Ava walked into the building. She felt more intimidated with every step. She was always here with Kate, or with her Mom, or Dad, or even with Moony - now, she was expected to find Kate on her own, wander around London on her own, get on the train on her own... She did not want to do it. And this was her attempt to change it.

She wanted to get Kate out, no matter what. She had to have someone, some friend to do everything she always did with them - now she had to be alone unless her plan worked. Her head started aching - the girl was nervous. She never did anything like this before and her sister was always her badge. Her ticket. Something that would let her come through all the gates and all the doors that usually would be closed - now she did not have that badge, or that ticket, or that key. Whatever you would like to call it.

Why did they leave the girl on her own? Why couldn't Ava go with her? Why did Ava have to wander alone with only a brief knowledge of the streets and the people? Why?

She walked up to the front desk. "Excuse me, where can I find Kate Silver?"

Kathleen sat on a white pouffe near the counter. Hospitals always made her feel sick. She gazed around, not really knowing what to do. Her parents had asked around and decided for her to stay in St Mungo's, they considered it safe. Probably they were right. But what was she supposed to do? Suddenly, a girl approaching the counter attracted her attention. She forgot her uncomfortable feeling and took in the girl's anxious expression. Kathleen watched her as she leaned on the front desk and asked something. Kathleen heard the word "silver". Maybe something about Sickles? No, that didn't make sense - the girl would have gone to Gringotts Bank for Sickles. Maybe "silver" was a name. Curiosity overwhelmed her and she approached. "Hi!" Kathleen stuck out her hand and pulled it back again, a little embarassed. "I'm Kathleen."

"Oh, h-hello?" Ava turned to the girl that introduced herself as Kathleen. She looked at her weirdly, not sure what she was supposed to say. "My name is Ava Silver, a proud pure-blood at your service; can I help you with anything...?" the girl said and sat down next to her. She probably will not be able to talk to her sister anyway, Kate was probably too busy to care. Ava could do it on her own... right?

She crossed her legs and looked at a piece of paper, clutched in her hand. It was a letter that she wanted to send to her brother, but now she thought it was... stupid. HE betrayed THEM, HE should write HER an apology or a letter, not she write to him. What would she even apologize for? The girl looked off to the side and then back at the girl. "Hello, Kathleen. My name is Ava, as I said before. Are you going to Hogwarts to? Is anyone from your family here?" she asked, not wanting to be rude. It would be nice to have a friend in Hogwarts since Xaver was attending Durmstarng. "My sister works here. I wanted to see her one last time before going to Hogwarts."

"Yes, I'm also going to go to Hogwarts", said Kathleen, curiously looking at Ava. Her gaze fell onto the crumpled piece of paper in Ava's hand. She quickly drew it away when she noticed Kathleen looking at it. Proud pure-blood... Should she really say that she was Muggle-born? Yes, she thought quickly. It's nothing to be ashamed of! "Muggle-born!", she blurted out and added: "Proud of it too." The girl smiled slightly. "As what does your sister work here? A Healer? And... is she maybe called "Silver"?" The girl didn't answer. Kathleen blushed. "Sorry! I didn't want to be nosy. I just heard you saying that word." She grinned, trying to break the ice.

"Yeah, she is. I am Ava Silver and she is Kate Silver. Some people think it is a strange last name, but I think it just is... original. But what do I know, I am just a kid. And yeah, a healer, I guess that is what muggles call it. I, for example, would say she is a Mediwizard. But if you want to call her a healer, you can!" Ava said and looked at the girl with a smile. She seemed... nice. The girl was just hoping Kate would... accept her? Her family did not like Muggle-borns so much. Ava was surprised she was allowed to talk to Xaver - her best friend at home. Well, it can be the fact they thought he was only a muggle when he actually was not.  "Sorry! I didn't want to be nosy. I just heard you say that word." Kathleen quickly said. "No, it really is ok. I said it since it is my last name and I wanted to talk to my sister."

Ava took a quick glance at the stairs. She was hoping that she will see her sister coming down them, but nope - she was probably doing something way more important. "Anyway, what house do you think will be in? My whole family was Slytherins," the girl asked, turning back to Kathleen.

"I'm pretty sure I'm going to be in Ravenclaw", said Kathleen. "I think it's my favourite house - but the others seem to be good, too. And you think you'll also be in Slytherin?" Even though Kathleen liked Ravenclaw best, she found the house of Salazar Slytherin very interesting. "So we'll probably be in different houses..." Kathleen looked a little disappointed. Then, she smiled. "Well, it doesn't matter. We can talk to each other and be friends all the same." She definitely started to like Ava, although there was something strange about her. What had it been with that letter in her hand? Kathleen was nearly overwhelmed by her curiosity, but she somehow felt that this piece of paper was too intimate to ask questions about.
To make matters worse, Kathleen was absolutely rubbish at small talk. She never knew what to say. Feeling that the silence was becoming unbearable, she looked around, searching for a good idea. "Um... will we wait here together? It's really boring, maybe it will be more fun if we can talk to each other." She patted the pouffe next to her and smiled hopefully.

"Yeah, I think I will be a Slytherin. Hoping for it. Though many bad people came out of Slytherin so it does not have the best reputation. But then again, there were many amazing people that were Slytherins. Take Severus Snape for example. He was great," Ava said. She loved the house. The history was great, some of the best wizards were Slytherins. Merlin. Severus Snape. And even if some of them did not use it for good, they certainly well some of the best wizards known. The girl sighed, looking off into space. Would Kate be mad if she was not a Slytherin? What about her grandparents? Probably. Suddenly she felt overwhelmed by everything.

"Maybe we should go. My sister probably does not have time." Ava sighed. She hoped that she could experience everything with her sister, and unfortunately she could not. "You know. She has to be busy as a Mediwizard..." the girl said, walking over to the doors. "We should probably be getting our school supplies now. I will come here once I get 'em, maybe then I will get to talk to Kate," she said, looking at the piece of paper in her hand once again before turning her attention back to Kathleen. "Come, I can show you around," the girl said before pulling the girl towards the door, not realizing the piece of paper flew out of her hand.
