OOC Warning: Mentions of death
Henry walked through the grounds with Loki besides him. Only two days since he returned to the school from his home.
The teen took the path toward the great lake. Blue eyes flickering on the rippled ahead. It is a quiet day, a slight breeze blew in the distance and the sun hidden behind the clouds. The teen took a breath. Blue eyes looking out at the reflection in the water. Not exactly peace but there is quiet.
Turning to the left and walking along the coast, Loki at his heels. The teen ran a hand through his hair, mind flickering on all he had to see since returning from holiday.
Logan. Aldor. Cash. Scarlet. Juniper. Cody. Adeline. Nicky. Dakota. And Alexa....
At the thought of the girl, he smiled. Thinking of the red head with shimmering eyes placed a warm feeling in his stomach and sent shivers down his spine. The teen hadn't received any owls from her that holiday or seen her since the last few days of december where they were together at hogwarts but he still missed. He stilled loved her. His girlfriend who he couldn't keep his mind off of.
Apporching the large oak like tree that is his favorite spot, Henry leaned on the trunk. Left hand in his jacket pocket, holding a small pocket knife to give his girlfriend. To give Alexa Mackenzie a surpise that day. If only he knew before that day.... if only he knew that she won't be the one joining him.
Henry gave a hufflepuff a note for Alexa to meet at that spot.
He waited.
And waited.
Seconds turned to minutes turned to hours.
Soon the sun begun to lower behind the clouds, a darkness came across the grounds. It is dinner and Henry still waited. His mind worried and anxiety thundering over similar to a everlasting rain cloud.
Loki stretched out. Laying in front of the tree as Henry glanced up at the castle wondering anxiously where Alexa could be. Eyes darting toward the water taking breaths. Desperately trying to calm down, reminding himself that Alexa will be there. She will.... right?
"Uh- excuse me? Are you Henry Knight?"
Henry turned his head at the sound of the voice. It wasn't Alexa, merely some hufflepuff kid he never seen before. Quietly nodding as he spoke"yes." The teen eyes the paper held in thier hands, it wasn't the daily prophet or headliner but another one. A muggle paper.
The kid held the paper out to the third year as they spoke"you should read this." Henry took the paper from them, eyes gazing at the cover confused on what he should be reading. The teen looked up about to ask what this is about when he noticed the hufflepuff is gone. Leaving only him and Loki and the muggle paper.
Deciding their wasn't anything else to do, Henry flipped through the paper. Eyes flickering over mindless ans even comical stories unsure why he was asked to look at it. The teen got to the end, the last story and wasn't even going to read it when something caught his eye. A name.
Alexa Mackenzie
Henry read. Hands girpping tighter and tighter. Eyes flashing over the words, mind racing to his pounding heart. Dreading what could it be but already imagining thr worst.... come true.
car accident.... frozen lake... father and daughter found.... dead.... names of the pair.... Alexa Mackenzie...
The teen felt his world stop. His mind went blank as his hands shook, falling down. Letting go of the paper that flew a feet from him. His chest aches and heart pounded to his rapid breathing. A aching and spinning mind. A shattered heart and broken mind stood in front of the lake.
Henry pushed his hair back, holding his neck with his hands as his knees crumples to the ground. Eyes landing on the soft dirt as he felt hus chest ache and mind cry. Tears within him that couldn't come out. That couldn't break the surface.
"No...no...no..."
The teen moved his hands from his neck to his chest, holding it tightly as he rock forward. Yelling in pain. The teen shut his eyes tight. Wishing for it all to leave, for it to be a dream. For his life to be a illusion because he couldn't deal with the pain of losing another whom he cared for deeply.
Loki saw his onwer in distress, approaching carefully. The feline laid his head on Henry's knees. Amber eyes peering up at the boy. Sitting in silence, wanting to help comfort his onwer with soft licks and his presence of always being there.
"If it wasn't for me.... if you didn't know me then you'll be here... you would be here.... happy... alive....
Hands gripping his shirt tightly, yanking it down a little as his chest ached and mind spinned with his anxiety storming down upon him. The little voice shouting in his mind's ear words that his voice carried out loud. Another agonizing cry. The teen allowed his hair to fall over his eyes. Blue stained wirh grief. With pain. Tears frozen behind his glossey eyes, unable to fall. Unable to cry.
"This is my fault.... your gone because of me... because everything I touch
breaks.... destroyed.... gone... I am a monster..."
Holding his shirt tightly. Loki's head on his knee, licking him softly. The teen pain wash over him. Thoughts run though his mind. Anxiety take over far beyind he experienced before.... the last time he felt like this his mum died and he no longer human.
Time wasn't in their favor but whay Henry can't see is it isn't a goodbye. It more like a see you later..

