to matter with Samantha. Whatever reply Eun-ji gave, it was filtered according to the girl’s needs. It was both impressive and annoying skillset. She was more careful when answering about the movie watching but her subtle refusal didn’t really work on her housemate either. Instead of getting the hint she would just go ahead, thinking about alternatives in order to make the plan work out. Well…it wouldn’t but Eun-ji didn’t want to argue about the matter any longer. Perhaps she will forget about it eventually. Somehow the witch doubted that was the case but she could always hope, right?

At least if nothing else, her attempt to escape was successful. This time it was Sam’s owl that seemed to be the stubborn one but Eun-ji wasn’t angry with him. Mordred may have very well been his only animal friend right now so it was understandable that he didn’t want to part ways so soon. “Sorry buddy,” she apologized to the small bird. None of this was his fault. In fact, none of this was Samantha’s fault either. Eun-ji and her messed up family were entirely to blame. There was not much she could do about that however...staying away from others was her best option right now.
