It seemed Marshal's position as 'bench-warmer' carried more importance now than ever, as each team's respective bench was bound to be rather cold. Perhaps it didn't quite fit the glorious image of aerodynamic feats he'd imagined for his first match with the shiny new Silver Arrow in his hand, but every role had its purpose, and he would embrace the prominence of his posterior today.
Besides, it meant that his precious broom may not have to see the violence of battle just yet. Since he'd gotten his hands on the sleek object, it had scarcely left his grip, let alone his sight. Like a protective parent guarding their first child, he'd held it, talked to it, bathed it, and smelled it. Perhaps he was a creepy parent, but at the very least he loved his baby- er, broom. Nope, definitely meant baby.

Clutching Edwin the Silver Arrow tightly, the boy had steeled himself to depart the locker room in favor of the frigid pitch, when a delicate hand found purchase on his shoulder.
Truly, he appreciated Evelynn's attempts to bolster his confidence in case he was thrust into action, but it wasn't as if she were helping him focus on the task at hand. In fact, brooms, quaffles and bludgers effectively departed his mind in that moment, replaced only by the gentle pressure upon his shoulder as the world around them faded into obscurity. As though in some alternate dimension that housed only the two of them, her words seemed to bounce off of non-existent walls and back to his ears, the vibrations of an angelic voice gamboling with the beat of his heart, which hadn't been quickened but for the rhythm of the dance.
The echoed comment was met with a scoff of his own. "If you go down, first I'll catch you," cross our fingers, "Then I'll mu…" -rder whoever knocked her off. Being that Eve was still largely unaware of just how barbaric he was willing to act in her defense, he thought better of the response, instead drawing the unfinished word out suspiciously before finishing, "make sure they get what's coming to them." An innocent smile followed the words.
The co-captain's next remarks mentioned something about killing a moose? Marshal had no earthly clue of what she was talking about. Had the name been mentioned during team practices and strategy session? Most likely; but he now made a mental note to search for anyone resembling a large, horned animal.

After watching the girl lift off and disappear into the tenebrous sky, the boy pulled his hood up and tightened its strings, veiling his blonde hair and venturing into the cold. Though he wore thermals and a hoodie beneath his uniform, the trudge to his place of posterior prominence was less than pleasant, an icy wind defying his efforts and chilling his nose.
Claiming a frosty seat, he took the last moments before match start to scan his counterparts, being the opposing team's bench-warmers. There, another distraction eclipsed any thoughts of quidditch once more.
One arm raising skyward, it then drifted from one side to another, the movement intended for the eye of Winnie Harper. He'd previously learned the red-head occupied Ravenclaw's quidditch team, and had looked forward to this match ever since.
In reality, her presence could only be detrimental to his performance, were he needed to enter the match at any point. Between her and Evelynn, it was hard to imagine his attention being anywhere near the game of quidditch. As it stood, he didn't know where to look.

It would be at this time that narrators, readers and authors alike might question who on earth let this kid on a team in a co-ed sport.
Action: Nothing quidditch-related.

Gabriella was possibly more energised than she'd ever been before a Quidditch match - even her very first one, this time a year ago. Her last game had been the first one her team had won - granted, she had been knocked off her broom relatively early on in the game, but the euphoria had still been there, and she couldn't wait to feel it again once they were done thrashing Gryffindor. Wishful thinking? Perhaps, but Gabby was in too optimistic a state to care. Clutching her Silver Arrow, she stepped out onto the pitch, a broad smile lighting up her face.

"So they think that they can take me on
They must be crazy
There ain't a single thing those Gryffs can do
That's gonna phase me
But if they wanna have a go
My bludgers gonna let 'em know
Those lions don't stand a chance
Eagles gonna own this show!"

The chorus rang out loud and clear as the blazoned broom-battering beater burst from Ravenclaw's locker room and onto the pitch. The Ravenclaw was sported a band-aid, why?..dont ask questions. Confidence flew in the face of falling flakes. Through hell or high water, it made no difference. Hogwarts could throw a snow storm their way—a blizzard.. a HURRICANE—and still the eagles would soar above it all in grand defiance. Gryffindor might have bested them during their last confrontation, but after this match, noone would question Ravenclaw's air superiority.

"Snow angels?" Jorah jeered, marking the opposing seeker with an outstretched pointer right before turning it to make a thumbs' down. "More like slow angles. Those obtuse lions have nothing on us. You've got the brains," he guffawed, smirking at Sylvain. "And I—" A thumb planted itself on his chest even as his bat swung a few circles in his other hand. "—have the brawn. Let's show those obtuse cubs just how acutely mistaken they are to step foot on this turf."

RAVENCLAW vs. GRYFFINDOR
ROUND ONE
Although everything the light touched was covered in a thick layer of snow, and although the air seemed to bite any exposed skin hard enough to leave a scar, the players were in their positions, dutifully mounted upon their brooms in the air. Both teams were entering this match with a victory already under their belt, and both were seeking to add yet another one to their record. Gryffindor, riding high on a 6 game winning streak, would face off against Ravenclaw, last year’s underdogs and this year’s ruthless broom-killers. Both teams had both tenured players and rookies, and both teams were looking to emerge with the House Cup at the end of the season. A gathering storm of brutal violence and ruthless seeking loomed over the horizon, and the victor would need nerves of steel and a will touched by the gods to finish it..

