In a move that now felt second nature to her, Della cast the dancing feet spell at the Slytherin prodigy. But the redhead was too quick. She activated her team's Protego rune, causing Della's spell to ricochet off and nearly hit Draven. Unfortunately, the newcomer had the same target, and her ricocheted dancing feet hit Della squarely in the chest.

She thought she would be more prepared for the uncanny feeling that came with losing control of her feet, but Della's stomach flipped and flopped as her feet started something akin to the flamenco. Knowing that she was most likely a major target, especially now that Liana was in the safety of the protection charm where she could easily survey the whole field, Della tried her best to get a feel for the beat her feet were dancing to so she could attempt to avoid any incoming spells.

In her peripheral, she saw that Vale had hit Hunter at least and Cody seemed to no longer be on fire. But suddenly, half the dueling figures disappeared. Someone had covered them in a blanket smoke—for a second, Della wondered if this was another surprise from Ming and Evelynn. But she could still see this time—someone on Avery's team had cast Fumos at Liana's team, but it caught Vale in the crossfire as well.

Because of her dancing feet, Della couldn't quite get a look at Cody—hopefully, he'd take it upon himself to help their lost comrade.

Round 3 saw the tactics showcased that Ming had hoped to see since the beginning.

It all began with Hunter sitting down in the smokescreen, hampering his ability to see or move out of the way of incoming spells. Interesting bait, and it succeeded somewhat when a curse sent by Clair missed him completely. The plan didn’t seem to work out fully, as Avery ’s spell sent the Ravenclaw into a dancing fit.

Della’s team meanwhile, was attempting a different strategy. Cody started by covering his own team with a smokescreen. Another intriguing idea, to encourage the other two teams to fight amongst themselves. That no spells came from Della or Vale showed that this was a planned strategy. Was it a gambit to disguise their future actions, or just to distract from their team?

Finally was the team under the leadership of Liana. Having been mostly on the defensive for Three Houses, they came out with a surprisingly savage volley of spells targeting Avery, from Liana’s Knockback jinx to Maggie dancing feet to a more nefarious curse from Hunter. The move had taken Ming by surprise, but not Avery. In a show of exceptional athleticism (EVA 26 and 24) Avery dodged out of the way of the spells by both the Slytherin girls, with what was perhaps excessive showmanship. Perhaps he was trying to show Hunter how it was done, or just getting carried away having his fun?

Or, perhaps, he had fallen exactly for a trap set by Hunter, who used the opportunity to hit Avery with a nasty Curse of the Bogies right as the cheery Slytherin boy was getting back into position. It was cleverness worthy of a....Slytherin.

