Delilah had been sitting in charms for an hour now, learning about the history of wingardium Leviosa and how to cast it, but she still didn't quite get it. Professor Blackburn was good at teaching, Delilah just wasn't very good at the practical side of her studies despite her being known for being a know-it-all who tried to be nice to everybody she met. She was a Ravenclaw though, some people thought all Ravenclaws were know-it-alls. Delilah waited for everybody to leave at the end of the class, or at least the vast majority of the large class. She packed her stuff away slowly as people filed out of the singular door, you would think they would get double doors for such a big classroom, but no,a singular door. This meant that there will literally a queue to get out of the classroom.

Once all of her stuff was in her book bag and slung over her shoulder, she walked to the front of the class where the Professor and his beloved Denise were. Delilah smiled at Denise and then looked up at Professor Blackburn who was looking back at her, "Umm...I still couldn't get the charm to do very much. I'm not very good at this kind of thing." She laughed nervously as he asked her to try it out on one of the feathers that had been returned to his desk so he could see what she had been doing wrong.

After that was over and done with and she found out what she had been doing wrong she thanked the Professor and turned towards the door herself, thinking everybody had already left. She was wrong, there was one more person left that she hadn't accounted for, and what are the chances this would happen. As Delilah walked towards the singular door she didn't notice the Slytherin walking towards it at the same pace as her, so when she tried to walk through the door and she crashed into somebody else she got quite a fright. She turned to the taller boy and laughed nervously again, "I'm so sorry, I didn't see you there." Although the boy didn't seem quite as apologetic as she did.

Contrary to popular belief, Dmitri Jones, as a Slytherin, was actually pretty diligent with his schoolwork--channeling his inherent ambitious behavior into more... profitable endeavors, while his competitive nature gave him the drive to surpass anybody who could possibly hinder his way to ultimate success.

Which was probably why he was fast asleep in the whole class on the theory of Wingardium Leviosa.

It was efficient, really. Beforehand, he has already fumbled through the disastrous, fumbling, and embarrassing stages of learning about the spell--history, theory and practical applications--by himself as he devoted most of his free time to studying and practicing spells in advance. It was honestly totally well-deserved for him to sneak a little bit of rest in the farthest corners of the Charms Room--he sacrificed enough sleep for this class as it is.

It probably didn't help that today was a shared period with Ravenclaws. Most of the rumors are true, to be perfectly honest. A lot of their students were nosy know-it-alls and their constant "intelligent" prattling in today's class bored the Slytherin boy to death.

Dmitri only snapped awake, drool beading at the corner of his mouth, at the sounds of chairs scraping the wooden floor. Sleepily stuffing his school-stuff into his knapsack, he stood up, stretched, and yawned his way to the door--after wiping his drooly mouth, of course. In hindsight, he really did not notice that someone else was inside the room with him. All he really thought about was finally getting to sleep in a much more comfortable position back in his dormitory.

So he had no excuse to be so outraged when someone squished him onto the doorframe.

But he was--and he was fuming.

The raven-haired boy whirled around to see one of the snotty Ravenclaws turning wide eyes at him. "Who do you think you are? One would assume, with someone as 'smart' as you, that you would have enough of a visual intelligence to know that someone is crossing the threshold. But no--you had to press me onto the doorway, huh?" The Slytherin would say in an icy--albeit a little silent (the professor was still in his table packing away his stuff)--tone.

He was more mad that a short girl such as the Ravenclaw would startle him so, rather than the fact that he had just been pressed quite uncomfortably onto the wooden threshold. But nobody needed to know that.

Delilah just kinda stared at the slytherin dumbfounded, she didn't know whether to be shocked, upset or angry that he had just half-yelled at her for something common such as getting stuck in a doorframe, it happened quite often with so many students. She looked around, in at the charms professor, he was packing away and there wasn't anybody else too near them, nobody to save her. To be honest his outburst had scared her a little, she couldn't think of the words to say so she just stood there, staring at him for a little while.

"E..Excuse me? You didn't see me either and besides don't you think it would be you who pressed me into the doorway?" She asked angrily, placing her hand on her head and moving it over to him where it met his mouth harshly, proving that she was shorter than him. She was normally timid around new people but he had annoyed her now, "At least I bothered to apologize, is that your first reaction to anything inconvenient? To yell at a girl shorter than yourself?" Since they were just first years they, or at least Delilah, believed that if somebody was shorter than you, that immediately made them weaker than yourself, and very few were shorter than the young Ravenclaw.

