Locked TABLE 9 | Sweethearts Tea Party V-Day Event

14th of February, 2022

Valentine's Day had finally arrived, a holiday that celebrated both the longing the heart felt for that special someone and the sweet offerings that accompanied the bittersweet experience that was romantic love. Though in recent years, the holiday had expanded its demographic and was now more inclusive of all different types of love. It was a wonderful excuse to remind those you love, no matter what kind of love that may be, just how important they are. It was also a great excuse to eat sweets and enjoy oneself, which was what three of Hogwart’s professors had in mind when they had hosted a Valentine’s tea party, and what better room to host it in than the arguably most romantic room in the castle?

Hogwarts' ballroom had always been grand, with its beautiful arched ceilings that were the home to several intricately designed chandeliers that dangled a family of beautiful crystals that almost seemed gilded in the way they reflected amber hues across the room. The professors had decorated the ornate carved stone walls and floors with an array of red, pink, and white roses. The theme carried throughout the ballroom, as an endless flow of flower petals seemed to dance and twirl through the air, only to land on the stone tiled floor and vanish.

Along the walls of the ballroom, dozens of white-clothed round tables had been set up for the students. The center of the table served as a home to a large of roses, varying in hues of red, and a pastry stand that held the sweets the students hard put their heart and souls into creating. Each table held between four to six place settings, complete with the occupants’ names. If the student had received any letters from their admirers, they would be piled next to the floral pattern plates.

The morning before the Tea Party, each student had received a letter requesting their presence. The letters were quite generic so aside from the student's name and table number, they each said the same thing:
Dear [Student's Name],

Your presence is requested at this year's Valentine's Tea Party. We will be serving a wide array of sweets that have been specially hand-crafted by a special someone, either romantic or platonic. The tea party will take place on February the 14th, at 18:00. The evening is certain to be full of fun and laughter.

A seat for you at TABLE NINE has been reserved. We hope to see you there.
‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿୨୧‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿

There was a particular irony to Table Nine, one that contributed to a larger conspiracy that the Professors were less interested in knitting bonds between their students and more so invested in fueling existing rivalries. On the right side of the ballroom, copper beams of watery light reflected from the chandeliers and brightened the various bouquets that livened the stone walls and flooring. In the air, it danced on the petals, and gave their stagnantly hovering state a further whimsical tone. All surrounding a table composed of contentions, affections, and what could've been (but no longer would be) innocent bystanders to the train wreck. The frightening magnet to violence @Vale Ashwood was paired with two she admired, who happened to disdain one another: @Avery Chen, the ambitious, and @Hildegard Schneider, the snake who turned her cowardice often into cruelty. Witnessing this mess were two students with some perceived fondness between them: Ravenclaw @Faye Simmons, and @Grace Montare, the optimist.

Hopefully no one would need to choose a side—perhaps the sweets would lighten the mood, as would the array of letters whose contents were a mystery to even those who thought they’d written them. Surely the professors hadn’t mixed any up, or needed to make any edits as the result of the stray bite of a hippogriff, right?
VALE:
Reducio
At Table Nine was the place card for Slytherin broom racer Vale Ashwood, and at this seat before her was a selection of desserts prepared with, ironically as a carrier of violence, her in mind. First, a chocolate cupcake with dark chocolate frosting, an artistic touch gracing it in the form of strawberries arranged to look like a spider. Beside that, a marble cupcake with cream cheese icing and sugar pearl topping sitting right next to a red velvet cupcake with buttercream icing and the very same toppings. An outlier among the mix, dark chocolate bark with a depiction of a reindeer: pretzel pieces formed the antlers, candies for the eyes and a red M&M for the iconic red nose. Next, a marbled cupcake, doused in citrus frosting and black sprinkles, adorned with candy eyes and a mouth of red gel icing. Finally, the selection closed with a vanilla cupcake housing a neat swirl of light pink, strawberry flavored icing.
I admire your aptitude for Potions and Herbology - perhaps we could study together one of these days. I would be interested in learning about the potions your family has created or improved.

