OOC: Since Juniper has not posted in over a month, it is implied that she left the hospital wing shortly after this interaction. (No doubt speechless and star struck in the presence of such a magnificent frog.) The desk is now open to another student.

A few days after the fall ball of 2021
Henry walked through the corridors, hands fidgeting with the pocket on his slytherin dueling hoodie. The teen felt his anxiety loom overhead, awaiting a shower of doubt and self angst.

Henry is about to walk into his least favorite place at Hogwarts and speak to his least favorite and possibly most frightening person. Henry felt the teeth marks of his orange feline; Loki nibbleing on his ear tip.

The feline sat on his onwer's right shoulder and was helping his relax by nibbleing his ear tip, a distraction. Henry took a few breaths then continued down the cobblestone corridor watching the flickering of torches and shadows dancing in the mere distance.

Arriving at the door of the hospital wing, Henry froze. Panicked ranaged through him as self doubt and anxiety thundered above foreshadowing a strom creeping closer. The teen thought about running, hiding away from the light and that one moment.

Loki nibbled his ear. Henry took a breath, rised his left hand toward the door then slowly opened it. Stepping inside the vase space.

Eyes darting around. Looking for the nurse. For any friends, anyone whom he may care for that could be in one of the beds at the moment. Henry didn't see any as he walked toward the hospital wing, blue gaze looking around as in a soft voice he spoke out.

"Uh Nurse Brumby? I had a question for you if your not busy at the moment?"

Disasters and monsters had come and gone, like waves. Some weeks it was working all night and day, his identity disappearing into a workhorse, trying to use all of his focus and energy on applying the trade he had worked hard on mastering. Other times, things were slow. The emergency was over eventually, and everyone went back to their classes and continued life. Not everyone needed equal care, it was easier for some more than others to overcome those first few times when you are faced with your own mortality. Even though Hogwarts was safe for what it was, it was still a castle filled with hundreds of magical children. They would never be safe from one another.

Kelsey's thoughts had been becoming more solemn the longer he worked at Hogwarts. It had been a good decision, he was even making friends with the staff, and having a lot of fun getting to know them and all the students. Still, it was hard to remain chipper when his job was to be around the sick and the sullen. When he was a traveling doctor, he hadn't realized how much easier it was to treat people when you didn't know the patients. He'd be gone along with the emergency, he wouldn't have to see them every day afterwards, watch the damage never really heal. He would manage, though. He was in a position to help, and that's where he wanted to be.

On one of those slower days, the whole kerfuffle of the last ball being all but gone from the wing, Brumby was alerted to turn from his stocking by a voice calling for him. Swiveling his chair to face the desk, he'd be just a few feet away from his usual spot, his eyes good enough to see the young boy he recognized. It wasn't just for the memorable way he asked for help on a broken bone, but he was also the type who visited sick friends often. So much so, he was practically a regular.

"Hi! Henry!" Kels waved, too lazy to scooch his chair forward to the desk. "Yeah I got time, what's up?"

The teen might have fliched at the sound of the school nurse's voice. Attempting to keep a calm, emotionless face as he breath though the panic of the situation.

Loki gently nibbleing his onwer's esr tip, a distraction. A distraction from the anxiety. The teen took a step then another closer to the man, the man with a gap tooth. The man that so many smiled toward or found comfort in. The man whose job is it to heal, heal the injured and broken at Hogwarts. The man who increased Henry's anxiety and rayher terrified him.

The third year brushed a few strands of hair, looking for the right words as he spoke"I'm sorry to bother you, nurse uh mister Brumby," his nerves shone clearly through his words, confusing his thoughts as he continued"I have only a few questions for uh you." Wishing that he had worte down the questions, the teen darted his gaze downward. Staring at the cracked floor, covered in memories and surrounded by the scent of medicine and blood... at least Henry assumed it was, the scents in a hospital setting often confuse the young werewolf.

Holdimg his arms over his chest, gaze still dircted downward as he spoke"how- h.. howdidyouknow?" His words cane rushing out, a scrambled mess. The teen looked for a answer as he questions his own future, taking a breath. Eyes lifting up, looking at the nurse. The teen took another breath then spoke"how did you know that you wanted to he a healer?"

