Tragic moments
Clair sat down at the Ravenclaw table, hungry. Today was a very nice day and she was planning to go for a nice long walk after Classes, When the Owls flew in Clair paid no attention, she bad not gotten any owls in a while, Belle had stopped sending them, Misty had not sent one since Christmas, Well as Clair got some food on her plate, she did not look up until something bight her ear, she sat up and looked to see a Owl, a small tiny owl sitting on her shoulder, Clair looked at it, in it's beak was a letter, she took the letter from the owl, and gave it a cookie, before shooing it away. She opened the letter and started to read;Forward dated to Feb/16/2022
Dear Clair;
I'm sorry to send you this owl, but it's is needed.
Last night Mum (Misty) died in her sleep, she has had cancer for a while, but refused to get treatment, I'm sorry.
~ Belle
Clair looked at the letter, was this real? Was she stuck in a dream?
Then it sunk in, she would never see her mum again, and then the worst thought came to mind, what would happen to the farm?
Clair stood up and ran from the room, tears streaming down her face, this could not be real.

The search for @Clair Fernandez
Segregation at Hogwarts was the worst. While the house system had it's upsides, it certainly had its downsides and having to sit at the Hufflepuff Table for all his meals was one of them. It wasn't that Simon didn't love his fellow badgers because he did, but some of his best friends - including Clair Fernandez - were in other houses. When he got to the Great Hall, he glanced over at the Ravenclaw Table but didn't see her.
So off to the Hufflepuff Table he went. He wanted to tell her something that Rascal had done that night. He had curled up right on his little workspace in his dormitory next to a pair of sunglasses and if Simon stepped back just the right way, it looked like he was wearing them practically! Oh, if only he had his iPhone with him or capture such a moment but alas - not at Hogwarts.
He drank a few sips of water made small talk with a couple of his friends within his own house. The next time he glanced to the other table, he saw her but she was just getting a letter. It looked like it was a notecard and he wondered who had sent it to her. Maybe, since it was just days after Valentine's Day, one of the farm hands back at the farm had their eye on her instead of Izzy or Belle. Belle already had her boy and Izzy, well, Simon know he could make her feel less lonely if she ever ventured that route.
He watched as Clair read and her face seemed shocked and in a flash she was up - belongings and all - darting from the Great Hall.
Gone.
Something was wrong.
He would have known it even if she didn't have the solemn face. He would have known it even if she didn't dash off. Clair Fernandez was his best friend and whatever it was, he was going to be there for her. He grabbed his bag, slung it over his shoulder, and rushed out after her.
"Clair?" he called out as he exited the entrance to the Great Hall. "Clair!" He could see her ahead a little and hurried to catch up with her. "Clair?" his voice lowered again as he approached her. "...What's wrong, Clair?"

Clair was a wreak, well anyone would be if they just found out their Mum was dead!
Clair's face was now completely red, with tear stains, well not really stains, because she was still crying, her eyes were blurry from the tears, and she really had no idea where to go, she could slip into the bathroom, but, well that would be weird if anyone was refreshing them selves.
So she paused, then decided her dorm was the right choice, with fast steps she turned towards the direction of the Ravenclaw dorms, if her sister was not a total jerk Clair might have gone to her, yet her Sister was a jerk, and she was not about to go crying like a baby, no not when she was at a school, a school were Rumors spread like fire.
She was deaf to anything at the moment so lost in her own grief, grief that was blinding her.
So when she heard her name, she was rather surprised, and turned around on her heels, seeing the blurry outline of Simon, Clair rushed towards him, chucking herself into him,
"Oh Simon!" She cried, shoving the letter at him, saying it made it more real, anything to make this seem like a nightmere.
But it was all real, she could not run from it forever, soon it would have to sink fully in.