Liana Kerr
Fairness with a backbone. Elegant and cool. Never quite met anyone like you, Ashwood. Don't think I ever will. Sorry, I was a mega brat. Thanks for wanting to be nice anyway.
- Lucky
I had a great time getting to know you better last fall! Somehow, I remember each moment spent with you being fun, one way or another. Here's to hoping for an even deeper friendship this year. Perhaps we can go to another ball together? I would love that. - Avery.
Vale, I hope this cupcake is creepy enough. It's Familia after eating people. I can't imagine you're a fan of Valentine's Day, but I tried!

Maggie
My dearest Vale,

Through the pitter-patter of the raindrops,
My mind can only drift to thoughts of you,
When I see your visage my heart does flops,
I must speak of love or let sorrow through.

Yours forever and ever,
Hildegard
AVERY:
Reducio
Avery Chen’s seat was a hotspot for desserts, evidently living in the heads of a lot of his peers. First, a collection of cupcakes with a large variety of flavors and vibrant frosting colors, evidently all from a single donor. Next, a merge of white and milk chocolate bark, shining in chandelier light with red edible glitter. There was a vanilla cupcake frosted with buttercream icing and sporting a drawing of a music note. Then, a pair of cupcakes, one red velvet with buttercream icing and sprinkles, and one cheesecake cupcake with whipped cream icing and topped with fresh strawberries for an additional natural sweet flavor. Adding to the surplus was another piece of white chocolate bark, contributing to Avery’s anticipated sparkle for days with more edible glitter and heart-shaped toppings. There was a carrot cupcake, frosted with cream crease icing, and bits of sliced almond forming a neat smiling face on its surface. The array ended with a marble flavored cupcake with peppermint icing and again, fresh strawberries on top of it. The letters associated with each gifted sweet were laying nearby, sorted respectively.
To my dear fellow Slytherin,

I had enough of all of our fights, see the truth is that I have a lot of problems dealing with my emotions. I cannot handle myself when I am around you and I always seem to mess up somehow. It would be a lie for me to say I regretted everything, however, as some of them were quite fun.

People say that boys often pull the ponytails of the girls they like, I think that is perhaps what I am doing to you. When you told me that no one liked me, it honestly broke my heart. It was a truth I did not want to hear, especially coming from you. You are the only person in this school I want to like me.

I have had enough of trying to understand my emotions. I want you to either ignore me or accept my feelings. Either way, this cupcake is an apology.

Love,
Hildegard.
Dear Avery,
Your respectful manner and charm have put somewhat of a spell on me.
Love,
Della
Your undying cheer is truly appreciated. Thank you for sharing it with us every day.

Liana Kerr
Hope there are no bad egg sandwiches on the horizon for you. You're loyal and that's cool. Sorry for what happened in the common room.

Thanks for going to the Fall Ball with me. It was quite lovely. Maybe we can go together again next year. Wanna come to my party during Easter break too?

HILDEGARD:
Reducio
Should Hildegard find her place at Table Nine, she’d discover a nice amount of desserts set aside for her near the decorative plates provided to each attendee. A cheesecake cupcake was topped with pink strawberry frosting, enhanced by the real strawberries that were spread across the top of the treat. Diabetes on a platter was beside this, a cupcake that was chocolate on chocolate on chocolate, from cake, to frosting, to toppings. Finally, a red velvet cupcake with cream cheese icing complimenting its scarlet color, and a dash of multi-colored sprinkles bringing a certain vibrancy to the treat. Beside her food were the letters associated with each.
Hilda, I don't think you like me much. Maybe you'll like my cupcake better.

Maggie Hawkins
You make it clear to all those who you define as an enemy, that they have a reason to think as such. So cool! But, isn't it a bit lonely? I think it is. You should come to my party during Easter break! There'll even be cake!
- Vale Ashwood
Hilda,

I know we often fight, but I want to take the time to express myself. Whenever you are mean to me I can see the truth deep down. I know that you are jealous of the time I spend with others. I think you may have a crush on me, and I want you to know it is okay, because I have one on you too.

