Galton made his way into the dueling club. It was time for his second service as judge and jury for this season of duels. And he was excited. Stuffed with a full belly from his last meal he picked at the last few bites of the muffin he still carried with him. Never good to be hungry when one needed there wits about them. And with who Galton would be moderating for, he would need it. The Badgers and Ravens would clash in a mighty way!
Just as the last bite of his muffin would clash with the contents of his stomach. His arm shot to his stomach, hand gripping the belly of his robe as he arched over in pain. All the food in him was mixing together violently - just like the duelists would be doing in mere moments. Squinting through the pain he looked over the duelists. Who would stand victorious?
Would it be Hufflepuff? The second and third year duo seemed fearsome enough, Galton knew Willow from both the previous stage, and a previous duel. With the time that had passed, and rumors he'd heard from the last stage, she'd grown a lot as a caster. Her partner, Callista, left Galton to wonder. He did not know the duelist, which was exciting. He would have the front row seat to learn; the strategies she employed would be a mystery, he'd never know what to expect!
Similarly, he had no idea what to expect from the duo on the other side of the stage. Would the Ravenclaws prove victorious? Cade and Delilah, were also rather unknown to Galton. The one thing Galton knew as a concrete fact was that Delilah was a fifth year. Two who years on Willow, the second eldest year duelist. That was a heavy advantage from the start. Experience was an excellent tutor... And the extra two years of spell lessons. Those help too.
The pain had morphed into nausea. A foul alchemist reaction had chosen to call Galton's stomach home. His free hand shot to his mouth to hold a gag back. How dare his body betray him like this! This was no look for someone of his stature. Short stubby legs carried him to one of the waste bins by the stands. Galton made a quick deposit in it, expelling the cursed concoction he had used his belly to brew. They're going to think I was nervous. Pah! Me! The thought of such almost led to a second deposit. He needed his composer back quickly. His hands searched for the tools necessary in his pockets to make such a thing happen. A napkin, juice-box, and sherbet lemon would do the trick.
He returned to the stage head held high. The second his foot made it onto the soon-to-be battlefield his voice would shoot out to the duelists. "WELCOME DUELISTS!" He paused to let the noise die down before continuing. "Please take your places at either end of the stage! I will not tolerate any nonsense from either team, you know the rules and I expect you to abide by them." He nodded to either side and took his place.
"Remember to use your limited time wisely, duelists!" Hopefully they all remembered the duel was now timed, and that they did not have all day to whittle each other away. Galton began shouting once more: "CALLISTA! WILLOW! CADE! DELILAH! Best of luck!" It was time to watch spells fly. "Ready... Set... SPELL!"

Ah yes, another season of duels.
Willow felt absolutely sick. She hadn't won a duel since the beginning of last year and she was really itching for a win. The Slytherins had absolutely destroyed Hufflepuff, and the Ravenclaw's had gotten second place. The odds stacked up against Hufflepuff, against Willow and Callie, were ridiculous. Nevertheless, she stood confidently despite the atrocious week she was having. The duelling piste was her place to be, it felt natural for her. She would stare down at the Eagles and end up on top this round alongside her partner, Callista. She nudged Callista with her shoulder on her way in, a bright smile towards her partner. "We're gonna do great."
As she took her place on the piste her wand was ready, her brows were furrowed, her stomach queasy, she would... do her best.

@callista lovis | @willow anderson | @delilah stewartCade watched Phaedra and Sam's duel with a knot in his stomach. Despite his excitement to stand upon the stage and meet his own Hufflepuff challengers, there still remained the uncontainable nerves of getting up in front of the school and doing his best to remain standing. Over the past year, Cade had certainly grown he'd mastered some spells, won a few dues, and fell victim to others. Every loss hurt more than the last. But after several odd evenings spent in the hospital wing, Cade felt more determined than ever. He was confident this time that he could certainly hold his own.
The Ravenclaw was stirred from his musings when a peculiar student made his way to the dais, but not before relieving his stomach in a waste bin. And Cade's brows knit together mildly disturbed. Apparently, this Gryffindor was to be their moderator. And Cade wondered why he never crossed paths with him before. Either way, Cade made his way up with his dueling partner. This time he was pleased to have an experienced duellist by his side. He had always admired Delilah's ability from afar. She made something of a powerful witch and Cade was excited to work alongside her.
"Ready, Del?" The young wizard nodded to her before pulling out his walnut wood wand and facing their Hufflepuff opponents. Two girls, one he didn't know at all and the other... was that Willow Anderson? Cade was well acquainted with her. And he remembered fondly their short game of Gobstones last year. As much as he wanted to wave with a cheery 'Oi, Willow!' Cade recalled that he shouldn't get too distracted. He learned his lesson from the last stage... Friends wouldn't go easy on you.

A 2nd year called Cade, of course she knew about him, they were both on the team, but she had never really spoken to him. This was going to be exciting.
Turning to him when he spoke, she grinned. "Born ready." It was quite dramatic but oh well.

