Little Accident Closed

[quote] Faye was never using a bunk bed again. She had been told by another girl in Ravenclaw to go to the Hospital Wing, however she didn’t know where that was. She had stumbled painfully through the corridors until she found it, walking in looking like a deer in headlights.

There was another girl her age there, with dark black hair. It reminded her of her mam’s hair, back before she cut it short. She looked good with it both long and short. Even though she’d met her fair share of people now, she still had trouble first introducing herself.

The girl was named Victoria, and she was hurt as well. Victoria was nice, smiling at her.
“Yes, hello! I’m hurt as well. That’s why I’m here, like you said. Didn’t know where this was so I had to go everywhere. And I mean everywhere. Why do the stairs move? I’m no expert but that’s definitely dangerous.” Faye giggled, trying desperately to make friends despite her awkwardness.

She gave a loud, snorty laugh, not stopping even though it sounded silly. “Fell down the stairs? Just like I said, dangerous. Oh, no, I fell off my bunk bed. Never used one of them before so…” She paused “Yeah.”

Victoria smiled at the girl introducing herself as Faye. "Faye? Does that name mean anything?" Victoria asked, raising an eyebrow as she had never heard of that name before.

Victoria didn't laugh when she heard the girl fall off the bunk. She didn't like to laugh at people's pain. "Oh, did you break something? Or is it bleeding?" Victoria asked worriedly.

Victoria continued. "Falling down the stairs, I don't recommend trying, but you laugh at yourself after you fall." Victoria chuckled. She then showed the bandage on her head. "You see, I don't need to tell you." Victoria chuckled again.

Victoria looked at the girl. "Hmm, what building are you in? I'm in Ravenclaw." said Victoria proudly. She didn't know which building she was in, as he hadn't seen the girl before.

Victoria gave the girl a big smile. "Are you Muggle-born, or have you watched muggle movies?" Victoria asked excitedly. Maybe She could make a few movie suggestions. "Are you interested in sports, I'm a broom racer." Victoria smiled proudly again.

Victoria put her head back on the pillow. "How long do you think we'll stay here. I'm bored already." Victoria sighed deeply. She closed her eyes and tried to ignore the pain in her head.

"No? Well, I don't know. It sounds pretty so it could be something mythical. Does Victoria mean anything? The Queen was called that, right? A while ago. Queen Vicky. The one who wouldn't smile?" Faye moved closer to one of the starch white hospital beds and hauled herself on, cautious not to hurt herself more.

Faye shrugged when Victoria asked her if she'd broken anything, but winced slightly whilst doing so. "Oh, no! No! Nothing's broken. Possibly bleeding. I don't want to take off my sleeves, haha." She scratched the back of her neck.

"That bandage looks bad. Are you alright? Well, I suppose magic can fix that. That's why we're here." Faye perked up suddenly "Oh, I'm also in Ravenclaw! How come I haven't seen you around? Are you hiding from me?"

She stretched her arms out and wiggled them around a bit. "Yup. Muggle-born. Weeeeell apparently my father had a wizarding family but couldn't go to Hogwarts but he only told me that a couple of weeks ago. It's complicated. What about you?"

"What's broom-racing? Is it some type of cleaning game? You have to clean the room in under a certain amount of time?"

The hospital wing wasn't only there for extreme emergencies, as often as that unfortunately happened, but also bumps and bruises. It was no secret that kids were extremely accident-prone, he himself had probably broken every bone at least once while he was in school. Because of that, some of the beds were occasionally filled by kids who had taken a fall. It was well enough, as with the advent of student assistants in the hospital wing, easy cases like that, which only required a quick 'Ferula' to fix, were great practice.

While returning from a small errand back to the wing, Kelsey noticed the two girls chatting, one with bandages and one that looked yet untreated. Not the type to just walk by when it looked like his help was needed, he'd sidle up to the bedside.

"Heya. Sorry t'butt in, but is there somethin' you need help with?" He'd be asking the untreated girl, then shifting his attention to the other one. "If you got bandages that means you been treated. You can stay if y'need the rest, but y'don't hafta."

If both of them shooed him along without needing anything, he would shrug and go back to his desk at the back of the wing.

Faye looked up when a man walked up. He looked like a professor due to his age, but she couldn't tell. She'd only been here for a few months. "Oh yes. Do you work here? You look like you work here, you're too old to be a student. Was that rude?" She clasped her hand over her mouth and looked back at Victoria.

"Those bunkbeds are a hazard, sir. Slipped, fell, ended up here." She wiggled her hurt shoulder a bit to point notice to it and then winced "I was told to come here by some students. Are you able to help? I don't know if it's bad or not."

Faye looked down at her wand for a second and looked back up, not looking in the man's eyes. It was not that she didn't trust or like him, but she just had trouble with eye contact. She'd had it since she was little. "Can you use magic to fix it? It's strange. Could you fix broken bones? How does it work? Do you just make a little ‘whoosh’-” She made a movement with her hand “-And everything is better again?”

She listened to Victoria Faye and smiled. "I'm a hybrid. Besides, broom racing has nothing to do with what you're saying." Victoria laughed. "Speed race, first to finish wins." Victoria smiled.

A few minutes later a man entered. Victoria didn't quite understand who this person was, but guessed it was a nurse.

"Oh yes. Do you work here? You look like you work here, you're too old to be a student. Was that rude?"

Victoria bit her cheek to keep from laughing. Faye was really funny. She smiled when she saw Victoria Faye looking at her. Victoria laughed when the nurse left. She really had tears in her eyes from laughing. Victoria looked at Faye.

"What you did was not rude, but it was SO FUNNY!" Victoria laughed again. When Victoria calmed down, she blushed and apologized.

"Does the bandage look so bad? Frankly, I don't really care." Victoria smiled. "I'll wait for you, after all we're friends now, right?" Victoria said with mild curiosity.

Victoria settled into the bed. "What's your impression of Hogwarts so far? I think it's a great place, but I guess you have to be Einstein to get anywhere without getting lost." Victoria smiled.

"DO YOU KNOW? I FALL INTO THE BIG LAKE AT HOGWARTS!" Victoria chuckled at the thought of it.

The girl without the bandages answered him right away, the other one seeming to be stifling her words for one reason or another. It could have been his shabby look, or the fact that he was fairly short for an adult man, or a fear of getting in trouble. Lots of kids ended up in the hospital wing after having done something they weren't supposed to be doing, but Kels didn't pry and was no snitch. As long as she was healed, he was happy. To the injured girl's explanation however, he'd laugh a bit at her wording.

"Pahaha, those cruel beds. I gotcha. An' yeah, I'm the head nurse, you can call me Kels or Nurse Brumby, whatever suit ya." He'd pull out his wand from a pocket in his coat, before she would start to ask about the nature of healing magic. "Eeyup. Watch this. Ferula."

With that, and a poke of his wand to her shoulder, it would wrap up in bandages, a soothing healing effect along with them. Having done that, she would need no more, and he'd be on his way. "Alrighty, have fun you two."

He'd be able to hear Victoria's laughter once he had left, which would bring a smile to his face. He wasn't sure what she was laughing at but kid's laughter was just plain nice to hear.
