Henry told her that he had no idea what he wanted to do tomorrow. Rose smiled a small smile. If she wasn't so tired, she might have struck up some sarcastic banter and teasing between the two, but she honestly just wanted to go to bed now. She didn't want to bother him if he was tired, either. She had some vague ideas of what they could do, but maybe he was right. They could cross tomorrow's bridges tomorrow.

As Henry made eye contact with her, she smiled a little, comfortingly. He then suggested that they go upstairs to eat and then worry about tomorrow tomorrow. "Good idea," she said. Rose played a couple last notes on the piano, with a tone that sounded like a piece had just finished, then closed the lid of the piano carefully, standing up. She would lead the way back upstairs, checking behind her to make sure Henry was following her.

They arrived at the top of the steps, and Rose crept through the entryway into the kitchen. On one hand, she didn't really want anybody but her and Henry to know about the piano room. First of all, because none of them knew how to play the piano and she did not want to hear them banging on the piano unceremoniously, or for Henry to try to explain how to play the piano while they banged on it, not really interested in how to actually play it. To be honest, she would think that Faith would be the only one of her siblings who would be willing to learn piano, and was too old to really want to bang on it or anything. Secondly, she kind of wanted to just keep it to her and her brother, a little secret place that they could hide away in.

On the other hand, was that selfish of her?

Rose shook those thoughts away. She could think about that tomorrow. Maybe she would let Henry choose whether to tell them or not, or maybe not lie to anyone, just keep it a little secret. If Henry wanted to tell anyone, she wasn't going to complain.

She came into the kitchen, seeing that Margerie was already in there, frying something together in a deep pan. Rose breathed in a deep breath through her nose- it smelled heavenly. She came up next to her great aunt, peering to see what it was. She had fried up a seven-people-worth pan of fried rice. It had rice and peas and corn and pork in there, something that Rose had eaten from her before. It wasn't the same as the fried rice she would get at an Asian-style restaurant (that stuff was good), but it was close enough that all of her siblings accepted it. Gabe was already in the kitchen, sitting at the table.

"What're you doing down here?" Rose asked him.

Gabe shrugged. "I was hungry."

Rose sat down next to Gabe, on his left. "Ever had fried rice before, Henry?" Rose asked him, swinging her legs. She missed the feel of Chaska laying on her feet under the table, waiting for treats and warming Rose's feet.

The basement was a bit cooler than the rest of the house. It strangely reminded the teen of his home back in England.

Henry knew that their home would be in Godric Hollow when they returned to Europe, he seen and moved into the home already a few nights ago. He wasn't sure if he should tell Rose and the others, he knew Rose always wanted to live in the village and thought the surprise might make her smile.

Happiness. Others felt it so easy while others have to try so hard to feel the emotion. Henry found it difficult to find happiness and smile most days, he could remind friends why to stay positive but he couldn't do it himself. When one has a mind full of negatively and anxiety and darkness, it can be hard to find the light sometimes.

Softly smiling and nodding a little at Rose's last few notes, the rest of his emotions remained hidden behind the 'barrier'. The teen decided to let Rose play the last few notes on the piano, he enjoyed playing the instrument but it also reminded him of another time. A time he rather not remember. A time where his father was never around but still had Henry and Annabeth learn instruments and other topics before they got to hogwarts.

Henry nodded toward Rose's words and helped her pull the lid over the piano and got off the bench after Rose, pushing the small bench closer to the piano. The teen looked at the instrument once more then followed the girl toward the stairs and up them toward the kitchen.

Henry wondered if the others heard them play or if spells were cast on the basement so the others rooms couldn't hear the noise. But if the others did hear them and asked them about it then would that mean they would have to tell the others about the room?

Henry didn't want to keep secrets but he didn't want the others to mess up the room and go down and bother them there. It was strange but the feeling that he shared a secret of that basement room felt comforting, felt pleasing to Henry that he shared the secret of the hidden basement with Rose. With his sister.

Henry followed her into the kitchen and was met with the smell of fried rice, mixed vegetables, and pork. It reminded the teen of the muggle chinese takeout that his siblings and him use to buy on holidays when their father was working.

Blue eyes landed on Gabe, a light smile on his face from the sight of the boy. Henry was starting to like Gabe and Rose above the others as he took a seat on Rose's other side at the table listening to both of their voices.