xxxxHunter deep within the smoke had given his boast and short speech in hopes to antagonize a couple students his way. He wanted to know best who was hot-headed and who could keep cool. Avery seemed like the easiest target to mess with since Hunter had originally attempted to cast a spell at him at the start. The issue was the smoke, but luck seemed to have been on Hunter's side as he lifted his wand from where he sat. Wand up, and eyes inflamed by the smoke, he had to listen carefully for his target. Similar to how an actual hunter would wait for its prey, Hunter listened closely for Avery to say something in that dark moment. "There!" With a swift movement, Hunter cast Curse of the Bogies in the direction to which he heard Avery speaking. It took fear and courage to build up enough malice to cast the spell, but after this duel, Hunter was bound to regret casting it. Perhaps it was karma for his remarks, but Hunter received a bit of what he was expecting. Well, half of what he expected. As the smoke began to clear he saw the next two spells heading in his direction: one from Clair and the other from Avery. Surprisingly sitting still may have been the best option for dodging Clair's spell, Hunter kept to his word and took no action to dodge the attack. Perhaps Clair had difficulty in seeing Hunter in the smoke? Or perhaps she was anticipating him to actually move as the spell flew directly past Hunter's face and shoulder. The spell had a glooming feel and sent a slight chill down Hunter's spine, it felt similar to the very spell he had just cast at Avery. Speaking of Avery, a direct hit from Avery onto Hunter's legs caused him to very uncomfortably stretch and unstretch his legs. With a few butt scoots and a lot of leg shimmies, he began to encircle in a rather bizarre dance move he never knew he could have been capable of doing. Slightly painful and surprising to conduct, but also a bit fun despite how ridiculous or impressive it appeared. Hunter turned his head towards Avery as he began to dance in a circle. He noticed Draven offering a handkerchief to Avery while giving a glare towards Hunter. A kind act for Drvaen's ally and a sinister act for his enemy. What's more, was Draven's glare resembled a similar look Hunter was slightly familiar with. Every time Hunter would be interrupted during his studies or asked questions on homework by other students he would sometimes give a similar look of being annoyed. If anyone should be annoyed by Hunter's act it was Hunter himself, "Just a little more..." he thought to himself. He responded back to Draven's glare with a smile of joy, "Quite the kind lad you are Mister... apologies, I don't believe we've met before. Hunter Argentum at your dismay, do you possibly have another handkerchief you could share if someone lands that spell on me? Also, are you sure that will help Mr.Chen?" Hunter lifted his wand back in their general direction; although, talking this much was really tiring on Hunter rather than the actual duel or dancing. Hjs legs began to move more out of control and lifted him upward in a similar fashion as if he was hit by the Jelly-Leg Curse. Now Hunter was fully up, and getting his groove on: "Your teammates had their chance, I presume it's your turn to have a shot at me?" Hunter tried to adjust to his dance, trying to find the rhythm in each step and go with the groove. Something he found very embarrassing to do. It was then Hunter noticed another cloud of smoke surrounding Della's team. Who had casted that? Hunter was unsure, but he looked towards the black smoke, and then back at Avery, Draven, and Clair with a small wink.

xxxx Her aim would be considerably impaired because of the smoke, but Liana could not just do nothing when she knew spells would be coming for Hunter. It was lucky that she had been bracing for an attack, because sure enough one came - a Knockback Jinx slammed into her, and the girl pressed her left foot into the floor behind her to steady herself. It was far from the worst spell she had ever been hit with, so all she did was quickly breathe in and out to put the pain out of her mind, before brushing it off and locating a target. Through the sight-impairing screen she could just make out Chen's form, and she let a spell fly in his direction. It missed - if only barely - but something hit him for, as the stage slowly cleared, she could see his nose seeping disgusting mucus. Oof. She had experienced that curse herself, and it was definitely not a treat. Anyway, she did not much like the fact that Chen had managed to dodge two spells out of three, and even land one. Even if his attackers were mostly blinded, and his own target was sitting still. That would do no good for the Asian boy's already-massive ego. Hopefully, his dripping nose would serve to humble him before he became too unbearable. Hunter had fallen victim to Chen's Dancing Feet spell, but seemed to be taking it well. Or as well as one could, given how embarrassing the effects were. She gritted her teeth; that's what you get for painting a target on your chest. He got off easy, considering. Before deciding on her next action, she glanced over at Barfield's team. Not a single Tarantallegra had been sent Liana's way for so long that it seemed almost uncanny. And why were all three of them enveloped in fumes, as was Fernandez? She could have sworn she only heard Stevenson calling out the incantation for the spell; did it go wrong, or was there a mutiny? Knowing the Hufflepuff's unpredictable nature, it seemed quite likely that he chose to diverge from his captain's plan just to attract some attention. Or was this a part of some utterly cowardly, un-Gryffindorish ploy to let the two other teams go at each other while appearing to be disorganized and nonthreatening? Either way, it didn't really matter. The redhead leveled her wand and prepared to act.

