This was unfortunate. Cody and Pericles both opted for Flipendo, Logan chose Metelojinx, and Thomas repeated Ventus from the first round. Not a single spell hit. Cody's spell seemed to fizzle and didn't even leave the wand. It seemed that everyone was more focused on avoiding attacks than actually landing spells of their own.

"Small tip, do consider aiming for your opponents rather than whatever it is you're aiming for now," Ana offered drily. Prehaps she wasn't a duellist herself, but that did seem to be rather obvious that targeting was a good place to start.

As Pericles stepped forward and thrust out his wand, the fire finally sizzled out with a whip of his robes. That was some small relief, but the way spells missed all around incited a short huff. "Flipendo" had just missed its mark, with Logan leaping out of the way just in time. Eyebrows furrowed at Ana's words. Rather than take offense, he seemed to agree he needed to focus, steady his aim. Things were just starting off, but he wasn't interested in dragging this duel out either.

[font=century gothic]Cody had a... love hate relationship with spells, and he worked better with Potions, and that seemed to prove his point when he was casting Flipendo at Thomas Baines. Now, would the spell have worked? No. It freaking fizzled. Oh what did the boy do wrong this time? He looked at Logan in apology, then faced forward. His confidence slightly waning. [/font]

Logan watched as her spell completely missed while also dodging a spell from both Pericles and Thomas. She glanced over enough to see that Cody's spell had also missed. She listened carefully to what was happening around her and slightly glared at their announcer as she made the comment about aiming for their target.

"Hmmm, why did I not think of that?" She sarcastically muttered to herself as she glanced over one more time to make sure that Cody was doing okay. She may have been frustrated, but she was still going to make sure her teammate was okay, especially as she had grown rather fond of him and did not want to see him hurt.

Thomas rolled his eyes in an exaggerated expression of his annoyance as his spell missed. He watched the storm cloud take shape over head, before bracing himself to dodge—it proved to be unnecessary, in the end. "This feels like the last duel," complained the wizard, apparently he hadn’t done the accuracy drills he vowed to last time he was on a miss streak.

Action: Soon to be owled!

Evidently, Ana's commentary was spectacularly helpful. Every spell that round succeed. Cody filled the stage with smoking, making Ana have to squint to make out the going ons of the duel. Logan fired a Knockback Jinx at Pericles, and Ana could hear the impact if not quite see it. On the Ravenclaw side, they both selected Ventus, although their targets were different. Pericles selected the cloud that had assaulted him moments before, and sent it soaring over the Hufflepuff side of the stage. Thomas opted to target Logan, who would be impacted as her own attack left her wand. Prehaps out of loyalty, the cloud did not produce any attacks for the time being.

She caught a small look from one of the Hufflepuffs and it occurred to her that her helpful tip, though effective, was not perhaps the kindest. Pity...

"There we are," Ana mused encouragingly at the smashing success of spellwork around her.

When first that ominous cloud rolled out over the piste, Pericles paid it little more heed than a questioning glance. He hadn't seen this spell utilized in duelling yet, as he had some doubts about its effectiveness, but it was about to create a lasting impression. The jolt of lightning spidered down and struck. In an instant, it felt as if he was being pushed and pulled from many directions, jaw clenched, eyes wide, a vicious sting echoing throughout his body. It left him stunned, reeling in the aftermath as smoke obscured the stage. When the Knockback Jinx barreled through the murk, Pericles hardly had the faculties to dodge, instead issuing a pained grunt on impact. Oh, he was not going through that again. Shaky, recovering his breath, his wand jutted up as he uttered a tremulous "Ventus". It drifted away, now looming over the opposing team, and the boy breathed a little easier. As an afterthought, he annoyedly palmed at his hair, which was standing on-end in the fashion of a frazzled dandelion.

Action: As Strategized

[font=century gothic]"Fumos." Cody said, knowing that he was creating or causing smoke to billow out of his wand, watching it obscure everyone simotaniously. Maybe that was a mistake...

He looked around frantically for his Partner, Logan, but didn't see her very well. He decided to bring his wand back towards the Ravenclaw side. Even though there was the cloud that was on the Raven side, and is now on the Huffle side. [/font]

Action: Owled

Logan was not expecting her Weather Modifying Charm to actually do something, she had never actual cast in this environment, only ever practicing in class. She had not even thought about the lightning that may occur and flinched slightly as Pericles was struck, luckily she was able to get a Flipendo in and struck the boy.

Her happiness did not last long though, as Pericles seemed to not want to deal with the lightning and sent the storm cloud over the Hufflepuff team. She should have payed more attention to the duel rather than the storm cloud though, as she was hit with Ventus soon after.
