Seated with @Haley Rose, @AngelFyre McCubbin, and @Della Barfield. Open to other interactions.

He didn't think too much on it when Haley didn't greet him; after all she was busy greeting the newest one to join their table - right? AngelFyre had greeted him and he appreciated that but he didn't want to risk looking over at her and having his gaze linger a little too long or his eyes light up a little too much. No, if he looked over to AngelFyre, Haley was going to know. Little did he know; Haley already knew.

He waited and he waited and he waited. Simon just watched the blonde across the table and hoped she'd look up or say something. How long could he keep just staring forward? Finally the Professor for the Defense Against the Dark Arts, Professor Orion Lécuyer, began to speak and welcomed everyone to the Valentine's Day Tea Party. Simon pulled his focus from Della Barfield and turned his chair so the could face the direction where the professor was. Welcome, roses, helping to spread the love.

He watched as roses magically floated down from the ceiling of the Ballroom. Simon glanced up and saw one float down close to their table, but it was landing to the person on the other side of the table - the same one who held most of his focus just minutes before. Oh, Della. That was getting put on the spot! He hoped she was going to have someone in mind to give it to and help spread the love and it wouldn't seem too awkward for her. She was one of the friends he was exploring magic with, but coming around to talking about matters of the heart was something yet to be explored.

As he watched, one of the roses came and floated down right in front of his place setting, landing directly in front of his place card. There was no doubt that it was intended for him and not for Haley and not for AngelFyre. Simon picked it up slowly, already feeling impending doomed, and began to read the note.

Kiss your valentine.

Give them the flower.

It all sounded so simple and yet it was anything but. Simon had been dating Haley for over a year and while some things about their relationship were great, there was a trust that had been broken for some time and had been difficult to repair. Pair that situation with a new girl that was capturing his attention and you already had a boy who was planning on ending things with his current girlfriend to see how things were going to go with another girl.

But it couldn't be now. No. It had to be AFTER Valentine's Day. He couldn't be so cruel. Simon slowly turned the flower in his hand to examine it but not so much to really look at it but just to give him a moment. He was sure that AngelFyre was probably watching him and he didn't want to hurt her. He didn't want to hurt EITHER of them! Still, the decision seemed pretty clear as to who he had to give it to.

Simon turned some to his right, the flower out in one hand and extended out to the redhead. He leaned in, hating to do this to AngelFyre who was right on the other side of him, he let his lips come to Haley's and pressed his against hers, pulling back rather quickly. "A beautiful rose for a beautiful Rose," he whispered. Perhaps the action was so quick and the words so low to try and prevent the broken heart of the girl next to him. It probably wasn't because it was a public display of affection, because Simon Kincaid never shied away from those before.

Be kind to one another. (*iNPC is Miles Thatcher)

With Simon's smushed cupcake and the much better preserved letter in hand, along with the pink flower in my hand I walked over to the table Simon was sitting at just in time to see him kiss Hailee so I set my stuff down at an empty seat whose place card read Scarlett and once Simon said "A beautiful rose for a beautiful Rose.", I slowly clapped my hands four times while trying my best to cry with a smile on my face, the type of smile parents have when their children get married. Well, I almost succeeded and there was a small tear in my eye so I wiped it away before saying "Beautiful, absolutely beautiful." I sniffed a few times and then I had stopped acting and switched over to my usual cheerful mood, a mood not everyone at the table seemed to share and in fact, it felt the opposite of cheery in here. For one, Angel looked like she wanted to be anywhere but here, Simon didn't look like he wanted to be here either, Hailee looked like she was angry at someone, and the girl whose place card read Della looked like a bit uncomfortable with whatever had been going on here.

"Aw c'mon guys, what's with the mood? It was literally Simon's birthday yesterday and we actually stayed up till two a.m. celebrating at his afterparty. That was a lie since no one in their sane mind would want to attend an after party at Hogwarts because those things cause lot's of noise and nobody wants to get caught by a prefect or a professor, but that's besides the point, the point being that the cupcake and letter meant for the Simon sitting at this table was delivered to the Simon sitting at my table, and it's lucky for me that he actually wished me good luck with my flower before I left but we'll come back to that later, and since this stuff was misdelivered I've decided to come and deliver these items personally." I then slid the napkin containing the cupcake, as well as the letter over to Simon and decided to apologize for the cupcake before he asked about it: "And for the record, I'm sorry that the cupcake is kinda smushed, that was the other Simon's doing back before he knew it was meant for you and now I should also mention that I wanted Simon to be my valentine minus the kiss since he's one of the only people I'd be willing to be paired up with and I don't want Professor Lecuyer to pair me up with someone I didn't know, but I guess the other Simon really meant it when he wished me good luck because of all other tables, this is the one AF is seated at so I might as well as her to be my valentine,"

