Feeling more comfortable with @AngelFyre McCubbin
"Yeah, yeah, " he nodded, his thumb now gently brushing over the back of her hands, feeling comfort begin to wash over him now and the nervous feeling leaving. He watched her and smiled, glad that she was so accepting of this. "I told Aunt Maggie back my First Year on Holiday break...she was rather surprised to say the least but I knew she was always going to accept me no matter what. She is absolutely the most selfless person I've ever met and I'm certain she'll always be there for me."
As for the students at Hogwarts. Who all DID know? Haley knew, she was the one he had made the official discovery with, and then there was Clair and Samantha. Henry might have known if he had paid any attention when they found out about the death of Alexa. "Some figured it out on their own. Some were told. It's not something I'm necessarily trying to hide but it's weird - apparently Hogwarts is one of the only schools of magic to accept halfbreeds and yet I'm not sure the entire school is so accepting. I guess I just feel it's better to keep it inconspicuous."
"I'm glad you missed that article as well. To think there'd be a chance that you and I wouldn't be where we are right now..." he paused. Where were they? They were two Hufflepuffs in the school Library. Of course he meant more than that but he couldn't rightfully place it into words right now.
He then felt as she shook slightly and he wondered if it was the chill from his hands and he slowly removed them. "AngelFyre? Are you alright?" His voice was low at a whisper and he watched her with concern.

Revelations
When AngelFyre opened her eyes, she felt a little sick to her stomach and was also feeling rather confused. What the heck just happened she wondered? She tried desperately to replay in her mind some of the images .... no, they were not quite that. Well, she did not think they were anyway. It felt like something she was seeing, but it was so whip fast that the images just sort of blurred into the feelings that had just washed over her. Those awful feelings. It felt as if every synapse in her body had been been firing in overdrive and it was the single most intense thing she had ever experienced. When AngelFyre was coming back to herself, she could hear Simon's voice, still in a whisper, but it was filled with concern.AngelFyre Tries to Explain to @Simon Kincaid What Just Happened
"Yes," she muttered a little shakily. "Yes, Simon. I am fine. I think. I just had the strangest sensation." She now looked at him and his expression showed even more concern than his voice had. She attempted a smile while telling him that, "It was the oddest thing. I am not sure I can really explain it any better than to say that it was almost like a movie reel was being played at record speed behind a magnificent display of bursting fireworks. It was a clear case of sensory overload."
Still seeing his look of concern, she laughed, shook her head, then rubbed her eyes. "Methinks someone may have spiked the pumpkin juice at dinner this evening. I am fine. Promise."
Feeling still a little shaky, she leaned over and asked one last question. "The man you met over the summer, the man you think might be your father... how did he strike you? I mean, what kind of a feeling, if any, did you get from him?"

Trying to push past the concern with @AngelFyre McCubbin
He smiled a little at her stating about the pumpkin juice and would try and feel a little more at ease there. Maybe she just wasn't feeling well and should head back to her dormitory to lay down. Sometimes when one studied too much...
It was quite interesting she asked about his father and he didn't really put the two together - her moment just now and the man. Instead he figured she was backtracking when she asked. "Uhh..." he paused. It had been seven months ago and so it took him a moment to recount the encounter to figure out his feelings - at least to put them into words, anyway. "Uh, intense," he began with. "Stiff? Observational. Unsettling." And it was then that he realized that maybe, just maybe, him having contacted him wasn't the best of ideas. Should he pursue it further?
He had to. This was his father.
Simon then began to search through his bag where he found his baggie of lemon drops and he pulled it out, extending it towards AngelFyre. "Have one, darling. Maybe it'll help." Perhaps she was getting a low blood sugar attack or feeling lightheaded. He just wanted to make sure she was alright. "Or if you think you should go to the Hospital Wing or back to the Dormitory, I'd be happy to escort you.
He stood up and brought his hand out for her to take. Maybe if she didn't want to go anywhere, they could even stay at the Library and look at old editions of the Hogwarts Headliner and he could show her that horrible November issue. Simon did try to make mental note of this, because whatever it was that just happened to his fellow Hufflepuff - he was concerned still.

