Quidditch Gryffindor vs Ravenclaw Jan 2022 Completed

A chaser’s job was supposed to be to go for the quaffle and score ten points here and there. However, this years’s Ravenclaw team had no interest in doing that, or at least it wasn’t Lavinia’s job to do. As the game started, Lavinia ignored the quaffle completely and watched as her friend Haley scored twice for Gryffindor. It was weird for Lavinia, she didn’t exactly want Gryffindor to score points, but no one on Ravenclaw contested them for it and it was Haley that was scoring. A small smile twitched at the edge of Lavinia’s face, she was happy to see Haley out there scoring points even if it was against her own team.

Shaking off her emotions that had started to backstab her, Lavinia focused on the move that she needed to complete. Flying quickly towards Gryffindor’s captain, Rafael, Lavinia readied herself to collide with him. Unfortunately right as she went in for the attack, he moved carefully out of the way. Letting out an exasperated grunt, Lavinia flew away and prepared herself for another penalty lap. Hearing no call for a penalty lap but rather angry noises behind her, Lavinia looked back to see the Gryffindor captain holding his hands up in an offensive gesture while saying what she assumed were curses in another language. Immediately picking up her pace, Lavinia let a laugh leave her lips as she had accomplished what she wanted. If they could act with anger then they would be much easier to take out, the Ravenclaw’s however were acting with their heads and would be until they won.

Gabriella had no clue what was happening. It had all started so well... and now...
The Ravenclaw nipped nimbly in and out of the players in the sky, intent with all her being on reaching her target. She picked out her Gryffindor opponent from amidst the mass of blue and red, readied her bat, swung her arm with immense precision - one of her best shots yet, she might have wagered, if she had been ranking them - before the Gryffindor swerved out of the way just in time. "Aah," said Gabby, begrudgingly, under her breath. She dared not say anything more obscene than that - somewhere inside, the naive young Ravenclaw still felt that it could truly be her day.

This conviction, unfortunately, did not last long. No sooner had Gabby turned round than she felt the familiar, red-hot pain of the Bludger against her own back, sent hurtling towards her by some unsuspected Gryffindor player. This time, Gabriella really did swear as her broom fell down beneath her, and the second-year for a moment felt almost certain she was going to die before another plank of wood slid beneath her, and she was riding the broom of her team's Keeper, Aly. Her heart hammering against her chest, Gabby fumbled for the wood and clutched tightly onto it, trying to ground herself, trying to stop her eyes from swimming. She knew she desperately wanted to win the match, but there was a part of her - possibly the same indecisive part which had been so certain of her success a mere few moments previously - which almost wished she had crashed to the ground, so she could have been carted safely off to the hospital wing to take a few deep breaths and regain her senses after the shock. This, however, was not to be. Quidditch was a dangerous game, and there was no use in wishing otherwise, especially in the middle of a match.
"I must admit, I've never had a Beater on my broom before," said Aly. Her voice, though usually perfectly nice, jangled horribly in Gabby's ears, and she forced a smile.
"Yeah," she laughed, unconvincingly. "It's alright though. I'm still... as fierce as ever..."

With a returned wave from Winnie came a flood of satisfaction to Marshal's senses. From this distance, the boy would not spot the rosy hue of her cheeks, yet the friendly movement of her hand was enough to set his heart ablaze against the frigid wind. That should be enough to keep him warm, he figured.
His attention was only torn from the Ravenclaw when the ringing sound of a whistle pierced the air, signifying the beginning of the match and igniting the fires of competition in earnest. Hazel eyes shot up to the skies as fourteen figures darted erratically about, moving to their respective places like frenzied birds in a rather unusual formation.

In a situation with so many areas to focus on at once, his gaze automatically defaulted to Gryffindor's seeker, and all of the action near her. And the action he saw would bring a furious furrow to his brow.
Just as Evelynn avoided one cheating Eagle, she was bombarded by yet another assailant, this time in the form of a vicious metal ball.
Suddenly Marshal found his feet, readying himself to streak toward Evelynn's falling figure and play the part of the hero he truly was. But she did not fall; an exclamation of pain was the only thing to signify the collision before the seeker sped away.
No sooner did a breath of relief escape the boy's lips than his eyes found the culprit responsible for sending the projectile in her direction. A heated frown occupied his face as a mental note was made of who exactly needed to die.

Ana's thoughts were flying quicker than she was, which was saying something. How had everything gotten so stressful? How had she made it through the last several years and managed to keep it together only to begin to crack under the pressure now? She couldn't. She wouldn't. She had to press through. That's what Becketts did, and as complicated as her family matters were, she was a Beckett. Unfortately.

After her two successful (albeit, uncontested) goals, Haley was rip-roaring and ready to continue her successful scoring run. Unfortunately for her, this time around, she would have some actual competition to face off against. River, apparently seeking a break from seeking, would try her hand at quaffling and end up incredibly successful. Snatching up the quaffle away from Haley, River had complete control of the red ball and scored three times at Gryffindor's unguarded goalposts. Thirty points for Ravenclaw!

With Ravenclaw hitting the ground running (or flying, in this case), Gryffindor needed to slow their momentum lest they end the game before it really even started. Evelynn, ever the initiator, would soar toward the quaffling Seeker and lock broom handles with Dewlight. Devilish Decipio clearly aimed to throw her opponent off her rhythm, like something out of a John Mulaney sketch, and it worked. Between her focus on the quaffle and Evelynn's sneaky fouling, River nearly lost sight of the snitch. Subtle and sly as ever, Evelynn would get away with the blurt, and no one was any wiser.