-Avery
GRACE:
Reducio
Grace Montare’s place at the table was hardly a reflection of the profound optimism she was known for, as an innocent dessert was accompanied by a card that raised many questions. It was a mere chocolate cupcake, sweet as could be, a charming spiral of dark chocolate icing stretching from its surface and doused in white sprinkles in each crevice. Near the desert was the accompanying card, signed with no name and hardly an intention to be read between the lines.

FAYE:
Reducio
A bizarre scene was awaiting Faye at her seat at Table Nine. Like one of her peers, the first-year eagle was given a single dessert, one with no proud donor, or at least not to any extent that they’d claim responsibility over the creation in their accompanying card. This was a chocolate cupcake set aside her place card, topped with a dark chocolate icing swirl and white sprinkles that shone from every centimeter of its dark surface. The card lay nearby, providing few answers.

RULES AND NOTES:
1. This is an official event, but threads will not be moderated unless necessary. Meaning that if students start to cast spells or physically attack someone, one of the professors participating will step in. If this is the case, the thread will be moderated as needed.
2. There will be additional surprises. Every few weeks a moderator will post in your thread to describe said 'surprise'. Surprises for each table may vary.
3. The site rules still apply. We understand things can get a little hectic, but please try to keep the site's rules and rating in mind. It is also important to keep in mind that there is a table full of professors at the event, so be mindful of IC rules.
4. The letters have been mixed up. As stated in the original sign-up form for this event, the letters that have been sent have been mixed up due to a mishap. There were also letters that the professors had to rewrite. A few can even be from faceless NPCs even. We are not trying to godmod players, the main point is to stir up some drama.
MOD NOTE: This is a reminder to please not meta-game. There is some information your character would have no way of knowing. It is fine to say your character knows X didn't write this letter to Y because your character has received a note/owl from them before and recognizes their handwriting, but your student has no way of knowing how exactly the letters were mixed up or who is to blame. They also would not know what is written in a letter without opening it. This is considered meta-gaming and we ask that you do not do this as it ruins the fun for others involved.

WHAT IS META-GAMING?
This is a term we use when writers use their real-life knowledge of a subject/situation and somehow allow their character to know without their character properly gaining the information. For example, you may know that a character is a werewolf because you read their biography/ency and somehow, despite never meeting said character, your character knows they are a werewolf.

Please note that this is just a general statement and we are not pointing fingers at any one individual.

Invitation in hand, Avery sauntered into the ballroom. Much to his surprise, the entire hall had been decorated in red, white, and pink roses. An effervescent breeze seemed to carry petals as they danced towards the floor, only to disappear without further trace. All in all, the decorations contributed to a very festive, lovely mood, as if only good cheer, joy and love could be found within the ballroom's walls.

Light chatter filled the room, as students waved to each other and looked for their assigned tables. Avery waved to a few classmates here and there, wondering who he would find at... what was it? -- dark brown eyes glanced down at the invite: Ah, table nine. His small frame approached the empty table. It seemed that he was the first to arrive, which was really quite rare. He was certainly a tardy sort of boy, but today his curiosity and excitement to see who had sent him notes had gotten the best of him.

He quickly found a pile of treats addressed to him, and didn't wait for the others to arrive before tearing into the pile. His eager hands picked up a packet of white chocolate bark, decked to the brim with sparkles, glitter, and heart-shaped candies? Someone seemed to really go overboard with this one. Like, really. As if they were the sickly-cheery and dramatic type who vomited sparkles and hearts all over this already overly-sweet chocolate. He glanced at the extremely long letter attached to it, then squinted at the text to look again. Were his eyes swimming? Did the letters re-arrange themselves into an odd language he didn't understand? Slowly, he began to read it out loud -- just to make the words more legible in his mind -- but his lips soon cramped over the exorbitant number of 'w's so that he was making frozen kissy-lips forevermore. Those darn uwus. Who could possibly send such an atrocious thing in a wild expression of love? ...@Hanako Tone. As soon as his eyes glanced over the name at the end, he huffed and snorted, spitting out the white chocolate he had unconsciously bitten into. Obviously, this was some joke. For all he knew, Hanako only loved tormenting him, and probably just wrote this letter to destroy his eyes and lips. Hanako having romantic feelings for him would be just as likely as his tapeworm of a pet having feelings for Avery: obviously nil, considering how many dead rats she tried to stuff under his door.

