(OOC Note: This RP is backdated to early September, a few days after the new term's beginning.)

Sophia never considered herself to be a bookworm at home. She read the occasional comic book, sure, but she never found herself going to her old muggle school library to read about, well, anything. After all, she could hardly find an interest in pre-algebra or the dozens of books written about the American revolution.

Now, things were different. Now, she was learning about magic. Not some quadratic formula. No, she was learning charms and potions and so many cool, applicable subjects.

For the first time in Sophia's life, her first instinct was to go to the library. Maybe she was a Ravenclaw at heart. She didn't understand why everyone didn't have a strong love of studying at Hogwarts. This was magic, after all, not some boring chore.

She watched the library in wonder. Even the libraries in Hogwarts were magnificent. The shelves were tall and splendid. The books were elegant and heavy looking , but she knew they had to be written about fantastical things. Heck, they were even flying around like birds. It was incredible.

From the books that were still on the shelves, Sophia could hardly understand anything from the titles. Maybe she just wasn't advanced enough yet, maybe she knew too little about magic from being a muggle prior to arriving at Hogwarts, or maybe she was just plain stupid, but she didn't have even the slightest understanding from most of the books she was browsing.

As Sophia wandered around the library, gawking at the wealth of knowledge, she was jerked from her little reverie as she bumped into a fellow student.

Her clumsiness took over in that moment and she found herself on the floor at the other student's feet, despite her best efforts to avoid such a fate.

Rubbing her sore back, she quickly stood, lifting her head and muttering a soft apology to the other person.

"Sorry about that," she said meekly.

She felt her face redden in mortification.

Natasha always went to the muggle library with her father as he worked there. She would spend a lot of time admits the books. She hoped to visit a magical library whenever her mother mentions about the wizarding library.

One day, Natasha woke and saw the clock. She was shocked herself because she had never woken up too early. She got ready for the day as slowly as possible. But still she had time. She had no one to talk as all were getting ready. She got an idea.

Her steps followed her instincts, she went to the LIBRARY!!! She didn't find time all these days, but now she have. As her sight fell on the library, her jaw dropped. She can't believe her eyes. The muggle library where she read books can be placed 10 times inside this one.

With the wonder in her eyes, she walked into the library. She went to each rack and also saw the books arranging themselves. As her neck ached, she stopped and took a book from the nearest shelves she stood. It was about Herbology. The book had all information about a single plant and the book had the information about so many plants, Natasha taught the book had the information about every plant in the world, because that it was so thick but still she managed to hold it in her hand with great difficulty.

As she was holding her double times weight in her hand, she didn't stand soo strong. Suddenly one figure from her back hit and both were on the floor. It took seconds to recollect was had just happened and the book hit her head hurting the most. She removed the book and found a girl standing suddenly and apologizing her. "That alright, no problem", she said with a smile. The girl helped Natasha to come to her feet. "Thank you."

Natasha was so curious and was not able to control her mouth so she decided asked her, "Why are you so early to the library?" Suddenly she knew it was not good to start a relationship with a noisy question. She popped out, "By the way, I'm Natasha Schneider of Hufflepuff." Hoping that the girl will introduce herself and answer her question.

Sophia grinned and looked up at the other girl. She tried her best to avoid looking at the scar on the girl's face as her eyes met Natasha's darker eyes, but her eyes quickly fell down to her feet. She still wasn't very good at eye contact yet, and her crippling shyness was no less crippling even after a few days at Hogwarts.

Grabbing a handful of the blue in her robes, she held the piece of fabric up slightly and nodded toward it.

"I'm Sophia Nelson," she said in her American accent, "I'm a Ravenclaw."

She gestured to the book in Natasha's hands and answered, "I guess I'm here for the same reason as you. There are lots of cool books in this library, and I just don't know where to start."

It was almost overwhelming, really. There were books about everything. Some of the subjects of the books were topics she'd never even heard of. Divination? Wizarding Wars? Rebellions? Potions? This was all so extraordinary, and she felt completely out of place as a muggle-born witch. (In fact, she had only that morning learned that she was technically called a witch, and not a wizard. They were apparently gendered terms?)

"What about you?" she asked curiously, "What brings you here? Any particular books?"

She tried to resist peeking at the book in Natasha's hands.

Natasha was surprised that the girl didn't get tangled in her hair. She was very pleased that the short girl didn't run away without replying. Her heart slowed back to normal and didn't change her hair color too (hopefully). She saw the girl struggling to make eye contact. She hoped to let her know both are same with no difference.

The way the girl handled her fabric of her robes was cute on her yet Nat found that she was a bit shy.

