It feels like it was only yesterday and to be honest when Cash came home for Easter alongside Starlee, it was what they expected. For the first two days of the holiday Cash and Starlee had the Ironwoods Manor by themselves. Well, not exactly. The helpers that works at the Manor still milling around and about but on the March 30^th, Cash's mother decided to grace both of the young Serpents with her presence.

Sufficed to say it was the most horrible Easter dinner they ever had with their mother. Starlee watched all of the horror of Cash going off at their mother for being an absence parent and Cash's mother acted nonchalantly about all the things that bothering the green eyes and what they pointed out.

But that whole Easter debacle has passed and now it is time for Cash to get back at their studies again. Spring is here and before you know it, Summer will be arriving soon and the young Ironwoods will move up a year. They say as you become older, you become wiser but Cash could not guarantee that.

And so; after they took some breakfast, they rushed down to where their dorm room located. Once the green eyes inside their dorm, they grabbed their beloved guitar. They still have some time before the first class of the day begin. They started their tracked towards the Great Lake. As they arrived at the Great Lake the soft breeze of the wind blew their purple haired gently.

Cash definitely a morning person and it seems some of their peers also share the same trait as them. Cash took a seat under one of their favorite spot on the Lake which is under an Oak tree. They placed their guitar on their lap and pick the strings softly. The gentle breeze, the bird singing on the air and the melody that come out from their guitar made this place more magical than it already is.

Cash closed their eyes as the soft breeze of the air lulled them. But after their songs ended, Cash opened their green eyes again. From where Cash is situated, their green eyes landed on a familiar figure with a distinguished red hair. At first Cash thought it is one of their good friend, Rose Moon but this is the other ginger that Cash had the pleasure to meet before Easter holiday.

That person is Haley Rose. A fellow Parsel. Cash smiled softly to themselves. They picked up their guitar and walked to where Haley located. "Fancy seeing you here, Miss Rose"They greet the first year. "How are you this fine morning? How was your Easter break?"Cash inquired the other girl. Still standing near Haley, Cash holding their blue guitar where the hole on its body placed.

"Mind if I sit with you here?"They asked. Cash could be arrogant, brash, ignorant, and rude from time to time but it did not mean they forgot their manner. That particular trait had been instilled by their parents from the moment they could walk and Pureblood families never forgot that kind of teaching as long as they live.

"Hey Cash." Haley greeted the not unfamiliar face and grinned broadly. She looked up from her position and shielded the sun with her hand while continuing to talk to them. "I am doing just great." Haley replied, meanwhile moving aside on her blanket to make some room. She patted the flat of her hand next to her, "Sure, take a seat."

It had been a while since the two had last met but to this day Haley was more than grateful for it. They shared a special talent and Haley was more than happy to have met someone who not only had the same talent, but at the same time had built her up a bit during a time when she was at her lowest. She didn't want to think back to that time but that was one of the few moments that put a smile on her face.

"My Easter break was amazingly good." Haley laughed, shaking her head. She had expected the worst, the relationship with her mother was beyond bad at this point and she really didn't want to see her at all but surprisingly everything had turned out for the good. "My family or more my mother and I have talked things out." She smiled weakly, "But more interestingly, I finally got to meet my grandfather in person." Haley now told excitedly. She didn't know if she had told Cash anything about that, probably not but she didn't want to bug her about it and decided not to elaborate. "And other than that, I've been trying to improve my talent a bit." She smirked and winked at Cash, it was no secret to them that Haley was a parsel and she was sure Cash would understand the innuendo.

"But enough about me." Haley promptly changed the subject and wrapped her arms around her knees and rested her head on them while looking intently at Cash. "How are you? How was your vacation? What's new?" the redhead looked up tensely before her gaze fell on the blue guitar. "How about you tell me a little bit, I'll let you sit here with me on my blanket and in return you play me something?" The first year looked at them with big puppy dog eyes before she started laughing.

Haley herself only played piano and had wanted to learn to play guitar for a long time. At least that had been her wish for a long time, but she had currently pushed it back a position, as she wanted to try her hand at the ukulele first before moving on to the guitar. Nevertheless, she was more than curious to hear Cash play and hoped that they would take her deal.

