Lucien shook his head quickly waking him up from his small daze he had fell into. "Myopia right! Uh its not done yet but should be finished sometime soon. I'm not going to lie, I practically just fell asleep and I have no clue what's happened. Also I heard dinner?" Lucien said with a head tilt as usual. He was rather hungry, and tired apparently. Although he did hear the mention of lunch with people. He was unsure about sitting with his sister. He had been trying to distance himself from her due to how jumpy she had been lately. Aravis's sarcasm and sass was almost to much for him to handle while he was working on school papers and potions. He also wasn't a big people person so he was unsure about sitting so close to others. He usually just ate when most people had already left. "I, uh...I'm not sure. I'm not big on eating with people." He said to Maeve with a wince. "Anyway...if you guys go to the rehearsal room I might come as well. I really need to practice my cello for Orchestra." He said with a rather dry tone. He didn't like practicing much but it still needed to get done.

"Anyway...if you guys go to the rehearsal room I might come as well. I really need to practice my cello for Orchestra."
Lucien said this in a rather dry tone and Mia stifled a laugh.
"I play the cello too! We can all tune together! I also play the violin, flute, piano, and guitar, and I need to practice, so that would be great."
Mia said, in a rather exited tone. She did love the arts, really all aspects, except for dance, as she was clumsy. She had been playing the piano for the longest, since she was just three, and had been playing the violin and flute since she was five. When she was seven she learned to play cello, and then soon after she picked up guitar. Mia had always had an affinity for the arts.
She shook her head. Stop dreaming. Listen. she thought, putting a strand of hair behind her head.
"And Lucien? I'm not big on eating with so many others, I usually just eat by myself, in the dorm, but we all have to get out of our comfort zones. Live a little."
Mia smiled at Lucien and continued to talk.
"Though if you really want to eat alone, or with just a few people, I'm not going to stop you."

"I only play the piano. Benjamin plays the cello, though. My siblings and I have a quar-quartet every gathering. Me on piano, Alexander on flute, Benjamin on cello, and Dahlia sings. My mother writes the songs for us. Last year she wro-wrote a super long one for Dahlia and Benjamin's birthday. It was exhau-exhausting to play!" Maeve laughed breathlessly.
"You don't have to sit with us if you don't want to." Maeve assured the two. "I didn't really want to sit with them either, but they roped me in when they started talking about mag-magical creatures. No offe-offense, Lu, but your sister can be a bit snappy at times. She seemed like she was going to bite my head off when I snap-snapped at a boy for butting into our conve-conversation." She laughed softly.
"Yes, we can all go. I know all of one muggle song, cour-courtesy of my sister. I have all the other music I know mem-memorized, though. My parents don't allow me to carry around a big folder of all of my scores." She smiled slightly. "Too clunky and unpro-unprofessional, in their opinion. I like the absence of the folder, but sometimes it's weird, seeing other pla-players with their music, and I have nothing to carry. What am I supposed to do with my hands?" She laughed again.

Maeve laughed and Mia smiled. She was beginning to like Maeve, much to her delight.
"Trust me, you're not missing out."
Mia laughed wryly, glancing towards her overstuffed bag.
"My cello teacher makes me keep every single sheet of music in a folder, and so do my otherteachers, but they're not as strict about it, so I have 5 folders in my bag when I need to go to music lessons. It gets quite boring, but it is my only exersize so..."
Mia trailed off, looking up and smiling.
"Surely you, Lucien, know what I'm talking about. Not all of us can be as perfect as Maeve."
Mia smiled and looked at the blonde girl, rolling her eyes.
"You keep saying that you're not as smart as your siblings well," Mia rolled here eyes, "thats what I have to say to that. You seem perfect in every way!"
Mia smiled. She liked that about Maeve, she really did. She wasn't being bitter. Mia craved perfection in every way, but always fell short. Like how they said that she was a great fit for Writer, but so were the other candidates. And how she had an E average. And how she was almost heir to the entire Alexander line, but she cared too much about Rachel. Great, but not perfect. Almost there.

Maeve blushed. "No, def-definitely not perfect. My parents don't like me around, r'member?" She murmured softly. "It's just cert-certain things I grew up doing. Habits, I suppose. I can't wait to hear you guys' playing."
She glanced at the clock. Lucien was right, class was starting to wrap up. "Are you good at all the inst-instrume-instruments you play? Which one is your best? Like, the one you play better than all of them. And your worst? Benjamin tried to play the clar-clarinet once, but he scared Glaedr, my kneazle, half to death, so mum made him quit. Glaedr is okay with the other inst- oh, you know what I'm talking about." She huffed. Big words would be the death of her.
"Oh, of course we get ho-homework!" Maeve groaned. "This quill better have taken good notes, or I'm going to kill Alexander!" She declared softly. She meant it, too. He had been lying to her left and right about Hogwarts. If he caused her to fail her classes, she would owl their parents, and he would be as good as dead. Literally.
With her family being Ravenclaws, they cared about learning more than almost anything. Dahlia and Benjamin were competing against each other for the best in their year, and they were pretty terrifying when they really started arguing, which was a lot. Maeve often wondered how they could stand to be around one another at all. It was all rather strange.