@Coming upon @Henry Knight

It was January within the Scottish Highlands but that particular day it was unusually warm. Now, it wasn't the kind of warm that would encourage one to want to jump into the Great Lake to cool down but it did encourage even dhampirs to venture out of the castle walls.
This evening seemed particularly peculiar; as the heavy gray clouds loomed above and seemed to echo his mood. The holidays brought Simon Kincaid a sort of heaviness - between having to leave his muggle friends again, trying to unsuccessfully reconnect with his father, and having no one he felt he could truly share his father matters with, he felt somewhat alone.
Making his way to the Great Lake, Simon spotted a Slytherin that was one year his senior, someone who helped show him around the Owlery for the first time back in his first year, a friend of many of his friends, and someone often in the same clubs as he was.
But again, something was off. The boy seemed rather distraught and at first Simon thought maybe it best to leave him be to some peace, but then again, something told him to go closer. It was then he overheard the boy's last words.
He stated he was a monster, but Simon didn't see any reason why he personally would think the boy would think that. Everyone seemed to like Henry enough. And his cat was there offering him comfort, and his cat obviously didn't seem to think he was one. Hell, if anyone there was a monster, it would be Simon.
Simon opened his mouth to say something but words failed him. No, the third year was obviously going through something big and maybe he didn't want someone else to see him at such a vulnerable time. Yet, if he was someone who needed help - wasn't it terribly unkind to turn away without so much as an offer.
Before he even spoke, the cat caught sound of his footsteps against the grass and turned from comforting its owner to looking to Simon curiously, alerting Henry that someone was approaching.
"Henry, mate...uhh," he paused; unsure what he should say or do. "Forgive my intrusion. I just...wanted to offer assistance, if you should need it."

Henry clawed at the dirt. Squeezing the grass as his eyes aimed downward, hair over his eyes. Chest breathing quickly, heavily while his mind reeled.
Loki meow softly once. Resting his head on Henry's knee. Amber eyes looking up at his onwer only wanting to comfrot him.
The teen felt his chest get quicker, hus fingers tinged and heart pounded. Panicked flooded him as he blink rapidly. The teen could feel a panic attack apporching, coming on and there was nothing he could do to stop it. Except let the wolf out, let it take control... Henry's worst fears.
A voice. A familiar one. The teen took multiple breaths. Trying to control himself. A atyack prevented but emotions not hidden. His eyes filled with pain, chest moving up and down rapidly, and hands shaking a bit.
Loki looked uo at Simon. Giving the boy a small bow and meow before restinf hus hesd back on his onwer's knee who was trying to look at Simon. Knowing well that the boy is a friend of Alexa, that he is going to be told. Going to need to be comforted. Helped. Someone to listen to.
The teen tried but couldn't, he couldn't bring his eyes to meet Simon's. He couldn't turn or ever try to explain. His voice suddenly higher than usual, cracked lile puberty was not a thing. The teen is growing, going through hormonal changes and facing puberty but his voice still going that high.
"T- The...The..."
Henry found himself struggling. Struggling to tell Simon. To turn around. To stand. The lad felt broken- more broken than usual. The teen gripped thr grass tighter as tears held in behind his eyes and anxiety thunder down on him.
"Th- The- The p... pap...paper."