Delilah smirked a little at the epic comeback she had just thought of and was just gonna say in a second. "How high must your nose be and how silver is that spoon in your mouth for you to think no inconveniences can ever make themselves present to you?"

Why you...

Dmitri clenched his jaw as the other student talked back at him with words that are--although partially true--quite disrespectful. "Now look here, Miss..." He stepped back, their proximity too close for the Slytherin's liking as they crowded each other in the narrow doorway. "I could clearly recall that I was first to this door before my face was politely introduced to the taste and aroma of gourmet doorway wood."

From the corner of his eye, Dmitri could see their professor take a glance at them, shrug, and go back to his office--leaving the two students to their... heated argument.

The raven-haired boy would laugh cruelly at Delilah's words, narrowing his eyes in a threatening manner as his laugh trailed off. "Oh. So you think just because poor little girl is so poor and little and a girl, it means everything should go her way." Dmitri enunciated in a mock imitation of a girl's voice. "Well let me tell you something. Around here, you should know it's not a fight for grades anymore..." He leaned forward and whispered in a cold manner, "...it's a fight for survival." Dmitri smiled a smile that showed his canines and straightened. "So how about, you actually use that 'brain' of yours and think of how you can avoid being... bitten." Out of nowhere, he snarled and snapped his teeth--aiming to startle the smaller girl and laugh at her reaction.

The raven-haired boy waved off the girl's last statement. "My nose is actually pretty high, thank you very much. And this spoon in my mouth? It's plastic. And I wouldn't mind... acquainting anyone with this blunt tool should the need arise--I have many replacements."

She couldnt help but giggle a little at 'gourmet doorway wood' before going back to a straight face. "Explain to me this, if you were 'first to this door' then why did you shove me into the doorframe, I don't go around getting stuck in doors for laughs pal." She said, putting air quotes during 'first to this door' as she stepped forward again. Then he mocked her, and her face went pink in frustration, "Just because I'm a girl, just because I'm short, yup, totally. Yep it's because I've got no friends and my parents are dead, yeah poor little girl, little me." She said with a laughing tone, kinda creepy how she just threw it into a sentence in the middle of an argument.

She jumped backwards with a squeak as he snapped his teeth at her, then her face going redder as she got madder at him. "Who do you think you are anyway? Who am I kidding you are probably some brat who has no friends of his own!" Delilah yelled, stepping forwards once again.

"You know what? It's better to let someone think you are an idiot than to open your mouth and prove it bud." She said with a grin, her eyes shooting daggers into his. "Oh and I know grades aren't everything, because in your case they are evidently nothing." She smirked with a tiny chuckle, "You've got the personality of 3 pencils." She laughed again, it was just insulting after insult, so she decided to wait a little minute to give him a chance to stand up after his ego was kicked in the gut.

Dmitri would hate to even admit it, but the other student was starting to get on his nerves. As a mostly unfazed, calm, and collected Slytherin, he usually does not even experience such things as strong feelings, but this short, little girl was ever determined to prove him wrong.

It has gotten to the point where his right hand almost came up unconsciously to do... something to the other girl just to shut her up, all because of his outrage--but, thankfully, as any good Slytherin would do, he never resorted to physical violence.

He disguised the moment of internal conflict by brushing off imaginary lint off his left shoulder.

Dmitri laughed blandly. "Hah. Grades are nothing?" He raised an eyebrow. "That's rich coming from a Ravenclaw.

"But, you know, with the sob story you just shared, I figured you would be an expert of that, yes?

"No manners, no height, no friends...

"no paren--"

Dmitri cringed halfway through saying that and went to an abrupt stop.

Whoa.

Even for him that was mean.

He was so caught up in his spiteful rage that he has let it turn him into a tactless brat who used someones misfortunes against them without a care for their feelings. (He usually doesn't care but that's beside the point)

And it was rich for him to be talking about having no parents.

Seeing as he himself was an orphan.

"Nevertheless, from now on... Stay. Away. From. Me." With every word, he emphasized them with a menacing step forward until he was towering over the shorter student. "And if you see a door like this, please watch where you're going, thanks."

He abruptly turned around to conceal his quivering hands.

That was a low blow. Dmitri was even almost contemplating apologizing--a first for him! He bit his lip as he strode ever so slightly away from the Ravenclaw, debating whether to just give up the act and say sorry for the spiteful words.
