Alan almost believed that the time since the last duel had passed way too fast, but then again it had been a couple months in reality. His own duel had lasted a whole lot of time, so perhaps he was simply still weary. However he was also quite excited as he walked up to the piste, behind a small podium for the moderator as he waited for his duellists to arrive. He didn't really know anyone of the duellists well, except for the bit he had seen of them during the last stage. Except for Frost Cira, who he remembered from classes and a summer in which they had met during his first year. But now he was there to moderate them instead.
Tiger was of course with him, the boy always kept the feline close whenever he could, even going as far as sneaking him into high class pureblood parties. "Welcome!" he announced once both of the pairs had settled at opposite sides of the stage, each next to their partner. "I hope you are as excited as I am about the fact that we know have a timer for our duels, you know the rules, so without a lot of carry on, please let the duel commence!" Alan was far too curious to hold a long speech or something like that. He wanted to see how the different teams thought out their strategies and who would have a grand opening. It would be interesting to see, whether one of the teams would get ahead within the first round. He was somewhat counting on Frost, knowing she would be the one with the most experience. But he also was aware of Ravenclaw's captain and knowing her, he knew that the team must have a good lead. She was witty, so perhaps she was equally good at strategy. and teaching her duellists.

Hufflepuff vs Ravenclaw: Match 4

Atlas was still trying to accept the fact that she was part of the Hufflepuff duelling team when the second stage of the championship began. She had spent the night before going over and memorizing rules, spells, and wand movements until it was pitch black outside and was extremely grateful that her duel began at 12:30 rather than 10:30. Not that the nervous feeling in her stomach let her sleep. She had woken up early, earlier than she did even on weekdays, and she prayed the lack of sleep wouldn’t affect her ability to cast a spell. Still, she was happy to have some extra time in the morning to gather her thoughts and prepare.
From what Atlas knew of the people on the Hufflepuff duelling team she certainly wasn’t someone’s top choice when it came to partners and was both grateful and guilty when she found out the captains made the pairs. Grateful that she didn't have to go through the experience of not being chosen by anyone but guilty since the person that got stuck with her may have wanted to be with someone else. Atlas knew very little about her partner, Frost, she just knew that Frost was a prefect and a fifth-year which meant she had more experience with magic than most people in the school, it also meant she was good. It meant she was much better than Atlas and the younger Hufflepuff couldn't help but think that she would probably let the older girl down.
Despite this, as Atlas stood there in the huge room that was the Duelling Club and looked up at the floating candles above her, she couldn’t help but smile. Yes, she was nervous. Extremely nervous. But there was nothing she could do about her inexperience now other than try her best and get better before the next stage. The room, in addition to being one literally filled with magic, felt magical, and as the girl, still looking up, took a deep breath and clutched her wand, stabilizing her shaking hands, she began to feel excited. This was her first-ever duel. She would get to use the magic she'd acquired over the past year and a half, and maybe, just maybe, they would win. The chilly feel of the day also stabilized her, the air filling her lungs to their capacity as she took another breath and looked down at the stairs that led up to the piste she along with her partner would be duelling on.
Taking slow steps she walked onto the piste, smiling kindly at her opponents before turning her attention to the moderator as he spoke. She didn’t recognize him, nor did she know her opponents which meant she couldn't try to predict what they would do.
Finally, she looked at her partner, smiling wider than she did at the others. "Good luck," Atlas whispered to the girl next to her. Something about just standing next to Frost made Atlas feel better, calmer, stabilized her even more. Atlas didn't know how this duel was going to go or how long she would remain conscious—didn’t even want to think about it. What the Hufflepuff did know for certain, as she arranged her body into a duelling stance and readied her wand, was that she was going to give this match everything she had.Action: Owled

Hufflepuff vs Ravenclaw: Match 4
Interacting with @Callie Jensen, @Frost Cira, @Atlas Rey, and @Alan Vanes
Robert stumbled out onto the piste, rubbing sleep from his eyes. The night before he'd fallen down a deep rabbit hole attempting to use quantum mechanics to explain how wizards are able to summon enough energy to fundamentally rearrange the building blocks of the universe with relative ease. Oddly enough, the thirteen year old did not make much progess. It had made for a quite pleasant evening, night, early morning, and dawn, but unfortunately did not give him much chance for sleep.
Robert winced as he gently massaged his lower back, still sore from being crouched over a desk for such an extended period of time. "Hey, Callie!" he greeted his teammate, attempting to mask his discomfort with a cheery wave before peering at his opposition. He remembered Frost from their previous duel together, but Atlas was new to him. Robert gave his fellow second-year a quick once over, processing data slightly less efficiently than his normal. Taking a deep breath, he went through his normal pre-duel routine. "Good luck guys!" he addressed the Hufflepuffs with a tired grin. The expression too draining to hold, even if he did truly believe in the sentiment, the smile slipped off his face as soon as he turned to face his partner. "We got this."