He tried to un-purse his lips but couldn't. Blasted letter. It would be wholly embarrassing if someone found him making kissy-lips at Hanako's letter right now, but he really couldn't undo the cramping.

───── Faye was definitely having second thoughts about this 'tea party' taking place in the Great Hall that day. She disliked large social gatherings (She nearly peed herself at that weird sorting ceremony, all those people!) but, on the other hand, she really wanted to make friends. So, here she was, skipping down the Hogwarts hallways in her yellow dress with pink tulle, waving at every single person she encountered whether she knew them or not, earning a few weird looks and death stares.

She entered the Great Hall and froze, mouth open wide as she gazed inside. The massive room was literally covered with roses in the traditional colours of Valentine's Day: pink, red and white. But the best thing about them was that they would completely vanish when they hit the floor. Completely. Vanish. She stood staring at them falling from the ceiling and disappearing for a solid five minutes, before making her way over to her table. The invitation that she had received told her that she would find her place at Table Nine, so she wandered over. When she arrived she saw that there was already someone sat there, a boy who looked the same age as her and dressed consequently more casual than she was. Great, she'd already messed up. The boy had his lips puckered as he read a letter.

"Are you alright? Why are your lips like that? Do these sweets do that?!" Faye stared at the boy with wide eyes, looking down at the chocolate cupcake at her place card with a petrified look on her face.

SOMETHING HAS HAPPENED!
@Vale Ashwood | @Avery Chen | @Hildegard Schneider
| @Faye Simmons | @Grace Montare
As the students settled into their seats and confusion began to take over as they scanned the contents of their 'letters', some might notice several pale pink roses start to descend seemingly from the ceiling. The same hue as the petals floating through the air, these roses would gracefully glide downwards and land in front of someone at eight different tables; tables: 2, 3, 4, 8, 10, 11, 13, and 15.

Tables 1, 5, 6, 7, 9, 12, 14, and 16 would not receive any roses (yet), but they would not go without entertainment. It was from his position at the teacher's table that Orion would stand up and clear his throat, "Welcome students, thank you for attending our tea party! I have hopes to make this an annual event." If only the French man was aware of the chaos he had rained down upon the crowd of youngsters. He had not slept the night before after scrambling to try and correct his errors. The dark circles under his eyes might have been noticeable to anyone sitting close enough to him. "I'm sure you've noticed the roses by now. If you've received a rose that means you are now a bachelor or bachelorette, which means you get to help spread a little love around." His face broke into a smile as if this were a simply sublime idea. With the romantic heart Orion possessed, he likely believed it.

"If you did not receive a rose, do not worry mes amies (my friends), you will get an opportunity soon. Until then we are going to offer you an opportunity to show your love. This means that you can ask us to dedicate a song to a special someone in the crowd, or make an announcement to your peers. The choice is, of course, yours to make." The students received a playful wink before Orion sat back down at the table.

The students might notice the soothing sounds of the harp starting to play from the back corner of the ballroom. There was a shutter that blocked the view of who or how many people were playing. Whilst they would not see her, they could hear the Slytherin head of house, Hjørdis Jensen, had started to strum a harp to help set the mood.

Until people started to request songs, she would simply play random songs that she was pretty sure that the children would enjoy on the harp. Honestly, what did children listen to these days? She had no idea. But she was evidently trying in the fact that she had bothered to learn how to play all of these, specifically for this occasion.

It just so happened that occasionally, another instrument - such as a fiddle or guitar - could be heard in the background too, randomly chipping in. The sound of notes hit the air. It was not too loud but it could easily be heard throughout the ballroom if one stopped to listen for it. It almost complemented the chatter. [Click the music note for the actual playlist]

Confession Time!