When Henry flinched, and then moved uncomfortably around as he tried to find the words to the questions he intended to ask, Kelsey started to feel a bit uncomfortable too. He wasn't exactly brand new to being avoided, not only did many people not like healers by association to disease and death, but his personality was sometimes described as obnoxious and annoying. Many of his own peers had shunned him during school for one reason or another, and he learned how to not let it bother him. It was different though when it was a kid, especially when they were all supposed to be his responsibility. Them being scared of the wing, or unwilling to talk to him, could mean he might end up neglecting their health. It was not fun to think about.

That aside, he was surprised by Henry's question, perking up after it was said and wheeling over after all, scooching his chair lazily with his feet on the ground.

"Ah! Well, fer me personally, I grew up with a mum what was a healer. I saw sick people all the time, desperate an' miserable all of 'em." Kels would gesture with his hands as he spoke, excited to be asked to talk about himself. "That moment when they had hope again, when the desperation disappeared, I loved that. Before I knew what magic was, that was magic t'me. Answers to problems, hope in darkness."

He knew it was mostly a surface answer, but he couldn't tell right off the bat how much Henry actually wanted to hear. He could go on and on, but Henry barely seemed able to stay put for more than a second without something disturbing him. "Why do'ya ask?"

Henry held his arms over his chest, his anxiety thundering over head as he looked over toward the nurse.

The teen always felt a little weary in hospital settings, the dim lighting hanging above. The crisp air and cool surface of the occasionally smooth or cracked flooring. The sensation of the room usually left a uneasy presence, a claw crawling up his spine.

The teen listened, nodding toward thr nurse. For a moment he forgot where he was, takinf a few steos closer to the man as he listened.
His answer was not expected but it helped him, well a bit before he looked up at the man. Wides eye. Unsure how to answer the present question.

"uh-" Henry muttered casting his gaze down, worried about his answer. His words. About the nurse's reponse, about their reaction. Tapping his shoes aginest the floor, Loki nibbled at his ear tip. A distraction. The teen took a breath then spoke"well uh- at the ball a few days when I was helping and healing a few of the students there was uh a moment or I don't know," the teen cast his gaze around, his eyes flashing at the differnt scenes happening.

His mind spiraled with thoughts. His anxiety fueling from the sudden doubt, from the sudden chaos swirling his mind. The teen delt his hands tremble a little a sudden breath then forcing himself to look up. To maintain eye contact with the nurse. The teen knew it was to kate to run, to turn back as he spoke"something about helping others at the ball brought comfort, brought light and I don't know it felt uh amazing to see them better," since the ball the teen was considering becoming a healer. Helping others regularly and spreading a little light in the world. That was until Henry remembered a fact. A key fact.

No one would want a healer who is a werewolf, a monster.

"It's a ridiculous thought anyway, no one would want me as a healer," Henry spoke mainly to himself his gaze casted down before looking up at the nurse as he spoke"I'm sorry to taking your time and thank you for helping everyone, sir."

Kels would nod along at the deer in the headlights, who was Henry trying to answer a question. He had seen Henry interact with his friends, not really eavesdropping, but a normal amount of looking around to make sure no one was breaking the rules. He knew Henry wasn't like this with his peers, so it had to be him, whether because he was an adult or because he was a healer.... or something else, he didn't know.

His words though were genuine, and they made Kels smile. Lots of kids came to him saying they were interested in healing for one reason or another, but not many of them had discovered in in the field, for lack of a better phrase. When it was something that drew you in the moment you did it, that was passion. Before Kels could elucidate or commiserate, Henry immediately shot the idea down. So then, Kels would frown sadly.

"Wha?" He'd whine, before Henry stated making to leave. Kels was not in the business of being pushy or prying, but it was sad to see someone say they loved something only to immediately deny it. "Sure, but why wouldn't anybody want you? Like, I dunno if you've ever needed help before, but it don't exactly make you picky."

If Henry wanted to leave, Kels wouldn't stop him, but if Henry stuck around, he'd continue. "In fact, my mum had a bit of a reputation herself. Most people thought of her as a con artist an' a hack, but that didn't stop people from seekin' her out. An' I mean, lookit me, t'only reason I'm here is because I'm good at what I do, not because anyone likes me."

Henry didn't know why he went there or asked his question. The teen knew the result wouldn't be anything major, anxiety thundering down from above as he pulled at his sleeves. Figuring he should leave. That he wasted enough of the nurse's time, rhe man had a responsibility. A job. And Henry saw himself as getting in the way of the man and nothing more.

