So Many Books, So Little Time PV Della Barfield F

Simon watched as she pulled out the notebook and scripted the name at the top of the page. The lettering was done fantastic and then his eyes moved to toward the bottom of the page with her drawing, which was also quite nice. "Okay, so is Herman up first on our study sessions?" It was a good place to start, something close to Hogwarts, something they both had seen, something they both at least had enough interest in to have just had a slight conversation about.

Simon thought it was a good idea. "We can check the library here and see if there's any books pertaining to the dude and we'll check them out but don't look through them yet. We'll meet then at the Great Lake, tomorrow?" Would that work for her? "After supper. We can then go through the books and maybe see a personal sighting as well."

If she'd agree to it, then the two could search out a couple of books on the topic that they thought might be helpful and then part ways for the night, with the promise of meeting back tomorrow evening at the Great Lake. He thought it was quite a good plan because if ones wanted to be study buddies, they'd have to get started on those study sessions!

"Herman would be a great place to start." Della listened to Simon's plan, her excitement growing—Hogwarts wasn't too scary when one had someone regular to talk to. She began to imagine how many things they would learn this way: they could cover giant squids, regular squids, imps, goblins, werewolves, vampires, and snakes. (Della had once met a talking snake; she was sure this library had some information on what exactly he was or how he learned to talk.)

"Okay, tomorrow after supper at the lake. I'll be there. I'll grab a few desserts from the great hall—snacks for us or maybe for Herman." Della gave Simon a small salute. "And yes, we should check out some books now, but then I ought to get started on real homework. I can't believe there's already so much on the first day!"

It was weird to think she was so excited to dive into transfiguration an hour ago, but now the idea of extracurricular knowledge and magical creatures and exploring the stacks quickly supplanted that excitement. Magical homework would probably start to feel like real homework in no time.

"You look in "C" for creatures and I'll look in "S" for squid?" They probably weren't using the Dewey decimal system at Hogwarts.
