A New Feeling
Dakota twiddled with his thumbs, it was clear that he was tense-tenser than before. Making friends had helped, it really did but now he felt...something he never felt before. He wasn’t crying, it was something new that he had never experienced before...He wanted to scream, his eyebrows were furrowed and fists were clenched, the only thing preventing him from taking any actions he’d regret being the stars. The stars above made him relax, he wanted to reach up and touch them, dance with them, laugh and play until it was morning again. Yet he knew that couldn’t happen-as long as his brothers were here. It couldn’T be long until they graduated Hogwarts but...11 years of nothing but hate and disapproval took a toll on him. He could still see the flashback as clear as day.
Dakota sighed out and ran a hand down his face, gritting his teeth and sniffling, taking a glance at his burn. It hurt greatly, enough to make him curse out loud, but he refused to let his brothers get to him. For the first time, he actually felt hate for his brothers. It wasn’t just fear anymore. And with that realization, he began to break down, letting out loud, saddened sounds.“Well if it isn’t my favorite brother, Koko.” Allen sneered, his arms crossed and a wide grin plastered on his face. Dakota tensed up instinctively, but forced a smile to appear on his face, not wanting to say anything to trigger Allen, “Hey! Where’s Damien?” Dakota exclaimed, his lifted his chin up in a confident way, which surprised Allen. “You would know by now that’s none of your business, Koko. I mean it’s not like it’ll do you much good-the two of us together never end up in any....positive things.” He drawled, before taking a step forward and pushing Dakota back against the corridor wall with surprising strength.
Dakota winced, and looked up at Allen who let out one of his hyena-like laughs, “What? Weak much?” Dakota’s heart was racing and he tried standing up, only for Allen draw out his wand, “Flipendo!” He exclaimed, sending Dakota down back to the ground hard, ending up in the first year crying out in pain. “Knew it, even after learning so many spells you still can’t defend yourself. Perhaps if you were a Slytherin like me or a Ravenclaw like Damien I’d give you a chance-although I would in fact hate you even more for destroying the Slytherin name.”
Dakota had tears in his dark brown eyes, his breath heavily as he tried his best to get up. “Incendio!” Allen then shouted, lighting Dakota’s robe on fire. Allen had a pure look of hatred in his eyes, his gray eyes narrowed, though the meaning of why he was doing this unclear to Dakota. He just wanted to be left alone, why couldn’t Allen understand that?! He could feel the heat increase and his skin began to feel sweaty, before a sharp pain overcame him. Allen just stared down at him for a few moments, watching Dakota writher on the ground in agonizing pain, trying to get rid of the fire.
That was when he heard footsteps nearby, Allen quickly whispering out, “Aguamenti!” The fire was gone as quickly as it appeared and he ran off, leaving Dakota sobbing on the ground. He looked at the burnt part of his robe, staring at the first degree burn on his leg, his body trembling from shock. Tears ran down his face and he gritted his teeth-he couldn’t end up crying front of everyone! He was NOT a weakling! And with that he stumbled up to his feet, limping in a random direction the fastest he could.

A New Feeling
The tie around his collar was loosened with a tired and gentle tug from Reid's two fingers. He figured he should be back at the Hufflepuff's common room to rest, yet he was feeling anything but 'rest'. Reid had the notes from Dymphna sitting back in his dorm and he wanted to copy them onto his own so he could return it. Yet where he was going to do said task was where and when he was quite particular today, for some unbeknownst reason. There was a swelling exhaustion in his frame, the way his body carried itself. Reid was still absorbing what he was being told, he wasn't the fastest of his peers. It was a bit of a frustrating thought, but he gave himself the benefit of the doubt.
His feet took him towards the tower, steadfast and careful as to not get caught. He wanted to see this 'astronomy tower' after all the talk that he's heard about it, some questionable sources. Reid climbed the tower, step by step and eventually got to the top. It was much colder here, yet the sight was surely something to behold anyway. He was so caught up with everything else that he didn't hear the anguished crying, till he fully heard it. The boy was startled at first, thinking that it was a ghost - maybe a ghost of a student who died up here!
The thought ran chills down the boy's spine, but he pressed on - courage and foolhardiness. Reid glanced about the tower, looking for the source till he came upon a figure. He couldn't exactly see very well, so the young wizard pulled out his wand. "Lumos." he softly spoke, illuminating the end of his wand. It was a student, that was all he could make out. Reid let the wand's light fade, he might alert someone to their location. Reid crouched just a couple of feet from the young boy, "Are you all right?"

