Draven had left class a little early, a mischievous smile tugging at the corner of his lips as he waited. The hallway he'd found himself in looked identical to most of the ones at hogwarts. Dark. Gloomy. Viciously cold for the duration of the winter, at least in his opinion. But unlike the other hallways at Hogwarts, this particular one had something special - Juni's last class for the day.

Our boy was waiting outside the door, a tiny basket with sweets and sandwiches on the ground beside him, hidden by the dramatic flare of his coat, away from prying eyes. The two kids had exchanged letters all throughout the past week. But either Juni had been at quidditch practice, or he'd been neck deep in essays. Meeting up had been near impossible. Until today. They'd agreed to meet up a couple days before - a part of Draven, a bigger one than he would have liked to admit, had been waiting anxiously for the day.

Draven perked up when the door to the class slammed open, nearly flying off its hinges. Students came streaming out, most hastily trying to get away, their heads tucked in between their shoulders as the teacher's disapproving speech followed them out the door. Something or other about essays and OWLS and how next year's classes would eat them all alive. "Rough class, Ms. Kelly?" Draven asked, his voice holding a note of amusement as he took her in.

Juniper scribbled into her notebook, but not notes. She was doodling in the back of the classroom trying to run down the time. But she swore everything she looked at the clock, they had lost a minute. Time was not moving. She leaned back in seat as her professor leaped into a rant about O.W.L.S. great, cool. Like they needed to be reminded. Class would be over in 3 minutes. Juni slammed her book shut, earning some annoyed glances. She shrugged in apology as she shoved her book into bag, she was too excited. More than she dared admit. Of course, she had to keep her cool. She couldn't seem like she had been waiting ever since they agreed to meet to today, even though she had. And soon, everyone around her was shoving there things into their bags, and Juni was trying to reach the door before everyone else. Everyone else was so much taller than her. But Draven? He stood out easily. Maybe she just really was excited to see him.

She shoved her way through the kids to get out of the stampede. "Draven." She exhaled and she grinned. "Yes, actually. " they had become good friends through owls, and Juniper would be lying if she said she didn't have other feelings for him. Suddenly, she felt weird. Her shirt was in a messy tuck, at least her skirt was okay. Her robes, still presentable. But Juni stood there with her messy hair (the hair she never brushed). She had tried her very best to brush it today, actually.

"And you, Mr. Draven. Did you leave a class early to be here?" She raised an eyebrow, clearly amused and trying to hide her big great grin.

Draven was smiling like a fool as he offered her his arm. "I may have slipped out when the Prof wasn't looking" he grinned.

He wasn't blushing. Definitely not. But he'd certainly felt the blood rush to his cheeks at an elegantly arched eyebrow and a poorly hidden smile. "You look lovely." The words slipped out before he could stop them. A fool's declaration, a compliment which was more than idle words in the breeze, more than politeness. And with every second he spent in her presence, the less he was certain he wanted to stop those sort of things from slipping past his lips. She certainly didn't seem to mind it.

"I am going to steal you away from dinner," he said, leading her down the halls. "Hope your friends won't be too mad."

It was a long, winding road. Hogwarts was notoriously tricky to navigate with the constantly shifting staircases and the corridors which seemed to have been built by drunken pixies. He hoped the desitantion would make up for the journey.

They arrived in a hidden hall , tucked away behind one of the massive columns which seemed to support nothing at all. Grand windows towered above the two kids, giving away a view to the murky depths of what wizards called The Great Lake. Green light filtered through the dark glass, casting strange shadows upon the blanket Draven had laid out on the cold stone floor. A lantern had been placed at each corner of the blanket, holding it in place. "We get so little time together," Draven mused, helping her down upon it and then lowering himself as well. "I figured we should make the best of it."

Tomorrow, they would go back. Her to becoming the greatest quidditch player the school had ever seen, him to proving writing flowed through Mirador blood. But today, they could just be themselves. And it was an odd kind of perfect.

