Flying on Ice
Winter had gone to her dorm and changed into weather-appropriate clothes that would be easy to skate in. She held a bag in her hand that contained the many pairs of ice skates from both herself and her friend. She took a step down onto the icy surface to make sure it would hold everyone's weight. And it had done just that, upon stepping back onto the white-covered grass with a slight crunch of the snow she smiled, opening the bag and laying out the pairs from largest to smallest though it seemed they would all fit like a one size fits all deal!

It would've seemed as if rumors truly did fly fast being winter could hear people talking in the hallways about a group of first years heading out to the great lake with a dhampir to go skating. She had known they were speaking of her and yet still she did her own thing not bothered by people knowing her business it's not like it's restricted. Winter slipped on a nice pair of black, velvet skates. Though they all looked the same, this one was different, on its blade was carved the name of her beauxbatons bestie "Xeno" as well as her own!
She smiled before lacing them up tightly so they wouldn't slip off if she had done any tricks. She planned on waiting for the others to show but she was so excited she couldn't bear to wait another moment! She slowly got to her feet and made her way back onto the solid, frozen water. she began to skate around a bit in a circle testing out a bit farther towards the middle of the lake, it was rock hard nobody would be falling through, thankfully! Winter took a breath and sped up a bit as she began to skate in a circle before coming to a stop in one place, her body spinning only depending on the simple blades of her skates to keep her from falling. She wouldn't get dizzy easily being she does this a lot and so she continued, the air in her hair putting a smile on her face as her skirt fanned out, showing her speed.

As she stepped outside of the castle into the cold, Grace wrapped her coat a little tighter around her body and her new scarf tighter around her neck. She was excited to take a walk around the grounds in the beautiful snow that had recently fallen; she didn't get to do that very much at home due to her family living in an urban area with less open grass and more pavement. Grace wandered past trees and small hills until she came to the Great Lake. She hadn't been to see it since they came in on those boats. It was beautiful in the wintertime, all frozen over with snow lightly drifting onto the surface and a person doing marvelous ice skating tricks -- wait, what?
She blinked a little harder to make sure she was really seeing what she thought she was seeing. Yes, there was absolutely a girl with silver hair dancing on the ice. And another student watching her, much like Grace was now.
She heard other students gathering, some putting on their own skates, others had brought blankets to sit and just exist there in the moment. She paid them no mind. She was entranced by this ice dancer. Grace had never skated before, neither with blades nor wheels, so whenever she got to watch someone else do it successfully, it was mind-bending.
Tearing her eyes away from the dancer, Grace made a point to introduce herself to the other girl, who looked like she might be a fellow Ravenclaw, watching like the world was ending.
"Hi," she said. "I'm Grace. She's very good, isn't she? It's always amazing watching people do things you can't or are afraid to do."
She turned her head again to watch.
"Do you skate?"

Pax glanced at the girl gliding across the ice gracefully, hidden behind a tree safely out of view from others. They were surprisingly nervous to meet these people, as this was the first thing they had been invited to. They were grateful, but worried. What if they embarrassed themselves so badly that nobody wanted to hang out with them again? That would just be the worst.
Carefully, they leant down and attempted to lace up the old brown skates their brother had lent to them (yes, their brother had very small feet, a fact Pax would never let their brother forget) in large clumsy bows. Taking a deep breath, they shuffled forwards cautiously, grabbing onto whatever was nearby to stay balanced.
Don't mess this up. Don't mess this up.
Awkwardly, Pax balanced on the ice, arms flailing around like a mad person.
Oh no oh no oh no-
With a loud bump, their leg slipped out from under them and they fell down, landing uncomfortably.

Lillian took a deep breath in and out as she mentally prepared herself to step onto the ice. She had skated once before, so she had a basic idea of what to do. She took one more deep breath before stepping onto the ice. She almost immediately started to lose her balance, but she windmilled her arms and, miraculously, managed to keep herself upright. After managing to keep herself upright for a few more moments, she tried to skate forward. For about a minute, she stumbled and struggled to keep her balance, but after that it slowly started to get easier as she started to get the hang of it. Within a few minutes, she could stake forward and turn slowly without flailing. “Yes!” She whispered to herself. She looked around to see what the other skaters were doing, just in time to see someone fall. Her eyes widened and she immediately started to skate over to help the person. When she got closer to the person, she realized she didn’t know how to stop. She tried to dig her heels into the ice and almost lost her balance, but managed to stay standing. She was pretty much stopped, she was still slowly moving sideways, but for now she was good. She looked at the person who had fallen and asked, “Are you okay?”