The teen thought of Rose's question for a moment before answeing" sort of, I had fried rice with chinese takeout a few years ago but never homemade," offering the red head a soft smile as he fell silent unsure what else to say.

Rose didn't want to leave the quiet privacy of the piano room. It just seemed to be a little pocket in space where there was quiet. Where there was peace. Nothing could come down there an ruin her life. Nobody could yell or make people uncomfortable or make her want to curl up with a pillow over her ears. It was just her and Henry. Even her own mind seemed to quiet down a bit in respect for the room. It seemed almost magical. It felt like you could just smell the magic, under everything else in the room. You could just stand in the room and hold onto the peace, like an anchor, keeping you down on the earth. Safe in the piano room. Rose almost wanted to go back down there, curl up in a blanket, and just rest in the calm it seemed to offer.

The redhead nodded. "It's better when it's professionally made, but the way Margerie makes it is still good," she explained. Rose couldn't remember the last time they had all gone out for Chinese food. Rose had always gotten the pork fried rice. The way Margerie made it wasn't up to the standards of how the restaurant owners made it, but it was close enough to make it a comfort food.

Margerie began splitting up the fried rice into eight bowls, large enough to make a meal for each of them. She said, "Yes, I had a friend who taught me. I still don't think I get it quite as right as her, but she says that it's not bad."

Gabe shrugged his shoulders. "I don't think it's that bad, either."

"I don't know if that counts," Rose teased him. "You're practically a goat- you'll eat anything."

Gabe elbowed her playfully, not actually hurting her. They both smiled.

"Will you call up the stairs, Gabe?" Margerie asked her nephew. "Dinner's ready."

Gabe obliged, standing up and going to the bottom of the stairs. "Y'ALL! DINNER'S READY!" he yelled. He then went to go retake his seat next to Rose casually.

There was a telltale thundering as the rest of the kids came down the stairs. "They always sound like elephants, don't they?" Rose murmured, to nobody in particular.

Faith narrowed her eyes at Gabe. "You don't live in the South," she said jokingly. "You don't get to say 'y'all.'"

"I get to say whatever I want!" Gabe retorted, and mumured a thank you as Margerie passed him, Rose, and Henry each a bowl of fried rice with a spoon in it, and sat down next to Gabe. "Henry's the only one who doesn't get to say 'y'all,'" Gabe teased, glancing at his step brother. "He has a fancy schmancy accent so he doesn't stoop so low to such grammar." Gabe said, the back of his hand coming up to his forehead dramatically.

That place felt strange. There is a odd sensation about the place that the lad couldn't set his finger on. The idea of being in American, in a beach house that belongs to his step siblings family. Having a step family. It is all odd to him... strange....

Henry usually could work out problems and find the answer but in this problem, his mind was still circling and searching for a answer. Pounding within his head, his mind rattled around with his anxiety looming over him like a strom. This and his emotions remained hidden from behind the 'barrier'.

His mind raged on but the lad wasn't about to let the others know as he looked over at Rose, nodding toward her words as he softly replied" homemade is always suppose to be better than takeout, I'm sure it's brilliant, " Offering the red head a softly smile as he turned his attention back toward the adult, his mind reeled on as he looked at Rose whoes besides him.

Turning his eyes back toward the adult, listening to her words before a small conversation started up. Henry stayed silent, occupied by his thoughts as he fiddled with his fingers and listening to the others. Henry wasn't paying much attention to them until Gabe yelled upstairs toward the others about dinner, looking over his shoulder for a moment before forward again.

Lightly nodding toward Rose's comments as he hummed softly to himself the medley of a song he listened to on the cassette with his parents and uncle recorded voices. Faith and Gabe started a playful argument, Henry wasn't paying them much attention when Margerie handed Gabe, Rose, and him a bowl of fried rice.

Henry would softly smile toward her as he spoke " thank you," taking the spoon and slowly stirring the rice as his blue gaze looked down it, his mind occupied with thoughts and words and situations.

Lost in thought, the lad stirred the rice in the bowl slowly as his blue gaze looked upon it. There's conversation around him and he is listening but not really engaging, the teen wasn't in the mood as thoughts swirled around and that familiar little voice whispered in his mind's ear.

