Then there was the matter of the smoke. Thomas coughed a little, using a hand to try and blow it away from his face. "This is seriously absurd, what sort of winning strategy is ensuring not a soul can see?" The question was rhetorical, of course.

Another eventful round. Cody went after Thomas with a Flipendo, but the Hufflepuff's own smoke seemed to obscure his aim and the Ravenclaw easily evaded the attack. Logan was none too pleased with the Ventus that was still plaguing her, so she nullified it masterfully. Pericles' attack seemed unimpacted by the fog, and the Hufflepuff burst into flames rather spectacularly, clear even through the smoke. Thomas was not as lucky. The spell was perfect in every way, and Ana's eyebrows raised slightly at the level of mastery. Sadly, that perfect spell went nowhere near its intended target and fizzled out unceremoniously. The stormcloud rumbled threateningly but still refused to attack the Hufflepuffs.

Ana had to wonder about the strategy of making it impossible for anyone to aim. She could hardly make out the goings-on of the duel and she wasn't even in the midst of the smoke.

[font=century gothic]WHAT!? THE BOY WAS MAD! Could you really accuse him of doing something stupid as such of preforming his next spell? Maybe it was greed. Maybe the boy was really dumb. Why would this spell work amongst the third years that knocked out @Adeline Hughes. May she rest in- oh wait, she ain't dead. She's dueling. Perhaps Cody should've checked up on her during the intermission of duels.

"FLIPENDO!" Cody cried out. Only to discover... it missed. It missed Thomas Baines, which was Cody's target in this case.

Thomas.

Why? His wand seemed to miss his target nearly every time. And he did pretty well on unofficial duels, hosted by several people. [/font]

When Pericles met Thomas' glance, his jaw was slack, breath dragging through teeth, making for a dazed look. Yet he resolved to stand a little straighter when he spied his partner checking in, a short nod followed by a squint through the smoke. "A panic response, perhaps," he speculated despite the rhetorical nature of the statement. Why else would anyone cast Fumos, unless they had senses keen enough to navigate smoke? While Pericles lacked blindvision, his guesstimations were at least good enough to land him a hit. His "Incendio" seared through the murk in Logan's general direction, and given the telltale whoosh along with the faint outline of fire flickering on the other side, the spell had found its mark. Satisfied in spite of his own injuries, Pericles readied his wand once more.

Action: As Strategized

Logan worked on attempting to remove the Ventus that had been aimed at the pair, it was not going to help them at all. The third year continuously glanced to make sure her partner was okay, although she needed to keep reminding herself that he was okay and nothing bad was going to happen to him. Something bad was going to happen to her if she did not pay attention though.

That exact thing happened. Logan grunted in pain as she felt the spell hit and could see the glow of the flames now surrounding her. Flames...of course it would be flames. The girl really needed to pay more attention to what was going on and actually attempt to dodge for once.

"Well, this panicking they’re doing is very annoying, I can’t see a thing," Thomas complained, irritation fueling his spell casting evidently as his Incendio Duo flew off the handle. Unfortunate that he missed, though it was a sensation he knew all too well. Perhaps his wand knew of his annoyance with the entire bout of smoke, and tried to keep up in an attempt to please, but anger still simmered in the boy’s mind and visibly on his features.

The smoke cleared up rather dramatically for Ana to see the aftermath of that bout of spells, if not exactly what had happened seconds before that. Cody, in a fruitless attempt to aid his teammate, attempted to block the spells that came towards her. Not particularly well, unfortunately for the Hufflepuffs. Logandidn't seem to enjoy being on fire, so she extinguished the flames with a flick of her wand. Pericles' spell had been most interesting - Cody had attempted to block the attack targeted for Logan, failed, the spell had spilt, and yet both Logan and Cody had managed to emerge unscathed. Thomas took advantage of the confusion caused by his teammate's attack and cast a Flipendo that was right on target, and Ana would have not particularly enjoyed being Logan at that moment. The stormcloud rumbled threateningly another time, but Ana knew at this point that it was all bark and no bite when it came to the Hufflepuffs.

Things were getting weird, and Ana could tell it was a matter of time until the players began to fall. Who would emerge victorious remained a question...

Pericles' smile was satisfied as his Ventus split in twain. Though both potential targets evaded it, he was clearly quite fond of the wind jinx, an air-based spell for an airy lad. He could still feel the fatigue and ache from prior injuries, though they weren't enough to slow him yet. "Solid hit," he quietly complimented Tom, tone distracted as he carefully considered the next step in their strategy.

Action: As Strategized

[font=century gothic]Yes. Fumos came at a cost. Cody was suffering now. His attempt to bodyblock his partner severely failed. He would look towards his opponents once more, his eyes narrowing, his wand, once again, was drawn back. He dared not to say anything. Nothing. He noticed that Logan was in- not healthy state.[/font]

Logan could really feel the fatigue hitting her at this point and just wanted to lay down and sleep for a week. She was not out of the game yet and knew she needed to try harder as she quickly extinguished the flames that crawled across her robes. She may have been able to avoid the Ventus aimed at her, but the same could not be said about the Knockback Jinx that sent her flying back. The girl was not in a good mood.