OOC: For those wondering, I rolled a nat 1 on how Robert was feeling at the start of the duel, which is the reason for his dismal situation. This will not effect any actual actions, just serves as some extra flavor.

Hufflepuff vs Ravenclaw: Match 4
Time seemed to be moving so quickly! These days everything seemed to merge into one strange mess. As such Callie couldn’t quite believe that the time had come for the duelling tournament to take over her life again, this time with a new partner by her side. She hadn’t duelled alongside Robert before but that didn’t curb her enthusiasm at all. Callie watched every single one of the Ravenclaw duels when she could and she had a near unbreakable trust when it came to her team mates.
“We’ve got this, Robert!” Callie confirmed with a wide grin on her face all whilst shifting from side to side. Curse this girls inability to stay still.

The fifth year would keep an eye on the duellists as he was watching them get ready. He felt like Frost must have missed the start of the duel, because she had not cast any spell or done anything that showed she had paid attention. It would not turn out much better for Atlas Rey either, the girl would attempt to cast a curse of the bogies but her wand merely spit out a few sparks but the spell never actually went off. Luckier however seemed to be the other team, the eagles that Alan had once before underestimated and it had cost him the win of his last stage. The Gryffindor shook his head, curiously watching as Robert would attempt a knockback jinx that however missed its target by a meter and instead hit the piste, exploding into sparks that quickly dimmed. Callie however, would summon the fire spell and not just the light one, no the advanced one! Alan was still not entirely happy with the spell but at least he understood that it wasn't just pure evil. Though he was tempted to rethink the statement as he saw how the conjured flame latched onto Atlas, burning her bad.

Hufflepuff vs Ravenclaw: Match 4
Interacting with @Callie Jensen, @Frost Cira, @Atlas Rey, and @Alan Vanes
From Robert's perspective at least, Callie seemed to be the only person on the piste who was actually awake. He missed his own spell, most likely due to a large yawn in the middle of aiming, Atlas's curse sputtered out at wandpoint, and Frost had elected to forgo casting altogether. Luckily, his teammate's aim had been perfect, the only bright hehe fire spot to this duel's start. "Nice one, Callie!" Robert exclaimed, giving his head a small but fierce shake in an attempt to wake himself up. In the back of his mind, he wondered why his normal dueling adrenaline hadn't kicked in yet. Thankfully, this new train of thought led to the idea that maybe something was wrong with him, lending the young boy some nervous feelings that might blossom into energy. At least it was a start.

Hufflepuff vs Ravenclaw: Match 4
After past duelling escapades and a legacy of bad luck it was truly a miracle Callie managed to land that spell. It shocked even her, who let out a rather loud gasp as she witnessed things played out. It wasn’t until she heard Robert that the girl found herself pulled right back to earth.
“Alright! Let’s GOO.” There wasn’t time to dwell, this was a duel! She had to stay focused if she didn’t want to repeat past failures. At least there was a low risk of being kebabed by a spider here. Or flung violently into the air.

Hufflepuff vs Ravenclaw: Match 4

It would have been less disheartening if she had just missed her target since the Curse of the Bogies was something taught to first years. Instead, the Hufflepuff hadn’t even been able to cast the spell. Had she gotten the wand movement wrong? Atlas was sure that she was supposed to move her wand in the shape of a water droplet—she had practiced this exact movement the night before and was certain she had done it perfectly. Be that as it may, all her wand decided to release was a few tiny sparks.
The Ravenclaw team, however, was successful in casting one of their spells and as Atlas caught on to the fact that the spell, one that set people on fire, was directed at her, she panicked. Her teeth jammed together to keep herself from letting out a scream as the green flame hit her. Her hands, once again, struggled to keep holding her wand as her eyes followed the flame burning her skin. The hand that wasn’t holding her wand formed a fist—nails digging into her flesh in an attempt to distract herself from the pain of the burn. Atlas looked at her partner, knowing that there was probably nothing Frost could do to take away the pain but hoping the calm she felt when she last looked at the Prefect would return and make the pain more bearable.