I then turned to look at Angel before continuing by saying "unless you're not in the mood because you look like you want to get up from your seat and run as far as you can from the lot of us and that's me included since I don't really think that I'm improving the situation but correct me if I'm wrong. It also says here to kiss your valentine and give them your rose but we can skip the kiss part if you're not up to it, but if you are then I'd be more then happy to do so although I'd really hope that it doesn't make things awkward later on." I then looked up at the rest of the people at the table and said: "Man, I'm really screwing this up aren't I? I mean, to be fair, I don't have much experience in this area and I still have a lot to learn so I'm hoping Simon's luck is still in effect, otherwise I'm screwed."

Yeah, I probably was, I mean, I could only imagine how awkward I had just made the relationship between myself and Angel, and it's not like I had even tried to prevent it. I mean, sure I had managed to change her mood the first time we met, but that wasn't at all guaranteed with how she had looked like when I came and to be honest, at this point I was expecting nothing less then a big fat no accompanied my a whole essay about how I ruined her evening even more then it was already ruined after I had decided to come over and give him the stuff I had made for him yesterday, but let's be honest, I was pretty much asking for it at this point with everything I had said so far.

TABLE 3 | Sweethearts Tea Party V-Day Event

Just when AngelFyre thought this night could not possibly throw any more curve balls her way, she found out otherwise in a series of rapid-fire events that left her speechless. She was convinced every single person at Table 3 had been placed under a curse. It would explain so much, honestly. She had heard of love potions. Clearly that was not the cause of anything going on here tonight, at least not at her table. If she had been attending this event in the Muggle world, she would have thought they were all on Candid Camera. She almost looked for the hidden cameras, but this was Hogwarts and that Muggle technology would not work here, so…no point, really.

After Simon made it to the table, he was quickly dismissed by Haley, but AngelFyre saw the fire in those green eyes of hers. Her hopes that anything she had confessed to Haley possibly easing the way for Simon and his girlfriend quickly evaporated into the ether. Yep. Haley definitely had the look of a woman scorned; one who was going to leave this place razed to the ground, and at least one, if not two, of the people at the table incinerated at the top of the ash heap.

Then AngelFyre could not but help notice that after greeting Simon, he paid her about as much attention as Haley had paid him, sans the murderous look. That was a nice touch on his part, she supposed. Should she be grateful for the tender mercies? Pfffft Yet more proof that the feelings were one-sided. If Haley could just get over her anger for two seconds, she would have seen just how inconsequential and non-threatening AngelFyre was to her relationship. Perhaps she should be more concerned about Della Barfield. He was apparently in an awful hurry to turn his laser-beam focus onto the platinum blonde. Oooookaaay then. Earlier than expected, and from a completely different quarter than AngelFyre would have imagined, but she was pretty certain she felt the first small sting of the band-aid being s l o w l y pulled off. She could not even catch a break on that score it would seem. Fine. Perhaps she deserved the slow, excruciating removal of her hopes and dreams. Maybe the pain of it would stay with her longer. Maybe the lesson would sink in better that way. But what was the lesson here, exactly? Never lose your heart to someone? What a cruddy lesson on Valentine’s Day.

While she was pondering that wretched thought for a minute or so, Professor Lécuyer made an announcement about Bachelors and Bachelorettes and something to do with roses and spreading the love. At this point, AngelFyre had been withdrawing into herself and actually did not hear much of what had been said, but she found her interest was suddenly piqued when two pink roses descended from the ceiling, one each in front of Della and Simon. Dang it, AF! What had she missed? Why had she not been paying attention?!? She turned her attention to Simon who was fidgeting with the rose and looking down at the table like a child who had been scolded. What the heck was going on? And just what was the matter with him anyway? Did he know about the conversation she had had with Haley? Did he have some mental telepathy powers as a Dhampir she was unaware of and was upset with her for bringing this craziness into his relationship on this of all nights…. his 13th birthday and Valentine’s Day.