Youssuf sat up attentively in class, listening to the Professor as he outlined the mechanics of a spell. Then, for some unknown reason, he went into a froth over OWLs. Chill, dude! OWLs are in fifth year! Plenty of time to make us pass till then, he thought wryly. And class was over, thank god. Cause boy did he need some nourishment! Dreaming of sausages and apple pie, he packed his bag slowly.
Only after stuffing his inkbottle in the bag carefully, did he look around and discover that everyone was gone! Damn. Then he peeked outside class and found two kids talking outside class. One was Juniper, he knew her slightly. She was Cody's cousin. But the other he didn't know at all. His name was Draven, apparently.
He eavesdropped shamelessly on their conversation, without even thinking about it (who said Gryffindors couldn't be mischievous/evil).
"You look lovely." the other fellow said. He raised an eyebrow. Oho! Lovely, huh? This might be most interesting indeed! Juni and the dude set off down the hall, arm in arm.
He had a moment of hesitation right there. On one hand, the chance of losing the potential friendship of Juni and the dude, plus the fact that he'd miss dinner; on the other, the fact that it would no doubt be most interesting indeed. Damn! He just could NOT resist. But he made a solemn oath that he wouldn't eavesdrop more than five minutes.
He followed the duo with commendable sneakiness. They never noticed him at all; surprising indeed! In his experience, people tended to be wary of dark corridors and glanced everywhere nervously. But the two of them were completely engrossed in each other.

A little later, they arrived at a small hall, with huge windows bordering the walls. They looked onto the Great Lake. But the coloured windows turned the lake from a dull greyish-silver to a rainbow lake. It was beautiful. The glass turned the sunlight a light green, giving the impression that they were underwater. Youssuf hid behind a pillar and gazed at the hall in wonder.
Draven had spread out a large blanket on the floor, weighing the corners down with lanterns. He had really prepped for this, and Youssuf now felt seriously guilty. Even more so, when he overheard what Draven said next.
Hell! How to get out of this? He didn't want to kill their future friendship!
Then a great idea struck him. He sneaked quietly out of the hall, and to a distance of several corridors and fake walls. Then Youssuf called out loudly - "HOUSE-ELF!"
Nothing happened. Hell! He sprinted down to the Great Hall, panting. Luckily enough, right at the end of the Gryffindor table, he found a couple of mostly empty platters! He loaded them with anything within reach.
When he was finished, there were two huge platters, one of food and one of salad. Both were well endowed with food, and Youssuf's empty stomach rumbled at the sight. But he controlled himself, and took both platters back to the Secret Hall, hoping that they weren't gone yet.

He carried them quickly and carefully to his (hopefully) new friends, and entered the hall hesitantly. He placed them between Juni and Draven, and said happily, "I did overhear you, I did follow you, sorry, but I felt like helping out my new friends. Dinner, as it were, is served. Enjoy! Just tell me your opinion, and then I'll leave. I got the stuff from the kitchens."
Youssuf stood there, awaiting their response. He hoped they wouldn't be too angry.

A smile tugged at the corners of her mouth the moment Draven spoke. "Ohhhhh, Dray is being a rule breaker, now?" her seemingly reserved friend offered many things for Juni to tease about, but she only teased in a flirtatious way, it was her best way of flirting sometimes. Her only way of flirting, since feelings were oh, so confusing. Like the little flutter in her chest the moment the compliment slipped from Draven's lips, when she was wearing nothing but a school uniform. Still it wasn't the compliment but who said it that caused the feeling many called "butterflies." Certainly she couldn't just stand there and stare, she had to say something.

"I- so do you, like always."She looked into his eyes and debated complimenting them to make a reference to when they first met. When Juni had foolishly blurted that he had pretty eyes. But she didn't. Instead she shut her mouth and let Draven led her down the halls of Hogwarts, wondering where they were headed. She shrugged to Draven's comment, "you're my close friend. And you don't seem to mind." Juniper cringed inwardly. Did that sound like she was friend zoning him? Shoot. She grinned as she sat down on the blanket. As Draven spoke, she looked in awe of the shadows that played on the floor and carpet and the green glow from the Windows. "that's what makes the moments we do have together, extra special." She said, grinning. She checked behind her shoulder with a frown. "I keep thinking that I hear other foot steps." and suddenly, a boy popped on with trays of food like a waiter.