Feeling the same anger with @Henry Knight
Simon didn't like seeing anyone this way and wasn't sure how he could help, given that he and Henry weren't close. The Slytherin referenced a paper and Simon glanced down, seeing a newspaper on the ground, open on the grass to a particular page. There was an ad for a car dealership, an article about the rise in property taxes within the City of Inverness..."
Simon paused, thinking how one of his best friends, Alexa Mackenzie, was from Inverness. She was a fellow Hufflepuff and was one of the first to introduce Simon to the wizarding world during his first visit to Diagon Alley just before he entered into Hogwarts his First Year. Alexa Mackenzie, who was also Henry Knight's girlfriend. Simon paused.
The connection now had him worried. He had been thinking about her since they departed before the holidays, as she seemed apprehensive about spending some time with her father. The two of them had a strange sort of relationship going even before her mother died, which was recently, and Simon's thoughts of the girl and hopes that all was well with her weighed heavily on his mind.
He read on. That's when his eyes glazed over the title of the next article: Father and Daughter Die Following Fatal Road Crash on A9 Near Inverness.
No.
It couldn't be. It wasn't possible. Simon slowly knelt down, already feeling sick to his stomach, and brought the paper into his shaky hands and he began to read the article.
It was his hope that the words before him would disprove what was in his head but he knew that wasn't going to be the case. He read on.
----------
Father and Daughter Die Following Fatal Road Crash On A9 Near Inverness
Police Scotland can confirm that a man and his thirteen year-old daughter have died following a fatal car crash and fall from a bridge, located on the A9, near Inverness before the holidays.
The incident happened mere days before Christmas, when Police Scotland reported damage to a handrail on an overpass area of the A9 just south of Kessock Bridge over English Lake. Frigid temperatures have attributed to frozen roads, most likely the cause of the accident.
The car was discovered after a call was put in by officers investigating the damage and Detective Inspector Michael Lynch of Inverness CID identified the two as local banker, Alexander Mackenzie and his daughter Alexa Mackenzie.
Medical reports report that Alexander Mackenzie died after suffering a head injury from the initial crash, and his daughter died from impact with the water. The passenger window was down, but it isn't apparent as to why, and it doesn't appear that either passenger would have been alive once submerged into the frozen lake.

By the time he got to the last paragraph of the far too short article, a splash of red fell onto the newspaper, followed quickly by another and another. He used his hand to wipe it away and looked up to the Slytherin, feeling the pain now that the boy felt and in that moment didn't even think about how he was allowing his dhampir nature to show with the tears of blood.
"What the hell?" he asked, not really so much at Henry and perhaps at no one in particular, but maybe at God himself. "What the ABSOLUTE HELL?" Now he understood Henry's frustration - Henry's anger.

Henry didn't watch Simon grab the newspaper but he heard the crumple and rustle of the parchment. He knew he had it and now only leaveing time till he saw the article. Till he felt the same pain.
Loki kept his head on Henry's knees, softly clawinf his jeans as a distraction. Wanting to help his onwer. Distract him from his emotions and the situation as usual... only thing is that the lad couldn't be distraction. Not this time. His emotions ran too deep. His anxiety surged to high.
The teen grabbed the collar of his shirt, tighten his grip on it as he gitted his teeth. Wanting to scream. To shout. Head liftimg up a bit, eyes peering out. Out at the rippling blue of the water. The teen took deep breaths, keeping tears in but letting grief flow.
Simon's words. They summed up the situation perfectly. Listening to him shout then twice knowing well that the second year read the article. That he knew. That he felt paim and grief as well, wanting to helo rhe hufflepuff through it but finding it haed to control his own.
Struggling to move aside, allowing Simon to sit by the water's edge if he chooses to. The teen looked on, grip getting tighter on his collaer shirt. Mouth dry and eyes swelling up with pain and fear. Even if it wasn't, the teen blamed himself for this happening. He started to belive that he truly is a monster, that anyone close to him only meets a horrifying end.
"What the hell indeed."
The words slipped out of his mouth. His voice low, a whisper and his accent more presenr than usual as he wanted to offer comfort to Simon. Wanted to hold him and tell him things will get better. But couldn't. How could he when he felt the same pain....