Sadness for @Clair Fernandez
From the way she stormed out, he already knew something was wrong. Normally when they'd see each other, they'd give an exaggerated VERY LARGE wave in the Great Hall to one another, keeping it going until it seemed someone nearby them was annoyed - even if it went on way.too.long.
As he was catching up with her, he noticed she seemed a little disoriented and when she finally turned around with tears, his heart sank. Not knowing what happened, he still knew something BIG happened and his heart hurt for her. She hurried over to him and collided into him but he was there to catch her and brought his arms protectively, securely, and affectionately around her.
Simon took the note in one hand and glanced it as he held her. If it had been a longer night, he would have waited to read it and given his undivided attention to Clair but since it was so short his eyes skimmed over the words. Wait. What?
Simon felt even more sad and squeezed Clair tighter. He couldn't help with this. Well, he could help her deal with it but he couldn't do the best case scenario here and bring her mother back. He couldn't cure her of all her sadness right then and there with a flash of his big smile or a joke. This was a heavy matter - one that deserved a longer damn note than that.
"I'm so...so sorry, Clair," he whispered and then titled his head down to gently kiss the top of her head.

Tragic moments
No words could help how Clair felt, death had been apart of Clair's life forever, animal's going to meat, pets getting old, Her father dying when she was only eight, Clair had lived a life were she understood death, she did not fear death, yet as anyone would, she stilled was upset, maybe being at Hogwarts made it worse, she was not even sure if she could get home for her mum's funeral, she had not been able to say goodbye, but as she lead into Simon's body, tears still flowing, she started to think, and then a horrid thought came into her mind, "Simon, oh Simon." She whispered "I'm now a....." She really did not want to say it, but she guessed Simon would figure it out, with no parents, she would be a orphan, this was something that would be very hard, Considering she was not sure what would happen to the farm, could Belle be her guardian? Would Belle even want to be? And if she could, where would they live? Hopefully not at her Boyfriends house, Clair hated him far to much for that!
If Belle was able to keep the farm, how would she pay for it? She would need a good job, and high pay, the farm was big, and there was many animals on the farm.
Clair pushed herself into Simon, "It must be a dream, please tell me this is just a really bad dream!" She half pleaded.

There for @Clair Fernandez
"I wish it was. I wish I could tell you that," he said and held her close, his hand gently stroking down through her hair, hoping that maybe it would calm her.
Being an orphan wasn't so bad. Simon had been one technically since he was three. He had been fatherless his whole life, without a mother for most of it...but he had Maggie. Amazing Aunt Maggie was always there and Clair had Belle and Izzy and who knows who else. It would hurt always and it would feel numb for awhile but someone would step up and someday, something would feel like home again for Clair Fernandez and until then, he'd have to be that stability, that 'home.' "I'm here for you," he whispered. "I know it might not be the best but whenever you start feeling like this is too much or you can't do it or you're alone - I'm here. Alright?"
Simon closed his eyes, feeling his friend's pain and he leaned down to kiss her head once more. "Things have a way of working out, even if we don't know what the solution is right away."
Poor Misty. Part of him wished that Clair knew so that the last time she saw her over the holidays they could have fit more in but part of him was sort of glad that it wasn't that way. That way would have been hard, drawn out, exaggerated. This way, Clair had an authentic experience with her mother - one where her mother worked hard, made amazing meals, and fussed about her playfully out of love. Her mother seemed like a woman who had the best intentions for her children - sending them off to a magical school although she wasn't much of a fan of it herself. What he did know though, was that her daughter, the Ravenclaw one at least, would continue to grow to make something wonderful of herself. That could be her legacy enough, farm or no farm...but he hoped to anything that her family could somehow keep it because it was so beloved to Clair.