Juniper looked at Draven then back at the boy. "you were eavesdropping? Her face blushed a furious shade of pink as she wrinkled her nose at the boy. "friends? I'm sorry, who are you again?"

"Close friend?" he said with a huff of laughter. "Well clearly I'm doing something wrong." Digging through the basket he'd brought with them, Draven carefully pulled out the pancakes. They were freshly made from the kitchens, fluffy and golden brown and perfect, stacked on a plate along with strawberries. "I wasn't able to find the uh....M and Ms you mentioned," he sighed, putting a bowl of whipped cream beside the pancake plate, "I don't exactly know a lot of muggles, so I couldn't have them flown over. BUT. I did find these little chocolate drops in Hogsmade - I know they're not the same, but....I hope they'll do?"

He may have spent a ridiculous amount of time at Honey Dukes the day before, browsing the shelves anxiously for anything that resembled the muggle candy. He didn't have much to go by. Just 'round chocolate with a shell'. Eventually, he'd settled on chocolate turtles. Now, they were trying to very slowly crawl out of the bowl he'd placed them in. Making their way over to Juniper and the pancakes.

Draven looked in the direction he was in, raising an eyebrow at the shadowy figure which made it's way towards them. He wasn't much to look at. Lanky and awkward, with an army style buzz cut which looked like it had been done with a particularly dull knife. He was struggling underneath the weight of a platter and slowly shuffling towards him and Juni.

Draven climbed to his feet, instinctively moving between him and Juni. Not that she needed any protection, she could probably beat both their asses without breaking a sweat. Still. The stranger shuffling down a dark hall before them didn't exactly scream 'good vibes' and 'happiness'. "Sorry...do I know you?" he said, peering down at the plate. "People I associate with usually don't follow people down the halls."

He couldn't place him from anywhere. Draven's brows knitted together as he peered at the other boy. His clothing was affordable, and clean, but it didn't quite suit him. It hung off his frame like a sack, as if he'd been thrust into it without much grace or care. He was shorter than Draven, but better built, and was standing before the two like a criminal awaiting verdict from a judge. "If I do know you," Draven went on, "...why are you trying to kill me?"

There were nuts on the plate. Something which he couldn't even touch, let alone eat. Least he'd die a very, very, very painful death.

Draven took a careful sidestep from it. "I'm sorry I can't quite....I don't think I've ever seen you in my life, Mr....?"

Youssuf held his hands up, after placing the platters on the blanket. "Easy, people. Easy. No need to kill me. I'm just helping, or so I like to think. These platters are designed randomly, compliments of....well, me. The nuts aren't nuts, Draven. They're berries. Dried. Don't worry. I mixed it up a bit, since I don't know your tastes. Just leave the nuts."
Youssuf looked at the couple (they looked like a couple too; Draven standing to protect Juni without hesitation). "Yo, dude, no need to look at me like I'm a beggar or something. I'm a first-year too. Youssuf Baid. Gryffindor. This is my default nervous mode of being. I'm a Metamorphmagus. When I get nervous, I literally change. Gimme a minute."
Youssuf hadn't even realised that he'd changed until Draven looked at him weirdly. He'd become a raggedy-looking weirdo tramp in strange clothes with badly buzz-cut hair. He closed his eyes, and concentrated hard. Almost instantly, his hair became smoother, his face changed subtly and Youssuf's height shot up. He was the same height as Draven now, and he fit his clothes perfectly (he was pretty muscular in his non-changed form). "Sorry about that. I can't properly control it yet."
He looked at Juni. "You don't remember me, huh? Youssuf? Amakir the Elf? From the Morgansfort campaign with Cody? I'm a good friend of his. And Draven, we haven't met, but I've seen you around."
"It won't kill you to eat. Don't worry. Just keep to your platters. Easy and simple. Anyway, now I'll leave you to a romantic evening. Lovely to meet you. Sorry again for disturbing, you can get back to what you were doing. Buh-bye!"
Youssuf left the secret hall, feeling much more chipper. He'd performed a good deed!

