Waiting to meet up with @Lizzy Solace to get to work! New Day!
Simon thought it was really great and the two sat down to script out some ideas. He wrote them all down as they discussed. He would have his Aunt Maggie, who worked in a bookstore in London, track down an old copy of The Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. By old copy, it would be worn out, one that Mrs. Higgens wouldn't mind that they used a literary wonder for art. His Aunt Maggie had connections to lots of other bookstores and he knew she'd be able to find it.
They then discussed how they would fold it. They could try to attempt something like saying MERRY CHRISTMAS or more aligned with the book itself and say BAH HUMBUG. He would have Aunt Maggie send them a book on that as well because neither of them were really experienced with the art of book folding.
Then they departed, with the goal of returning once the books came in to get to work. It only took his aunt a couple of days before his request was filled and delivered via owl that morning. He quickly wrote a note to Lizzy and made sure a fellow Gryffindor got it to her. They were to meet once again in the Library, and the same spot where they came up with the idea.
When Lizzy would return, he would have it all laid out there. The Christmas Carol copy that they would use, and the other book with a bookmarked spot. He was eager to get started, and hoped that Lizzy was on board with his new plan. It wasn't much different than their original, but certainly would be easier for two beginners.

The few days ago seemed like a blur to Lizzy. First reuniting with Simon, a friend she thought lost, and then agreeing to work on a holiday project for their old librarian Mrs. Higgens together. It was like a dream, one that Lizzy did not want to wake up from. As she got ready on the fifth floor in Gryffindor Tower, she couldn't help but wonder if it had all been a dream and if she was going to meet a ghost of the dream that lingered. It couldn't be though, because a Gryffindor had delivered a note from Simon that morning, asking her to meet back up with him in the same spot their little reunion had taken place.
Exactly fifteen minutes later, Lizzy ended up down in the library. She anxiously scanned the tables for Simon's familiar features. She quickly was able to spot him sitting in the exact same spot, as promised. He had with him a copy of A Christmas Carol and another book. Another his Aunt Maggie must have sent, most likely the one containing the instructions on the art of book folding.
They had spent much of the few days ago planning on the project. The two had wanted it to be perfect for the beloved librarian. Lizzy especially liked Simon's idea of BAH HUMBUG, as it went well with the story and it would be kind of funny to see Mrs. Higgins face when it was presented to her.
Lizzy sat down beside him with a soft smile. "You ready to fold a masterpiece?" she joked. Glancing over the materials to make sure they had everything, Lizzy felt excited at their plan. Sure they were just beginners at this, but it was going to be one heck of a good time doing it.

Decisions with @Lizzy Solace
"Yes, actually," he moved some papers aside. Some over here, some over there, as he sorted through them piece by piece trying to find a particular one. "There's one idea in here that I think would be more achievable..." and he kept going, piece by piece. "Here we go," he said, placing the rest of the papers down and pulling one closer to Lizzy so she could see it.

"What do you think? This way we not only have to fold all the pages of the book, but we only have to do the middle. I'm not the BEST at art, but if we can get a good outline done of the silhouettes, then I think we might be able to achieve something close to this." He smiled as he watched Lizzy intently for her reaction, hoping she would love this idea as much as he did.
"We could make it easier a little bit more, too, if we don't want to go this route. We could make the Christmas tree in the middle with the book lying open just like this, but then instead of decorating the sides of the pages, we could decorate the tree itself that we created. We could put a little star on the top and some garland, maybe a couple shiny things for ornaments. What are your thoughts?"

She watched as Simon sorted through the papers with interest. Lizzy had been looking forward to finally starting on their idea. Working on a project with him again would be just like old times. It may have been silly to think so nostalgically, but truthfully, she had longed for times like this again after he had left for Hogwarts. Now, they finally had the chance to do something together again.
Simon finally found the thing he was looking for and showed it to her. "Achievable and it looks quite amazing! Let's do it!" she said energetically. "I'm not the best artist either, but this looks simple enough that we both will be able to do it well enough," she expressed with a smile.
"I think decorating the tree itself sounds like a great idea too! I have a few beads and things back in my dormitory that would work as ornaments. The holiday break is almost here though. We should probably get started soon if we want to finish this before then." Lizzy got out of her chair. "I'll go grab the beads and then we can get started, okay?"
With that, she ran from the ground floor up to the fifth floor to retrieve the beads, which were in a tin under her bed. When she got back, she sat back down, out of breath from the run up five floors and then back down five floors. "Ready?"

Present making with @Lizzy Solace
Getting everything together was the difficult part. Okay, well it wasn't so much difficult as it was time consuming as they had to go from one place to the other to retrieve all the bits and pieces that they would need to complete their project.
The first thing they had to do was figure out which page to open it to. Sure, somewhere in the middle because otherwise their project would be off balance and fall over, but also to a page that showed off the character names and perhaps had a nice quite that would be visible under the paintings they were going to put.
Then it was the folding. Scrunching up the paper and making it layer by later, slowly forming the Christmas tree. When that was done, they would do their painting, one on each side of the victorian era people. It helped that they were a silhouette but Simon was quite sure they did a pretty awesome job. That had to dry and so the two laid out what they'd use to decorate the tree while they waited.
Then they placed those embellishments on, gluing them one by one carefully. It looked rather amazing and Simon held his glue covered hand at the end. "High five, Solace. I think we did it! Mrs. Higgens is going to love it."
Once it was dry he would take it back to his dormitory to back for the Winter Break where the two would meet at the library in London and give it to their favorite librarian.
[Shall we deem this thread closed and maybe, just maybe, you can start us off with the thread over the break where they give their gift???]
