Ah, but I truly do want to be one

The shadows on my wall
they creep, they creep
but the shadows, they all
Weep, and weep
The shadows on my wall
they live to scare
but the shadows, you see,
all live in despair
The shadows on my wall,
seem to only bring darkness
but the shadows that conceal
also feel
that the world is heartless
And sometimes I think
that the shadows that sneak
have words they too,
can't stand to speak.
*bows* thank you thank you
sorry I was just hit with a sudden desire to write poetry (I don't even know why?)
So I did... and yeah

That's a good obsession to have. Rap is also good, pop, rock, anything since 2010. Some before also, of course, like 'Country roads, take me home, to the place, I beloooong, West Virginia' and so on..Cody Stevenson wrote: 17 Jan 2022, 13:46I like them better than modern day music. My sister is the one obsessed with kpop

I don't care what people call me either. But if somebody else does care about it I always make sure to respect that and use the correct pronounsJuniper Kelly wrote: 17 Jan 2022, 13:47 It's fine, Youssuf I don't care what pronouns people use for me, nor do I care about gender

I don't often write poems myself, but I read them a lot. Eg.
"Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate.
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer’s lease hath all too short a date.
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines." Shakespeare. I have to study it this year. I learnt it by heart.

Poe wrote really great horror stories.
I also have Robert Frost's poems in my syllabus. Fire and Ice, for example:
"Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice."

Ooo I do have that on my playlist. I've never actually been a fan of rap, which is why I don't like Hamilton, hip hop isn't my favorite either. Country for me is eh, rock is my favorite. But- I mainly have Culture Club, Queen, Beatles, Bob Seger on my spotify

But the most heart-speaking poem I ever heard was Trees. Joyce Kilmer.
"I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth’s sweet flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree."
BTW I did copy that, I didn't remember all of it.
