Roar of the Lions - House Cup Party
Aurelia only recently heard about the party, she received the word form on of her dormitory mates. She had been so busy the past week, completing assignments and all that she forgot about it. There were a few dresses in her wardrobe. She randomly picked one. It was beige with flowers petals on it. She slipped on her only pair of heels and made her way up to the Astronomy tower. The shoe cut into the back of her foot near the ankle. She hated it, she was sure it was going to give her a few blisters after the party, but she needed to look as presentable as possible. She stood near the threshold of the ajar door and pulled at the hem of her skirt. Aurelia wasn't used to wearing dresses or skirts, she preferred plain old denims that didn't show much skin.
She pushed the door open. The room were bustling with students from Gryffindor. Her eyes caught sight of the mugs of butterbeer laid on the table across the room. She walked there and picked a cup. She lifted the cup towards her and her lips rested on a side of its rim. She never tasted butterbeer before. She took a sip. A smile immediately spread across her face, it was good and tasted liked the delicious cream that was often put on cakes, it tasted like butter cream.
Aurelia needed to talk to someone or she would be bored. She looked around the room. She eyed a boy with dark hair putting a few sticks of firecracker into his pockets. She walked over to him and coughed a little too forcefully to get his attention. "Excuse me, did you know that could be dangerous if used wrongly?" an eyebrow raised as she questioned him.
"Muggle toys can be dangerous especially if a spell were to be used on it, so what are you planning to do with those?" Her eyes narrowed skeptically. She leaned against the table, supporting herself with an arm. She then smirked as she took one and placed it in her own pocket. She was surprised that her dress even had pockets. The firecracker created a noticeable bulge, she ran her hand across it, smoothing it down.

Roar of the Lions - House Cup Party
Tap tap tap tap tap tap. Dorian rolled over on the bed, turning on his side and hugging the pillow tightly as he curled into a ball and continued to sleep. BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG! An object was being rapped against a solid surface, producing such a sound that should have had the power to raise the dead. This dead, that is Dorian, continued to sleep the time away, seeming to not have heard any of it. The figure that had taken it upon themself to make the attempt at waking Dorian, did the only thing left that they had yet to try. Both hands extended swiftly and shoved, hard, sending the sleeping boy to the ground below with a heavy thud. Dorian sprang to his feet in a fit of rage, looking for the culprit.
What he saw was the rapidly retreating figure of a Gryffindor male getting out of dodge before Dorian could see who it was. "House Cup Party at the Astronomy Tower!" he yelled as he fled. Standing there partly confused, partly angry, and partly sleepy, he eyed the bed longingly as if in deep contemplation on whether he would be able to get away with five more minutes. Those five minutes that he dreamed of were wasted staring at the bed dreaming of them, and when he finally caught on to this fact he groaned aloud and scratched lazily. In truth, he had not been planning to go to the party. There would be too many people, too much noise, too little peace and quiet. Not only that but if he went he would be expected to, along with everyone else, have fun. Sleep was what he wanted, but that seemed to be exceedingly difficult to come by when you were a Gryffindor.
Deciding that it might be best to suck it up and go, he dressed simply and left on his way to the tower. When he got there the first thing he noticed was the massive crush of eleven and twelve-year-old bodies moving to the music, socializing or otherwise brooding to themselves in a corner. Some good brooding was in order for him too, as he did not really intend to stay long. He was just about to lean against a wall, place his hands in his pockets and act all cool when he spotted a flash of red that was all too familiar on the short thing it belonged to. She was right next to a boy Dorian knew well, and together with each other in the way they were, he knew instantly that they must be up to no good.
He wasted no time forcefully shoving his way through the crowd and stepping on as many toes as he could on his way over to them, and when he got there he snuck up just out of view, in time t to hear Eris ask which class they should set on fire first. Naturally, Dorian had the perfect class in mind. "Herbology!" he yelled, wishing to see the class canceled permanently. "If on the off chance we do get caught we can always say we were trying to defend ourselves and the school from a mad infestation of giant Devil's Snare that Professor Wright was growing without anyone's knowledge in hopes of taking over the school." Farfetched and elaborate, Dorian quite liked this idea and would happily see it done if they agreed. It was no secret what he thought of Herbology. At least he knew what Devil's Snare's weakness was. He did pay attention after all.
He didn't tune in for Eris' admiration of Rhea and her overly dressed stature, better applying his time to gather some of the fireworks himself for later use. These three would bring the school to ruin if left to their own devices, that much was clear. As if he had forgotten something, he spotted Aubren making her way over to them, and just like that he felt as if their little circle was complete. Then he recalled what they were doing and his eyes widened like the eye emoji. Dropping the fireworks unceremoniously and stepping quickly past Max and Eris who had yet to notice her, he greeted Aubren loudly; dramatically. "Hey Aubren! Didn't think this was your scene. You never cease to surprise me, Anson." His intention was to subvert her attention long enough while alerting the other two so they could use all their magician skills to do the vanishing act of the fireworks. Dorian assumed, with reason, that Aubren might not sympathize with their plans. She rather liked Herbology and classes in general from what he understood.