Who knew, but as she was talking herself out of the mental telepathy train of thought, she was caught completely off guard as Simon extended the rose to Haley and kissed her, right on the lips and right in front of everyone. He whispered something to her after the kiss, AngelFyre was pretty certain, but she could not hear what it was and it did not matter anyway. It was none of her business for one thing, but even more importantly, AngelFyre was pretty certain that completely NUMB feeling she was currently experiencing is what ripping that pesky little band-aid off felt like.

Before she could even begin to process what she had just witnessed, let alone how she felt about it, she heard Dave’s voice speaking about how beautiful a couple Simon and Haley were. Wait. Why was she hearing Dave? He was seated at another table she was pretty certain. AngelFyre shook her head and looked over to the direction from which she thought she heard his voice. Sure enough, there he was, looking particularly dapper in his celebratory attire, holding a letter, a napkin, and, oh heavens to Mergatroyd, was that another pink rose? He was standing by an empty chair and talking about misdirected cupcakes and letters and the Simon at this table getting our Simon’s goodies. That appeared to be the real theme of the night…not love, but incompetence. Then, Dave being Dave, was going on about Simon being one of the only people he would want to be his Valentine, minus the kiss? Again, what? Did she hear that correctly? All circuits officially short-circuited in her brain and she was no longer processing anything going on or being said. She was fully convinced this is what a mental breakdown must look and feel like. Then she was suddenly aware that all had gone quiet, and everyone was looking at her.

Having no idea what had just been said, she figured Dave had asked to be seated at the table, and so she said, “Of course. That would be lovely,” with an unmodulated degree of enthusiasm while she tried her best to give a welcoming smile as she worked desperately to erase the vision of Simon kissing Haley.

This was going to be a drama. Not only the new insight Haley made, but also what the evening would bring. The situation was tense and even a blind man could have seen that. The tension was in the atmosphere. She knew it herself, AngelFyre knew it, at least in part, and Simon would sooner or later realise what was going on and everyone else at the table was collateral damage. But it was all still early days, no one knew what was to come. Would Haley be able to keep her temper under control? Would Haley and Simon break up here tonight in front of everyone? One of the most famous former lovebirds, who were even unofficially married. Would Simon confess his feelings AF today, and most importantly, would the letters that only the recipient knew what was written in them become an issue today? Come time, come advice.

As if the feeling of "I'm in a bad movie" couldn't get any worse for all concerned it was now up to Mister Casanova to kiss his Valentine. A task that was only revealed to him and all Haley could observe was how his brain was working. He was thinking, but she didn't know about what. For the moment. But it didn't take too long until the moment that brought clarity back to the situation for the redhead. It was a kiss and Haley was sure that Simon had racked his brains beforehand about whether he should really give Haley a kiss. But there it was. The last kiss. Haley thought for a moment about blocking it, but she did not. She let him come close but she didn't return the kiss, anyway it was just a quick peck on the lips coupled with words that Haley couldn't resist. She couldn't believe he was telling her that. She couldn't stifle a contemptuous laugh and before Simon could move, she grabbed his wrist. It wasn't a firm grip, just to hold him there for a moment. She turned to the side of his face and whispered softly in his ear. "That was the last kiss from that rose."

Haley smiled slightly at him as she leaned back in her seat. There was a kind of self-confidence read in her eyes, she wasn't showing herself as a victim or anything here, she didn't want to put that shoe on. But her confidence quickly turned into a puzzled look as David started clapping. SInce when had he been there? Haley had missed the moment and she didn't respond to his comments. "Hey David, it's nice to see you." She greeted the boy she had first met the day before.

Like the day before, David talked away and there was so much in his sentences that Haley could hardly keep up with her thoughts. An after party? Of course, for invited guests only and Simon and AF certainly had a lot of fun. A lie? Wait, what? Stop David, you're going too fast. Something about Valentine. Simon. AngelFyre. Kiss AngelFyre. Oh, this could only get better and Haley tried to suppress a smirk. "Don't worry David you're not screwing anything up here! Trust me, you're just adding some more, let's call it spice, to this wonderful evening of love." Haley smiled at him and couldn't wait to see how tonight's show would go on.

Scarlett was beaming with glee, it was Valentines Day! Nothing could go wrong-wait that wasn't true, it was Hogwarts, something always went wrong.