Characters at your table have the ability to step beneath the spotlight and make a confession or dedicate a song to someone this round. To make a spotlight speech, simply have your character announce they wish to confess. You can lightly godmod Orion casting Lumos Duo on your character. Have them say what they wish to announce in your RP post, and make sure to tag the mod in charge of your table. Staff will post the confession into each thread (so keep in mind the entire ballroom will gain IC knowledge of what you are saying).

To request a song, simply owl the moderator of your thread with the song title, who it is going to, and what the message is. You will need to roleplay your character doing as much (you can simply say they took time to write a request down). Please keep IC rules in mind as if your character insults someone there could be IC repercussions.

----By the time Vale came in her typical dark attire, it appears people were already getting settled. She didn't let this change her perkiness, hurrying along to find the table assigned to her person. To her eagerness, she found Avery already set next to her seat. She made a smile that she wasn't placed with people she didn't know. Not like it would bother her, but usually new people end up looking at her in disgust and horror. How rude; there is nothing wrong with discussing finger nails and bones!

Just as Vale made it to her assigned seat, she only came to realize another person was at the table as well. With Vale's decent recalling skills, she was sure she saw the girl. Maybe in a hallway, or in a class together. Whatever it was, Vale chirped out her usual greetings of flowers and sunshines.

"Greetings! Vale Ashwood, at your service! May all your enemies' have their eyes plucked out and ate by crows! Hey Avery!" She made a courtesy bow in her black gown, a polite yet grotesque form of introduction. A form of greeting that prehaps only friends would be used to involving the young Ashwood. She kept her smile, unbothered by everything as usual in her fearless manner.

Vale moved to sit down at her seat after, looking to see there were letters given to her. It made her blink, expecting only a empty area for her to eat others' treats when she politely asks (and hoped they did). She didn't waste any time, opening one letter already; Maggie's.

She read its small content gingerly and her already wide smile nearly overtook her whole face. "Aw Maggie! What a lovely letter! I shall keep this close to my heart!" Without further hestiation, the young girl immediately shoved the letter down her mouth. Slight crunching could be heard as she ate the paper away like it was the cupcake noted in writing.

As she ate the letter away quite happily, barely noting the panic sounds from the other girl at the table about Avery's kissing face. Was he practicing his kissing? How adorable. She hoped it was for an alligator. Those poor things don't ever get enough love.

She would only stop her snacking on rather inedible items when she noticed roses slowly falling down in the area. But her table was left untouched, she noted. Damn, she can't snack on one quite yet. She heard they were delicious in cuisine. As the announcement was over from her DADA professor, she would be happily paying attention back to her own table.

"Avery, you're scaring our new friend. Maybe you should learn to kiss alligators later. I don't think there's any here anyway." She already swallowed down Maggie's letter, no care of the decorations that maybe make her bowels full of glitter in the evening. "Who sent the letter? Was it an actual gator? Is that why you're practicing to kiss one?" She bounced on her seat, excited to hear from the young boy of its content. She hoped he was willing to spill its sender; gators! They can write now? What a evolution!

───── Faye noticed that another person had approached the table and spun around to thoroughly examine her. She realised that she was within the dress code as the new girl was dressed in a very pretty if not dark black dress, it clashed with her pastel, pretty one in a good way. She didn't recognise her, but she could have seen her before in passing. Faye didn't really notice people unless something big happened. However, what the girl said next scared her.

"Oh, god no! I would never wish that on anyone! Miss Ashwood, are you alright?" She'd read Pride and Prejudice before coming to Hogwarts and found it hilarious how everyone always referred to eachother as 'Miss' or 'Mr' so she'd tried it out on Vale. She didn't know if her and Vale could become friends after her strange wishes. Did she even have any enemies?

Slightly disturbed after her interaction with Vale, Faye decided to sit down at the seat where it told her to sit, right next to the boy with his lips puckered in such a weird way she scrunched her nose. She didn't attempt to eat the chocolate dessert, fearful of what it would do to her after what it had done to Avery, who she now knew the name of after staring at his place card.

