Forest Exploration PV Slytherin & Ravenclaw Cl

Blaze was pumped to start the adventure it would be great and he knew it. He walked around the common room wondering where everyone was, after a minute or so he looked up at a clock and facepalmed. It had started already. "Oh no oh no!" he said running down to the grounds almost tripping on his way down. Sure Blaze wasn't the most attentive person but this was worse than not being attentive it was being ignorant and careless. 

He ran into the clearing and luckily saw a man who was walking into the forest. We ran up to him and realized he was backing up the other participants. He walked into the group and tried to be noticed. He started to act as if he had been there from the beginning. To his surprise, there were quite a lot of people. He hadn't expected many people but there was a full on crowd.  As this group walked he saw a part of the forest he hadn't been in, he had been in the forest before so it was kinda surprising. 

As Blaze walked he felt energized maybe it was adrenaline since he was nervous he would be noticed and asked where he had come from. It should be fine he told himself inhaling. 

Action: Try to enter the group without being seen doing so. 

There Dmitri stood, in the middle of a gaggle of a particularly loud bunch of students, peering closely at the entrance of the woods looking for something--anything, really--that could help him on this little trip. However, the light mist coupled with the glaring early morning light proved to be quite unhelpful to his objective--going as far as to conceal most, if not all, of the details of the Forest entrance. All the Slytherin boy saw were the blurry outlines of trees and shrubs (which is to be expected because--duh--it was a forest, but not exactly appreciated seeing as the raven-haired boy aimed to discover something that would aid him on the way inside the woods.)

Prevention and precaution is better than cure, so they say. It wouldn't make sense to do the close observation when they were finally in the embrace of the Forest seeing as they would probably be moving along in a slow, steady walk in the shadow of the tree-canopy, making it hard to take in details and concentrate--besides, anything you notice, the "inhabitants" of the Forest probably had mastered a long time ago, proving to be not quite the advantage. In this respect, available alternative escape routes are more than welcome.

Dmitri sighed, his quest for advantage resulting in naught to prove useful. 

He was snapped out of his reverie--quite forcefully--when a hand clasped his shoulder and pushed him bodily towards another Slytherin boy. Grimacing for a split second, the raven-haired boy whirled around and glared at his oppressor (who jostled the boy quite a bit seeing as he was taken by surprise and had 0 strength) who turned out to be their Head of House. His angry stare at her retreating back deepened. 

Dmitri knew her--entered her classes and saw her around the Castle a few times. 

He always thought she was cold, clinical and very... bland in everything that she does, preferring to expend effort in scowling rather than needed-relaxation for her facial muscles. Now the Slytherin boy can add rude to that list of qualities.

With a last withering glance, Dmitri Jones turned to the boy he was forced to partner up with. "You. I do not know who you are, and I don't think I really want to know that much. So, seeing as we're forced together, I would appreciate it if you take my request." He crossed his arms and smiled sickeningly sweet at the tall, dark-haired Bellamy--before the fake smile morphed into a frown. "Stay as far away from me as possible. Going into this adventure, I really wasn't looking for conversation nor company and I would oh so love it if you gave me neither.  I would like to come out of this alive and I do not think incessant distractions would help in any way."

Promptly turning his back to his "partner" (technically), Dmitri strode forward and followed his Head of House into the forest.

Inside the forest was a completely different atmosphere.

The thin mist faded into an almost imperceptible haze as they went deeper into the near-invisible path. Around them, suspicious sounds of creatures unseen could be heard, but, as Dmitri confirmed by looking at the unworried looks of the two Heads of House, no threat has come yet.

It didn't really take away from the fact that there were things out there that were aware of their presence in the woods. Goosebumps riddled Dmitri's limbs as images of line-drawings of horrible monsters crossed his mind.

If one of those creatures ever got to him, he wasn't completely sure he could deal with them with his meager physical strength.

That is, if they can get to him. However much he was cursed with lesser strength, he was just as much blessed in magical power.

Those creatures had to get through his wand first.

With that, Dmitri Jones discreetly drew his wand and held it clenched in his hand as they vigilantly trekked the woods--the only comfortable object in an otherwise dangerous environment.

Kyden stood by his new Ravenclaw partner Phaedra. He looked around at all the other students and waited for them to pair up. He spotted his best friend Dmitri and hoped that Dmitri understood why Kyden had wanted to pair up with a Ravenclaw and not his usually partner. Kyden just wanted to broaden his  friend circle really. He didn't know any Ravenclaw.