"You brought pancakes?" She asked in disbelief. With the pancakes he brought out strawberries and whipped cream. "Awe" She said, holding her hands to her face. "You know me so well Dray." She said this in a teasing tone, catching his eye. She could tell the pancakes were freshly made, making her mouth water. "Oh no no, it's fine. Really, these will do just fine. I wouldn't want you going through so much trouble just for me anyways." She was beyond thankful that he had taken the time to do all of this for her, he had even gone looking for sweets that the magical world didn't have.

The chocolate turtles would do just fine, just fine indeed. The fact that he had searched for M and M's and found what would work just for her made her want to- well, she wasn't sure. "These candies are really cute! M and Ms are just circles, they don't move or anything." She grinned at the tiny candy as it tried to crawl out of the bowl. Super cute.

Then the boy. Juniper watched him walk over as if they were besties. Juniper eyed the plate and frowned in discomfort. There were nuts on the plate. She looked at Draven, worried. What was this boy up to? Did Juniper need to kick him? Suddenly, he spoke Draven's name. "How do you know his name? Huh?!" She stood up and advanced towards him. "And how did you know what he's allergic to? Who are you? And those aren't berries. Do we look stupid to you?" She frowned and wrinkled her nose. "Compliments of you? You're telling me you made this all on your own?" Most likely it was the house elves. Nice try buddy.

Juniper eyed the boy, who was not a pretty sight. As if he was reading their mind, he stated that he changed when he was nervous. "WOW, Draven did you see that?! He changed entirely when he was only a firstie. " She knew that was not possible. "I would have recognized you, but now you're a bald kid. Last time, you were much shorter. You had hair, you looked a lot different, too. " Why did he look that? He didn't even like the Indian boy she had known.

"Weirdo." She said as he left, then she sat down. "Ignoring that... let's eat?"

Draven's gaze followed the boy as he left. The encounter...well it had been a little more than strange. Out of place even. It seemed like 'Youssuf' had trouble reading the room... The royal shook his head, fishing a pair of gloves from inside his pocket, and sliding them on. "That was odd," he said, making a face as he pushed the platter aside with a gloved hand, careful to not make any of the heavily piled fruit topple.

But with the dark hall looming over the two kids, it felt wrong to turn his back to the direction their newfound 'friend' had come from. Draven bristled. He'd planned for it to be a little bit of a private night out, but perhaps the castle corridors weren't the best place to hang out. It was bloody cold, at the very least. "It just feels so awkward now," Draven sighed, leaning backwards on his palms and peering at Juniper. "I'm half expecting another person to pop out of the hall, and try to kill YOU this time...that's a question I never asked, actually. Are you allergic to anything, Ms. Kell-"

A turtle was trying to scale him. It's tiny chocolaty flippers had hooked onto one of the buttons of Draven's open cloak, and it was currently doing it's very best to climb up to his breast pocket. "Excuse me," he said, gingerly picking it up and setting it atop Juniper's hand. "It's her you're supposed to be loving, not me." The turtle gave a chocolaty frown, and took a dive off of Juniper's hand, into the bowl of whipped cream, doing a rather impressive midair flip while it was at it. Draven's miffled frown cracked into a smile. Those things were as adorable as they were cute. "I wonder where your friend got the M and Ms from..." the boy mused, eyeing the platter Youssuf had left. "I swear I looked for days..."

A muggle candy shop in Hogsmeade wouldn't have been a terrible idea, actually... He was lowkey debating owling some of the more business savvy muggle kids, asking them to start a shop, and then funding it. He'd have to look for a fairly nice spot in town, one close to the school. Somewhere with plenty of natural daylight an-

"Do you wanna just get the food and go somewhere else? We could go to an abandoned classroom or something. Lock the door in case there are....anymore surprises waiting."
