Henry his eyes rest on Alexis, not expecting her to agree for both of them to uproot the mandrake from it's pot. It is a simple task that only one needs to do and yet two will be doing the task.
Henry felt the touch of Alexis's skin aginest his as he held onto the plant. The sudden phycial contact urge Henry to jump away but he didn't, he stood there. Not moving. A part of him relax at their hands touching. A odd sensation yet a welcoming one.
Henry found Alexis's gaze. Icy blue, reflective eyes of the girl. Henry felt a warmth flow through and a sense of relaxation among his thundering anxiety. A breath. The teen held the greenage tightly as a few moments pass. Blue staring at blue. Henry pulled along with the fellow third year then the silence broken with a pricing scream.
Even through the earmuffs, the scream of the mandrake could be heard. Similar to the sound of a bady wailing through a megaphone but the appearance was anything but cute. A wrinkled yet wiggling roots that resembled a bady or part of one... Henry kept his hand away from the small opening where it's mouth sat. Knowing from his books how hard and exactly how much damage the plant can cause.
Carefully laying down the mandrake on the table, the scream still circling the room. Cutting through each conversation, each corner, each shadow of the classroom. Henry wished they didn't have to do this part as he strained his ears to hear Alexis through the earmuffs and screaming.
Nodding, a light smile on his face as he spoke"they really don't," gaze on the girl before quickly darting to the wiggling and bleaching mandrake as he continued, "who should cut the roots while the other holds then?"

Awaiting his reply, Alexis quickly looked over to other students for a moment. She found the various states of her classmates sort of entertaining, some students were completely frozen on their spots with an alarmed look on their faces but some students were entirely calm and unbothered. It’s interesting how different the scream has effected different people.
The girl turned back to study her new acquaintance once more, she silently noted that the boy doesn’t seem to have much reaction to the scream. His gaze met hers steadily as he spoke before he quickly looked away, she felt a bit disappointed without knowing why.
As the sound started to cease and her senses started to come back to her, the girl’s gaze flickered back to the calming mandrake on the table in front of her when she realised she might be staring for too long, her mind slowly registered the boy’s question. It took her a couple seconds to answer, “Actually, I can do both. It shouldn’t take long for it to go still, right?”
After a small paused, she continued, “I just think it might be more difficult if two people do it, you know?” The young witch reached forwards to pull the dormant mandrake closer to herself along with the knife, preparing to slice the troublesome herb.
Afraid the silence would make the air around them awkward, the girl started to speak, “So, Henry, how come we’ve never met before?”

The teen kept his gaze and grip on the mandrake, his mind was longing to gaze back at Alexis. To allow himself to become lost in her icy, reflective gaze. To listen to her soothing voice. To smile wider at her smile.
The teen shook his mind, clearing himself of the previous thoughts. Unsure where they came from and why they lingered. Wanting to rid himself of them, to flee this awkward situation faster the teen teen felt his gaze flicker from the plant toward the ravenclaw girl. Listening to her words. Her words that he felt his mind fell, his face showed no emotion or reaction except a soft smile but his mind felt it. A bit sadden that she chose to do it without him- alone.
Forcing himself to nod, Henry nodded passing the knife toward the girl as he took a half of step back. Eyes flickering from the plant to the girl. Wishing he could helo but yet knowing that she didn't need help, didn't need him. The teen felt his gaze flicker over his now empty desk, he didn't see why he should remain there. Letting silence and awkwardness fill the air. Gaze darting back to the girl and her words, words of reason.
"uh yeah, definitely," Henry replied nodding toward the girl knowing well thay it would probably be best for him to go bsck to the desk. To collect the other ingredients. To stay out of the way of the ravenclaw girl, to not bother her or allow for her to fail because of him.
Eyes flickering toward the desk once more before back to the girl as he opened his mouth, avout to suggest to leave when he heard Alexis's voice. Shutting his mouth instantly. The teen thought for a moment, unsure about that himself as he spoke"uh- I'm a quiet person, I mainly stay in the library or with a few friends," it was strange how many people Henry knew but how little friends he technically did have. The teen felt himself look at Alexis, wonderinf the same thing.
"How come I never met you?"