He looked towards the forest and frowned he was indeed having some last thoughts about venturing out into the forest. Some of the stories he has heard where not the best. He preferred not to be eaten alive and he knew that it was very possible that that could happen. However he also believe that they wouldn't be allowed out into the forest if the school thought that the 2 professors couldn't protect the students. 

He walked towards the forest as he could feel that the adventure was soon to start. "You excited for this? If I am truthful I am a bit scared. All the unknown is a bit terrifying really," He said to his partner.

When everyone headed into the forest he made sure Phaedra and he where somewhere in the middle of the swarm of students.

ACTION: Walk into the forest with Phaedra

It was really a dumb move on her part. Somehow she had mislead herself into thinking the group for the adventure into the Forbidden Forest was meeting in the Slytherin Common room, and so she was simply waiting in her dormitory before waltzing nonchalantly into the Common Room come time for the meet, only to be greeted with a nearly deserted den. Suddenly panicking, Syrah realized she was wrong in assuming the group would meet here. Why would the Slytherin's meet here, and the Ravenclaw's meet in their Common Room only to meet up again with each other somewhere else? She shook her head violently at herself, feeling her face flush red in embarrassment. There was one, older looking boy in the Common Room, reading a book. His face though seemed to be staring through it, it didn't look like he was paying much attention to the material. 

"Hey!" She called to him, ignoring his obvious outranking of her, "Do you know where the group met up for the Forbidden Forest exploration?" As she yelled at him, his head snapped up and he stared at her with a blank expression for a second, before obviously rolling his eyes at the First Year. 

"Yeah. They meet at the edge of the Forest." He said quickly, before promptly ignoring her again and returning to his book. In any other situation she might feel a bit embarrassed at his dismissive answer, but right now she was too panicked to care about it. 

Without thanking him, she rushed out of the Common Room, running to the first floor of the castle and out the big front doors. As she sprinted down through the Grounds, she could see a large group of students gathered at the start of the forest. She cursed in her head before picking up the speed. As she got a bit closer she saw another student running towards to group. She sighed in a bit of relief, she wasn't the only late one, but she was still slightly more late than this kid. His robes had tinges of green, he was from Slytherin too. 

As she approached the group she looked around. Everyone seemed to be in pairs and she noticed Professor Sheinberg scanning the crowd with a somewhat displeased look on her face. She cursed again trying to see if anyone was without a partner. Then she remembered the late boy. Quickly, she found him and ran up to him. "Hey, I think we're supposed to have partners. I was late too, want to partner up?" She asked, looking at him, pleadingly. As she waited for his answer the group started to move collectively towards the forest. She had made it just in time.

The air was cold and biting and Syrah thanked herself silently for wearing her full uniform, pointed hat and cloak included. She also carried a pack full of water and some snacks. Her wand, she held firmly in her hand, before putting it in a slip in her robes for easy carrying. And just because, she also carried her Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them textbook in her pack as well, just in case she wanted, and had the time, to look something up.

ACTION: Ask to pair up with Flyte Blaze without being noticed as late by the Professors.

As he stood in place contemplating about having "partners." He felt sudden movements peer through his right eye, squirmish motions he may add as he notices that his Head of House approach him in an aggressive manner that almost appeared as if she was heavily crushing the soil beneath her feet with every impression made. Rotating his attention to the right, in the direction of the oncoming professor, Bellamy notices that his Head of House is caging someone between her forceful arms. He quickly assumes that this individual will likely be his "partner" as he clearly hasn't decided on one yet. Glancing much more closely he notes that the individual is a boy, Slytherin in fact as the prominent colors of green reveal themselves easily to the eye. Bellamy would've thought less of it if the student was just a Ravenclaw although this was a Slytherin boy, a house known for its uptight jerks or supremacists who felt that they were the entitled ones that thought they should be praised for who they were. This type of attitude agitated Bellamy extremely as he experienced every now and then, the dire urge to sock every snobbish kid regardless of gender in their face. Bellamy was built around the fact that no title, blood, or heritage should determine a person's quality or worth but the actions one makes to make themselves noticeable. This philosophy was heavily taught by his father's side and so this was also instilled upon him as well. When both of them finally approach, they briefly exchanged names while the professor returned to the other Head of House. Quickly finishing introductions the boy named Dmitri makes a curt remark.