Roar of the Lions - House Cup Party
Parcel tried to look as inconspicuous as possible where he stood while pocketing some of the sparkling sticks. He now and again took glances around the tower, just to check that no one had caught on to him taking a few of them. He noticed that most of the students already had found someone to talk to. Not really minding that he didn’t seem to know anyone here, he went back to inspecting the sticks. While it might be a bit sad not knowing anyone at your own house party, it did make him less noticeable, “so I guess it’s fine? I can probably socialize some later.”
He was pretty sure he knew how the sticks worked just by looking at them… Well… looking and maybe poking a hole in one, just to check if it was liquid or a firm material inside. And, it was neither, or it was powder… so both? Liquified firm material? Parcel didn’t really know, it was a powder at least. Thinking like that he wondered what would be best. Try to enlarge the whole thing, or extracting the powder from its paper capsule and just using a bigger one? Thinking this would need to be investigated further he felt a little bit of enthusiasm. This was almost like exploring! He really loved exploring his surroundings, finding hidden rooms and secrets, making secret bases or clubs, seeing cool hidden things, and this was almost the same! Except instead of exploring a place, you explore an object! Taking some of the powder on his hand he tried rubbing his fingers together, it was almost like sand, “wait, would that mean if you used the enlarging spell then every grain would expand? Would they still light of?”
Totally in his own world, Parcel had stopped paying any mind to his surroundings and didn’t notice anyone approaching him. Taking a bite of the cookie he had in his other hand he kept looking at the speck of black dust on his index finger when he suddenly hears someone that seemed to be speaking to him. He looked up from his finger and raised his eyebrows in surprise. He hadn’t expected anyone to come speak to him, and certainly not a girl. Noticing the girls dress, Parcel felt a bit shy, it really seems he was underdressed for the party.
Listening to the girls questions he was about to answer when he noticed her pocketing a sparkling stick to. A bit perplexed he frantically tried to come up with an answer. He didn’t know if he should trust the girl or not, after all, he had never spoken to her before. He also didn’t understand her intentions, “was it to make a scene? like, while I get in trouble she runs away with her own sparkling sticks? Or was it just friendly banter while we both get away with our sticks?”
“Nothing to extreme, I assure you” Making a bit of a shy smile, he rubbed his index finger on a scar on his chin. It was something he did when thinking, he didn’t even notice himself doing it. He had also forgotten about the powder on his finger, that was now being smudged over the scar.
“I haven’t owned one of these before, so I mostly just want some to look at later, maybe save for a celebration or something” He wasn’t sure how much he should tell, shit, he wasn’t even sure he should tell his friends what he really planned to do. “Hey, what do I plan to do? Ohh, nothing much, just wants to see if I can’t weaponize it as a card up my sleeve later down the line…” Yeah, he was pretty sure that wouldn’t go so well over with most people.
“Umm, on an unrelated topic, I haven’t had to many people to ask, but you look knowledgeable, so perhaps you know. Do you know anyone with knowledge of how the enlargement spell works, or perhaps know how to cast it properly? A student would be preferable” Giving his most innocent smile he tried to make the question as inconspicuous as possible. All thought he didn’t really know her, “wouldn’t questions pertaining spells be an appropriate icebreaker in a wizard school?” Or at least that’s what Parcel thought.