It seemed Vale was even stranger than she thought she was (that's rich coming from Faye) as when she looked down from the beautiful roses raining down upon her table she witnessed the girl scoffing a letter. With her mouth agape and her eyes wide, she stared at her, wondering what was going through her mind.

"I," She struggled to get the words out "I know you said you'd keep it close to your heart but I didn't know you meant inside.."

Locked TABLE 9 | Sweethearts Tea Party V-Day Event
Dialogue: #20528c | Outfit: X | Hearts banner code by Winnie Harper
Wandering into the Great Hall, Grace started to get nervous, similar to the way she felt when they crossed the Lake on those boats at the beginning of the year. Her stomach was turning and she could feel her face heating up, and there was definitely a bit of nausea sneaking its way up. She stopped walking, shook her head to get the negative thoughts out, and took a deep breath. In, out. In, out. In, out…

She dusted off and patted out the wrinkles in her skirt – honestly, she had so much respect for people who wore these all the time. She had pulled it out of her closet in hopes of looking cute for this fun occasion, but was the discomfort really worth it? – and continued to her assigned table.

She only recognized one student who was already there, Faye, a friendly fellow Ravenclaw she’d met ice skating at the Lake. The other two who were already here were unfamiliar to Grace, but she supposed that’s why she signed up for this in the first place.

The Slytherin girl who was already seated was discussing something with Faye, something about… sorry, did she say alligators?

And the other Slytherin sitting at Table 9 was making a strange puckering face like he’d just eaten a handful of sour candy.

What in the world had Grace signed up for?

She greeted everyone at the table with a polite, “Hi, all. I’m Grace Montare, Ravenclaw. It’s…” she hesitated a bit, then continued. “It’s a pleasure to meet you.”

She sat down on the other side of Faye and found a single cupcake addressed to her. Strange, she thought. She definitely didn’t think she knew anyone well enough for them to send anything. Opening the card, she read:
Reducio
Flavour the sweet taste of revenge
-Unknown

Uh. What? Grace knew she hadn’t really made many friends, but enemies? Her breathing got quicker again, and she could feel her cheeks flushing. She closed the card quickly and pushed the cupcake a little further away, nervous that it might be poisoned or something.

“I know you said you’d keep it close to your heart, but I didn’t know you meant inside…” Faye was saying to the other girl. What was happening?

Grace blinked a few times, finding the courage to ask, “I’m sorry, I don’t know you very well. What do you mean ‘inside’? They are sweets, they should go inside… right?”

In the midst of reading Hanako's atrocious letter, a girl in a pink and yellow tulle dress approached the table. "Are you alright? Why are your lips like that? Do these sweets do that?!" she exclaimed, obviously horrified by the possibility. He slammed the letter onto the table more suddenly and viciously than he planned, and quickly pressed the back of his right hand gingerly to his lips in an attempt to massage them back to normal.

"Oh! Uh-" he began uncertainly, cheeks flushed at the fact that some girl he didn't even know by name found him puckering at Hanako's letter as if he were about to kiss the darn thing, or if his face actually looked like that on a normal basis. "No no no," he responded hurriedly, "I'm sure all the sweets are fine. This chocolate bark that came with the letter tasted bad, but it's just the fault of the crazy person who made it. In fact, I have all too many sweets." He glanced at the box of six cupcakes that came with another letter, in addition to five other cupcakes and two other chocolate barks he had received. "If I were to eat eleven cupcakes myself, I think I might actually get sick. Would you like one..." he peered at the girl's placecard, "...Faye? Please help a classmate out?" He held out a cupcake to Faye from the box of assorted ones, without looking at who it was actually from (Hildegard Schneider).