A New Feeling
Dakota cried harder, tears running down his face, pressing his knees up against his chest in an attempt to look as small as possible. He was shivering as well, the colder environment causing goosebumps to form on his peachy skin. He examined the wound on his leg with a rather disgusted expression-he was disgusted at himself. How could he let Allen do that to him?! How? Why couldn’t he just freaking threaten or tell him that he was rightfully part of the family, no matter who he chooses to be. And of course, he would only get taunts and laughter thrown back at him-and even a few punches. The more he stood up for himself, the more hatred he got back from them.
That’s when he heard footsteps, and he sat up a bit, but couldn’t stop the tears from flowing down his face. Why did his brothers hate him so much-was it because of his gender or the fact the Sorting Hat chose him to become a Gryffindor? It didn’t make sense! He heard a spell being spoken and immediately tensed up, covering his face, thinking he was about to get jinxed. He was shaking so hard and crying louder, one hand clinging to his burn, where it was beginning to sting greatly due to lack of treatment. “I-I’m fine, I’m fine..” He managed to mutter out, not wanting to admit he was breaking down.

A New Feeling
Destrian was making his way up to the astronomy tower, probably not a place where he was supposed to be that late at night but he felt the urge to look up at the stars to see how many constellations he could name and recall from his youth. He walked up the stairs with little to nothing on his mind, surprisingly enough. But then he heard someone crying. Someone else was casting lumos, he saw when he got to the top of the stairs. Suddenly the interest for the stars had gone and his focus was on the boy, a Gryffindor with the name Dakota, Destrian knew, who was all wrapped up in his own arms with tears running down his cheeks. His father would've told him to ignore it, but as he got to the last two steps, he felt himself already turning towards the other student.
He knelt down at his side, looking at his leg before he looked up to see if he could make eye contact with Dakota. Now that he was closer he could smell the remains of fire on him, mixed with Dakota's wet hair. "Hey .." Destrian tried, not wanting to ask him whether he was doing alright or not. It was a stupid question. Obviously he wasn't doing alright. "Look at me. You have to try and calm down and collect yourself," he said, not scoldingly. "Can you tell me what happened?"
There was a cold breeze which made Destrian shudder, so he could only imagine how the Gryffindor was feeling. He unwrapped himself from his cloak and rested it on Dakota's shoulders, much like a blanket. "You're soaking wet.."

A New Feeling
Dakota continued to shiver, to caught up in his thoughts to hear anything else currently. He breathed heavily, gripping his hair and continuing to shake, his eyes remaining squeezed shut. He just wanted to be alone if he was being honest, he was so embarrassed being in this state that his face was flushed red despite the fact he was feeling so cold. That was when he noticied there was another person here, his eyes opening slowly, the tears running down his face endlessly. He didn’t know what to say at first, his eyes seeming almost lifeless.
He looked around in a paranoid way for a second before whispering softly in response, “My brothers....they...they...” He didn’t know how to phrase it, he was so shocked that he wasn’t even sure the events that happened were real, the student not saying any more words until the cloak was rested on his shoulders. The Gryffindor let out a sigh of relief, now knowing he wasn’t in any danger. Finally, Dakota spoke, his words quiet and shaky, “They beat me up.” It was true, he wasn’t even in the mood to explain what had happened specifically, his gaze on the ground. After a moment, he looked up, forcing himself to smile, a sheepish smile forming on his face, “D-Don’t worry, I’m fine though....”