The teen felt the side of the bowl with his knuckles, feeling the heat the teen decided to wait a few minutes for the fried rice to cool off before he started eating as he stirred the rice started to miss having his feline accompany by his side. There wasn't anyone to stratch between the ears or distract him in awkward situations. The two were opposites but a pair, Henry missed his feline now miles away.

Bringing his head up and resting his gaze on Gabe who mentioned him, the teen hid his emotions behind the 'barrier'. Nothing could be seen on his face besides a small and soft smile as he listened to Gabe's words and playfulness, the lad would have performed to be forgotten and not brought into this conversation as he took a breath and calmly spoke in french,
"is this the fancy accent that your talking about?" Softly smiling as he waited a moment before continuing " it seems I can say whatever I please as well and you won't know.

Henry softly toward Gabe as he took a moment before speaking " that was french, I didn't say anything bad and could teach you if you like." before leaning back into his seat and offering Rose a soft smile.

Rose shrugged. The hard truth was that though Margerie was a very good baker, she was a pretty average cook. She just didn't have the magic touch that some cooks had to make it look pretty and give it that extra step of taste. It wasn't like anything she cooked was bad- it was good! But it just wasn't spectacular. And Rose was okay with that.

There was something just so refreshing about somebody doing something average. Rose found it interesting. All her life, she had been a perfectionist, trying to be perfect in everything she did. But what if it was okay if she was just average? What if it was okay if she wasn't perfect all the time? What if it was okay if her voice was just average and not amazingly showstopping? The thought paralyzed Rose for a moment, as she stared at her food.

No. No. If she was going to do something, she wanted to do it well. She wanted to do it perfectly. She wanted it to have no fault in it, no blame, no little areas that could be critiqued. It wasn't enough for it to just be average, right? Margerie was good at so many things- designing, baking, socializing, hosting parties, the list went on! Since she was good at so many things, she was allowed to have something she was average at. Rose wasn't that good at that many things at all. Maybe spell-casting, if she was letting herself think good of herself that day. She couldn't just be average, right?

Right?

Rose shook the thoughts away, and looked up to see Margerie looking at her curiously. Rose had a sinking feeling that Margerie had known that her thoughts had strayed into anxious feelings. She almost thought that Margerie would ask her if she was okay, but the woman didn't, turning her gaze away from Rose. Rose looked back down, taking a bite of the fried rice.

Gabe laughed quietly as Henry spoke French. "Noooo," he said, smiling. The way he reacted was almost like a little kid's- he found it very funny. "That's a completely different language. But quite fancy, too."

Faith shook her finger playfully at Henry. "You better not have said anything bad."

"Yeah," Gabe agreed, mocking Faith and shaking his finger, scrunching his face up. "You'd better not." His eyes lit up. "Do you know any French cuss words?"

"That's where your mind goes, Gabey?" Rose rolled her eyes.

Gabe looked defensive. "It was just a question!"

Henry took a bite of the fried rice, it was small and the teen didn’t take much time to taste or dwell on the food. Henry never really cared for food that much, it's essential to survive and one can be in a certain amount of pain if their lacking food. Henry knew those points and others but he never has been obssive with it, never had a favorite type or wondered what was going to be for the next meal. Usually ended up skipping meals to feed his mind, increase his knowledge.

The mind and knowledge is one thing that is very important to Henry. The teen has experienced change quite frequently throughout his life, some good and some bad. He often deals with anxiety and learning how to live with a monster or the wolf side of him. Still learning how to handle his condition most days so over the years Henry learned that his mind is on item that he can control. He can control his knowledge, expand it to his own liking and learn as much as he liked no matter who he wss or what was going on.

As the others chatted away, Henry stirred the plate of rice with his fork thinking of differnt topics. Finding himself lost in his mind, asking questions and looking for answers. Dwelling on past memories, past classes, and summer assignments that still needed to be completed.

Henry watched the rice on his plate, still it laid until his fork pushed them. Knocking them from thier place. Dismantling thier position and creating a new one. One not familiar to the rice and other pieces within the meal.

Dismantled. Henry felt like his life had been gaken apart and forced into new puzzles his entire life, he never had a moment of normal. Never felt a feeling comfort. Change has been a ever long battle with the lad. Being so fsr from his elder brother, Henry missed him but from his yesrs before hogwarts he grew to have a independence. One that is mature beyond his age and a sense that he doesn't need anyone, even if he wants somone.... he doesn't any them so that way they can't gey hurt because of him.