Soon enough, he turned his head to a familiar, horrific greeting that could only come from the likes of fellow Slytherin and friend Vale Ashwood. "Hey Vale!" he greeted her with a similarly cheery response. "Don't I get a petrifying greeting as well?" he asked, as if deeply offended, but only the grin and raised brows that came with the question would signify that he was joking along. To her suggestion that he practice kissing alligators later, Avery chuckled. Of course, only the fearless Vale Ashwood would think that the alligators in her family pond deserved kisses. "Well, I think it's a real serpent who sent this letter," he replied, looking at Hanako's uwu atrocity. "You know, Hanako? The guy who scared me with his large tapeworm and broke Hildegard's music device? But Vale, Faye, can you guys take a look at this letter and tell me what you make of it? Like, he can't possibly have a crush on me, right?" He'd heard that some boys liked to bully and make fun of people they secretly crushed on, so could it possibly be the case with Hanako Tone? He held out the elaborately-written letter for them to see.

Avery's attention turned to another girl as she approached the table, introducing herself as Grace Montare. Without skipping a beat, Avery tried to catch her eye and recruit her to the letter code-breaking process as well. "Grace! I'm Avery, nice to meet you! First things first, can you help me out, too? I'm trying to figure out whether the person who wrote this letter actually has a crush on me or not." He indicated towards the heart-filled letter. What a mystery... "And oh! Please have one of my cupcakes! There's too many to go around." He took one out from the same box of six (Hildegard's), offering it to the girl, hoping to make some new friends at the tea party as well. However, he was fully unaware of the disgusting rat-tails and newt's eyes that Schneider had hidden within the sumptuous treats.

He picked up another letter, and began to read.
Dear Avery,
Your respectful manner and charm have put somewhat of a spell on me.
Love,
Della
...Another love note? As his eyes fell upon the name of @Della Barfield, his eyes bulged, and he quickly turned the letter upside down on the table in front of him, hoping no one else had noticed. He couldn't believe his eyes and refused to do so -- the ball date of his best friend Hui Ming, having a crush on him? His heart sank for Ming, and he began to sweat. What was he to do? He saw Della wave to him from another table, and caught her eye with a stunned look before quickly looking away, as if he was horribly occupied by another note. No, there was no way he could face her now, before he came up with an action plan to dissuade her from liking him, and to like Ming instead. He had no intention on being a third wheel.

The next one was a note from @Lucinia Thawin. He racked his brain for a second, trying to remember who this was, before a light went off in his head. Ah! Wasn't she the girl who had told them off in September for speaking too loudly in the common room? The one that Ming had so mercilessly berated? For a moment, Avery was touched and felt a small pang of guilt. How Lucinia had thought about them, wanting to make amends even after so much time, was quite considerate of the girl. He smiled as he admired her cupcake, hoping to catch her later to thank her and apologize for laughing at Ming's comments about her. His mood lifted slightly after his initial nerves around Della's love note. "Vale, look what Lucinia sent me! That's so nice of her, actually."

Hilda was sitting there the whole time, her crutches laid on the back of her chair. almost invisible as she was down. Recently things were not going so well, lack of friends, fights with her mom, Walter not liking her anymore and so on.
Her interior self was reflecting on her outside, she was wearing black gothic clothes with the accessories that went with it, skirt, tights, chains and so on.
There was dark circles under her eyes, as she was not able to sleep well, after all today was a day she was hoping to enjoy.
She knew it was today that she may be able to get a good big revenge on Avery Chen after all.
Hildegard was remembering how genius she was with her ingredient's choice :
-Rat tail
-Troll's armpit's hair
-Troll's mucus
-Earthworm

And many more, but the one she was the most proud of was none other thanRat pee.
All those ingredient mixed with the chocolate she considered it the peak of her wicked mind.
The only thing she regretted was that the message she addressed to herself was lost, the one about enjoying her revenge, but no one would be able to guess what was going to happen with just that piece of paper, or so she believed.
She greeted everyone at once while she was reading the few letters she had received.

-Hello everyone.

Her eyes stepped upon a letter wrote by Avery, and when she finished reading it, it was as if poured cold water on her to wake her up from her semi-sleeping state.

-WHAT THE FUCK She screamed internally.

On the meantime she saw Avery give her cutcake to Faye,

-THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING the Slytherin girl thought completely destabilized.