Lucy enjoyed looking at all the students having fun, She recognised some of them and the others were new faces to her. Mostly one specific girl caught her eye, Rhea Bishop she was a pretty girl quite impossible to not notice her. She had seen her a couple of times before and she seemed like a sweet girl, Not knowing many Gryffindors other that Alan Vanes she wanted to actually socialise with the students of her house a bit more.
She started walking over to the girl with the extra dress, She will admit it was extra but it looked fascinating on her.
She approached the girl noticing she was talking to a few of her friends, She instantly regretted her choice taking some steps back bumping into somebody ''U-uh sorry'' She said her head hanging low as she apologised with a bright flash of red on her face. She was quite the awkward student unless she was outside on the field doing sports. That's the only time you could talk to her without her running away because she was embarrassed.
''Come on Lucy you are a Gryffindor..Have courage...have courage..have cou-'' Before she knew it she was already right next to the girl. ''U-uh Hi! Uh..I just wanted to say your dress is really extra pretty'' The shorter girl said giving the girl next to her a dorky smile.
''You probably don't know me but my name is Lucy Howell..I'm a Gryffindor an-'' She took a moment to realise what she had said ''Of course you are a Gryffindor Lucy why would you be here?'' She asked herself mentally slapping herself.
''I just wanted to ask if you wanted to be friends?'' She asked tilting her head to side awaiting for an answer.

In all the experiences and exposures Alice's peculiar upbringing provided her, she had never once attended a party. Of course the orphanage had celebrations for birthdays and the like but sharing a sweet or two with the same faces you lived with was hardly a special occasion. In typical fashion the young witch would present confidently in hopes that she would come off as familiar and comfortable even though a certain amount of social anxiety dug beneath that careless expression. It was frankly an accomplishment just encouraging herself to attend, even if stylishly late.
Since the age Alice was old enough to have an attitude she fervently refused any prospect of wearing a dress. It could be a formal ball with the Minister of Magic himself and she'd still feel inclined to wear ripped jeans and a leather jacket. Today Alice felt the compromise of unripped dark jeans with a black and red paneled flannel over a white T-Shirt with a skull design. Concealing only some of her crimson streaked white-blond hair was a dark gray beanie cap. A silver necklace of a four point star hung loosely around her neck. Perhaps she'd get some slack for her potentially too casual attire but it was a weight of relief to finally be out of those heavy wizarding robes.
Alice's emerald eyes scanned the room as she sauntered across the rooftop gathering. There were plenty of faces she found familiar from around the castle but none she could say she really knew. "If you try so hard to put off that you don't want friends, you might actually start to believe it yourself." Her adoptive father's words ran through her mind. "Then... then you're in real trouble, kid." Alice shook her head in time with a perfectly queued roll of the eyes. "Tch..." She'd grumble beneath her breath. "What do you know?" Alice grabbed a handful of sweets from a table as she passed and buried them in her pockets. Another hand grabbed a variety of fire crackers to stuff in an opposing pocket. The last grab would be for a tall glass of butterbeer which she carried openly with her to the far wall of the rooftop. The witch would pull herself up to sit on the high ledge and observe the party amidst a feast of candies and frothy amber liquid.

Even in the material world, you will find that if you look for the light, you can often find it. But if you look for the dark, that is all you will ever see.
Roar of the Lions - House Cup Party
"Why do you need sparkling sticks when you can just use a spell like Periculum?" She asked. She had learnt the spell from a defence against the dark arts lesson. Periculum was a spell that shot a ball of red light, it could be used as a signal or to scare of creatures, or in this situation, could be used in party like these.
"Don't tell me you don't know about the spell, it was one of the first lessons of the DADA class. It shoots red sparks from your wand and looks much like a flare gun. Well, since you do not know what a sparkling stick is, you probably would not know what a flare gun is." The brunette stated. She took out a red thick stick from her pocket a displayed it on the table. She took a swig of butterbeer, finishing of the last drops before explaining, "These are not sparkling sticks, in fact, they are firecrackers, they are much louder and have more ‘poof’ then those thin sticks." she did a gesture with both of her hands, her fingers dancing in the outward direction, intending for the boy to get an image of what “poof” meant.
She winked at him before directing her wand at the red object. "Engorgio," She murmured the incantation. The firecracker swelled in size, growing much larger within seconds, she tapped her wand on it and said the counter spell when the object was about twice it size than what it had been earlier. Now it was almost the size of a muggle baseball. She was sure it was going to cause a massive explosion and scare the hell out of anyone, but it was harmless.
"Don't tell anyone and don't use it indoors." She warned with her voice barely above a a breath of a whisper as she pushed the oversized firecracker towards him. She wondered what he was going to use it for, maybe a prank? She didn’t bother asking.
“Name’s Aurelia, by the way. You’re welcome. ” she said patting the firecracker lightly before turning on her heels and walking away. She definitely did not want to get involved in whatever he was planing. She didn’t believe a word he just said, but helped him just for the fun of it.
Aurelia then caught sight of a girl with pale blond hair streaked with pink and she had almost a ton of snacks, drinks and firecrackers in her arm as she walked to the far end of the room and seated on the ledge of the rooftop.
"Thats a lot you have in your hands," Aurelia commented as she sat with her. Anytime, if she would lean back, it was possible for her to fall to her doom, however Aurelia knew she wasn’t that clumsy. She remembered seeing her at the lake, it was an awkward experience that made her shudder when she came to think about it.
The girl was dressed plainly in jeans and a white shirt, it wasn't a rare sight, a handful of students also didn't bother to dress as well. It was only a party flooded with 12 year olds and wasn’t very formal event. Aurelia on the other hand, love to experiment with her garments any chance she got.