"You. I do not know who you are, and I don't think I really want to know that much. So, seeing as we're forced together, I would appreciate it if you take my request."

This insolent boy was definitely fitting the familiar profile of a Slytherin. At the moment, Bellamy makes a swift subconscious thought, "Hmh, knew it." Completing the pairing of partners Dmitri impermanently rotates his back towards him and just wanders off behind the Head of Slytherin. Casually moving, Bellamy follows behind them keenly surveying the area in the process as they enter the dreadful forest. This forest excited the adolescent boy as he now was going to "test his metal" against the most dangerous forest at Hogwarts. He dreamt of doing something so dangerous as this or even beyond this, to demonstrate his worth to his father, just to spite him. Admittedly the boy was a little afraid of what may happen on this trip but he assured himself a number of times that the professors had their guard up constantly, After all the DADA teacher was accompanying them; that was really reassuring. Furthermore, he had his DADA book on hand though it be impractical to read it during a high stress situation, he'd briefly read sections of it while they walked, given the time to do so. He was mostly confident in the circumstances he had, however, that didn't mean he was calm about it. Bellmay was also planning ideas of action if his faithful reassurances failed on him for instance, his wand was still literally in his hand. He had never put it in his pockets when this trip started. It was always on hand for him. He tried making it appear as causal as possible when he held his wand; his attempt slightly worked when he did it. All in all the look he got from Dmitri of when they left infected on to him a bit as both of their senses were at its most alert that it could be. This bleak and unwelcoming environment would really determine how well prepared Bellamy actually was. 

MARCUS rolled a 23, finding something useful along the way into the forest that might give him a hint as to what was to come. A skittering sound was heard across the forest floor in the distance - one that only sharp ears could pick up. While looking in the correct direction, he saw a flash of a black spindly creature, but not quite enough of it to be able to make out what it was. REMEMBER. JUST BECAUSE MARCUS SAW THIS DOESN’T MEAN YOUR CHARACTER DID.

ALEXANDER rolled a 20 on his perception check, finding something useful along the way into the forest that might give him a hint as to what was to come. With the aid of Marcus’s lumos charm, Alexander caught sight of the black creature as well, but again he didn’t see enough of it to know what this creature could be, exactly. REMEMBER. JUST BECAUSE ALEXANDER SAW THIS DOESN’T MEAN YOUR CHARACTER DID.

JASON rolled a 12, and found a very odd-looking twig on the ground while he was searching for objects. This wasn’t just any ordinary twig though, it was a leg of a giant spider.. And it definitely wasn’t from the acromantulas in the forest.. REMEMBER. JUST BECAUSE JASON SAW THIS DOESN’T MEAN YOUR CHARACTER DID.

LUCIEN rolled a 13, and while he was looking around his fellow group of students, he happened to pick up on a very questionable trail of scattered fabric. But what could that mean? REMEMBER. JUST BECAUSE LUCIEN SAW THIS DOESN’T MEAN YOUR CHARACTER DID.

MIA rolled a 23, and while she was looking around her fellow group of students, she too discovered the fabric trail like Lucien had. These scraps were scattered at random, and disappeared further into the forest. Definitely eerie. REMEMBER. JUST BECAUSE MIA SAW THIS DOESN’T MEAN YOUR CHARACTER DID.

Time went on, and as the sun rose up higher in the sky, the group of blue and green delved deeper into the canopy of the Forbidden Forest. They were long past the charred campsite of the Hufflepuffs, and were on their way to more.. Interesting things. Leonie herself wasn’t quite too sure what to expect, but she did know that she planned on one thing - teaching the students something that they didn’t know yet, something that could help them out in their own adventures through the forest.

The thicker that the brush got, the darker that the air around them seemed. They came to a clearing, and once she reached the other side, she turned to face the students and transfiguration professor. She clasped her hands in front of her, and waited for everyone to come to a halt. The heels of her boots threatened to sink into the dirt floor of the forest, so she was forced to lean further up on her toes, crunching the leaves beneath her that had fallen the previous autumn, and had yet to move.

“Pay attention! Stop your chattering,” Leonie directed, her tone sharp and her German accent thick. She sounded like she hadn’t been out of the country more than three months, but she’s spent majority of her adult years in London, with the Ministry of Magic. The slight irritation at the students’ constant talking mellowed once they had quieted. “In the Forbidden Forest, there are countless numbers of threats. Red-caps, trolls, hags, and most importantly - acromantulas. Why are these the most important creatures?” She asked rhetorically, moving her hands behind her back as she paced in front of the class.