After Winter invited her and all the other people at the fountain to go skating, Simon went on a quest to get some properly fitting skates.
It was a tough time trying to find ice skates that would fit her right. Simon's feet were super small, and she had to literally walk across the entire castle barefoot to find a good pair of skates. She probably had 18 different kinds of foot fungi now. Great.
Eventually through a lot of pestering, a first year had begrudgingly let her borrow her skates on the promise that she'd give them back later (Spoiler- she wouldn't)
Simon glided onto the rink and saw Winter spinning like some kind of wind up doll. How she did that without throwing up, Simon did not know.
On the other end of the spectrum, there was someone who was struggling to even stand on the ice. They had gone onto the ice rink and could not even stand properly without having to hold onto the railing.
Simon was doing laps around the rink when the Gryffindor rando finally succumbed to the lack of friction and their legs slid out from under them. Concerned, she glided up to them and held out their hand. "Uhm, are you okay? Bones broken?"
Simon noticed that another girl had skated up to her to ask her if she was ok- not as gracefully as she did. Simon looked at them with concern and said "Are you okay? Girl, it looked like you were about to break your ankles. Is this your first time or are you in some kind of slump?"
After they answered, (if any answer was given) Simon helped them up, her hand lingering there while looking at the girls who were watching the others. Why weren't they joining?
Simon turned her attention towards the unknown students. "I'm Simon. What' are your names? And pronouns?" she added, hoping the students wouldn't get mad. It would be a stupid thing to get mad over, but those people existed, unfortunately. Simon had the bad luck of meeting them on multiple occasions.
After chatting with the other students, Simon skated up to Winter and gave her a high five (if Winter accepted it).
"Winter! How are you?" she said happily. "As you can see, i'm dressed... differently." she said, feeling nervous all of a sudden. Maybe she shouldn't have worn something so... feminine. But she could not wear anything else without feeling out of place and like garbage. She hoped that no one would care that much. "Does it look nice? Should i change?

"I'm Simon. What are your names? And pronouns?"
"Oh, hi!" Grace replied with a smile. "My name's Grace! And my pronouns..."
No one had ever asked her that before. And she'd never asked anyone that before. Although maybe she should start. It was the most respectful question she'd been asked in a long time.
"My pronouns are she and her," Grace responded. "Thank you for asking, Simon."
"Oh, and I'm sure it's a little weird that we're just standing here watching. I was on a walk through the grounds when someone caught my eye," Grace continued, gesturing to the skater on the ice. "I don't know how to skate, and honestly, I'm afraid to, but I love seeing others do things I can't. I imagine the person next to me had a similar experience, but I don't want to speak for them," she said, glancing at the other Ravenclaw.
"Gosh, sorry, I talk so much. What are your pronouns, Simon?"
As Simon answered, Grace couldn't help but admire their outfit. The jacket was one thing, so lively and unique, certainly a head-turner in the best way. But even underneath, that skirt/shirt combo was spectacular. It was edgy and bold and very cool-girl, something Grace could only imagine on a runway or in a TV show.
Grace thought about mentioning how good she thought Simon looked, but she got scared and Simon left to go talk to the ice skater before she could muster up the courage. She watched as Simon seemingly asked her about their outfit, and Grace internally facepalmed. Had she just said something, maybe they wouldn't be so nervous about it.

Winter eventually stopped spinning just as she noticed two others on the ice seemingly having difficulties. Her eyes widened and she went to make her way over, that was before she saw her good friend Simon Corbin helping them both and so she smiled continuing what she had been doing knowing Simon could handle that situation, after all, it was just a simple fall.