Roar of the Lions - House Cup Party
Lisabetta had heard about the party that was being held to celebrate Gryffindor winning the house cup, and at first, she was dead set on not going. She had watched as some of her roommates got dressed for it and headed out, and secretly wished that she had gone with them. She had almost decided that it was too late to go now, but talked herself out of it. Lately, she had been making herself do stuff that she wouldn't have normally done before coming to Hogwarts. From doing this, she had really begun to come out of her shell, almost becoming a completely different person. She decided, late or not, she was going to go.
She went to her dresser, going through the different options for her to wear, because she was not going to wear her robes. Old her would have, but not new her. It didn't take her long to find the perfect thing to wear. It was a high necked, modestly fitted, cocktail dress. It was scarlet red with golden designs, perfect celebrate a Gryffindor win. She styled her hair up in a messy bun, strands of her falling around her face. A pair of short, golden heels and golden dangly earrings finished the ensemble.
She made her way to the Astronomy tower, happy to note that she didn't seem too late. There were already couple of people around, but not too many. She saw a few people that she recognized and got a little bit more comfortable with the idea of being here. She was in awe with, what the Professor called, fireworks. Muggles did have magic, they just didn't realize it. She made her way over to the refreshments table, grabbing a small plate, before making her way over to a part of the tower that wasn't too crowded. She had gotten herself out here, but she wasn't sure she was ready to just go up to people and start talking, most of them had already formed groups anyways.

Roar of the Lions - House Cup Party
Those emerald eyes were firmly locked on the party before her. Was Alice jealous of the friend groups formulating and conversing? Probably. Would she admit it? Certainly not. Her eyesbrows lifted in surprise when a voice called towards her attention. That expression of surprise quickly contorted to one of narrow glares. She followed the girl as she approached and took a spot beside her. Alice didn't know this girl's name but her face was somewhat hard to forget. This witch had a sore lip to thank Aurelia for. "You again..." She grumbled. "Not gonna attack me again, are ya'? This place has got plenty of witnesses. Don't go gettin' any ideas."
Alice stuffed another candy in her mouth and tossed a glance back at the party. She noticed one girl in particular standing somewhat apart from the crowd as well. "Hey, you! Fellow antisocial weirdo!" She'd call out to Lisabetta with no idea of her name. "See this lady next to me? Do me a solid and call the house master if she tries shoving me to my death! Thanks!" Alice took a proud swig of her butterbeer and eased her demeanor. Her attention once more returned to the party at hand. "I'm Alice... by the way..."