Attempting to comprehend the impossible with @Henry Knight
"No. No... This is - this is just...no," Simon shook his head and crossed his arms over each other across his chest, crumpling up the newspaper even more. "She uh - she was going to mend things, you know? She was going to mend things with her father. I - I just felt it. I felt that even though all that happened actually happened that somehow she would mend it and he'd be better, you know? He'd be better not just for himself but also for her and - and that's the way it's supposed to have gone. That's the way it needs to be. She needs time. She needs time so she can mend it and help him and they can be - a ...family." He was blabbering, stuttering, in such a manner that he normally didn't do but there was such a swarm of emotion.
Simon looked out to the Lake, not really feeling much like sitting down but his stomach was queasy now and he found himself kneeling down and trying to take some slow, steady, deep breaths. It was the sensation of somewhat being numb to it all and yet also feeling a rush of emotions all the same. It was a building sort of sensation, like water collecting within a reservoir damn just waiting for the flood gates to open.
"She needs more time so that..." he paused again, not really even knowing what he was going to say to finish the statement but knew it wasn't even worth finishing because unfortunately, she didn't have any more time. He wiped the wetness from his face, only to get blood upon his hand and he knew he probably looked something awful to Henry but that was the last worry on his mind right now.
Simon realized what he had said and now he turned to look over at the Slytherin and his cat. "She needed more time," he whispered. If he spoke any louder, his voice would have wavered.
There was some silence as he tried his best to keep his tears at bay or somehow grasp how he was supposed to handle this. He hadn't experienced the death of anyone so close to him since his mother and he was too young to comprehend that one. And even those that he knew, were older members from his church, and that was after a long and happy life - not at the far too young age of thirteen. "...We needed more time."

Simon rambled. His words hit Henry's ears and for once he wanted to scream at someone, tell him to shut his mouth. To be quiet. The teen remained silence, arms dropping to his sides. Fingers running over the blades of grass and bkue gaze set ahead. The rippling water. The reflection of the surface.
His mind wandering from focusing on Simon. Wandering to Alexa, to blaming himself. To blaming himself for her death. For her end. The teen heard the little voice in his ear. Shouting. Confirming his very fears and worries that dwelled within him. The teen took a shaky breath, anxiety thundering over his head. Simon's words in his ear.
'Another one gone'
Blue eyes outlooking the rippling water. Tears hidden behind the gaze, not daring to fall...
'He's right, she did need more time'
The teen felt his chest tighten. His breathing quicken. Chest rising and lowering as his mind jumped from one situation to another.
'Maybe if she didn't know you then she would have more time'
His fingers gripped the ground. Grass blades sticking up between his fingers, the feeling od dirt underneath his fingernails.
'This is your fault'
His anxiety thundering over his head. Roaring like a storm out at sea and Henry like a lone ship. Waiting for the down pour to occur with no where to go or nothing that he can do.
'You are a monster'
The voice within his ear shouting. Booming in his ear. The teen felt his chest quiver a little but he didn't resist the voice. Letting the voice continue on, continue telling him his fears and worries.
'A Monster that only harms thise close to you'
The teen felt his eyes rip away from the water, gazeing over Simon. The words from him. Stating that they didn't have enough time. The hufflepuff is younger than him. A part of the third year wanting to comfort Simon, offer him a hand or shoulder. His body felt frozen through. Unable to move. His mind feot overwhelmed, overwhelmed from the pain.
'Leave. Leave before Simon faces harm to because of you'
The teen teared his eyes away from Simon. Gazing out at the water. Believing his inner voice, his fears and worries- his pain. The teen felt himself attempt to push up, to stand and get to his feet. He couldn't. His energy drained from the pain and overwhelming saddness that occuered over him.
"She should still be here. She should be here with you, on the dueling team. Happy and smiling."
Henry's voice came slipping out. Higher than usual in a low whisper almost like puberty didn't exist. The teen grasped the ground in his hands, wanting to weep. To cry. To mourn. His body not letting him. His mind not allowing him to....
"If she didn't know then she would be... this is my fault, everyone near me is destined for harm."
The teen looked over a bit at the hufflepuff. A year younger than Alexa. Not wanting him to get hurt or blame himself for the death if Alexa.
"Why do others say that dead are still with us, they aren't and the pain..."