Being pulled into the conversation was strange to the lad, looking up from his plate and turning his head slightly to meet Gabe's eyes as the young boy spoke.

Henry momentarily forgot that Gabe was a few years younger so the childlike expression he doned was natural for the boy, Henry offered a playfully smile in return to Gabe as he spoke"would you perfer if I spoke another language? Choose your favorite then," the teen learned a few before hogwarts and even during his years at the school but didn't have plently of opportunities to speak each one so he took the chance when he could.

The oldest blonde; Faith who was starting to be Henry's least favorite spoke. He moved his eyes toward her, lightly string his fried rice as Gabe mocked the girl causing a small laugh from Henry before a soft smile replaced it. All other emtioms hiding behind the 'barrier'.

Henry looked at the eldesy blonde, blue eyes examining her as he softly smiled takimg a breath then he spoke"you threat isn't that worrisome, Faithy but then again you aren't really a threatening person," the teen didn't see any reason to repect the girl like he did his elder brother, they weren't technically related and she got on the lad's nerves a little as he playfully nudged Rose's shoulder with his when he heard her words. Turning to lool at Gabe as he spoke"I'll tell you a few later but don't use them in strangers, onlt family and maybe friends alright," playfully smiling at Gabe to show that he was joking about where to use the words not about teaching him a few. He would esxcept Henry would teach the young bot the language and not just the cuss words.

Rose smiled at Henry's offer for Gabe to pick his favorite. Gabe would probably pick a language that Henry did actually know, though he didn't know that yet. Henry knew like five whole languages and it was really impressive. Maybe six. Rose couldn't remember. He had told her about them when they had sat together at the wedding, after the ceremony. He had listed them off as easy as telling her his name.

He laughed a little. "I'd rather you speak English, so I can understand you." Gabe was obviously enjoying himself. But when Henry invited him to pick his favorite, Gabe paused, stroking his invisible beard. "Hmmmmmmmm," he said. "Hmmmmmmmmmmmm." He took a moment to think about this very important decision. It was obvious he was trying to pick a language that he didn't think Henry would know. "Do you know Russian?"

Little did Gabe know, that Henry did know Russian.

At Henry's comment to Faith, Rose laughed. Honestly? Henry was right. Faith wasn't a very threatening person. She wasn't strong, and she wasn't allowed to use magic outside of Hogwarts, either. If Rose wanted, she could shatter her spirit with a sentence. But she didn't want to. Faith gave him a dirty look, though behind it you could see she didn't really take it as an insult, and the look wasn't serious. "Wowwww, okay," she said in a sarcastic tone, rolling her eyes at the three.

She smiled as Henry nudged her. Henry playfully prompted Gabe to not use the words with strangers, however, and Gabe pouted a little. "What if they're really annoying and I'm in class and I don't want the professor to hear me saying the actual word but I still want to have the satisfaction of calling them a-" he paused, looking up to see Margerie sitting across from him. "-a... a bad person."

Most adults would have given Gabe a stern look, but Margerie shook her head and rolled her eyes, a small laugh coming from her. "I feel like, as a responsible adult, I should interject and say no." She paused, then cracked a smile. "But honestly, it's really fun to do that."

Gabe put a hand over his chest. "Margerie Bernthold!" he exclaimed dramatically, his voice rising a surprising octave. "You've insulted people in another language?!"

She grinned sheepishly. "Oh, especially when I was younger."

His eyebrows raised more, which Rose didn't know was possible. "Especially?! You mean you still do it now?!" He looked like he was about to fake-faint.

"I took German when I was little with my brother, and still am fluent. It's fun sometimes to... you know, have a little secret to yourself and insult somebody that really annoys you, without them knowing."

Jessica grinned and said, "I'm telling Mom you did that." It was clear the small girl was joking, but Margerie's eyes still widened playfully.

She shook her head. "Noooooooo, you'd better not tell your mother."

Rose smiled. This had helped her relax a little bit. She was very glad that Margerie was here instead of their parents. Their parents were boring, but Margerie was a character indeed.

"Have you ever done that, Henry?" Gabe turned on his step-brother.