She went back to what she had been doing, this time doing a more intense trick before seeing her friend headed her way and so she spun into a quick stop as they got closer. "Hey Simon! I'm great, and you" Winter scanned the outfit her friend had been wearing and she smiled wide "mhm!" the change in Simons's emotion was noticed immediately by winter and she took their hands into her own with a soft expression, a genuinely happy one. "Simmy you look stunning, you shouldn't change this fits you so well!" she used the nickname hoping they wouldn't mind before beginning to skate backward, taking the Gryffindor student with her "cmon let's skate together, ill teach you some tricks and tips!!"
Winter saw the other who would still be staying on the grass beside the skates that were laid out to be used by any who would be willing to give an attempt, later on, winter would probably skate around and see if people needed any help or anything else but for now, she was going to spend some quality time to get to know more about her friend, she was going to show them her more vulnerable side and act like her true wonderful self, bubbly and excited, and she hadn't been scared to do so being it was just the two of them and even though they've only known each other for a small while winter did trust Simon.

Victoria ran quickly from her dormitory and came to the big lake. She realized that she was late when she saw a lot of people coming. Victoria turned her head to someone she knew; Faye.
Victoria and Faye had met in the hospital wing. She went to Victoria Faye. "Hi Faye! Do you know how to ice skate?" Victoria asked with a calm smile. She put on her ice skates and stepped into the great lake. Her eyes widened when she saw Victoria Winter's gesture. "Oh my God Winter! You could have fallen!" Victoria did not find it right to act like this without warming up.
Victoria smiled at Winter. "You're skating very well." Victoria yelled at Simon too. "C'MON YOU CAN DO IT!"Back to Victoria Winter, "Hasn't Lily arrived yet?" Victoria then saw a girl from Ravenclaw. " Hello,I remember it was Grace?" Victoria asked with a smile. Seeing another blonde-haired girl, she approached her. "Hello, I'm Victoria! What's your name?" Victoria asked curiously.
Victoria walked across the big lake and saw a shy looking Gryffindor girl. She looked like she had fallen on the ice. She calmly approached her. "Hi, I'm Victoria! What's your name? I think you fell, but you know what, I broke my nose in my light skating experience!" Victoria smiled at the girl.

Flying on Ice
Appearance:ReducioYoussuf ran down from his dormitory, not even pausing to put on the coat he held in his hand. He had a subconscious (well, now conscious) fear that somehow this was a hoax. He'd never really ice-skated before (if you discounted the cold and instantly regretted attempt to skate on the Dal Lake in Kashmir, which failed spectacularly), and he wasn't entirely sure he wanted to do it. But a rather large number of his friends would be there, and the possibility of making new friends was always one Youssuf had relished.
Youssuf slid on the jacket he was holding and rolled his neck around once. Looking down, he observed his appearance. He looked rather snappy, even if he did think so himself. He'd chosen a simple white shirt, with a navy jacket and black trousers. It'd be a bit cold, but he had his muffler. He'd manage. And the jacket was surprisingly warm - fleece-lined on the inside.
He reached the edge of the lake and peered at its surface. Looked solid enough. Then he glanced around. Winter seemed to be enjoying herself, and a couple of Ravenclaws were staring at her (rather fixedly too; it looked weird). Simon and a couple others (a boy and a girl) were chatting, until Simon broke away to talk to Winter. Vicky, with her usual friendliness, was chatting to everyone she could see.
He got a pair of skates from the bag Winter had left, and laced them up tight. Youssuf took a deep breath and stepped onto the ice. And promptly slipped and sat down on the ice hard, cursing loudly and incoherently. Then again, another dude had fallen not too far away, so he looked good enough in comparison. Hell!
Youssuf dusted himself off and skated slowly, but steadily, over to Winter.
"Heyo, Winter. Nice day. I couldn't decide on an outfit, so I went simple. Classic. You seem to be skating well."
He grinned towards Simon too. Simon was a good chap. Smart enough to ally with him, at least.
Youssuf waved to the others. "HOY! COME AND JOIN US OVER HERE!" He had a voice like a foghorn, built from long practice of yelling at his sisters. It was a rather useful talent. Being built like a whip, Youssuf didn't think he should have much trouble learning how to ice-skate.