"Thank god you are from Ravenclaw, and not Slytherin" (She tried her best not to laugh for that small inside joke)

Nat was excited to know that she and Sophia are on the same side of the coin, Sophia was early to the library and so was her."Ya there are a lot of them."(remembering the muggle library where she got the scar). "Start from your favorite topic, that's was my way of falling in love with books. And yes, it is difficult to find that shelf from this big world. " She just saw around her.

She was proud to herself that the first person she spoke to that morning was becoming a good friend and more exciting thing is that she found her in the library. She never taught such a thing would happen, a person to talk in the library. (Her favorite work in her favorite place!!)

When Sophia questioned curiously, she was happy in answering them because she too asks a lot of questions which actually irritates others and not her, Nat was relaxed about it. "No, I just came to the library as I had time for classes, didn't find time earlier. And just stopped and picked a random book from my favorite shelf." She lifted the thick book and showed it to Sophia.

THE PLANTS

"By the way, what is your favorite topic?"

Sophia tapped her chin thoughtfully. What was her favorite subject? She didn't know all that much about magic so far, since she had only attended a small handful of classes so early in the year, but she was certainly beginning to get a feel for what to expect in her magical education.

She thought to her first Charms class, and cringed as she remembered butchering her pronunciation of the Mending Charm and her wand movements for it and the Dancing Feet Jynx. Her performance was far from stellar, and though she had ultimately overcome her shortcomings and passed, it was a very stressful experience.

Then she thought to her first Defense Against the Dark Arts class. Those spells were far simpler, but she definitely still felt herself shaking in her shoes just thinking of the imps they had studied. She wasn't a coward, but going from muggle to learning about imps in a few weeks was very overwhelming.

She didn't even want to think about Flying class.

"I guess Potions was pretty interesting," she mused, "It was still dangerous, and I had to pay close attention, but it was far less stressful than worrying about a lot of the other dangers like backfiring charms or falling from a broomstick."

She read the name of the book Natasha was holding and smiled, "How about you? You seem to be a fan of Herbology."

When Sophia tapped her chin, it was so cute seeing her do that. Nat waited patiently for Sophia to come up with her answer and finally when she said her favorite was 'Potions' she was amused. 'How can she like potions?' she taught to herself because it was a bit difficult for her to add 1 drop of things in them. She never expected to meet such a different person in the morning, but still she liked that girl.

"Yes, I love plants. I used to read books in the muggle library and fell in love with Botany. That's what they call herbology there. I hope you know that, right?"

She never wanted to leave the library in the first place, but still she forced the book back into the shelve as it was time for her to head to the common room and collect her books for the day. But that was the last thing she wanted to do in that moment. Not knowing what to do next. She hugged the girl,"I'm so happy that we both met each other. And I hope we meet often."

Her heart was relaxed and so happy and also hoped her day had surprises like this...<3

As Natasha mentioned Botany and a muggle library, Sophia found herself curious. Was this girl a muggle-born witch, like her? So many of the people Sophia had met so far were from wizard families. It was nice to have friends and acquaintances that were knowledgeable about magic, but it was also still a little lonely. There was no one to share muggle-experiences with.

Then again, with as little as Sophia knew about life in wizarding families, what were the differences in muggle and wizard experiences in childhood? Did they have similar games? Similar evenings after school when their parents came home from work? Did they even go to school. She vaguely remembered one of her friends on the Hogwarts Express mentioning going to a muggle school briefly as a kid, but was that universal?

Sophia was surprised at the sudden hug. She hadn't been hugged in, well, over a year. She smiled at Natasha as the Hufflepuff pulled away.

"I'm so happy that we both met each other. And I hope we meet often," she heard Natasha say.

"Absolutely," she answered, "When I found out I'm a witch, I was so worried I'd be completely alone here. It's always nice to meet new people."

She paused, sensing that the other girl had more pressing matters to attend to.

"Maybe we have classes together? Or maybe we could form a study group?" she offered, "I've always thought a big group of friends can study better than a single person on their own."

Her 'Absolutely' was so hard on Nat, she had to go and attend classes but still she wanted to stay and hear Sophia's friendly voice all the day. At first she was scared but now it was meeting a very close friend after ages, which she never wanted to end. "No one will be left alone if they find me and I will do my best to be for them too, so we can meet often then, right?"

Sophia's idea was the best. Nat was so excited to hear that,"Yes, you are right. And I hope that we meet in class and can't wait to do group study, I will introduce you to everyone I know and you do to, so we become one big group. And I need you to teach me potions because I'm not so good at it, if it is okay for you?"

After a quick pause. "What is your first class? Don't be late, maybe we can talk during the breakfast in the great hall. Bye!!"

It was not their last bye, but still she felt like it. She started moving out of the library, at the entrance, she turned back, saw Sophia Nelson and smiled.

She hoped to meet her soon...