Alexis blinked twice as she accepted the knife and mentally scolded herself when she saw him took a step back in the corner of her eyes, starting to regret her decision already. The girl held a knife with one hand and the dormant mandrake with another, positioning the knife at its root and begins to slice. She bit he tongue as she felt the silence she dreaded slowly washed over them.
Relief flooded over her when he decided to answer her question instead of leaving. Alexis listened carefully, strangely eager to know more about the boy she only just met. Her eyebrows furrowed subconsciously as she considered his reply, the girl herself stayed at the library a lot too, but somehow she has never seen him before. It was just a silly thought, Hogwarts’ library was not a small place, it was full of seemingly endless bookshelves, it wasn’t a surprise she haven’t seen everyone who go in and out.
The girl stopped her movement, startled at the question directed at her, she briefly wondered if he was surprised by her question as well. “Well, if I’m not with the few friends that I have, I guess normally just stay with my brothers…” She paused to word her answer once again.
“Oh! I spend a lot of time in the library too! Guess we aren’t too different, yeah?” Alexis answered, glad to know that they have something in common. She felt all tension leaving her body, pleased that her attempt at a small talk seems to be going well, a mischievous glint appeared in her eyes and with a teasing smile, she said, “It’s a shame we haven’t seen each other there before though, should we change that?”

Henry watched the girl cut the roots off the ugly looking plant, it was strange. Strange how one could feel so awkward yet so relaxed at the same time. A part of Henry wanted to retreat, to run and hide away while another part wished to remain there. Standing shoulder to shoulder with Alexis Asterion.
Henry found it a little humorous how they both were third years and yet haven't met each other till that day, he was a lad of bookd and science. Never really believing in faith or 'paths' but yet this day felt to perfect, almost like they were suppose to meet. Like it was written for them to.
The teen felt himself take a step closer to the table, carefully watching as she cut deciding to offer help. The teen waited for the girl to cut a bit then would quickly pick uo the cut pieces and place them in a small bowl. Doing the act repeatedly when he sees fit to help her stay organized and clean.
The conversation was light and small. Listening to her voice, Henry found himself interested. She has brothers? A common interest since he has one as well, the teen offer a soft smile as he spoke"do you have brother's? I have a older one," as times passed he felt more comfortable. More willing to speak, it felt easier to be with the girl. A sensation filled him, occasionally it felt like he knew Alexis for longer than only a few mere minutes.
"You do? What do you like to read," Henry asked with a growing soft smile. The lad always enjoys finding fellow avid book lovers or readers, the teen has little in his friend group so a chance to add another is an opportunity he can't pass up.
Henry heard her next words, blue gaze flickering on her teasing smile and mischievous gint. His own eyes shined with a tad of mischief as he gently bumped her shoulder with his as he spoke"I would like that," his gaze flickering bsck toward the mandrake snd cut up roots before he remembered a thought. Bringing his eyes ti meet Alexis or at least glance up at her, Henry spoke"how about we meet in the library tomorrow after classes? We can do that history of magic essays together."

Alexis spoke as her hands continued to slice the root, her eyes twinkled as she beamed at Henry when she noticed the boy reached his hands out to help her. She felt as if the two of them were sharing a private little bubble that nobody would dared to interrupt, noises echoing in the classroom seems to faded into the background as she focused her full attention at the boy. The moment was peaceful and she quietly wished that it could go on forever.
Her ears perked up at his mention of his own brother. It seemed as if the more they talked, the more she found what they have in common.“I have two actually, they’re twins.” The girl smiled, talking about her family always lifts her mood up. She continued, “I used to be so jealous they get to do everything together.” Her smile grew wider as she thinks all the time she had asked her parents why they didn’t give her a twin.
“Yeah, I love books.” Alexis recalled the comfort of the cozy library she loves. “I like all kind of books, you know? Magical creatures are fun but my favourite must be fiction. Especially muggle’s fiction, they’re so imaginative.” The girl grinned, “What about you?”
The raven haired girl giggled when she felt the boy playfully bumped his shoulder against hers. It amazed her how they both feel so comfortable around one another despite not knowing each other before today. Alexis went quiet for a second as she finished her task at hand, trying to remember the essays the boy mentioned. “Oh! Those essays! I would love to.” The girl put the knife down and said after she recalled the assignments she’d been delaying. “I’ve been putting them back for awhile now. I almost forgotten them.”