Noticing the mild-mannered Ravenclaw co-captain on standby, Gryffindor beater Suzuki decided to target Ravenclaw's current safety net. With an almighty thwack, he sent a bludger hurtling toward poor Syl, but the hit would be absorbed by the dynamic Aly/Gabriella duo. Not today, Suzuki! Continuing Gryffindor's aggressive play, Griseldis would set her sights on River. She had an absolute cannon for an arm, and it looked like River was about to be in a world of hurt, but the Ravenclaw Seeker managed to dive out of the way in the nick of time. The bludger soared past her harmlessly, and she was left to continue playing.

Not to be left out of the bludgering fun, Jorah prepared himself for another earth-moving backbeat. If he hit Evelynn once, maybe he could go two for two? With a grim determination, he swung an almighty swing, and sent the bludger screaming toward the Gryffindor Seeker. Once more, his shot would make full contact, but this time he would successfully knock her off her broom. Decipio was safely caught by her fellow captain, but Jorah would not be left alone to preen over his success. Avenging her captain, Anastasia rocketed through the air at Jorah with the full intent of knocking him clean off his broom. Unfortunately for her, she was a little too obvious about it, and Jorah was gone long before she even reached him. "Penalty lap for Beckett!"

Finally, not wanting to be left out of the action, Lavinia would once again try her hand at blatching. Like captain, like chaser, I guess. However, unlike her last attempt, this time she would be successful. A well-executed blatch and a few moments later, Haley would find herself falling from her broom. Rafael, ever the multi-tasker, was quick to catch his other falling teammate, saving her from a concussion-inducing doom. This time, however, Lavinia's cheating habits would not go unnoticed. "Penalty lap for Cloven!"

REGARDING THE SNITCH…

With the seekers of the respective teams busy quaffling and blurting, the golden snitch was left to continue soaring through the air, completely unbothered by the bloodshed and violence occurring on the pitch. What an unproblematic queen.

What do you do when you are asked to knock one of your closest friends off their broom? Lavinia had been playing quidditch for 4 years and didn’t know. She had never encountered a situation like this until now. That might be because she didn’t have too many friends that weren’t on her own quidditch team. This was one of her first games playing against a friend of hers and she already felt weird by it. It became even worse when her next move was to blatch Haley off of her broom.

Haley and her were close friends in Lavinia’s mind and she did not want to knock her off her broom. Then again, the move had come from her captains and even if Lavinia didn’t want to admit it, they knew what was best for the team. It hurt her though, to chose between her team and her friend. In her head, she knew that her captains were right, Haley was scoring points and needed to be taken out. But, Lavinia had no intention of doing so in her heart.

Deciding to listen to her head, Lavinia hesitantly got into position to blatch Haley. Flying towards Haley, Lavinia connected their brooms and committed the foul that she had done so many times before. As soon as Haley was knocked off of her broom, Lavinia winced in pain for her. “I’M SO SORRY HALEY!”, Lavinia yelled after her falling body. She really wanted to catch Haley but couldn’t. Luckily for Lavinia’s heart, Haley was caught by her teammate and did not hit the ground hard.

Lost in her own sorry thoughts, Lavinia almost didn’t hear the call for her to start a penalty lap, but started one anyway because she definitely deserved it.

Ana was done with everything. Her thoughts were deafening and she moved through the game as if sleepwalking. Pressure built up inside her and she exhaled sharply. One of Ravenclaw's beaters came into her line of sight and her thoughts suddenly silenced. Without thinking, she dove for him, hurtling through the air with pure rage.

Annnnnnd missed.

Cheeks burning and blinking back tears, she began her penalty lap. She was in her head about this entire game and she needed to get it together. As she circled the pitch, she was kicking herself. Evelynn had been dismounted as had one of Ana's fellow chasers, Ravenclaw had apparently managed to score thrice, and none of Gryffindor's attacks seemed to have properly debilitated their opponents. Gripping her broom tightly enough that, under her gloves, her knuckles were white, she leaned forward, adding speed to her penalty lap. It wasn't as if she'd be much more use to her team actually in the game than she was currently, but she had to at least make the effort.

That look that your friend made when your crush was around. Very iconic, it was all over Winnie’s face, teasing the blushing kid. Though, the redhead's sudden admiration towards one of the Gryffindor players went unnoticed as Aurora had her focus on the charming lad with a sign. Perhaps the house of the brave should be the house of the cuties with that discord uwu emoji as its symbol. “Do you think he likes me?” She turned around from Nicholas’ direction and asked her teammate, hopeful for a big yes. “He’s pretty confusing. It's hard to read his mind sometimes, but I think it’s just me being not very smart.” This boy was even more puzzling than guessing semantle daily words. One day he was red as a tomato, the next day he was cold as ice. The mixed signals suggested that maybe he fancied somebody else. And that someone would be that annoying girl from the race. “There’s this girl though, white hair, and pretty, totally not weird like me. Honestly she seems nice, might be his type and they seemed—” A frown was on her face. For some reason, the next word that came out of her mouth felt heavy, “—close” There was this uneasy feeling on her chest that she couldn’t understand. The jealousy was intense, but the fact that he came unexpectedly to her quidditch match even though she wasn’t playing was already a step up. “Sorry for killing the mood, anyways—” Aurora wiped off even the slightest hint of sadness and continued to cheer on her house, “—GO RAVENCLAW” and of course, waved at Nicholas again.