He started to walk away when he heard the nurse's words. Coming to a halt. Henry left his eyes staring at the door but listening to the man's words. Why wouldn't others want him to help? If you need help then you take whay you can reach and your not picky on the fact. That made sense but Henry didn't think that it fits.

The teen thought helping and healing was brilliant, a lart of him really did light up when he helped those at the ball. Watching them regain their strength, confidence. Going from bleeding or broken to standing in their feet and fighting once more. The ones who fight are important in any battle but what if they get injured? When they need help then who helps them?

Henry smiled softly to himself. To become a healer and help those around him. To see that look after the injures heal more often, it sounded nice. Hebry shook himself out of it, it was a nice dream but he had to keep to reality. A parr of him doubted that a werewolf can ever become a healer. That a werewolf would be trusted around the sick and injured.

Henry felt his eyes turn from the door to the nurse. Listening to his voice, his words. Nodding toward them. About his own struggles or feats that came with the job. Not everyone likes the nurse but one way or another they need the nurse.

Henry felt his feet move closer to the nurse, Loki nibbled at his ear as he softly spoke"what do you when someone says you shouldn't be here or should be helping?" Choosing his words carefully, the teen looked up at the man. A part of him still curious of this path.

His eyes gazed around at the beds, hua mind flickered to the student interns. Earlier in the year, he thought signing up wasn't for him. A werewolf whoes a healer? Sounds like the punch lime of a cruel joke. But now... now Henry slightly retook the idea maybe... just maybe.

"Uh-" Henry sputtered unsure what to say or how to say it, takimg deep breaths as he continued"what if one wasn't allowed to be a healer because of a prior condition or bias?" The teen felt himself looking around, quickly regretting about what he is going to do next as he spoke"can anyone apply to be a intern here?"

For once, Henry wasn't stumbling over his words, but asked a direct question, a real question. Though he was still evasive as to why he thought someone wouldn't be allowed to be a healer, he still asked. Kels would quirk his mouth around again, his curiosity sparked, but not quite rude enough to demand he spill it. Maybe if he was a peer he would have started nagging him, but since he was a kid, he was learning how to hold his tongue. After all, if he did become an intern, maybe he would have the time to get to know him better anyway.

"Unless yer bein' quarantined, you can be a healer." Kels said, throwing his hands up. "An' don't get me wrong, there will always be people out there what will tell you 'you can't' or 'you shouldn't', but it's not because they're right. Y'can't jes' listen t'every naysayer and accept it, y'gotta listen t'yerself an' accept yerself."

Kels was not meant to make impassioned speeches, his speech was on the cusp of being indecipherable as it was. Still, it was something that mattered to him, so he tried to say it as best he could. "As fer bein' an intern, I don't discriminate."

If you asked the slytherin lad two years ago what he wanted to after hogwarts then the eleven year old would have said to becomr a magizoologist. A aspiration that coild be described as a childhood dream job.

Now the young teen stood in the hospital wing more confused and uncertain about his future than before. A part of him doubted that old age was a option with the ominous wolf side of him lingering in the shadows and a part of him dwelled that the wizarding world would always have its biases and prejudices. That a life as solitude and isolation with magical creatures could be the best for everyone.

But as the lad stood there in that room, that he grew wearily of yet also comfortable in listening to a man who for the most part thought of as strange and a little intimating. His thoughts seemed to spiral, question if there could be another option for him. If those inflicted with lycanthropy could live a normal a life like anyother witch or wizard. That they don't have to live in hiding or be shunned in the wizarding world, that they could help and do some good to.

Listening to the nurse's words. The teen wasn't sure if there are precautions or rules set for those who suffer lycanthropy in the path to become a healer but Henry still had five years to decide his path for after school and school is suppose to be the place to make those decisions.

Although the teen rather dwelled on the fact of others finding out or believing that he didn't belong there, nodding toward the nurse's words. A part of him taking them into consideration.

Don't listen to the one's who say you can't or don't belong but instead listen to yourself... accept yourself.

But what if the ones who say I can't are in my head? And what if I'm not sure that I accept myself or even like myself... underneath it all I'm just a monster- no...

On the nurse's next few words, Henry looked up at the man with wide eyes as he spoke"you don't?" The teen wasn't sure about applying to be a intern, the thought sounded intimating but it could help him decide his future. Nodding the teen looled up at the nurse, a thin smile crossed his lips as he spoke"thank you for the help sir and have a good day." A nod then the teen turned on his heels, walking from the hospital wing as Loki stood up on his shoulder.
