Dear Mom and Dad,
So much has happened in the few days since I left you on the platform at King's Cross Station. So much that I cannot begin to put it all into a letter because I fear you might believe I would be fibbing. Truly, I am here and even I do not know if what I am seeing here is real. It is all so mindblowing.
Some highlights. We got off the train and then took a boat ride to the most beautiful castle, which is, of course, Hogwarts. Mom, you would love the surroundings for your photo shoots. And speaking of photos, the subjects within the photos AND painted portraits actually move here! In the case of the portraits, they can even talk. Stairways move here.... I suppose there is a rhyme and reason to their movements, but I have not mastered it yet if there is. I was almost late to my first day classes because of them!
Oh! I am a Hufflepuff! I know you have no idea what it is and neither did I, but it is the House I shall be a member of throughout my entire time at Hogwarts. It gets its name from one of the four founders of Hogwarts, Helga Hufflepuff. Our house mascot is the badger, so our colors are yellow and black. I was placed in this house by a..... and I swear I am telling you the truth.... a talking witch's hat in a Sorting Ceremony that took place when I first got here. All first year witches and wizards had to go through it. The hat was put on my head and it moved as it spoke. It debated with itself for a long time as to which house to put me into, but House Hufflepuff, full of loyal badgers, won out.
Everything is so new to me here. My studies are comprised of Charms, Potions, Defense Against the Dark Arts, History of Magic, Astronomy, Herbology, Flying (on brooms), and more I am probably forgetting. It is a lot to take in right now. I have been so busy and amazed at all around me, but none of it has prevented me from missing and thinking about all of you. Dad, the one thing that grieves me most about being here is missing your OBE ceremony on the 24th. You know I will be thinking of you and will be bursting with pride at such an honor. Make sure Mom sends me a photo of you in your kilt!
Will write more later. I need to find a place to go do my private Bible study.... no Dad, I have not forgotten about that, and I promise you I never will!
I love you both so much. Shower Hillary Dillary with tight hugs from me and and tell her I love her, too, so soooooooo much!

P.S. You do not have to rush a reply back. Archimedes will probably enjoy the rest and a chance to hunt around the farm. He knows the way back to me, Mom, so dinna fash over my address.

Dear Grandma Ruth,
This will be quick because Mom and Dad's letter has all of the details for now. I did want to write a personal note to you and tell you how much I love you and miss you, though. It was hard saying goodbye on the platform, but your tight hug and forehead kisses made me feel loved and ready to face all of this.... whatever this actually is.
One thing I did not mention in my letter to them is that I am what is known as a Muggle here, which simply means I do not come from magic on either side of the family. I know you used to dabble a bit in our family's history and I am wondering if you would not mind dabbling some more? And look at Dad's side as well, please. It could be that yes, I really am a Muggle, but I am just feeling a very strong desire to know where my magic comes from. I mean, who even knew such things existed? It is just mind-boggling to me everything that makes up my daily life now, so if there are any clues in our past as to why it is that I am able to be here, I know you are the lady to find out for me.
And something I will tell you that I did not want to tell Mom and Dad because I did not want to scare them, but Grandma, DRAGONS really do exist!!!

Darling Girl,
It was so sweet to receive your letter(s) and learn of how your first days are going at your new school. We are all trying to keep busy to avoid dealing with the void your absence from us has created. Not gonna lie. It is rather sad around here right now, but we will be fine. It is just a new normal for all of us, you included, to have to get used to. And we will, my darling girl.
Great minds must think alike because even before receiving your missive, your mother and I had spoken about doing exactly as you asked; looking into our family history for signs of magic. I remember my mother telling me as a child about her great grandmother being some kind of healer in the midwest back in the States. I don't know that it will come to anything, but we are going to start there. May take a little bit more time on your father's side, but we will look into that too, fear not.
All your critters are fine and doing well. Hillary is a little mopey, but Kendric and Ainsley came by on Saturday and took her with them on one of their adventures. She came home a much happier dog. They both stayed for dinner and we were all glad to hear their laughter filling the house. They miss you, too.
Be good and stay sweet, darling girl. And AngelFyre, you take your Grandma Ruth's advice and stay away from the DRAGONS!

You will find enclosed the photo I took of your father in his kilt, after receiving his OBE, and also one of him being received by Prince Charles himself. He looked devastatingly handsome as you can see, and sweetheart, the man could not stop smiling the whole night, even while in his kilt. I am so proud of him and I know you are, too!
Write when you can and let me know how everything is going. Are you making friends? Ainsley and Kendric stop by every Saturday to take Hillary with them just like the three of you used to do. I know you are very busy, but Ainsley mentioned not hearing from you, honey, and then she tried to hide the tears from me. Can you just drop both of them a quick note? It would mean a lot to them, and Hillary would be so depressed without their company.
