Interacting with @Ethen Emrys
In a chaotic year that had already been filled with more than its share of terror and pain, Atlas had desperately been awaiting the arrival of the holidays. She always adored the holiday season. She loved it all, from the food and snow to the decor and lively spirit… not to mention occasional presents here and there. Allowing others to enjoy the holidays seemed almost like a necessary duty, so when Ethen had come to her with news that the…strange…Groundskeeper was looking for some help with fairies, she needed no persuading. Any excuse to handle or work around creatures would always be taken and adding a festive element just made the entire situation better.

Atlas knew that Ethen’s holiday passion started and ended at the food but she was grateful that he had agreed to make a little date out of the errand. She still found the Groundskeeper to be one of the more strange adults wandering about Hogwarts but she had to admit that he was growing on her. She could barely contain her excitement when she was granted two adorable little fairies to assist. Her fawning over the little creatures already seemed to be deeply appreciated by the fairies. She had read about them plenty of times but had never gotten the chance to actually hold one. They seemed so delicate and Atlas was a bit nervous about hurting them.

She was relieved when the fairies took matters into their own hands and perched themselves on her shoulders. Wide-eyed and smiling, Atlas had to show Ethen immediately. In the excitement of receiving the fairies, she almost forgot that they actually had a job to do. Building some festive display for their little companions seemed like a perfectly relaxing little date to share. Atlas was an adventurous girl but even she could appreciate the need for a bit of relaxation after the year they’d had. She also knew that Ethen had been quieter than his usual self after all of the chaos at the start of the year so it would be a nice chance for them to just enjoy each other's company. Unless the fairies turned out to be little demons that attacked them…she wouldn’t put it past the Groundskeeper from the stories she heard.

She and Ethen had agreed that the library was likely a place that would be severely lacking fairies. There was also a bit of fun that came from causing any type of disturbance in the sacred library. Not wanting to disturb her fairy companions, Atlas only grabbed a few general supply items, allowing Ethen to demonstrate in holiday strength in hauling supplies to the library.

Once inside, Atlas had to keep herself from laughing as they wandered through the quiet columns of books looking for a nice place to display their fairies. Something told her that the librarian might not exactly be keen on having creatures take up temporary residence around their books but they could just try and stop her from giving the fairies a beautiful little display. Finding a nice set of bookshelves with some boring-looking books but close enough to a few popular study areas, they decided to begin. They would turn this dusty old bookshelf into something actually useful!

Ethen had decided he would be in charge of little details and was set on making some sort of gingerbread house…Which sounded like an excuse to eat frosting to Atlas… but she would let him while she took to the larger tasks at hand. First came ribbons of reds, greens, and whites that she began looping over the bookshelf. Her little fairy friends snuck off her shoulder to wander on the tops of the books while they worked but Atlas made sure to keep an eye on them.

There were a couple of small wreaths that Atlas began attaching to the bookshelf with small nails. No holiday display would be complete without some nice little wreaths. Atlas then began to tie small holly branches in the network of ribbons to further give the bookshelf a more natural look to it. Now, there had to be snow! But Atlas doubted the librarian would be overjoyed if they started to conjure snow on the old crusty books. She settled for some large floofs of white cotton that Ethen had brought over. She began lining the bookshelf with the material to cover up many of the books. The fairies immediately took to the fluff and began striking little poses in the fuzz. Atlas had to contain her desire to let out an obnoxious ‘awww’.

“How is it coming there, my little builder?” Atlas smiled as she moved to Ethen and wrapped her arms around him to investigate his work. There was still much to be done but she was in no rush. She wanted to make sure that everything was perfect for their little friends. Already the fairies seemed happy to be out and a part of something. “Where do you think we should put these?” Atlas snickered as she bent down and scooped up a pair of bells that immediately started jingling in the silent library.

@Atlas Reid
Ethen knew he needed to pace himself. He needed to ensure that he did not end up eating himself into some form of comatose. The holidays were a dangerous time. A time of cookies, pies and all manner of festive desserts and what was he to do? Not eat them? No such ideas were foolish. He could not allow the holiday season to pass without trying his fair share. But he knew that he needed to make sure he filled his day with activities that were not just devouring food. As fun as it did sound.

He also had a girlfriend to remember…A girl who adored the holidays and seemed to always want to be doing something festive. He admittedly found it adorable and loved seeing how excited Atlas got about things around the holiday. But he also knew that this required him to occasionally step away from the Great Hall to focus on spending time with her. He welcomed the change and had loved the extra time they had been spending together. So when he heard that the gloriously strange Groundskeeper needed some help making festive displays for some fairies, he knew it would be right up Atlas’ alley…or perhaps her avenue because she was quite fancy.

Scurrying to the Groundskeeper cabin to fetch the little hellions, Ethen was quite excited to spend time with some creatures. He had grown up around creatures due to the work of his parents so believed he would enjoy the small reminder of home. Not that he actually had any experience with fairies. He only vaguely knew that they could be rather vain and that they were cute little winged creatures. Beyond that Ethen didn’t know much but he was fine waddling into things not really knowing what he was doing. That tended to be his way of doing things anyways.

Wearing a beanie, Ethen happily plopped his two little fairies onto the top of his head as he began gathering up a smattering of random supplies that they could use to make their display. They had decided that they would invade the library and convert part of a bookshelf into a display. It seemed just mischievous enough to give that little rush yet festive enough for them to play innocent.

Ethen could feel the little fairies gripping onto his hat as he followed closely after Atlas. He briefly wondered what would happen if the fairies decided to just fly off of his head and into the great beyond. But he also suspected that the fairies were enjoying all of the attention that they were suddenly getting.

Once in the library, it didn’t take long to sneak about and find what they were looking for. A perfect bookshelf that would often be in view of other students or the occasional book loving worm. “This should do nicely,” Ethen smiled before giving Atlas a quick peck on the cheek. “Now I have some building to do!”

He placed the assorted supplies on the ground beside the bookshelf but grabbed a small slab of cardboard to begin constructing a little gingerbread house that could go on the bookshelf for their little fairy friends. He had no idea how to make one. But he knew it involved cookies, frosting and candy, so it seemed like a good place to start. He had plenty of supplies to make it work but he quickly would begin to realize that he had overestimated his skills in cookie engineering.

While the fairies lounged on his head, Ethen began hyperfocusing on his little construction while Atlas set to work on some of the other decorations for their joint display. Frosting, while delicious, was proving to be a poor substitute for cement. He now began to understand why it wasn’t often used as a building material. To make matters worse, none of the small slabs of gingerbread seemed to properly connect. The shapes were either not right or the edges just didn’t line up. But regardless, Ethen found himself frequently snickering at his abysmal gingerbread house….it was more of a gingerbread ruin to be fair.

He suddenly felt Atlas’ arms around him and gave a warm smile as she asked about his little project. “Oh, I might just be the next great architect, babe,” he chuckled as he gestured to his…creation. He would have sworn that even the fairies found his creation laughable. Atlas’ decorations, on the other hand, were already looking amazing. When she held up some bells, he knew he needed some. His eyes searched quickly before halting on another pair of bells that he quickly snatched up and began shaking.

The little golden bells began filling the quiet library with their somewhat annoying little jingles. “Oh, these will be perfect,” he laughed, giving a quick kiss to Atlas.