Henry stirred the fried rice with his fork, taking a small bite. Henry wasn't sure he liked thr conversation during the meal, he was use to silence when he ate during thr summer holiday or books. The teen preferred the idea, reading while he ate and wished that he had one of his books there at the table with him. It would be less awkward to resd than listen to the conversation that circled around which Henry found it strange how the group could continue talking no matter the topic.

Fading out, Henry heard Gabe's voice but didn't respond. Focusing his mind elsewhere as the teen took a breath, remembering past summer holidays. The quiet that they came with. The opportunities they held to learn. A part of the teen missed those days, it was strange. At the time he dreaded them but now he kinda missed them... strange indeed.

Head turned, blinking toward Gabe's words as he took a moment. Thinking on thr language and what to say before he spoke"russian? Strange choice but here you are," taking a pause, the teen is a quarter or so russian on his father's so it only made sense that he knew the language, offering the young boy a smile as he spoke"that is russian, I'm part russian so," choosing to stop his words there as he looked back at the plate in front of him. Mind adrift.

Not paying much attention to Faith's comment but smiling toward Rose's laugh, making eye contact with her fir a moment before looking away at Gabe's voice. He really doesn't stop talking, does he? The thought circling Henry's mind as he turned to Gabe who continued on the topic of languages and insulting others in secret.

"You don't know what languages the professors or other students know so they might know that your insulting them if you say during class," Henry explained to Gabe not expecting the adult to speak. Henry didn't pay her much attention, looking back at his plate as he question why she was there. The rising third year originally thought that Margerie would be in her room or off doing somewhere else not with them, Heney found her a tad annoying and obnoxious. Henry found it self involved and needy of her for butting into their conversation and wished that she would leave them.

Gabe and the adult held the conversation, Henry stayed quiet for the most part as he stirred his plate wondering how he could leave the scene. Go back to his room and read for the rest of the night. That sounded lile bliss, perfection to the teen when he caught Margerie words about knowing German. A language that Henry didn't know and actually didn't have a longing to learn, the teen read on the muggle and wizarding history of Germany. It was disturbing and Henry decided that he didn't want to be a part of that sort of history.

The adult and Jess next words caused Henry to cover his ears for a moment, their loudness was something that the teen is uncomfortable with. Not sure why anyone would want to be so loud, isn't quiet better? Listening over talking is usually what the introvert fonded toward even if occasionally he put on a extrovert mask and enjoyed talking with others.

Henry looked over at Gabe, listening to his words. As he thought for a moment, the teen never really used any language aginest anyone or in a bad way as he spoke"no, I don't use languages to insult others but I speak Arabic when I want others to not know what I'm saying." The teen darted his eyes toward thr stairs before back at thr group, wondering how he would disappear to his shared room to read.

Gabe looked very surprised when Henry actually did speak Russian. Rose knew this could go on for hours, Gabe asking about a language and Henry knowing it. His eyes lit up. "Wicked." He looked impressed when Henry said he was part Russian. "You're full of surprises, Henry Knight. I wonder if you're the heir of some exotic throne or something."

Rose didn't know that about Henry- that he was Russian. If she was being honest, Henry was a fairly secretive person. She had been either very lucky or especially trustworthy, even in Henry's terms, to learn as much as she had. He was a werewolf and he was looking for Annabeth and the Knights, and he really liked Alexa. They were technically dating, though they didn't like labels. That was about the extent of secrets that Rose knew, though that was probably a lot in terms of what Henry told people. He was quite secretive.

Rose began taking bites of her fried rice, knowing she wouldn't be able to leave until she finished her bowl.

Gabe huffed. "I guess you're right. I'd have to take it easy with professors, though I wouldn't mind a student knowing that I'm calling them-" he gave another comedic glance toward Margerie, who grinned and chuckled softly. "- a- a bad person."

Though Gabe and Jessica were most certainly very loud people, but Margerie spoke a little more like Rose. While not as quiet as Rose, she was definitely a tiny hint quieter than the average person in casual conversation, and she was definitely quieter than her other great-nieces and great-nephews. She grew up being told to keep her head down and shut up, and Rose always thought that must have imprinted on her, in more ways than one.

She saw Henry cover his ears due to Gabe and Jess' volume and Rose winced a little. She had forgotten that Henry wasn't accustomed to her siblings' loudness like Rose was. Sometimes it got too much for Rose, but she had built up much more stamina for dealing with them than Henry.