Scarlett put on her best dress, which was a light colored dress with beautiful butterflies. She also put on a pastel purple headband.

She was surprised she was at a table with all girls- until she saw Simon. Simon. The first boy she ever had feelings for. She sat at her seat and saw a chocolate cupcake, then she noticed the note.

She sighed. "Maybe next time."

Scarlett was good at hiding her emotions. Right now on the inside she felt kind of sad. But that was not going to bother her, it was a holiday she needed others to feel happy for her to be happy.

Scarlett was not very social, so she never really met anybody at Hogwarts. She looked at the names on the cards and saw where they sat down. "Hello, Haley, Hi, Emily, Hello Della, Greetings AngelFyre, Hi Simon." She opened her mouth to say something else but she was too shy. She really didn't like talking to people.

She was usually described as shy, and that never really bothered her, it meant that no one would really talk to her, and that meant she did not have to talk to them.

Interacting with @Haley Rose, @AngelFyre McCubbin, and @David Howard. My apologies for currently ignoring @Della Barfield and @Scarlett Noel but he's a little out of it right now. Open to interaction. Maybe. If he doesn't black out.

Last kiss?

Oh, God. She knew.

Simon listened to Haley's words and realized there was no playfulness in tone or in her eyes. She gave him a smile, a small one, but it wasn't truly a smile. He wasn't quite sure what he would describe it as. What did it all mean?

She totally knew.

He began to turn his head towards AngelFyre, wondering if Haley found out about their time spent together and how it had been increasing, the meeting in the Common Room, the time where they were much too close in the Rehearsal Room, the holding hands while ice skating on the Great Lake, the hushed conversations in the Library. Did she know of AngelFyre's affections for him? Had she figured out his for AngelFyre?

He felt nauseated and lightheaded all at once and any color the pale dhampir held normally was probably gone, making his complexion comparable to that of parchment. Were emotions as easily read on his face right now as if they were written in ink?

The sound of clapping momentarily distracted him from his near death experience and he looked over his shoulder to see David Howard standing there at his table, a napkin and note in one hand and a rose in the other. Feeling as if he was going to be sick, he leaned forward in his chair. This was NOT the right time for more company at this table.

He listened as David talked about how downtrodden everyone seemed. Sort of. People at this table had to be miserable. There was Haley who had somehow discovered that her boyfriend and another at the table held affections for one another, there was a girl who didn't know a boy liked her in return and just had to bear witness to said boy kissing his girlfriend, and there was Simon who was in the middle of what seemed to be the worst public Birthday/Valentine's Day/Break Up ever in the history of past, present, or future in any sort of dimension possible.

Dave first mentioned that he wanted Simon to be his Valentine and Simon sort of paused at that. There was already Haley there and already AngelFyre and wasn't this awkward enough? Seriously. What horrible sin had he committed to where this night even had to occur as it was just moments ago and now was getting more awkward and thicker by the moment?

Thicker. The air was getting thicker. Not only was he nauseated and lightheaded but it felt hard to breathe.

Dave talked on, as Dave did, and he then mentioned how lucky he was to come approach this table because this table was where AngelFyre was seated. He then talked of kissing her and that he'd be more than happy to do so if she was up to it and again WHAT SORT OF DAMN NIGHTMARE WAS THIS?! Was this not Valentine's Day? A day for love. Was this not his BIRTHDAY?

No. It was a damned nightmare.

Simon just stared at Dave blankly, without any sort of expression on his face.

What

The

Absolute

Hell?

"Now's not a good time, Dave," he muttered. He listened as Haley sarcastically said he wasn't screwing anything up, just adding some spice to the wonderful evening. No, he was screwing everything up - more so than it already was.

“Of course. That would be lovely.” Angel said and I could’ve sworn that my heart had stopped beating right then and there because despite everything she could’ve told me, Angel said the words I would have never expected to hear in a million years. I mean, we’ve only met each other two times not counting classes during which we rarely interacted in, but then again, perhaps Simon’s luck was still with me and although before I had taken it as more of a joke, I was really starting to believe that it actually worked since it definitely wasn’t my imagination and I’m glad it wasn’t because had she not accepted, Professor Lecuyer would have to choose my valentine for me and I didn’t know much people here so that might or might not have gone well for me. Snapping me out of my thoughts, Hailee told me “Don’t worry David you’re not screwing anything up here! Trust me, you’re just adding some more, let’s call it spice, to this wonderful evening of love.” and Simon quickly followed her with “Now’s not a good time, Dave.”. Yeah, I could see that and Hailee’s sarcasm didn’t make it any better, although I supposed it did since I could later make a joke about it.

