Before Hogwarts
(wip)

Vincent Eastender is a young boy born on the 23rd of October to Anthony Eastender and Christine Lee in the village Bourton-on-the-Water, in Gloucestershire, England.

His father,Anthony, is a pureblood wizard from the Eastender family, a noble family known for their scholars and brilliant minds. However, his father who was once a Cursebreaker has suffered a rather difficult and nasty curse while working in China and as a result, has not only lost his magic, his health but also his mobility. Combined with the trauma and loss of his magic, Anthony did not have much time to heal when his wife lost her battle against terminal illness only several months later, leaving him and a five-year old Vincent alone.

Since then, Anthony has isolated himself from the magical world-going as far as to ask his friends to put up wards to repel owls; he was far too ashamed and bitter to even look at magic when his own is ripped away from him mercilessly. This is the reason why Vincent tend to look at things from a non-magical perspective despite being raised by a pureblood father; he has grew up in a non-magical environment, not to mention he rarely interacts with the magical part of his family.

Unfortunately, due to his shy and introverted nature ("Did you know that Vincent doesn't have a mother?" "Ooh...weird..." "And his father is so creepy! Creepy red eyes, like a vampire!" "Ewww! Noo-!"), he has spent most of his childhood delving into the fantastical world of books instead of playing tag with any of his classmates from school, which had unfortunately led to him being the 'loner' of the class and the 'boring' or 'weird' one despite his teacher's attempt to get him to socialize more with the others.

After several years of being rejected from 'play groups' and the kids at the playground had led to him feeling ridiculously self-conscious about himself and causing him to retreat further into his only passion, books. However, this has caused him to find it very difficult to properly express himself to others-and his father is honestly no help in that department; which had led to frequent bouts of accidental magic from his repressed emotions and emotional turmoil that range from mildly annoying to destructive.

Those are often dealt with by his father swiftly (with the help of magical acquaintances) and without drawing too much attention onto them-well, he tries not to anyways. But each time it happened, it only made Vincent far more self-conscious about his lack of control over his magic-despite it being perfectly normal- and the 'disappointed' expression on his father's face only seemed to make the situation worse for him.

(Though, neither of them were particularly good at communicating with each other and as a self-conscious child, it is no surprise how Vincent thought that his father is disappointed or displeased with him when in reality his father really doesn't have much expression to switch between.)

A childhood without much interaction with his peers has led to Vincent finding solace with his pet dog, Cyrus instead.

Long story short, it wasn't long before Vincent found a letter addressed to him from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Something his father had expected that since the first sign of magic in his child, and has reacted calmly and only proceeded to bring Vincent to shop for his supplies and send him off with little fanfare.

Relationships

Family:-

//Anthony Eastender//Father//Ravenclaw//Former Cursebreaker//Editor//

The relationship between Vincent and his father is confusing at best; while Anthony is a relatively collected man with few, if any words, Vincent simply took after her mother more, being an empathetic and emotional person despite being severely socially stunted and ridiculously low self-esteem. Vincent simultaneously fears, respects, loves and worries for his father, enjoying his company and holding his praise in high regard while being deathly afraid of his disappointment. However, this is all in Vincent's head as Anthony has never hinted towards any of that; he loves his son dearly however Anthony is too emotionally awkward, apathetic and too caught up in his own bitterness to see the consequence of his inaction.

//Christine Eastender (née Lee)//Mother//Hufflepuff//Healer//Deceased//

Vincent's mother, Christine was a Healer at St Mungo's Hospital before she died of terminal illness at the young age of 32; an odd combination of the exposure to the wrong sort of magic and stress caused her illness to take root and spread at an alarming rate. This however, led to Vincent being not only incredibly depressed for quite some time, feeling discouraged and self-conscious over not having a mother before he removed himself from the group causing him to become incredibly shy and soft-spoken despite his best efforts.

//Cyrus//Dog//12 years old//

Cyrus, an English Shepherd with the 'most beautiful blue eyes', originally belonged to Anthony however due to the fact that the man can no longer walk properly, let alone go several minutes without coughing his lungs out at least four times; the responsibility of taking care of the dog fell onto Vincent. The boy gladly took it up, and tend to spend most of his time with the dog.

Neighbour-

//Mr Rogen//Neighbour//Squib//

-Mr Rogen is a Squib who has settled in the same town as the Eastenders, and is the self-proclaimed guardian of Vincent and a sympathetic friend to Anthony. He often comes by to help the other man out with his daily life and takes care of Cyrus while Vincent is away.

Friends-

//Lucy O'Sullivan//First Year Hufflepuff (in progress)

-They had first met on the grounds of Hogwarts; Vincent was simply looking for a shady spot to read his book when he stumbled upon Lucy proclaiming to herself that she will be the 'best witch in her house'. A brief interaction later, and several attempts at casting Lumos and Nox and attempting to sweet-talk a wand led to what might be the beginning of a friendship.
