Family Histories
Eris's head was lost in thoughts of the five months she had spent on the streets of London. It wasn't a peaceful thing to think upon, but Eris looked onto those days, with a sort of fondness. Not a normal kind of fondness, but a remembrance of the simplicity of life then. Life had revolved around food, the cold, and the park. Somehow she had survived on the streets, due to the kindness of people that wanted to help a young girl in trouble, and partly due to the hope that her life would change. Just like her mother had promised.
But while her mother had screamed, and warned Eris against the school of magic and the magic abilities that Eris had possessed from a young age, Eris had welcomed the ideas of a magical school. She had dreamed about Hogwarts, and hoped that a wizard or witch would find her and rescue her from her life of boring, dull life of mundane drama and family heartbreak and betrayal.
When she had finally been found, and thrust into the world of magic, Eris had learned a simple lesson. That everybody struggled. Every person struggled with family issues, or something. When she came to Hogwarts, she had found the story of Harry Potter. Another child with a broken family, although his parents were dead and he was stuck with his aunt and uncle. Eris had clung unto that story, idolizing the wizarding hero.
Eris snapped out of her thoughts of the past, and the hero of the past war, when Rhea promised to help Eris find her family during break. Eris couldn't help but smile, cheering up in a heart beat. A family.
She couldn't believe her grandparents were out there. And, from what Rhea had said, her family wanted her. Feeling more grateful than she could express, Eris smiled at Rhea. "I wouldn't ever forget you." She said it with a voice that was starkly honest, with the voice of a child making a promise they would always try to uphold.

Family Histories
A family was something that Rhea hoped everyone had. Sure, it may not be a good one, but at least they had the assurance that there might be someone out there for them. Sometimes. Still, it was better than nothing. Rhea turned to say something else to Eris, but saw that she had zoned out. Hopefully, Rhea’s words hadn’t hurt Eris, otherwise …
But soon, the other girl seemed to zone back in and replied with a happy, “I wouldn't ever forget you." It was said in the voice of a child, a happy and innocent one, and Rhea was glad that she was able to lift the girl’s mood at least a little bit. It was her sole purpose in life, at least for now, in Rhea’s eyes. If she couldn’t have someone be there for her, then she had to be there for everyone. It was the only way to even everything out.
Happy with Eris’s response, Rhea grinned once more, this one more of a relieved smile. So, she took a deep breath in and breathed out, and relaxed. There was no harm done, and Rhea could continue talking to Eris without worrying about anything.
“Lucky me,” Rhea replied with a smile. Then, realizing that Rhea still knew nothing of the Rowles and Fawleys after the… event, she decided to ease into the conversation. She couldn’t just outright ask her, that would ruin and inconsiderate - but on the other hand, what other way was she to bring it up? Thinking deeply, Rhea thought she’d finally come up with a good way.
“So, erm… what about your life before you...before you ran away?” hoping that the question wasn’t too intrusive, Rhea held her breath. Sometimes, she didn’t know what the limit was, where she crossed the line, and it hurt her often. She hoped it wasn’t the case here.

Family Histories
Friendship was not something Eris understood. In her life, her friendships had been limited to Adam, Kaegen, and a few others. And clearly, most of those friendships hadn't gone well. Hence, punching Eri Windstone in the jaw and yelling at Adam Harringtom in Defence Against the Dark Arts Class. She hadn't had many friends in her young life, but she understood promises. She understood the depth of a promise, and with all of her childlike brain and heart, she indented to uphold her promise of not forgetting Rhea Bishop. It didn't seem like much, but after sharing so much with Rhea, it was only fitting that the two would become friends. At least in Eris's eyes.
Naive and unable to understand inner motives, Eris had no idea, nor would she even assume that Rhea was using her for power in the pure blood world. Not being raised with traditional pure blood values, Eris knew nothing about the world Rhea belonged too, and by default, the world Eris belonged too, as well.
She couldn't wait to meet her grandparents. Not that she knew a lot about them. There was Demetra Fawley, the legendary matron of the Fawley family, a Hit Witch for the Ministry of Magic, and her husband an unspeakable working in the Love Chamber. Both Demetra and Adrian Fawley were well known wizards in the their time, but there was little known about Jane Rowle's parents. Death eaters who had gone crazy when their daughter vanished into mid-air, along with her betrothed. They were shrouded in mystery, as was the ways of Demetra and Adrian.
Eris smiled back at Rhea, but her smile faded away as Rhea asked about her life being she had ran away. She hadn't thought about her life before going away, not for many months. Life at Hogwarts had been to busy to waste thinking about life before school. Sighing again, Eris leaned back in her chair.
"Well, I was homeschooled with my sister. It was typical, I guess. My mum was always a bit weird. Paranoid and what not. My dad wasn't home a lot. So I dunno." Was that what a typical childhood was like? Eris honestly had no idea. It wasn't like she hung out with other kids and studied their families.

Family Histories
Although she knew that it possible wasn't the best idea to ask what had happened before her arrival at Hogwarts, Rhea knew that it would be the best thing to do if they wanted to advance their friendship. If the young Bishop was to be honest, she saw this friendship really going somewhere and wanted to make sure that she knew everything there was to know, so that when something was wrong, Rhea would know how to comfort the other redhead. It was times like these where Rhea was reminded that she didn't particularly know how to address serious conversations - but, she tried the best she could. And that was as best as it could for the young, still learning, girl.
The young Bishop listened raptly as the other explained about her living situation - her paranoid mother, her absent father. Why was he absent? She felt it was inadequate to question it, so instead, Rhea offered Eris another hug. What she couldn't present in words, Rhea made up for in actions and hugs. Mostly hugs. She really did love giving hugs to people.
"Well, at least now you'll have a loving family," Rhea stated, pulling away from her newfound friend and settling down in her chair. Then Rhea thought about what she said and bit her lip. Was she right? Rhea knew that sometimes, pureblood parents didn't particularly... love their kids - but Eris's relatives would, right? How could they not love a girl who had missing from them for 11 years; their long lost granddaughter. Slowly convincing herself, Rhea nodded and grinned at Eris. She wasn't instilling false hope into the girl - no, this was real hope.
Deciding that they'd had enough of this stuffy library, Rhea stood up and brushed herself off. The bottom of her robes were stuck to her, so Rhea fanned herself, feeling small beads of sweat trickle down the sides of her face. Why was she sweating? It wasn't all too hot, and the library wasn't that stuffy. Then, a happy little thought popped into the redhead's head. What if the two were to go to the beach?
"Hey, Eris," Rhea turned around and spoke with a light smile, gesturing, "It's a nice day out, and I don't think we should spend it inside. Wanna go out to the lake?"
Hoping that the redhead would say yes, Rhea leaned against the bookshelf - but didn't put all her weight on it, for she had to make sure that the same thing that happened to her when she was with Max Avery wouldn't happen to her here. A small cough escaped her, and as Rhea composed herself, she waited patiently for the other's answer.
She really did hope Eris would say yes - and hopefully, the Squid wouldn't attack while Rhea was out at the Lake this time.