“Yeah, I can see your point about I’m adding spice here and from the looks of it, I’ve worsened the situation by three hundred fourteen percent for most of you and improved the situation for myself by six hundred thirty eight percent although now that I think about it, a correction has to be made and that would be that it wasn’t I who improved my situation but rather AF by accepting to be my valentine so now the DADA professor doesn’t have to pick one for me and now that I think about it, you’re kinda right about me not screwing this up because otherwise she wouldn’t’ve accepted.” I then slid the pink rose over to Angel before sitting down on an empty chair to continue my talk. “Now as for you Simon, I completely agree with what you said, now’s not the time to add some more spice but the dish already smells pretty bad so why not add some more if we’re gonna throw it away anyways? But then again, the dish in question might be a snake head that just so happened to survive it’s beheading so I might just throw it away now so it won’t bite me later, what do you think? And by the way, does anyone feel the need to get out and get some fresh air? If you do then I’d be more than happy if you left because the tension here makes me wanna puke and I’m certainly not making it any better, but then again, it’s not like I ever make situations any better am I right?”

Two lies, one sentence, the first one being that the tension wasn’t making me want to puke but the situation was still pretty bad and the second lie being that I didn’t ever make situations better and that could be true depending on who you were talking to but in general, that was a lie but it’s not like I was gonna tell them that since it would only worsen the situation by two hundred eighty six more percent which would add up to a staggering six hundred percent, and even if it didn’t worsen the situation that bad, the people at the table would certainly hate me more then they already did at the current moment. And one last thing, it’s not like the numbers were real but they were fun to mess around with every once in a while and I took my opportunity to do it this time because why not?

In an uncomfortable situation with @Haley Rose, @AngelFyre McCubbin, and @David Howard. Others present at the table. Openish to interaction, if he can bear any more.

Simon tried to be patient and normally he did pretty well but now wasn't one of those moments. He stared forward at David as he talked. "Glad things are going so well for you tonight, David, but really, perhaps you should be getting back to your table if it's so awful over here."

Awful wasn't the word.

Devastating.

"You did your task, you gave the girl your rose, now you're free to escape. See ya, mate,"
and Simon hoped that his words alone would cause Dave to head back to his table. He was already losing his temper more than he'd like and being snippy, he really didn't want things to get any worse.

Maybe too he just wanted to get him gone before some sort of kiss ensued. That certainly wasn't something that needed to happen and why AngelFyre seemed to agree to Dave was beyond him and frankly, annoyed him. Wasn't she supposed to like him? He had found a bit of parchment that she had drawn all over in the library with little hearts with HIS own name on it, not David's. Was AngelFyre the type to do that to all she was close to? Did she like Dave as well? Maybe somewhere there was a paper dedicated to Dave with lots of hearts with his name on it and scripty writing of AngelFyre McCubbin Howard.

Maybe he was the one that needed to leave the table. No. This was his table. It wasn't him.

While fresh air sounded good about right now, the Ballroom was on the Fourth Floor of the castle. If Dave wanted some fresh air though, he could probably use his dhampir strength to toss him out one of the windows...

Vaguely aware that a rose was being slid across the table towards her, from her very happy-looking friend, AngelFyre was jolted somewhat back into a hazy reality. She reached for it, smiling wanly, still not completely certain what was going on, but she quickly started putting it together. Dave had clearly not asked to be seated at the table as she had incorrectly assumed. He had apparently also been given a rose to do with as Simon had just done with Haley… and he was giving it to AngelFyre! Did that mean she had just agreed to be his Valentine when she thought she was inviting him to sit at the table? She reasoned she had. Well, was that not just the perfect dung-covered cherry to top the sundae that had become this disaster of an evening? Sigh

AngelFyre was of course flattered. It is always nice to know that someone out there likes you, and that someone, no matter who they are, should not have their heart trampled when they make themselves so vulnerable with such an offering. She liked Dave, but she did not like Dave, and she would have to do a cleanup on Aisle 1 later with him. He was her friend. He was a kind fellow and of all of the people at this Table, he most certainly did not deserve any of this. Hurting him purposefully was simply NOT an option.