Alexis cut, Henry collected. The two worked so perfectly together, almost in sync with one another. His gaze bouncing between the roots and the girl, a smile on his lips as the sounds and scents around then faded away. For a moment it was just the two of them. For a moment it was the two of them and Henry wished that it could have lasted longer.
Continuing the task with light conversation, Henry listened. She has twin older brothers, the thought sounded amusing to him since he has a older brother and twin sister yet a part of him kept from saying thr second half. He loves his twin sister but with her disappearance, he felt sadden and anxious whenever she is brought up. Choosing not to say anything for now, later he will tell the girl. He will.
"Twin brothers? I can see how you were jealous, how old are they?"
Henry asked as he collected the rest of the roots then brought his gaze to her icy blue ones. Henry smiled, gazing into Alexis's eyes gave the sensation of calmness as he spoke"my brother is 20 and an auror- uh," a strange pause before he continued, "I have five step siblings, my father remarried last summer," the teen didn't mind relling the girl the fact. He felt as if he could trust her.
As books became the topic, Henry smiled and left his haze on Alexis. Listening and nodding to her words, he wished they could have stay cutting the root for longer as he replied"I love books on magical creatures to, I think history books are my favorite but muggle fiction is wicked. Their really good to- uh what's your favorite," Henry was tempted to say more but a part of him didn't want the girl to get the wrong expression so he stayed silent.
Back to cutting, even if the work didn't feel much like work. Henry smiled toward Alexis as he collected the rest of the roots into the bowl then held it in his hands, eyes gazing on the girl as he listened and nodded toward her reponse to doing their essays together.
"Tomorrow during lunch then, it could be a lunch date- uh lunch study session," Henry spokr finding the same awkwardness that he found wity Alexa Mackenzie with Alexis at the mention of a date. Strange it is.

With the absence of a knife in her hand, Alexis, distractedly, played with the sleeves of her robe as she watched him gathering up the freshly sliced mandrake roots. A small smile appeared on her face as she thought about how they worked together in a perfect synchronisation, almost as if they had done this before.
“How can I not be right? They’re practically glued together.” She faked a pout before giggling at her own silliness. “My brother are fifteen. Slytherins, who knows, maybe you've seen them.” Her gaze met the boyʼs, she smiled. Although they like to keep to themselves, her brothers were much more outgoing that she was. It wouldn't be a surprise to her if Henry have met them before.
Her blue eyes widen at his words, he said his brother was an auror. What a coincidence, her father was an auror too. It almost funny how much they have in common. The girl was about to tell him that but she held her tongue at his next revelation, warm feeling filled her chest at how much he seems to trust her. “Five? Your house must be lively.” Carefully, she waited for his response before saying anything else on the subject.
“I think history books are fun too.” The girl paused to consider her answer. “My favourite? There's this series called Stalking Jack The Ripper that I can't get enough of...” Her smile widen as she jested, “But if I wanted to be more sophisticated, I'd say The Picture of Dorian Gray. What about yours?” Alexis waited for his reply, eager to learn more about the boyʼs interests or anything in general.
Alexis felt her cheeks redden at his slip of tongue, her eyes shifted away from his before coming back. The word 'date' strangely flustered her more than she thought it would be. Quickly, the girl nodded, “Tomorrow lunch is good.”