"This quill better have taken good notes, or I'm going to kill Alexander!"
Mia smiled.
"Don't worry. The teacher is practically reading from the wizarding Encyclopedia. Here."
Leaning down, Mia grabbed the thick book in her bag. She pulled it out and handed it to Maeve.
"There it is! I bought one with a few charms cast on it, so it's lighter, smaller, and holds more information. Oh! It can also talk to you."
Mia smiled at looked at Maeve and Lucien.
"It's amazing isn't it! A true wonder of the wizarding world. I know you might not appreciate it as much as a muggle-born would, but it's still pretty cool."
She bent down to retrieve another copy for Lucien, her fingers brushing against his while she went down. She grabbed the small but thick book and gave it to Lucien.
"First Edition. Not as good but this stuff is basic, so it'll have similar information. They didn't really update it, the basic stuff, as they went on."
Mia smiled at the two, hoping that they'd like the help.
"There's also an edition in the Library, but it's old and musty, and you have to ask the Librarian if you can use it because it's a big deal or something."
Mia rolled her eyes and continued talking, pushing her hair out of her face as she did.
"Yep. That's it. Hope it helps!"
Mia smiled.

Maeve smiled. "Thanks! I have the same book, but I left it in my room." She accepted the book gratefully and flipped to the page the teacher was reading from. She skimmed over the pages and made sure her notes were matching. The quill worked perfectly.
"Alexander's lucky. This wo-works." Maeve said happily. Suddenly her smile fell from her face. "Oh no! I forgot to write to my parents about my house and Hogwarts and eve-everything. They're going to kill me." She muttered dejectedly.
"Well, I have to take a quick det-detour to the owlery before I go to the rehe-rehearsal room. But, I will meet you guys there. I just really have to send this. My parents are strict about weird things. Like let-letters." She murmured.
Maeve pulled out a spare piece of parchment and began to hastily write.
Dear Mother and Father,
I am enjoying my time at Hogwarts.
I made Slytherin! I was made loads of new friends already, and I hope to continue making them.
I miss you terribly. Sorry for not writing last night, I was very tired.
Love you,
Maeve
Maeve finished the letter and folded it. "There! That'll have to do for them. I'm not going to put too much ef-effort into it." She murmured.

"There! That'll have to do for them. I'm not going to put too much ef-effort into it."
Mia laughed, a small breathy laugh.
"When I first came here, on the second day, I wrote them a few pages. They were shocked. I guess Hogwarts, or all boarding schools in fact, have opposite effects on their students...."
Mia trailed off, thinking about her letter. She had, when she first came, written three letters, one to Mum and Dad, who she didn't miss terribly, but they were her parents after all. One to Maye, who then said that Rachel should have died already, she didn't send any letters after that, and one to Nagymama, who she did miss, even though she had to whip out her Hungarian for that, and it was rough, especially when she was writing. Overall, she didn't regret writing so much, it made her more informed, and in a better state of mind. Even though almost everyone on her dad's side were jerks.
Mia felt bad for Maeve. She obviously felt that her parents didn't deserve a good, thoughtful letter. Plus, she generally talked of her family in a negative way, how they disapproved and such. Mia knew it was the case with most pure-blood families, but Mia could stand hers. Maeve could too. Alexander seemed nice though, whoever he was. Maybe her brother? Mia didn't know.
"We can all stop by the owlery. I should look if I received any letters from Mum or Dad."
Mia knew there was no chance, or a very slim one, but there was no harm in checking. Plus, going to the owlery alone? That sucked. People were crying up there and getting all mushy while reading their letters. If Mia was going to cry, she would just go to the girl's bathroom. There, no one felt obligated to comfort her the way you had to when you walked into the owlery and someone was crying. That had happened to Micheal, and he warned her about it. Luckily. Mia was not a talented person at making people feel better. The best she could do was to awkwardly pat someone's shoulder.
Mia laughed, a small breathy laugh.

"Great." Maeve said greatfully. "Did I tell you about my sib-siblings? You looked a bit confused when I mentioned Alexander."
"If not, here they are. Dahlia and Benjamin are the ol-oldest. They're in fourth year. Ravenclaw, like most Turners. Alexander is in his second year. He's basi-basically my best friend. Benjamin is alright. Dahlia is a living, breathing, ni-night-nightmare. She can be terrifying when she really gets going." Maeve laughed. "But she can be nice, too."
Maeve glanced at her quill, which was writing quickly. Somehow, it was writing in her exact handwriting. Maybe it had picked it up when she was writing with it by hand? Maeve wasn't sure, and at this moment, she didn't really care. It was a nice tool to get through class without a hand cramp.
"Did you write to your Aunt and Uncle when you came, Lu?" Maeve asked curiously. "I think al-almost everyone does. Alexanders said that his friend got a how-howler when he forgot to write to his parents last year. App-appare-apparently it was all everyone talked about for some time." She shivered. "If I ever get a how-howler, I'd be so embarrassed." She said softly. "Insults and such, all for everyone to hear... Ugh..."

Olympia walks into class, clutching her wand, unsure whether she's supposed to have it out yet or not. Hopefully she wouln't embarrass herself. There could be absolutely nothing worse than that. She'd only been here for a short while; it would be a shame to have to stay in her dorm the entire stay. But she planned on making friends here. That was her goal.
There were chairs lined up along the edges of the room, which confused Olympia. She was unsure whether she was supposed to sit or stand, so she stood, awaiting instruction. While waiting, she took in the look of the classroom itself.
The lighting was somewhat dim, but how she would normally have it if she were in her bedroom at home with her family. There were many kids in class already, which made Olympia worry whether or not she'd been late for class. 'No, you weren't late. In fact, you were probably early, and these are a bunch of first years, like you. You're fine.' As Olympia was mentally reassuring herself, a few more kids walked into class. She payed little attention to them, though, and instead continued her study of the class.