“Thank you, Dave. It is beautiful and I appreciate it very much.” She smiled at him and found that it was easier than she would have imagined under the circumstances because his offering was the first genuine act to take place at Table 3 that had no taint associated with it. She was about to now make the gesture to have Dave join them at the table, which she knew full well would not be doing him any favors, but it seemed the polite thing to do, when Simon surprised her with a few sharp words, and an even sharper tone, all directed at Dave.

AngelFyre had not looked at Simon since he had kissed Haley. She had not looked at Haley either. Her punishment quota had been met with their kiss. Mission accomplished: band-aid had been ripped off. She was pretty certain it had even taken some skin along with it. But there was something in Simon’s tone that stopped her short. Why would he be upset with Dave? AngelFyre knew Simon liked him, and like herself, never seemed bothered by Dave’s unique way of speaking, so why let the cannons loose on him now?

It was then that she turned to look at him, and she was looking at a very distressed young man. She had never seen him act like this before, and it briefly crossed her mind to wonder if this kind of agitation would bring on any of his dhampir traits, but she figured he knew what he could and could not handle in that arena. Still, what was wro…. and then she caught her breath. She could not help it. Maybe still more wishful thinking on her part, but a faint glimmer of hope began to warm her through and through. AngelFyre allowed herself to smile.

“Thank you, Dave. It is beautiful and I appreciate it very much.” Angel said after I gave her the rose and the words she said only seemed make Simon even more angrier then he already was and it didn’t take long for him to say “Glad things are going so well for you tonight, David, but really, perhaps you should be getting back to your table if it’s so awful over here, you did your task, you gave the girl your rose, now you’re free to escape. See ya, mate!” Escape?
Why? What for? I didn’t want to escape, in fact, I was having a perfectly good time torturing Simon by the looks of it. He was acting very... jealous and the reason I say that is because his mood had significantly dropped from the moment I had asked Angel to be my valentine and he wasn’t hiding that fact very well, but it didn’t even seem like he was trying to do so if I was being completely honest. Well, say he did like Angel, I mean, it would certainly explain why he wanted me to leave instead of doing anything else with her, and she did agree to be my valentine so he probably thought that she liked me but what he didn’t know was that we had only met twice before so there was no way she could like me, I mean she could, but not in a romantic way and if she did, I certainly didn’t reciprocate those feelings just yet and the whole asking her to be my valentine thing wasn’t so much of a romantic gesture as it was making sure the DADA professor wouldn’t be the one choosing a valentine for me, but perhaps Simon didn’t see it in the way I saw it and that would actually be the perfect explanation for why he was acting the way he was, but perhaps he just needed a break, a break away from the table during which I’d explain to him my intentions and hope I’d be fast enough to run away if he decided to attack me.

Well, there was only one response I could think of giving in the moment, or at least, only one that I wanted to give in the moment, but instead giving it in my usual cheerful tone, I’d
give it in a more, calmer and serious tone, but first I decided to address Angel and her compliment so I turned to her and said: “Well, first things first, thanks for the compliment AF but I’d also like to mention that I would like your compliment even more if that was a rose of my choosing and not one that had floated out of the celling and managed to land at my spot, and I would honestly say more but as you can tell, our dear friend Simon really isn’t in the mood for me to tell you anything else.” I then turned to look at Simon before starting to talk. “Look Simon, I don’t want to escape anywhere but you really look like you do so how about we get out of here for a few moments and have a one to one conversation because it seems to me like you’re getting mad because of what you think to be the truth which in reality isn’t the truth at all but how would you know? And most of what I said is just based on the assumption of what I think you are thinking based on everything you’ve done in the past few minutes, but of course, I could be wrong as well, how would I know? Now being the good friend that I am, I’m going to leave the table like you asked, but not to go back to my own table, no, I have nothing to do there, rather, I’m just going to take a nice stroll in the corridors, think about the evening and how I could’ve improved, and if you decide not to join me then perhaps I’ll just go to the west tower and write a letter to whomever because why not?” Once I had finished talking I stood up and without waiting for a response started to leave the ballroom, hoping Simon would come along, but if he didn’t, I’d just write him a letter explaining everything, and probably throwing in some casual talk whilst I was at it.