“Because today, you are going to learn how to counter them. Arania Exumai is a spell that will blast back an acromantula, and other large spiders. Usually, you would learn this in second year, but today you will have an advantage on both the Hufflepuffs, and the Gryffindors, because you will know this spell first.” She actually smiled for once, pulling out her sleek wand, looking to Sergei, “Would you mind conjuring a spider for a demonstration?” She asked, twirling her wand in her hand.

When he had summoned a spider, it hadn’t taken her long to react - maybe about a millisecond. She was quick thanks to the years of practice, training herself to be the best. It wasn’t unexpected. She pointed her wand at the creature, “Arania Exumai!” She called out, and the creature was sent far back. It scrambled up on to it’s legs, then ran off in the opposite direction, probably making communication with their kind that inhabit the forest. Leonie lowered her wand and looked to the students, “Any questions?”

One student asked her for help with the wand movement, in which she did a slow-motion demonstration for them to follow. It was a simple flick of the wand, really. It was a wonder how some people were not able to get it. Another student needed help with the pronunciation, which took a good five minutes of just repeating the incantation over and over again. It was a good thing that they had until supper, because it might take them a while to finish this expedition. Somehow, she didn’t take into account that these were first years, and they would most likely always have more than one question.

“Now, Professor Yornikovych will make more spiders, and you try the spell. We’ll be here in case something goes wrong.” She instructed. She didn’t take into account that some people may be particularly fearful of spiders, or that they may turn hostile, but that was nothing that Leonie or Sergei couldn’t take care of - or at least she hoped.

Midas Jones's Observance Roll, Accuracy Check: 21 (Pass)

Daylight was on their side and it seemed that it was on Midas' side as he'd catch sight of something shiny in the forest. If he was observant enough, he'd notice they were a pair of large ones that seemed to be the size of a small teacup saucer. What were they? Could they just have been a trick of the eye or something more? Either way, he wouldn't be able to see it the next time he blinked for it disappeared soon after.

As the path winded on, he made an abrupt stop as Leonie addressed the other students with quite a sharp tongue. He was here for two reasons, to bring the Ravenclaws to something they might have not experienced and to be the one to conjure. After all, he was the Transfiguration professor and he seemed to be the one with the most experience in conjuration. The students did not know yet, but snakes and birds were seemingly the two species of animals most easiest to conjure or summon using magic.

He himself had never made note of this yet, but it took quite some work to get this spell to work since it had been dealing with spiders. Sergei made space between him, the students, and Leonie since the conjuration would be quick and he didn't want it to attack any of the others. Something the students might learn in the future is that summoning something needed force and command, lest it not heed the caster at all. Like a pistol from his side, he drew his wand and bellowed, "Araneasortia!" A flash and a spider stumbled into the fray, seemingly disoriented as it got in the way of Leonie's fire.

Once it was banished, the thing began scuttling off much to his annoyance. It was a conjuration and it wouldn't last long, but Sergei was not the type to bring something into this world without bringing it back out. With a step forward, he aimed his wand at the retreating creature as Leonie talked. "Aranea evanesca." A small bolt shot from the tip of his wand and hit the conjuration, immediately causing it to disintegrate in a matter of seconds with a sharp shriek. Perhaps this trip wouldn't be for the faint of heart, but he always liked to instill some of that into students while they were easily molded.

Sergei turned around just as he was mentioned, turning around slowly as he stepped back and gave room once more. "Araneasortia!" Another spider, a little larger this time stumbled onto the leafy floor with a hiss. Before it had the chance, Sergei did a non-verbal cast of levicorpus to suspend the spider upside down. It hissed and shriek as he began to speak to Leonie and the students. "Start slow, I doubt they will be able to take more than three spiders for now. Some might not even cast at all, but I'd encourage the Slytherins to go first."

They would all need to step up and away from the group, he wanted enough distance between the spiders he would cast and the students themselves. Once that was done, he'd drop the one he had conjured and waved his wand to non-verbally conjure two more. Now there were three spiders and if the students weren't quick, they'd quickly realize how fast six legs can take you.

RUNDOWN:
- Midas Jones has seen something in the forest, it is up to his interpretation.
- Slytherin is encouraged to step up, if they choose to.
- IF OR WHEN, the Slytherin students step away from the group to face the spiders, Sergei will have conjured two more spiders in addition to the one he already conjured.
- Ravenclaw is just observing for now.

