Another Simon?

Clair looked at him, "Wait wait wait! Your Dad did not like you doing it? So you gave it up?" She stopped, maybe there was something in his life that made him behave.
"do people need to take you seriously? I'm taken very seriously, and I'm not all mature every second. The trick is, you balance it all out, for every immature thing you do do a mature thing or two." She passed to let her words sink in "maybe some are like that, but again, earn their respect, if respect is given to you without working for it, then you won't understand it, you must work for it, and then you will work hard not to lose it or not enjoy the respect you have"
As they walked Clair started to think about all the things she had gone through, moving to Europe as a toddler, losing her father at eight, losing her muggle friends at 11-12, yet here she was, alive, happy respected, she had worked to get that respect, and now she had it, and she enjoyed it.
"to drop off this basket, at my Sister's common room, well outside of it." She looked at him, "I can take them, if you want"

"Yeah," Simo answered. "But it wasn't just him." Simon was getting into personal territory, but he felt like he could trust Clair with this info. She wasn't the type to tell everyone. "It was all the adults. They wanted me to be perfect and stuff, and it was the worst. Do you know how jealous kids get about 'perfect' students? I wanted to make him proud, i still do, even though he's..." He broke off and took a deep breath, feeling like he had some weight lifted off of his shoulders. He also felt guilty. "Um, sorry. If you didn't want to hear any of that."
"Thanks for the advice, Clair. You're really helpful." he said, even though he knew a lot about earning other's respect. He had to work harder than he needed to so he could earn their respect- which required letting go of childish acts. It was stressful.
When Clair offered to hold the books, Simon smiled at her. "You can take some of them back, but your arms will get sore if you take them all." He handed her some of her books back. "You know, you're pretty cool, we should hang out more. When do you have free time?"

Clair stiffened "And you just went along with it? You just formed into what they wanted? Are you clay? Do you mold to whatever they want? You just from to fit their latest want? I should hope you at least think your own thoughts, i should hope you at least do what you want, let them be them and you be you." She paused, looked Simon right in the eyes "I hope you think for yourself."
She meant these words with all he heart, she did not want to have him be a follower, at least not one who does not think of what their doing.
She stopped "Wait, is he....? I lost mine when I was eight, tough times, I don't think I could loose another person, ever." Maybe this was true, maybe she felt like she would be rubbish without another person, but she would not die, if that person died, she would just be really really hurt.
She smirked, "Sore? I lift hay bales all the time, lead cattle, carry Kids" (goat kids) "A few books won't hurt" she shrugged, "C'mon band 'em over!" She put her arm out, "And you can take this, if you still want to stick around, my evil self!" She joked

Simon snorted. "Thanks for the pep talk, but you clearly don't understand." He didn't continue further, he was already sick of this conversation. He hated telling others about stuff like this, they didn't understand. He couldn't just decide to stop. He had built this up for so long and that was what they expected of him now. He couldn't go rouge because Clair told him to.
Simon glanced at the floor. "I also lost mine at eight. It was a wand accident. Someone else caused it because of their broken wand. He died on impact, so at least he didn't suffer..." His chin wobbled. No, NO. Do NOT cry. You've been a giant crybaby for the past month. What had gotten into you!? He cleared his throat loudly. "Ahem, sorry. Lost my head there." Simon said in a low voice. He sounded ridiculous, and he smiled a bit. "I am growing so old. Tomorrow i'll be seven feet tall and lugging a suitcase."
Simon grinned. "Okay, cowgirl. Do you carry them on your shoulders or by the arms?" He imagined Clair carrying them on her shoulders like he'd seen on fitness ads. He imagined himself doing the same thing and dislocating his shoulder, and Simon cringed. "I prefer arms." he said, shaking away the disgusting shoulder dislocating thought. Ewww. Why did his mind think that stuff??? He handed her some more books but not his whole stack.

Clair smiled kindly, "we all lose our heads, at one point in time."
Clair snorted, "Seven feet tall? Lugging a suitcase? Why do you need to be seven feet tall to lug something?" She shrugged, this boy was sort of weird, in a ways.
She looked at him with a horrified look, "why would I do that? Just because I'm strong does not mean I'm dumb, that could hurt me or the thing I'm lifting, or pulling, I love my body the way it is, not broken in half just because i want to show off." She said bluntly, "So i guess Arms then."
She took the books from him and started to walk, "I think I should get going, classes are soon and I need to get ready still, Good bye Shall we meet again some time? In a less weird way?"
She nodded her head in a way to say bye, and then she started to quicken her pace, she was not one to be late, and she still had a ways to go before she got to the Snakes' common room door, and then she had to race back to her dorm and get her school stuff all ready.

Simon smiled. "You don't need to be seven feet tall. You can be any size." He thought of how tall his dad had seemed when he was younger. "But i mean, it makes them look older the taller they are." Simon didn't know why he was talking about this. What an odd thing to talk about. "Y'know what? Never mind. I just wanna be tall, i confess." He sighed dramatically.
Simon laughed at her look. "I hope so, i wouldn't want you to lose an arm. That would be sad. And i'm not sure why you would break in half because of hay. Ouch." Simon imagined what she'd described, and he cringed. What a disgusting way to die, not to mention painful.
Simon nodded and let Clair take his books gratefully. His arms hurt a lot now and he'd probably need a sling if he carried them anymore. "I would love that. Bye Clair! Good luck with your note sending. I'll see you around!" And with that, Simon raced to his common room, hoping that he'd have some spare ink and new robes there.
Simon left the thread.