How Cash Played the Song

"Thanks"Cash said after Haley allowed them to sit beside her. Haley told the green eyes that her Easter was amazingly good, Haley and her mother talked things out and for the first time, the first year met her grandfather. The beater listened of what Haley just told them. Haley's excitement spread out to the young Ironwoods.

"I am glad that you had an amazing Easter"The Cuban descendant stated as their smile spread out widely. The young socialite let out a small knowing laugh at the double meaning behind of what Haley's said. "See! I know you will embrace it eventually"Cash said as they put their guitar on top of their cross-legged.

Absentmindedly, Cash picked their guitar string softly. The green eyes heard Haley's strings of questions. "I managed"Cash said vaguely after Haley asked how Cash had been doing. Cash picked their guitar then they shrugged their shoulder. "My vacation was a disaster to put it lightly"The Beater said to Haley.

Cash open and closed their mouth like they wanted to elaborate some more but opted not to do that. Even they felt comfortable about their closeness with Haley, Cash felt like their level of closeness with Haley was not there yet. "Nothing new with me except one of my best friends came to my house visited me during Easter"Cash replied to Haley.

"Sure"The green eyes agreed to Haley proposal. The song that Cash picked hit a bit too close to home for them. At first, Cash softly picked their guitar strings and when Cash reached the first chorus of the song, they changed the pattern. This time they lightly strummed it.

Cash can feel their throat getting tighten and their eyes burned with unshed tears. Somehow this song reminds them of their father. The father that once upon a tiime so loving and warm to both Cash and their mother. Now, it is just a distant memory.

When Cash sang out the part 'I wish you cared a little more' the image of their cold and distant father came into their mind. Cash pushed through even though they felt like they wanted to mid - stopping the song they played and just let out their anguish. But the green eyes are a stubborn person. With a crack and shaky voice, they finished the song.

Music will always be there for Cash no matter how or what the circumstances are. The wind decided to pick up and caressed Cash's purple-haired gently. The green eyes took a deep breath to steady their heavy heart. The young Ironwoods felt their cheeks wet and quickly wipe it. "Sorry about that,"Cash stated this time in Parsel.

Since no one was around and it is not a secret that Haley knew that Cash is a Parsel and vice versa. "I do not know why I get so emotional over a song"The green eyes added and switched back to English again. But Cash knows perfectly well why they cried. They cried because they missing their father and too prideful to say it out loud.

If Haley asked the reason why the Cuban descendant cry, Cash will let Haley know some part of it but not the whole story.

Haley gave Cash an apologetic look when they mentioned that their east was a disaster. Haley knew it wasn't her fault, yet she would have liked Cash to have a good time and at the same time she felt bad that she had raved so much about her time just a moment ago. "Then we'll make sure your time here is all the better." Haley tried to cheer her friend up and bumped her shoulder lightly against theirs and gave them a slight smile.

Haley didn't want to dwell on the subject, she was sure if Cash wanted to open up, they would and so she didn't want to push them into anything. So she took up a comfortable position, rested her head on her knees and looked intently at the slytherin student as they picked up the guitar and began to play the first notes. As soon as the voice sounded, Haley closed her eyes for a moment and enjoyed the music, swaying lightly back and forth on her bottom.

The red-haired girl could hear the crack in the voice and already guessed that it was more to Cash than just a song. When she opened her eyes, she could see the tears in their eyes. But Cash finished the song, of course they did. Haley didn't know her opposite very well, but from the beginning she had the image of a strong fighter and even if it sounded silly at first glance to talk about a fighter because someone had finished a song, you knew at second glance that an emotional battle could be bigger than you might have thought.

"Don't worry about that." Haley replied in Parsel as well, squeezing gently their hand briefly before apologetically breaking contact again. Haley didn't want to cross the line and desperately needed to learn not to comfort others with physical touch when she didn't know if it was okay with the other person. "If you want to talk about it, you know you can with me. But if you don't, that's okay too." Haley assured them, understanding only too well how complex feelings can be sometimes.

After Cash said their Easter break was a disaster, Haley makes sure the time where both of the student hangout out with each other will make up the bad time that the green eyes had to endured. "Thanks"Cash replied to Haley. This is why Cash loves Hogwarts. Despite the danger that lurking in every corner, there will be someone who got their back and understand them.

