New Year, New Me

Every morning still felt like a shock every time Illowy looked at herself in the mirror. Even as the weeks had gone by, finally curse free, it still felt so difficult to recognize herself completely. At some point or another, she'd find herself wondering what parts of her face had changed, when did she start looking like a young lady and not as much like a child? Despite the strangeness of it all, at the very least one couldn't refuse the fact her confidence had changed.
Even before the curse, Illowy found herself comfortable gliding through the shadows, unnoticed, practically a ghost in her own right. Yet, now, she didn't mind so much about being noticed. Actually, if anything she wanted to be noticed. It felt comfortable now to allow herself to take pride in her appearance, dressing like she had when she'd first arrived in her crisp, light clothes, taking the time to pin her hair out of her face; and being a young teenager, venturing out into playing with makeup and making herself feel pretty. Certainly, she thought now she was pretty... though she was trying to gauge where the line was between confidence and arrogance. After all, nothing was less attractive then a pretty face with an ugly disposition.
Nonetheless, there was still some obvious shift in her, right down to how she carried herself as she walked down the corridors to the Great Hall for breakfast. Laying her journal and pencil down as she sat, the girl took herself a cup of tea and a small plate of food before starting to work on her notes. While she might've been more confident then ever, her main focus was still on her school work and her projects. With the curse over with now though, she was getting restless settling on the next thing to throw herself into.
I was told I was dangerous. When I asked why, they said, "Because you don't need anyone." That's when I smiled.
