Gryffindor vs Slytherin: Match 2
Mention: @Alec MasonSpells flew, one past Piper's ear. She quickly sidestepped, temporarily thrown off balance, but Piper had little time to react before her vision went dark. The Blindfold Spell. She was not even sure who had cast it, but she did know she had to hit them back, a fire of indignance threading its way through her chest. The Slytherin felt a gust of wind fly past her and heard the boy on the other team yell at his teammate to duck, so she deduced Astrea was successful in some capacity. Following the sound of the boy's voice, she raised her wand and cast the first spell that came to mind. A second later she was rewarded by increasing laughter, and Piper couldn't help giving a hint of a smile at her unlikely success. He was probably the one who blindfolded her. Never mind what the books said, revenge was certainly sweet.Sorry for the brevity this round, this week has been way too busy!Doing as strategized

Gryffindor vs Slytherin: Match 2
Between the concentration of overlapping incantations came the alarmed cry of one of their opponents, the warning to dodge out of the way of Astrea's spell made useless by his lack of brevity. Much to Astrea’s dissatisfaction, her cast had just barely its target, impeding the strength of the wind jinx and failing to prevent her partner from being targeted twice fold.
Astrea, apparently read as the lesser prioritised, remained unhindered by either of the Pendrast Pups, one lion in the fits of magically induced laughter and the other caught in the throes of billowing wind. Physically their duo was unscathed for the first round of the duel, but it seemed that near all of the spells released this opening round was balancing precariously on the title of potentially wasteful near-misses.

The good news: Alec had been much nicer this time. The spell made him laugh, just like it had last time, but THIS time it seemed much more good-natured. Jake almost let out a sigh of relief.
The bad news: When the next round of spells began, the Gryffindors wand pointed towards the blindfolded girl on the Slytherin team, and Jake heard the sound of his least favorite spell.
Piper tried to take her blindfold off in time, but the Gryffindors were just that much faster, and both of them at once seemed to realize the target they should aim for. Astrea tried to fire a disarming spell at the two Gryffindors - a VERY impressive one, that went for both lions at the same time (how did she DO that? It was amazing! Was that what you learned when you were older?)
But her spell was too late. Jake had just enough time to be amazed at the way her spell branched, but though Rose (still unable to move without losing her balance from the wind) would feel her wand yank out of her hand, it was too late, she had already fired it, and just as the blindfold left Piper's eyes, she would see flames lighting her robe, one on the upper leg, and one on her side, both spells hitting their mark at once.
Jake winced and clutched his wand tighter.
He had gotten prepared for this. Tried his best at least...he KNEW that fire was a popular dueling spell and there was nothing he could do about it. Any fear of fire that he still had from those days in his first year he had to push as far away as possible. He could do that...maybe...but pushing out his fear of the other girl being burned? That was much harder. But he would handle it better this time than last. He HAD to. He bit his lip and watched for signs of distress on the other girl. Two fire spells...at the same time! He hoped she would put it out before it spread...

Gryffindor vs Slytherin: Match 2
@Henry Knight | @Alec Mason | @Astrea Soleil Neptune | @Piper Clark
Alec called out for her to duck, but it wasn't very effective. He sheepishly apologized, and she shook her head. "It's okay!" she reassured him, turning her focus back on the Slytherin team.
Almost in sync, Rose and Alec sent fire spells towards Piper. She caught on fire in two places, and their spells were strong. Satisfaction rippled through her, glad to finally get a good hit. And it want just a lucky hit, either. It was good. Piper ripped off her blindfold.
Astrea was somehow able to send two disarming spells towards the Gryffindors. As Rose's wand flew out of her hand, she was inwardly amazed- how did Astrea do that? But on the outside, she kept a poker face. Her amazement quickly dissipated into frustration. She hated being without her wand.

Gryffindor vs Slytherin: Match 2
They'd done well, they were doing well. Or at least well enough that Alec's confidence would skyrocket quickly. It was a fair match, and he and Rose were very capable of taking the other time down. It was just about playing this right. Alec reflected upon his failure to warn Rose, he was wondering if he was going to need to switch things up. The shouting clearly wasn't grabbing her attention and with all Alec's brain power focused on the duel it's not as if he could think of anything better.
Hex code:#A0A9B8
The only option he had was to stop.
The next set of spells went about as smoothly as anyone would expect. Him and Rose were in sync, one of their opponents took a blindfold off and the other tried to disarm both of them. Even Alec was surprised by this, at least he had been able to get out of the way. Rose must have noticed the way it was heading towards both of them as well. Alec was unsure whether she was like him captivated by the sight, or simply didn't see, but she didn't move and was disarmed.
Perhaps they weren't in such a good position after all.