The song that Cash played made them so emotional. Cash closed their eyes while the wind blow. The gentle caressed of the cool air, make Cash's heart longed more for their fathers' warmth. The heartache was sometimes unbearable. Once the song ended, Cash apologized to Haley. They hated when someone saw them crying. They do not want to appear weak in front of others.

"Don't worry about that,"The redhead girl said to the green eyes in Parsel. Haley squeezed Cash's hand gently, assured them that it is okay not to be okay/ Cash looked down at the brief and short contact. "No worries,"They replied. Usually, Cash is not that fond of physical contact but the gesture was nice enough. "Thank you"They stated for the gesture that Haley just did.

"If you want to talk about it, you know you can with me. But if you don't, that's okay too." The first year expressed. Cash looked into the distance. They were contemplated whether they will share their heartache with Haley or not. The young Ironwoods were quiet for a moment until they decided to speak up.

"My father left me,"They started. "Well, he left my mother and me to be exact"Cash added. "One day he just up and left without telling us why"They continued. When Cash said that, you can feel the sadness in every word that they say."I tried to ask my mother the reason behind my father's sudden leaving but she would not discuss it with me"They added.

"What makes it even worse is my mother act like it was not a big deal, My mother rarely talks to me this day"Cash concluded. You can hear the bitterness behind that sentences. Cash looked at Haley with a sad smile etched on their face. There was a half-truth from what they told Haley. Cash could not tell Haley the real truth about their father's disappearance.

They did not want Haley to feel pity for them. The Cuban descendant took a deep breath to calm their inner sadness. "Enough about me,"Cash tried to change the mood and topic. They did not want to dampened the mood. "So, how is the meeting goes?"Cash inquired Haley.

"With your grandfather I mean. Tell me all about it"They said then they put aside their guitar not too far for them and were ready to listen to Haley telling them about the meeting with her grandfather.

Cash was special in them own way and while the two were so different, Haley was glad that the two had met by chance. Haley knew she could rely on Cash, they hadn't known each other for long and maybe it was just the Parsel-bond between the two that made her think so, but Haley would rely on her gut feeling. Just as Haley could rely on Cash, so could they with Haley. Anytime and no matter what it was about. And that was the reason why she offered her friend to talk about it. The pain in them eyes was visible, but Haley didn't expect Cash to talk about it, she offered it to them though.

Haley was surprised, but didn't let on. She hadn't expected Cash to really open up, but they just did and while her words made Haley sad, it made her happy that Cash had as much faith in the redhead as she had in Cash. She listened to them attentively, by now the young Gryffindor had become more and more comfortable with the new language, that the change in language was in no way exhausting for her head. What hurt was to see Cash so hurt by their father.

Haley always had the urge to help, even in situations where she could not. She always had the urge to be responsible for the happiness of others and she hated moments like that when there was nothing she could say or do that would help Cash in any way. "I am sorry." Haley said with the same sad look Cash had. She was truly sorry and would only be more than happy to help her Parsel friend, but she couldn't. She could say things like "He doesn't know what a wonderful kid he's leaving behind/He doesn't deserve you/Maybe he didn't want to leave." But none of that would make the situation any better, so she decided not to say anything. She just tried to convey non-verbally that Haley would be there for them if they wanted to talk.

Haley wanted so much to talk about her grandfather, about the great weekend she had on the lonely hill surrounded by meadows, cliffs and the sea. About Aiden, about the snake and about all the wonderful experiences, but it felt wrong. It felt wrong to be talking about such a great time while a friend was having such a bad time. "It was good." She began to speak hesitantly and stopped for a moment inside. The young Rose thought about how she could sum up all that she had experienced, at least the most important information, without appearing to brag about how great everything had been for her.

"It was really good." She smiled back now at the thought. "Well, honestly, I was excited. I mean Godric and I had only met through letters and it was pretty naive of me to just meet up with him like that, lying to my parents and all." Haley shrugged and looked down at her hands somewhat innocently. She knew it was stupid, but it had turned out well and the last thing she wanted to hear now was a lecture on how reckless she had acted, so she continued. "Anyway, it all went well. I finally found out about my family, the people there were a bit weird but all very nice and a grandson of a woman was there too, Aiden, at first we really hated each other but we still became friends." Haley laughed again at the memories of Aiden and missed him at the same time. It also made her think of the snake that she had freed and brought her a huge fight with Aiden. "I don't know why but they had a snake and well what can I say, snakes help each other. After a quick chat I covered her and who knows where she is now." She continued with a wink.