Arabic- how exotic! Rose's interest rose. She supposed there weren't many people at all that knew Arabic at Hogwarts. Her and Henry could speak Arabic all the time and nobody would have a clue what they were talking about. "That's very sneaky of you, Henry," Gabe said. Rose rolled her eyes, unable to fight back a small smile.

Rose was getting close to finishing her bowl of fried rice. She really did want to just go to sleep. She was tired. Not just tired physically, but she was tired of all of this. Loud people. Airplanes. Her parents not caring. She was just tired.

Gabe is the loudest, no doubt. Keeping the conversation going as the others followed along. Henry merely nodded toward his remarks choosing silence and listening as his bkue gaze kept on his bowl still half of thr fried rice laid within it.

The teen usually never ate a lot, recently when in the presence of meat it causes him to gag or obtain a sort of nauseam. Which both reactions are odd since he is a werewolf and one of the side effects is a love of meat, particularly rare types of mest but for Henry it is the opposite.

String but not eating the teen listened to the conversation continue. It has been a long day and with the sudden time change was feeling rather tired at the moment. Rising from his seat, the teen picked up his bowl and fork walking behind the counter to the kitchen sink.

Emptying the rest of the food back inside the pan, it was a habit for the lad to save leftovers after a meal. Then washing out the bowl and fork, settung them besides the sink to dry.

The teen walked from behind the counter, not going back to his seat as he spoke"long day with the timr change, I'm off to bed," emtions and tiredness hidden behind the 'barrier'. The teen didn't wait for another word and left the room, heading upstairs towards the room where he would be staying with Rose.

Opening the door then shuting it, the teen walked through the room toward his bed. Picking up the journal he left there, flipping to a page where the necklace laid. The teen took the neclkace out, holding it in his hands as he closed the journal and set it back down.

Walking toward the door, Henry opened it. A strong breath of ocean salt tingled his nose, strining a little. The teen suffered through a breath trying to stay calm, the strining reminded him of the dungeons last year and the gas. Taking a breath. The teen felt scents flow into his nostrils. Seaweed. Alegre. Feathers. Sea salt.

Carefully kneeling down, the teen sat in the ground. Criss-crossing his legs. His eyes gazed on the necklace, taking his pendent in his other hand, resting it on his neck. The teen squeezed the necklace tight for a moment and closed his eyes. Memories and the onrs he cares for all a ocean away. Where he has to be a ocean away.

Relaxing his grip, taking his hand off the pendant. The teen held the necklace in both hands, loosely. Gaze darted from thr small gold symbol to the night sky. The sky. The stars shown bright, not as bright as they shine in godric hollow or liverpool or hogwarts in the lad's opinion though but he hoped that it was the same that Anna would see.

"Hey, it's your twin. Henry. "

The teen heard himself whisper already knowing that his twin sister couldn't hear the words but it brought him comfort to do it. Reminded him that she is still at there. Somewhere.

"It has been different here without you and I miss you. And our banters and fights. Your pranks and remarks and confidence. I miss us."

Eyes flickering toward the doors after he whispered. Ensuring no onr was coming or there. Sniffing for a moment. Nothing. Then the teen looked back at the night sky.

"Father married Pearl. I'm in american with the mates while their on a honeymoon. You would know what to do right now. I wish you were here."

The teen felt the chill of the metal of the necklace on his touch. Getting up, reaching for the knob but not closing the door yet. Eyes on the sky. The stars.

"Talk tomorrow again. Same time, Anna."

The teen pulled the door shut and would never know that a girl with blue eyes and chopped off brown hair was doing the same. Talking to the sky. Talking to her twin brother. The twins would never know that either did, that either discussed their hardships and worried with each other to the night sky. That they both were still thinking and missing each other.

Henry walked back toward his bed, setting thr necklace back inside the pages of his journal. The teen took the journal and kneeled down besides his bed side farest from the door, pulling his backpack near him and opening it. The teen slipped the journal inside then his eyes caught the fox toy.

His childhood came rushing back. On in a single toy. The teen smiled for a moment. Then zipped up the bag and pushed it back under his bed, getting to his feet. The teen crawl into bed jnder the covers, sleeping on his side facing the wall. The teen took a breath, he was tired but afaird to fall asleep. Afaird of the night terrors. One sleep then another day.... how hard can that be.