Haley, the newest of Gryffindor’s first string Chasers, would be the only player on the entire field to go for the Quaffle. The first time she approached Ravenclaw’s goals, the Quaffle would tumble from her fingertips and bounce off the goalpost harmlessly. It was a miss that could easily be blamed on nerves, but the redhead seemed to find her footing as she threw the Quaffle back through the hoops twice, Ravenclaw not having anyone there to catch that. She was clearly prepared to set a fast pace and had no problem upping the tempo of the match, putting Gryffindor on the scoreboard with 20 points.

First to act with astonishing speed was Gabriella, who was practically dripping in finesse as she swerved in and out of the players on the pitch, hunting down a bludger to utilize as her weapon of choice. Slowing down to get into position, her eyes locked in on Anastasia as her target. The metal braces on her beater’s bat grinded against the metal of the bludger with a shriek as she sent the bludger hurtling toward Anastasia, as if the two had a magnetic connection between them, Unfortunately for Gabriella (but fortunately for Ana), the Gryffindor chaser swerved out of the way just in time to avoid being hit.

Griseldis, ever the opportunist, would take advantage of the bludger soaring past Anastasia to send it straight back toward Gabriella, aiming to take her out. As if she were the cross-hair of a sniper rifle, she needed just one shot to knock the Ravenclaw beater clean off her broom. It was inevitable that her body would soon hit the ground, broken and shattered… but fortunately for her, Gabriella was caught by her teammate, Aly.

Cecily, a chaser with a penchant for cheating, would decide that the best course of action was to target Gryffindor’s seeker and golden girl, the captain herself. Hurtling toward Evelynn, the blonde Metamorph prepared to blatch her straight off her broom, but it was Cecily who was nearly hurled from her broom and she zoomed straight past Evelynn, missing her entirely. ”QUINN! Penalty lap for attempted blatch!” the ref called out, and the Ravenclaw chaser would be forced into the timeout corner to think about her actions.

But just because she was sent on a penalty lap didn’t mean she was out of harm’s way. Little did Cecily know, Suzuki was more than ready to send a bludger at her face via a vicious backbeat. The Gryffindor hit the other bludger at the retreating Chaser, hitting her squarely in the leg and sending her spinning through the air. Although the blow certainly hurt like crazy, Cecily would still be able to hang on to her broom to complete her penalty lap.

Following her captain’s example, Lavinia would fly after the other Gryffindor captain with a determined look on her face. Unfortunately, she would miss Rafael completely, and he would be left unscathed to continue flying. On the bright side, it appeared that no one even noticed that she had been attempting to blatch Rafael, although she probably earned herself a few confused glances for her erratic flying.

Following the pattern of aggressive blatching, Akari chose Jorah as her victim. Everything from her technique to her trajectory to her speed seemed to spell out a surefire doom for Jorah, but as Akari hurtled toward the Beater, there was one thing she forgot to account for: Jorah was simply too strong. Basic physics tells us that force equals mass times acceleration, so while Akari was certainly zooming through the air, the light Keeper simply didn’t have the mass to knock Jorah off his broom. “Penalty lap to Kato, for attempting blatching!”

After being boinked into by Akari, Jorah finally came to his senses and realized that there was a bludger surprisingly near him. Cecily had missed wide on her attempt to blatch the Gryffindor Seeker, so it made sense that he would go to continue what she had started. With confidence backed by his experience on the pitch, he readied his bat for a backbeat. The contact was perfect and right in his sweet spot, and the bludger careened straight into Evelynn’s left shoulder and bicep, nearly sending her flying from her broom.

Ah yes, the golden snitch. That shiny little bastard that was the key to ending the match, and both teams were on the hunt for it. While Evelynn was too preoccupied with dodging cheating chasers and blinding bludgers to be able to devote all her brain power to searching, River had a bit more luxury and had a little more time to herself to meditate on where that snitch could possibly be hiding. And, as if she had manifested it out of thin air, she spotted it: the familiar golden glint of the snitch.

Oh, the humiliation. Gryffindor's Seeker seemed to evade Cecily's blatch with superhuman dexterity, leaving the Ravenclaw to whiff right past her. In a moment of hope, though, it seemed like she had gotten away with her cheat, until the sound of her name sliced through the chilly air to pierce her bubble. But even as she dragged herself out of the fray, aiming for the edge of the pitch to complete her penalty lap, it seemed her shame was only to grow. It was rare for Cecily to be the target of, well, anything, especially this early in the match. It was a sneaky strategy on the side of the Gryffindors, a move the Ravenclaw didn't see coming until it hit her full-force. A burst of pain radiated up her leg, sending her off balance for a moment. She couldn't believe how whichever deity presided over these matches, the one that decided all of their fates in these official events, had betrayed her this day, but really, she couldn't believe the audacity of the Gryffindors to invade the Eagles' rightful place in the sky. Maybe the Lions should just give up, protect their pride before it was irreparably damaged with what they had coming to them.