xxxxAnother miss. It was becoming all too familiar to Maggie, missing, and she wasn't really a big fan. The fact that she was now missing near every spell she cast in the direction of anyone wasn't something that was a surprise, seeing as Maggie wasn't the most skilled spellcaster ever, but it was still frustrating nonetheless. Tarantallegra sailed by Avery Chen without giving him a second glance. Blast. Still, there was hope. Plenty of hope for their team, just as long as everyone stopped targeting Liana. Certainly the most talented spellcaster on their team, her early elimination would have disastrous results on the outcome of the game (at least for team Hawkins, Argentum, and Kerr). And sure, that didn't matter much to Maggie. She didn't really care about winning, despite her tie win of the first event, but she knew that Liana did. If they lost, or, more likely, if she was taken out early (or at all), she may withdraw from all of her classmates and friends again. For a few months. Again. So Maggie was stressed. Yes, she was, and she wasn't a fan of thinking rationally and planning her next move, but here she was! Uncharacteristically quiet, Maggie gripped her wand and readied herself. The game must go on.

Sulking, he decided to go with anger. Lashing out, he cast Fumos, the smokescreen spell. The spell taught at the fourth Defense Against the Dark Arts class for the first years.

Acting as if he was so cool, he smirked. He had to torture Della somehow, and what better way than to cause smoke to blind her. Don't we just love when you get obscured by smoke?

Ah but not thinking clearly, Cody had obscured himself under the smoke as well. How stupid was he? This was primarily meant to get revenge on Della, not Cody.

Being forced to suffer through this, he tried to consider what he was going to do, when his heart pounded. Was something wrong? Was he being betrayed... he did betray his own team... this was Cody's stupidness, and he seemingly had to pay for what he did.

But, did he have to cash in his debt? Not right now. Not when he was having so much fun. And now, Cody had his smoky eyes directed towards Avery Chen. Whatever he did... even if he was someone who was possibly Cody's friend, well... now, Cody missed having enemies, so it was time to sever the ties.

ACTION: Casting Incendio at Avery Chen

He sidestepped two incoming spells with ease, but the fact that he was running his mouth likely didn't spare him from the third. The sparks landed squarely on his chest, and immediately, his nose felt like it began to swell. "Ahh...AHCHOO!" he blew one out, snot shooting from his nose freely, head throbbing like it was about to burst. He held his head for a moment, before noticing a handkerchief held out in front of him. With a groggy "dank you, bro", he took it gratefully from Draven and blew noisily into it.

Ah shoot. This Curse of the Boogers thing really sucked.

The only satisfaction he got, however, was seeing Hunter scootching his butt across the dueling room floor. Even in his mucus-filled misery, Avery could hardly suppress a grin. What a show! He took a closer look. Why... from this angle, even he could see why one might want to be potions partners with Hunter. The boy sure knew how to flaunt his very real assets. "Aaayy! Hunter, you're pretty good at this!" he couldn't help giving the Ravenclaw boy a bit of recognition. But what could we say? Avery knew talent when he saw it.

However, he wasn't about to forgive Hunter just yet, despite the entertaining show he put on. "But you'd be a lot more charming if -- ACHOO! -- you'd just stuff that hole attached to your noggin, my man," he continued. Oh boy, could Hunter talk.

----A voice of cheer was made when Vale picked up what she thought was a cockroach to feed her delightful pet spider with. She hummed, throwing the mysterious bug into her pockets. She would only stop in confusion when a blast of smoke made her way around her.

Vale looked around, confused about the dense smoke only to realize that Cody most likely had something to do with it from what she barely saw. Well, Della certainly didn't want them to do that either. Well, she decided. They're already were in the deep end of chaos. How could Vale deny such an opportunity to exploit such a thing?

Vale smiled, and raised her wand into the air. How should she go along with this now? She'll let fate decide for her.

Without further delay, a large smile ensnared Vale's face and she let out a loud crackle, and a mighty shout of words. "How bloodthirsty! Bone-crushing, and most certainly nerve-wrecking! I thought duelling was a sport not meant for excitement, but how incredibly wrong I was! You guys are the best! Let us partake this battle, to the near death!"

Unfortunately for those involved, Vale decided it was surely time to express her eagerness for war.