With the new duelling season came another bundle of nerves. After spending countless hours dedicated to studying and analysing, it was finally time to see if it would pay off. Most duellists had at least a win or two under their belt, but Callista had been in only two duels, both of which she had decisively lost. She was usually calm, but the crushing weight of defeat still lingered on her back. This time, she was carrying another emotional burden.
Don't let Willow down, don't let Willow down, don't think about Annie, don't let Willow down, must not fail, must not fail...
The booming voice of the moderator cut through her thoughts, and Callista shrank from the din of the crowd. It took a great deal of effort to rise from her seat, ascend the platform, and not run away from everything... again. She could only muster up a smile at Willow's encouragement, far too queasy to attempt anything more. She couldn't even meet the eyes of her opponents. Don't let Willow down... not that I'm good enough to make much of an impact, but don't let her down... She couldn't bear the thought of disappointment filling Willow's eyes because of her.
Failing once, failing twice, that hurt. But failing three times? No one wants to see what it will do to Callista if that happens.

Both teams had similar ideas in mind as they came into this duel it seemed. Galton couldn't blame them, they had chosen solid spells for their openers. Galton was a big fan of the spell that both teams would cast.
Callista and Delilah would send Obscuros at each other, with Delilah sending a split blindfold towards Willow. There was something so elegant about watching ribbons soar across the stage. The pieces of cloth hell bent on blinding their targets seemed so stylish as they flew. And both would succeed in blinding the other. Rather funny really, it was almost as if they had made a critical mistake when casting. Or, it would have been, had Willow not been caught in the crossfire crossblinding. The Badger was so caught up in a dodge attempt that the blindfold had become an eye patch. Tied diagonal around her face Willow looked a little like a pirate. Galton had to keep a chuckle inside at the thought of having a pirate duelist on stage.
The now pirate, Willow, had a spell of her own. It seemed that she also knew the fancy splitting trick, and had chosen to shoot an Expelliarmus at the other side. Depriving them of the ability to cast or see was a devious plan. Hypothetically, that is. Try as she might, she hit neither Cade or Delilah. As close as she got to Cade with near perfect aim, the lad was just that much quicker. His movement was beautiful, as if a seasoned ballet dancer had taken the stage (Or maybe Cade was a seasoned ballet dancer, Galton had no idea).
In return, Cade had his own spell for Willow. A classic flipendo. With the time limit now in place, it was a good move. Score some early damage on the opponent before it was too late. Again, hypothetically, that is. The flipendo would sadly whiz by Willow. It got close, about as close as Willow's magic had gotten to Cade, but neither displayed such refined aim or dodge. Clumsy compared to the ballet Willow and Cade had danced moments earlier. But who can blame the youth for bad dance moves?
Five of eight eyes were bound in darkness. None of them belonging to Darkbound, either. Would the duelists next move lead them into the light?

Right before the duel started, she heard her brother call out and wish her luck. She quickly searched for him in the crowd before giving him a beaming smile and a thumbs up. The only time in the week she had seemed like normal.
What a way to start. Apparently the two teams had similar prerogatives, Delilah attempting to blindfold them as Willow did. Willow was only partially blindfolded, leaving a bit of sight to see that she had completely missed Cade but was successful in hitting Delilah. Willow scrunched up her nose as she also still had her wand in her hand, meaning Callista was unsuccessful as well. It was just kind of a moot round.

She smiled as the spell hit both of her targets, although she couldnt see the full extent, as within a second or two. She got smacked in the face also. She sighed as she realised it had happened once again, the spell that she had sent, was also sent by Callista.

@callista lovis | @willow anderson | @delilah stewart"Flipendo!" Cade flicked his wand towards Willow. Unfortunately, his timing was too early. Delilah's ribbons had hit their marks but Willow had seen Cade's attack before she became blindfolded. Cade managed to dance out of the way of the offending disarming charm. His knuckles went white clasping his wand just in case the spell had managed to hit him. But thankfully he had avoided it. Glancing at Delilah, he notice she'd been blindfolded too. And Cade would chuckle at the absurdity of the opening moves. What were the chances that both sides had similar plans? The Ravenclaw wizard was still a bit vexed that he hadn't managed to make a clean hit on Willow. And he leveled his wand again, preparing for the next round.

Twitchy with nerves, Callista whirled at someone calling out from the crowd. She couldn't pinpoint who had spoken, but Willow knew, and seeing her smile set Callista at ease. She calmed her racing heart, resisting the weird urge to shuffle closer to Willow. That would be really embarrassing.
The first move was obvious. "Obscuro!" Well, perhaps too obvious. She could just make out her blindfold wrapping snugly around her target before blackness overtook her again. She wasn't knocked out, she just felt the light tickle of cloth. Callista wasn't sure whether Willow had succeeded, but she couldn't hear anything other than her own breath and the lingering voices of the other duellists, so maybe Willow had missed.
Callista grit her teeth, but still, a warm feeling rested in her chest. Perhaps it was the aftereffect of successfully casting a new spell that she had been honing and perfecting for the past few months. Perhaps it was the satisfaction of aiming true. Either way, things were looking up for her despite the undesirable situation they were in.