"Perfect!" Lettie grinned at the girl she had asked to partner up with her. She was in Slytherin with her, but for some reason Lettie hadn't formally introduced herself to her yet. "My name is Colette Lancaster, by the way, but I would really love it if you would just call me Lettie," she offered her hand to the girl politely. "What was your name?"

They continued to walk for a bit before Professor Scheinberg began talking once more. Wait, did she just say acromantulas? Surely she couldn't mean those things that were basically gigantic tarantulas, right?! The only thing Lettie hated more than spiders were really big spiders, so she was less than thrilled to learn that they would be encountering some very shortly.

Lettie stiffened as the male professor conjured up one of the things, wishing hard that she had the ability apparate so that she could place herself on an entirely different continent from it. Thankfully, Professor Scheinberg was more than on top of it and eliminated it almost as quickly as it had appeared. Lettie took a moment to look at her in admiration; that woman was becoming more and more her hero by the second.

However distasteful she found spiders to be, Lettie loved learning new spells. The idea of getting to perform a new bit of magic began to take over her mind and the idea of overgrown arachnids grew less scary and more exciting. She imagined how satisfying it would be to have her spells hit the little devils and watch them fly backwards helplessly. She couldn't help but chuckle a bit at the thought.

Lettie readied her wand and followed the careful motions that Professor Scheinberg had shown them. "Arania Exumai," she mimicked the pronunciation to the best of her ability. "Arania Exumai," she said once more, feeling a bit more confident. She shot a quick glance at her partner and asked, "Does this look all right?" Really, she was just being polite, though, because she was pretty confident that she looked fantastic. "I'm normally pretty decent with spells, but when spiders are involved, you just want to take that extra bit of caution, you know?"

Feeling ready, Lettie aimed her spell at one of the practice spiders and enunciated the incantation as clearly as she could. "Arania Exumai!" She sure hoped that the spell would hit.

Action: Cast "Arania Exumai!" at one of the conjured spiders.

As Jake was walking he didn't notice much at all only trees that seemed a little darker that normal. He stood next to his partner Bloom which they were forced to be partners by the Head of House of Slytherin. He looked around to see if any arachnids were there or something. He walked a bit faster he didn't know why but he was anxious and worried but he was ready for a battle he had been training some spells for the trip.

He had his wand in his hand ready to fire at anything that came to the group. He looked forward at both the professors they looked really calm and exited to be out in the scary woods which was a little creepy he supposed. All of a sudden he heard Sergei yell "Araneasortia!" he looked to see a spider disappear. He had to admit that was amazing but all of a sudden it felt like it was a bad idea to shoot a spider. A lot of spiders were now coming towards them he was ready to kick some some butt. He looked at his fellow mate taking out her wand and Sergei at her side. 

He ran towards them and stood next to them "I'm ready to kick spider mans friends booty's"!!!. He yelled this like it was the Apocalypse and he was with his friends battling off hardcore zombies. He pointed at one of the spiders coming there way he concentrated on the two spells he had learned one came to his mind at the speed of lightning, "Alarte Ascendare! he hoped he had sent that spider to outer space.

ACTION: Cast "Alarte Ascendare" at one the conjured spiders.

Mia walked up, looking back to locate her partner. She faced forward and then nodded to Sergei, who conjured two more spiders. Mia shivered.

They were so...creepy, twitching and hairy, with eyes that communicated nothing. The forest seemed to bend away from them, and Mia took a deep breath steadying herself. She stuck out her wand and stepped forward, trying to assure herself. Everything will be fine Mia. Relax.

"Arania Exumai!"

Mia flicked her wand just right, and pronounced the incantation hopefully correctly. Mia smiled. the spider shot back. Mia readied herself again and stuck her wand out. She smiled and shouted the incantation.

"Arania Exumai!"

The spider shot back and Mia laughed. She was succeeding at something. Finally. Mia walked back to her partner with a satisfied smirk on her face.

Suddenly, Mia thought back to when she was first walking into the forest. She had noticed something..strange. Scraps of fabric scattered across the forest floor, in a small trail. She didn't know where the trail led, but felt unsettled. She didn't realize it when she saw it, but now that she was thinking back, she was worried for her safety. Plus, didn't something happen at the Hufflepuff Campout?

Action: Cast "Arania Exumai!" at two of the conjured spiders.