“Oi, Ranvier!”

Oh god, what is that?

A Nicholas?

With an Aurora sign!?

Butterflies? Screw that. The whole zoo was coming out. It was plain like food without seasoning, but he did it in his own sweet way. And Aurora was all over the place to say the least. Lost for words, yet it said more than her usual relentless ramble. One hand covered her mouth in surprise whilst the other waved at his direction excitedly, slightly making this awkward jump but both of her feet were still intact on the ground. When she cheered on him during the race, never once did she expect him to do the same. After months of observation, it was safe to conclude that he was not the type who would shower her with affection. This ain’t no romance movie. Breakfast in bed? More like ‘make your own meal!’. But it was all good, at least she knew that he secretly cared even just the slightest.

'Go Aurora', that was what he wrote on that sign. Go where? Out of his sight and mind? Now that was harsh. Or go to his side and never leave? Then how am I supposed to do my toilet business? But of course she wouldn’t ask him that in the middle of the match in front of many people, not everyone would appreciate toilet talks.

Oh right, we’re in the middle of a quidditch game. Though, there was a better sight to see.

Juniper sat at the edge of the bench, hands folded together on her knees. The beater for Gryffindor was as tough as they said, and Gabby was already falling. "Seriously?" She muttered. Of course, they go straight for knocking people out. And their keeper, she caught Gabby but the other team scored. Ah, so that's what they were doing. She covered her face as the score for Gryffindor went up, but peeked back at the game. She didn't want to miss anything. She was watching the moves of the other team with deep interest.

From down here, it was hard to keep track of all the scarlet and blue specks that were zooming around the pitch going this way and that. From down here, it was hard to keep track of who was who but as long as the Gryffindor stands were cheering, the brunette reckoned that was a good thing. Her nerves were still up in the air, it was one thing to be down here away from the prying eyes but totally different when flying around up there having everyone's eyes up on you. Still, if the eventual moment came, Elena wasn't one to freeze up watching rather impressively as Haley went on to score not one but two goals.

A good start and an even better mentor, Haley really was better than she gave herself credit for. The other chasers were busy either fending off other players or the Bludgers themselves, she almost winced hearing the bat crack against iron, she would not be on the recieving end of that any time soon. Still, Elena sought confidence in the fact that they had an early point lead, there was still time for a lot of that to change but seeing as Gryffindor had come out on top last year, she had no doubt in the fact that they relatively had this in control, everyone knew what they were supposed to be doing, not worrying about potential whati-ifs and that was a philsophy she would have to adopt if she got summoned up there in the freezing cold air.

Suzuki thought the blatching was just with the previous match, but apparently not. There was sufficient blatching this time, and he watched as players rammed their bodies into others, and were then sent on penalty rounds.

He took a swing at a bludger, and watched as it slammed into the leg of the opposing player. However, since it was slightly off target, the player only spun sideways slightly, not willing to let go of their broom so easily.

A exclamation of surprise slipped from the lips of the Gryffindor Captain as he only narrowly dodged the oncoming foot of the Raven offensive – and he had been minding his own business, too! Perhaps it was due to his focus on his extremely annoying co-captain that he had failed to notice the oncoming attack. He’d have to thank the hours he’d dedicated to sharpening his reflexes, then. Eyes following the retreat of Lavinia, he threw up his hands in an offensive gesture, cursing wildly in Spanish. Ravenclaw wanted to play that way? “Fine,” he growled, fixing his grip on his broom determinedly. “It was your call.”

Interception
Reducio
When a Quaffle is being passed, users with this ability automatically get a chance to Intercept the quaffle. This does not replace their normal action for the round. This put the quaffle in your and by extension you teams' possession.

Also, if the Quaffle is dropped for any reason, you would automatically (without it taking up an action) attempt another Quafflegrab. At present there would be no mid-round way to drop a quaffle due to the order of operations, however there will be certain effects in future patches that can cause this effect.
Catch
Reducio
Able to catch two falling players on your broom when playing Quidditch. These additional caught players would be brought to the ground safely and they would be allowed to retrieve their broom and enter play again the next round. This can be done every round as the player's action if they choose to do so.

With brooms that have the feature where an additional player may be caught (such as Bluebottle) where there is a stackable chance of failure with each additional person caught, there is no stacking failure chance for players with this ability.
Perfectionist
Reducio
You have a reduced critical failure chance range by 1. In addition, you can counter up to 1 point of additional critical failure chances caused by abilities or spells (not potions). In other words, if you have an extended critical failure chance range (as is the case with certain races, the effect of certain spells or potions), this reduces that range by 1. So if you have a +2 critical failure chance range (meaning if you roll a 1,2, or a 3 you critically fail), this ability makes it a +1 critical range instead (meaning if you roll a 1 or a 2 you critically fail).