Finding a bit of a calm as he stands there with @Henry Knight
Simon listened as Henry mentioned something about it being his fault, that those close to him faced harm. It sounded like he should probably go talk to his Head of House or another trusted Hogwarts' professor because these were bigger issues at hand - at least bigger than a Second Year of Hufflepuff could tackle.
"Those that leave us are with us," he said, taking a moment to let that seep in. He believed it, and he had enough members of his Church congregation pass on to be able to relate some of it too - some more personally the others, and some through others and the closeness they felt for that beloved family member or friend. He took a moment, letting the breeze gently brush against his face and just feel more grounded with the Earth, more grounded with God.
"I'll never forget her smile. It was so bright, that even on my darkest days she brightened it. I won't forget her laugh. She had this way of always making anything better and you know what? I'm going to try and strive to keep that going for her."
"They don't leave us because not only are they alive in our memory, but also they live within us. And someone like Alexa is in heaven right now and we can talk to her. We might not always comprehend the answers and messages in return, but the'll be there. She wouldn't ignore us."
Simon no longer had the tears and maybe the Slytherin with him wasn't feeling better about the situation, but he was. "You want to walk back to the castle with me?" Simon offered. Maybe Henry wanted some alone time though to process all of this. Simon wanted some alone time too, but where he had his Bible in his hands. That way, any answers that might come up - the Lord could help him through.
If not wanting to walk back with him, this is where Simon will leave the thread.

Henry wanted to scream. To break something. To release the emotions bottled within him but in the end- in the end he didn't. He sat there. Fingers digging into the ground, dirt getting underneath which the sensation reminded him of Alexa. Of her love for animals. Of her love for her farm. The teen could smile by only the thought of her before his mind reminded him that he'll never see again. Never hesr her laugh ir see her smile. Never feel her presence or touch again. Never be by her side again. Henry felt like Alexa is so far yet so close...
Simon spoke. The third year is doubting those words after having lost a few. Family, friend, and other that he cares for. Henry heard the second year's words before repeated in different ways from different people but he never quite understood. Always question and doubted the facts of the words.
Henry felt his hands tremble in his grasp, letting go of the grass as his gazed leveled for the water of the lake. Ears listening to Simon's words.
Henry nodded toward his words. Agreeing with some and questioning others. The teen haven't lived in a religious household or one that went to crunch during the holidays even. He didn't feel comfort to know Alexa lived in his memory or is in heaven, the teen remembered all those restless nights. The panic attacks he suffered through. In each moment he looked out, asking his mum for help and never did she answer. Never did she help and instead he remained alone.
The teen pushed hard aginest the ground, standing on his feet. Loki looked up, rubbed aginest his onwer's legs and wanting to helo the lad. Henry moved his gaze from the water toward Simom as he spoke"if anyone should then we should be the ones to keep Alexa's memory alive," his voice cracking as he reached down. Picking up Loki then standing once more. Holding bis feline in his arms for comfort.
Nodding toward Simon's words. Walking sounded good. Still broken and anxiety raging. Henry turned and walked back to the castle, shoulder and shoulder with Simon. Remembering the past and taking fearful steps for the future.
Henry and Loki left the thread