Tragic moments
Clair leaned into him, her crying had gone from being able to be heard, to silent, hut she was still crying nonetheless.
As the shock set in Clair felt like the world was tearing her apart, and turning her upside down, as if she was being mugged, but mugged of all happiness.
As she leaned into him Clair felt soothed by the rhythm of his hand, the calm rhythm, never changing.
She wished life was like facts, Facts never changed or died, or left you, Facts souls always be the same, staying where you needed them, when you needed them.
She thought back to the last time she had seen her mum, she had said good bye right before board the Hogwarts express, she had boarded and said "Good bye Mother! See you next break!" She had hugged her and and smelled in that wonderful smell of perfume and barn in one last time, she had thought she would smell That smell again, no, yet there was always that 'i'll see you later' why did people say that? When they might not see them later? People acted like they would see the other person again, het they might not, really you should act like it is the last time you will see them.

Escaping trivial matters with @Clair Fernandez
"Come on, come with me," Simon said softly. Before long, people were going to come out of that Great Hall. They were going to start discussing things like broom racing and quidditch and duelling - things where it truly honestly didn't matter which house won. They were going to discuss what they were going to do that upcoming weekend because it was coming upon them and all the FUN they were going to have. It wasn't going to be chatter that Clair needed to hear - not in this state of mind where she was consumed by sadness.
"Come with me, love," and he kept his arms around her as he began to lead her just a bit down the ways from The Great Hall to this little alcove in the corridor where there was a bench and he went o sit down, pulling her with him so she was still in his embrace.
There weren't words he said that could make her feel better. There was nothing he could do to make this situation any better. "I'll try everything I can to help you through this. I'm here, alright?" he whispered to her." He had already pretty much said that, but he didn't want her to forget it. "Let's just stay here a moment." She could cry. She could cry as much as she needed but at least she'd have someone with her. There surely was going to be a lot of tears in the next days to come, and Simon knew he wouldn't always be there for her so he he held her close now while he could.

Tragic moments
The last thing Clair wanted to do was be seen crying, by a group of students.
Considering that Clair found crying rather startling, maybe it was because salty water falling from one's eyes did not seem normal, but, it was still something that would make the Ravenclaw stop in her tracks!
Clair followed Simon, right now, she cared about nothing, nothing at all.
It was like she was falling know to this deep dark pit, that had no way out, at least not at the moment. With her head starting to hurt from the tears, and her eyes puffy from again, the tears. Clair sat down and leaned into Simon, tears flowing down her cheeks,
"Oh Simon!" She said, guilt filling her voice "Your going to have to change before Class!" She said, pointing at the wet spot she had made, "I'm so sorry, that's gross too." She muttered, her mind still turning, thinking, maybe the shock was setting in, maybe she was a awful person, maybe she had fun dry, but her tears seemed to slow to a almost stop, this made her feel guilty, why did she feel Guilty? Anger surged up, anger at her mum for dying, (could her mum really help it?) anger for feeling guilty, And then Sadness, sadness for her Mum, for everything, even as she sat here, she could see things her mum would have loved, and things that she would have hated too, everything some how related to her mother.
Poor Clair was so mixed up, every feeling a mess.

Wishing he could help @Clair Fernandez more
"I don't need to go change," he said to her, wanting her to not make this at all about him. The wet spots from the tears would dry and that was absolutely one of the least of their worries right now. Besides, if she thought this was bad, it was probably a good thing that Clair hadn't seen Simon cry. Henry Knight had - if he took notice and so had Haley during one of their fights at Summer Camp.
"Do you think you're going to class?" He knew that the students were supposed to go to class and not miss unless there was a BIG reason, that they were very sick or something and Simon absolutely felt something like this would fall into such a category. Still though, this was Clair. She was a Ravenclaw after all and carried several of their traits to heart. She might want to go to class so she didn't miss.
And maybe it would be better that way. Perhaps she could be distracted by it and not have hours upon hours worth of misery. Still, he somewhat wished that Hogwarts mixed years within classes and the two could share at least one class together so he could check up on her throughout the day.
"And if you do decide to go to classes, maybe we could meet up for lunch? Grab some things and eat out in the Courtyard?"