Even in the material world, you will find that if you look for the light, you can often find it. But if you look for the dark, that is all you will ever see.
Roar of the Lions - House Cup Party
Looking over Sabrina's head and into the star-lit up sky, Rhea smiled at the serene feeling it brought her. The stars always brought a nice feeling to the redheaded girl - it reminded her of her childhood, when her parents used to take her out on long walks on their property and actually pay attention to her. But those memories were very vague, as it had been almost 7 years since they had done that. Rhea closed her eyes to will the memories away, and instead focused on the present, where she had loving friends who would talk to her. It made her feel so much better, so validated.
When she first realized how much she had overdressed for the party, a brief feeling of insecurity flitted through her. Rhea immediately pushed it away, realizing that she was a Bishop. Bishops don't feel insecure - ever. Instead, the young girl decided to embrace the attention and performed a little spin for all those who were watching, the back of her dress flying behind her and then landed with a small floof on the ground. She shot a smile at her audience, and then returned her attention back to Sabrina. Who, it seemed was very underdressed compared to Rhea. It made the redhead laugh when she saw how simple Sabrina looked in comparison - it showed a lot about their friendship.
The moon slowly started to rise through the sky, marking the end of the day and officially plunging the world into darkness, with the moon's shine being the only source of light. The stars shone ever so bright, and a soft smile grew on Rhea's face.
Maybe she shouldn't push away the memories; instead, she should embrace them.
Casting a glance at the rest of the party, Rhea caught Eris sneaking some fireworks into the folds of her robes, and she snickered. Of course she would do that - there was no surprise at all. Rhea just hoped neither her nor the others she would work with--most likely Max Avery, Rhea had heard they worked together on many pranks--would get caught. That would suck.
Turning her attention back on the people next to her, Rhea saw a--was that silver hair?--girl approaching them. The girl looked vaguely familiar, but Rhea couldn't remember where-wait, she was that girl from the Tag that had taken out a whole bunch of boys. Grinning at the girl who had given the girls the opportunity to brag, Rhea waved.
The girl introduced herself as Lucy Howell, and Rhea nodded with happiness at finally knowing the girl's name. Lucy went on to ramble about something or other, and Rhea laughed. Why was this girl so nervous? Rhea curtsied dramatically when the silver-haired girl complimented her dress, and laughed.
''I just wanted to ask if you wanted to be friends?" the girl ended her ramble with a question, and Rhea tilted her head. What was the harm? This girl was a nice enough girl, and she definitely had the aptitude to become a great witch - that much was seen from her ability during the Tag.
"I don't see why not," Rhea answered with a grin, and threw an arm around the other's shoulders.

Roar of the Lions - House Cup Party
No one could miss it when Rhea walked into the crowd. A bright pink dress naturally caught the eyes of others, let alone the kind of person wearing such a garment. Sabrina's own eyes trailed Rhea's movements, up until she approached her. A smile broke out across the brunette girl's face, and she reached over to hug her friend and dorm mate, careful not to touch her dress too much. She would hate to be the one to ruin it. "Hi Rhea! About time you showed up," Sabrina teased, her voice a perky sort of pitch. She seemed to always be pegged as a "happy-go-lucky" type of person, even though she didn't see it herself.
As Rhea asked about Max and Eris, she looked over to the crowded table of fireworks, raising her eyebrows at them. "Making trouble, of course," She muttered, but didn't gesture towards the two. Rhea didn't seem to hear though, she was instead looking up at the sky. Sabrina's gaze followed, and she found her mouth agape as she took in the beauty of the sky above them. The only thing she could think of was how she wished Reid could join the Gryffindors for the celebration - too bad he was a Hufflepuff.
Her thoughts trailed back to her own sorting back in September. The hat had debated on putting her in Hufflepuff for a good minute or two. She was glad she was in Gryffindor, but she still contemplated what her life would have been like at Hogwarts if she were a Hufflepuff. Would she be closer with Serena and Reid? Would she know Eris and Rhea still? She pulled herself out of her thoughts soon enough, and then looked to Rhea again. "You look great tonight, Rhe," She noted, a grin reappearing on the girl's face. It would be odd for someone to see her not smiling.
Just then, another girl walked up to them, and she seemed to be talking to herself. She stuttered over her words in a way, but seemed to be more interested in Rhea than Sabrina. She still stood though, leaned against the wall. An observer. She wasn't very fit for the party scene, and it made her kind of wish that she had spent her time on the island with her mother's parents. They were a big pureblood name, and the girl knew that if she had just stayed on the island with her mother, she would have been just as well-equipped with social skills as the other girls.
It seemed like Rhea had made a friend though, so of course that was nice. Sabrina's grin had dulled down into a close-lipped smile, and she looked away from them to the rest of the party once more. Maybe she should try to socialize with more people, but then again she only really ever stuck to one person her entire life. It was about time that ended. "I'm going to catch you later." Sabrina waved to Rhea, and the other girl as well, before pushing off of the stone wall.
In no time, she disappeared back into the crowd, winding through the plentiful amount of people. She would either disappear for the night, or find someone to speak to. One way or another, she would find a way to have some sort of fun tonight.