No way... She added when Grace recieved the cupcake too.

How does this ****** of a ****** knows about the cupcakes ?! No ! He must not ! Otherwise he would not have given them ! But this letter he gave me is so suspicious too ! Does he really believe I have a crush on him ?! What the fuck Gong face ?! At least you could have given them to Vale ! That creep would probably find this shit I made tasty ! And then you'd eat it !

Hilda was panicking, she believed that if Grace or Faye ate the cupcake first the ingredient would be revealed and Avery would never eat it.

She looked at them, deep inside she was feeling bad, not for Avery, Grace or Faye but for the chocolate that was forced to be bind with rat pee and other ingredients.

She was thinking of a way for neither Grace or Faye to eat the cupcakes, at least before Avery did.

- Don't you know that eating other people's chocolate and cupcake on Valentine's day give massive misfortune ? These were not intended for you after all. She told the group of table 9 with a whiny voice and German accent.

----Vale had never felt so more excited than to see Hildegard sitting at the same table as her. It was like a dog wagging it's tail. It would go even faster seeing Hildegard's new taste in fashion. Why, did she wish to be a fashion buddy to Vale? Was she there to watch Vale broom racing as promised? She did badly, but surely Hildegard think she was still cool flying fast and high on her broom?

"Hildegard, how horrifying to see you! Oh, how are you? Did you see my match? I got a head injury, you see. But it was fine after since I had alchemy club the same day, and-" Vale stopped, looking at the two Ravenclaws who expressed some form of concerns for Vale's greetings and behavior.

"Me? Oh, I am quite fine! Murderous and eager for bloodshed! I'm very...quaint? That word, yes. Of course, on the inside! Where else do you place such wonderful, breath-taking messages?"

The young girl paused in her letter eating and her quick speed of answering questions, turning her eyes to the revealed letter given to her by Avery. In all honesty, Vale knew nothing of the boy besides he has a supposed giant tapeworm pet and that his ability to commit destruction was terrifyingly impressive. She was almost jealous, but in all fairness, his writing skills probably were equal to that of a troll's. Maybe he was a troll? Did they let trolls join the school's student body?

Maybe Vale should sniff around and see at some point.

But now Avery gifted her an answer of what this Hanako Tone guy was. Apparently a serpent. Now that's even more questionable. How did it hold a wand? Can a serpent cast magic? Maybe she'll ask her papa by mail later. A serpent, writing letters also!

"Well, a serpent can write and cast magic in theory. Anything's possible, Avery!" She chirped her advice on the situation. Vale wasn't sure why, but she felt a touch wary over the idea of a serpent liking Avery in such a way. What if he eats him? Then she would have one less friend. Surely they're given an adequate diet here at the school.

When Hildegard spoke up about misfortunes and intentions, Vale turned excited.

"Misfortune! Such dread! You are kind to spread such a thing, Avery! May your enemies waver in fright from your heinous nature!" Vale assumed eagerly that Hildegard was not lying about such a fact. How delightful! Hildegard was truly a smart girl. "How kind of you to note, Hildegard! I shall eat it post-haste!" Vale hopped over the table practically to obtain the treat. Either way, Avery was cruel to offer his own delightful treats, especially if it can cause misfortunes when eating!

She immediately chopped down onto one of the cupcakes amongst the group, nearly swallowing it whole, except for when she spit out the cupcake wrapper. Her mama told her stuff like that is inedible, and besides...

Vale didn't care for the taste of wrappers anyway. No flavor, and too much texture. Her mouth was full of the mysterious cupcake she helped herself to. "Oh! Delicious! Instead of allowing sugar to be the crown of the cupcake, there's a surprise with...is that meat? Oh, I didn't know that we could use meat for our cupcakes! I also taste something acidic. I can not describe it, but the texture was wonderful!"

Vale would stop her eating to read the letter Lucinia gave to Avery. She made a large smile, remembering the girl back in their study group that happened earlier for their school year. "Luicina! A fireball she was! You think she'll help us with studying again?"