Haley had summed up the weekend as best she could and wanted to leave it at that. She always had the thought in the back of her mind that Cash was fighting a much worse internal battle with them emotions and it felt wrong to sit here and laugh. By now dusk was falling on them too and as Haley looked up at the sky she continued to speak. "I'm going to visit them again next holiday." She explained dreamily and sank her gaze into the clouds.

"Don't be,"They stated after Haley said how sorry she was. "I mean it already happened and I know it sucks but there's not much I can do. Era lo que era it was what it was"Cash tried to smile although they were hurting inside. Talking about their father always bring that heavy feeling to their heart and Cash wanted to cry but the green eyes pushed that feeling aside.

Today was not all about them. Cash could cry their eyes out until there were no more tears left to cry back at their dorm, away from prying eyes. Today is about catching up with friends after the holiday. Cash never thought they could be so opened up with Haley. The other people Cash could really let their walls down are just Henry and Starlee.

After the second year asked how was the redhead holiday was, Haley cautiously said her holiday went well. She paused for a moment afraid her good time with her grandparents saddened the green eyes some more. "That was it?"They asked Haley. "Come on now, do not stop on my account?"They uttered and swatted Haley's forearm playfully.

"I am fine, really"They reassure Haley. Then the flood gated opened. The first-year told the Cuban descendant that she met her grandfather through letters first and her grandfather name Godric. "Godric??"Cash could not help but make a remark. "What an awesome cool dude name?"They expressed. If their father ever heard Cash using the word 'dude' to describe someone older than them, they never hear the end of it.

For their father referring to someone other than their name or 'sir' was disrespectful. "Anyway, it all went well. I finally found out about my family, the people there were a bit weird but all very nice and a grandson of a woman was there too, Aiden, at first we really hated each other but we still became friends"Haley let out a laugh reliving the fond memories.

Seeing their friend laugh and so happy, make Cash happy too. "That good, right??"They said. "That's good that you found out about your family and you are happy with what you find,?"Cash said. They wanted to chime in 'At least your grandparents are good and friendly to you, not like mine' but Cash held out their tongue.

They are afraid if they share too much info about how miserable their life is, it could dampen. the mood and Cash were not that heartless. The green eyes looked at Haley attentively and listened to every word she said. The Cuban descendant never thought that they could so ease around the Gryffindor and let their walls down.

The only people that Cash lets their walls down are Henry and Starlee. The second year was glad that they found the first year some months ago. "I don't know why but they had a snake and well what can I say, snakes help each other. After a quick chat I covered her and who knows where she is now"Haley continued with a wink.

The young Ironwoods let out a small laugh, knowing fully well what Haley mean by that. "Wait! hold up!,?"They exclaimed after registering what the Quidditch player just said. "They had a snake??"They questioned the other girl. "You don't think it was odd they had a snake?"They continued some more. "Do you think there is a possibility that one of them is a Parsel?"Cash enquired Haley some more.

"I mean Muggles these days are weird,?"They said. "My mother once told me that her coworker's kid has a snake as a pet,?"They continued some more. "I mean if one day I have a snake a pet, it is a no-brainer for me but maybe not to the others?"They conclude. "Still, if they were not a Parsel, why the hell did they have a snake in the first place?"The young socialite continues grilling Haley one question after another.

And when they realized the strings of questions could overwhelm the young lioness, they stop. When Haley looked up to the sky, the second year averted their gaze from the redhead to the sky that slowly turned to dusk. "I'm going to visit them again next holiday"Haley's eyes still gazing at the sky and Cash let out a sigh.

The young Ironwoods envy Haley's closeness to her grandparents while the purple-haired rarely saw their grandparents on both sides of their parents. The green eyes stood up from where they seated. The situation was getting a bit depressing for them but they did not voice that out to Haley. Once Cash stand up, they patted their clothes from whatever dust or grass that managed to tainted their clothing.

"Right,?"They uttered. "Since it will become dark soon, how about we walk back to the castle together, and then you can tell me the rest of the story, how's that sound?"They expressed while picking up their guitar and waiting for the other girl to respond.