Gryffindor vs Slytherin: Match 2
The teams were decently matched, all things considered, but such a statement did not fully encapsulate the quickly-borne power struggle on the duelling piste.
To Astrea's side, two plumes of brilliant green flame found ready kindling between the fabric of her partner's robes, whose inability to see no doubt aided the other team's plans. The stench of smoke, acrid and hot, slowly permeated the area around part of the piste as Piper moved to tear off the blindfold that was her temporary handicap.
The unfortunate turn of events did little else than bolster Astrea's will, causing her to draw forth from her magic a seamlessly split cast with half-successful results. The lioness' wand flying out of her hand and scattering to the ground ensured a temporary flip in incapacitation situations- they were not to be defeated by spellwork so easily.

Gryffindor vs Slytherin: Match 2
Piper's short-lived victory was upstaged. As she ripped off the majorly inconvenient blindfold, her brief second of defenselessness invited Gryffindor intercession. Quickly, they both set her afire with incendios. At least Astrea had been able to cast an impressive disarming charm, but that did not solve Piper's quickly spreading issue as her robes burned, unthreading themselves. She took deep breaths. In. Out. Anything to stay away from the terrible dungeon memories. The panic was trying to rise through her chest, and the second year did all she could to push it down while appearing as neutral as possible. Why did she have to be on fire all the time? She glared at the other team, wondering if anyone had ever died of being charred to death in school duelling.Doing as strategized

Even the GRYFFINDORS looked surprised at the double spell that Astrea had sent at them. Jake could understand why. He had never seen anybody do anything like that in all his history of being a duel captain (All one duel of it).
But Jake's eyes were now fixed on Piper, whose robes had gone aflame. He watched and waited anxiously for the fire on her robes to dissipate. Last duel that had happened...the flames had gone out pretty quick. But Piper would soon begin to feel the heat and worse.
Luckily for the Slytherins, the Gryffindors couldn't quite follow up as quickly as before. They had one team member incapacitated. Rose needed her wand to fight, and that left Alec alone. Rose bent down to search for her wand, perhaps hoping to get it back before the spells would start flying, but Jake saw the Slytherins' wands moving - even Piper's, her situation not stopping her from going on the attack. The Slytherin team was tough...Jake could tell.
He was sure that they were going to go for Rose - she was the one that couldn't defend herself... the one that couldn't do much to get out of the way, quick as she was as she went for her wand. But that wasn't what happened...and maybe Alec was as surprised as Jake was.
Because just as Alec was attempting to aim a disarming spell at Astrea - perhaps looking to even the odds, a knockback spell from Piper would hit his arm, sending his spell astray! Alec would be driven backwards, his disarming spell zooming off to Astrea's side. And then, just like that, his vision would go black, Astrea capitalizing on the momentary stumble with a blindfold.
Jake stared. It was somehow wrong to see the GRYFFINDOR team blindfolded. After all, it had been them that had been casting so many blindfolds of their own the whole season. He wondered how Alec was going to feel about that one. Rose was able to get to her feet, wand in hand, having luckily spotted it as it fell and not needing to do much searching, but it was too late to help her partner.
Jake watched the Slytherin team with a newfound awe. He KNEW the Gryffindor team was good, because they had beaten Dealla and Samantha. The Slytherins didn't seem scared to be facing them at all though. The fire on Piper's robes was finally starting to die down (phew), leaving her robes singed but otherwise the girl didn't seem too worse for wear...the Slytherin team looked ready for anything, as far as Jake could tell...and the Gryffindor team was down to one duelist once again.

Gryffindor vs Slytherin: Match 2
Alec and Rose not being in a good position already, he found that maybe he should have been hyping himself up. Too focused on the fact that him and Rose were in a bad position, he ended up missing the aim on his spell. It was the worst of the round of course, not only did he not aim his spell properly but he was blindfolded and the knockback jinx had been used on him.
Hex code:#A0A9B8
At least he knew Rose was alright, both of the spells having been on him. Alec let out a frustrated sigh. The third year took a deep breath to center himself, focus, they needed to pull in this win. They had too.
Alec nodded toward Rose as if that solved anything, and held his wand close to him. They could do this.Action: Doing what was/will be owled~