Holding the small bowl im his hands, Henry rocked back and fourth on the balls of his heels for a moment before stopping not wanting Alexis's to think of him one way or another. His gaze remained steadily on her, it was strange how they only just met and Henry cared this much about what she thought of him. He hoped she saw him a good light and wasn't going to spread rumours or judge him later.
The teen listened to the girl, nodding to her words not really minding that they now stood at the front of the classroom doing nothing more than talking. Henry smiled at the girl's playfulness, looking down for a moment to compose himself before back at the girl as he listened. Not daring to interrupt her. At the right moment, Henry spoke"so their the slytherin's, what's their names?" The teen smiled at the girl, remembering how in his firsy year he longed to be in the house of intelligence.
Wishing that the sortinf hat placed him there instead, he had gotton over thay phase in life but suddenly got the same feeling. The same temptation- longing as three years prior.
"I guess, I perfer quiet myself," Henry replied never kneoing not to react or response to revealinghis step family. The teen hadn't grown that use to him and has only bond with two of his step siblings so far. The others and his step mum still in mix feelings and emotions for the third year.
With the discussion of books, Henry cast Alexis a smile as he listened. Nodding to the fact that they both enjoyed history books, another item that the two had in common. Henry listened to her two favorite books, one he read and the other he hadn't but was curious by the title to perhaps read it. Henry thought for a moment on the question as he spoke"the picture is a good book, I like it to but I haven't heard of the stalking jack the ripper but I'm curious now to read it," another moment past. The teen dwelled over his choices and books before he spoke"my favorite books are either Oliver Twist or a tale of two cities," the teen enjoyed the places and characters each. Usually finding one or two to relate to himself. The teen took anotjer momenr before adding, "it's childish but I also like beauty and the beast," a tale one two different individuals. One searching for themselves and the other for a life or adventure. Henry usually compares himself to the beast fkr reasons....
The teen looked away, feelimg his throat close a little and the back of his neck sweat a tad. The hairs on his arms stood on ends when Alexis's voice hit his ears. Forcing himsekf to nod, Henry looked back toward the girl as he spoke"okay, good- uh great. Lunch tomorrow then." Nodd8ng for a yad longer than normal, Henry stoppwd himself and looked toward Alexis as he spoke"I can do the mandrakes and cauldron if you want to gather the rest of the ingredients?" Henry wlaked back a few steps figuring it best for them to separate even if they worked so well as a team

Leaning back against the table she just finished slicing the mandrake root, her blue gaze focused on the boy in front of her as the words flowed easily from her lips, their surroundings seems to disappear and their conversation went on. “Their names? Arthur and Anthony.” The girl added, “Apparently, our parents love the letter ‘A’.”
The conversation circled back to Henryʼs family, the girl kept quiet at the boyʼs reply. She wasn't sure what she should say, deciding not to push anything, the girl just nodded. Her intuition told her that it might not be a good topic to discuss in their first meeting.
Alexis nodded as she listened to his words She found herself immersed in the moment, two people who accidentally met, now of all time, discovering their common interests. A small grin appeared on her face when he said he was curious, “Maybe if you're into that. It's a mystery-romance novel.” Her gaze stayed on the boy as he dwelled in his thought before he answered her earlier questions. “You like the classics?” She instantly recognised the titles but unfortunately, she hasn't read any of them. “I haven't read them, maybe I'll try?” She said as she began to draw up a plan to do so in her head. It's always a good idea to pick up new things after all.
Her eyebrows furrowed as she listened before she said, “I don't think it's childish. Beauty and the Beast is a beautiful story.” The story was indeed beautiful, the girl felt like the story had portrayed their love as something so pure and she remembered wishing for a love like that once she grow up. A silly little dream for a five years old girl. Alexis gave the boy a soft smile as she looked directly into his eyes, she found herself dangerously close to being lost in them.
Keeping her face neutral to mask her unexpected disappointment, the girl nodded. “Sure. Good idea.” The girl flashed him a smile as she turned to look at where the rest of ingredients were located. She spotted the octopus tentacles in jars full of clear liquid on a table nearby. “I'll get the tentacles first then the rest.” The girl turned back to her partner, “We have to let it simmer for a while anyway.”