AngelFyre Lets Her Guard Down With @Simon Kincaid
Her heart sank when Simon described his feelings about the one time encounter last summer with the man he thought may be his father. “Unsettling,” he had said. That was bad. Very bad. She had no idea why that felt important, but it did. AngelFyre could not pinpoint a single image which she had just flashed upon… or which had flashed upon her?... but what she could pinpoint was the timing. She remembered she had been thinking about the man, the Vampire, that Simon believed may be his father when the episode hit. She would not be able to say why for certain in that moment, or for millions of moments thereafter even, but AngelFyre could feel it in her marrow that those sickening feelings were somehow connected to that man. Still, being only 11, (almost 12!) what could she possibly know of such things? Maybe she had been closer to being right when she had earlier joked with Simon about someone spiking the pumpkin juice. Maybe she just had a case of food poisoning? It mattered not at this point anyway because as more time passed, the feelings became more distant, and honestly, AngelFyre was grateful for that.
She was now sitting back in her chair, watching him dig into his bag. She was absolutely delighted when he brought out his treasured baggie of lemon drops and offered her one. She was even more delighted by the endearment. Did he just call me darling? Get a hold of yourself, AF. It is the Brit in him. They like to call people all kinds of affectionate names, like love… or darling? Her head was still swimming a bit. She could not remember hearing that term of endearment used like that so casually, but she was not in a condition to argue with herself. She just felt a little wiped out. She smiled gratefully at him and reached for the offered bag, took one out and pushed the baggie back towards him.
Probably because she was tired and feeling like they had just scaled Mt. Everest together, her guard was down and AngelFyre responded, in a perfect Scottish brogue for a change, “Thank you, mo chridhe.” Thank you, my heart. He could fash on that for a little while with no Google to give him an instantaneous answer. And if he did care enough to find out the meaning, what did it matter, anyway? His heart had long, red hair. He would be Simon and go on as if nothing was going on, seemingly oblivious to the feelings roiling within the other person, because to recognize them in any fashion would be unfair to his girlfriend and would only embarrass the other person... me…maybe even himself. And honestly, AF, would you want him to go behind her back? What would that say about him, and about you? So, this would be the dance they would dance until AngelFyre could even begin to think about getting a new dance partner, which would likely be the Twelfth of Never, a nod to a musical reference she felt sure he would appreciate if he were a mind reader.
She smiled slowly as she unwrapped the lemon drop and popped it into her mouth. The sour sensation was bracing and began to help clear her head. As she was pulling her hand back from the baggie, she saw her watch and noticed the time. Dang it! She needed to get back to the Common Room to fill out her Dueling Team application so that she could turn it in the following day. Looking up, she heard Simon offering to escort her to the Hospital Wing or to the dormitory. She adored his gallantry. Truly.
She happily reached for his offered hand and stood. “Honestly, Simon, I am feeling much better, but I do need to get back to the Common Room. I have a Dueling Team application I need to fill out and turn in tomorrow, and the information I need is on the Billboard.” She was now standing next to him, closer than she had been to him since the evening in the Rehearsal Room, and she felt the usual butterflies threatening to overtake her. He still looked concerned, but she plowed onward. “I know you never got the chance to delve into your own studies this evening, so while I deeply appreciate your offer to escort me back to the dorm, and I really do, what would be more helpful right now is if you could help me get these mountains of books into the carts for re-shelving?”
Not knowing what possessed her other than an attempt at a lighthearted effort to maybe make him smile, she balled her fist up and lightly punched him in the shoulder, something she used to do with her best friend Kendric at home when they wanted to show affection without the possibility of getting cooties. “Och! Wipe the worry away, Laddie.” Just for good measure, she was going to punch him one more time, but she suddenly stopped about halfway into it and slowly opened up her fist. And then, in the most intimate and reassuring gesture she could think to make under the circumstances, AngelFyre stood before him and instead placed her hand over his heart. “My hand to your heart, I promise all is well. Now, please. Help me with the books.” She kept her hand there for a much shorter time than it likely felt, but all she knew was that she was too afraid to look into his eyes in those moments, for however many of them there were.

Revelations with @AngelFyre McCubbin
"Go on, go get that duelling application," Simon encouraged her and gave a soft smile, glancing down to her hand that was against his chest. She went to go remove it but he reached out, taking her hand gently into his own. "But first, one moment?" he whispered, his head tilting down in hopes that she'd raise her head to look at him and he could see those bright eyes of hers one more moment before they departed.
"Thank you," he spoke softly. Simon lifted her hand a little more until it came to his lips and he softly kissed it. "Thank you for accepting me as I am." It meant a lot to him. It meant everything to him. He didn't know what it was but there was some sort of connection with AngelFyre that he didn't want to lose.
It seemed all too often he wondered what people would think when they found out what he truly was and so far, it really hadn't deterred others from being around him. AngelFyre was no different in this matter and maybe he needed to start relinquishing so much hesitation in the matter. Okay, so maybe he was a dhampir but he was still Simon Ezra Kincaid.
Having now realized what he had just done, Simon let go of her hand and gave her a soft smile. "Okay, go on. I'll take care of all these, and hey? Give 'em hell, AngelFyre!" he meant of duelling, although it wasn't like she was going to do her first duel just yet, this was just the application. Still, Simon couldn't imagine why anyone wouldn't want AngelFyre on their team - as she was dedicated and intelligent, compassionate and determined, and just all around amazingly brilliant.
Simon flashed her another smile before taking the first stack of books and began towards the shelves to put them away. When he finished with those he'd come back for the second stack, hoping that he hadn't overstepped boundaries there. It was a worry he wouldn't carry long, because towards the bottom of the second stack of books was her paper with all the notes and sketches she had done, illustrating her affections for him.
