Her eyes were scattered over the place as she walked in the owlery, slightly out of breath. These flights of stairs were impossible to deal with and she hoped that in the near future, something would be invented to avail the students. She dusted her robes, observing the owls all around her. Probably a hundred or so we're on small branches or on window sills, making adorable noises, communicating with each other. She had come to check if her mother had answered her previous letter.

Walking to her assigned owl, she patted a couple, sweetly rubbing their dusty feathers. They were magnificent animals, blessed with incredible brains and sense of directions. No wonder they were the first and most used way of communication for wizards, albeit phones would have been quite handy. She would have to work on that in the future, technology and magic. It would possibly create wonders amongst muggle-horns or raised.

Her assigned owl, Patsey, had no letter to deliver. The young girl felt an ounce of disappointment pass through her body but she cheered up rapidly, knowing that coming her was not for nothing. Hopefully she would meet someone, or something magnificent would happen. Things weren't that exciting at Hogwarts anymore.

It'd been a strange few weeks for Cyrus. Despite what he'd thought when he finally left home he hadn't actually gotten to know anyone just yet. Sure, he'd spoken to a few students in his house but aside from that he hadn't gotten to know anyone and he couldn't even come up with the excuse that he'd been trying to. He hadn't realized it until quite recently but he was... nervous. He wasn't sure he knew how to talk people in a place like this. What did kids his age normally talk about? Probably not the usual dry conversations or pedigree flexing he was use to from the events his parents had taken him to in the past.

This was all weighing heavily on his mind as he brought a letter up to the owlery. His parents had been very clear that they wanted to hear from him every few weeks and he wasn't about to disappoint them. As hard as they could be on him he knew they really did care. It was a short message, not even covering half the parchment but it assured them he was doing well so far.

When he actually got to the owlery he stopped, half peeking through the doorway when he realized something a lot bigger than an owl was inside. A student. A girl. He didn't recognize her face, not that he'd learned too many of those just yet, but he could tell from some of her flair that she wasn't Slytherin. When he'd arrived he didn't think much of the segregation between houses but what little he'd heard from his fellow House mates make it clear that most of them only planned on showing loyalty to their own house, stick to them and theirs. It seemed odd to Cyrus though. They were all class mates, regardless of house. Outside of the House Cup and Quidditch teams what was there to bicker over? Thinking about it was still enough to cause him to pause.

He glanced around. Not another soul in sight. Just the two of them. It was probably the first time he'd been around another student without a small crowd accompanying them. This was the best chance he could see of actually getting to know someone.

Quickly the young wizard slipped inside the tower room, immediately crinkling his nose as he got a nose full of the smell of owls. He quickly tried to adjust, putting on a smile before clearing his throat.

"Hi there," he said from across the room, his Irish accent thick in his voice.

Her heart skiped a beat when she heard someone's voice. She turned around, eyes wide open to find a young dark haired boy. He had a wide smile on his face and he seemed welcoming. She mentally screamed at herself for being so paranoid. Her sweet lips curved into a small smile and she observed the puerile boy further. He had messy dark hair and grey eyes, just like hers. His smile was wide but she could perceive some kind of nervousness in his movements.

Her hand waved and she took a few steps towards him. "Hello!". The smile on her face widened and her eyes glittered with joy. She knew that she would meet someone today, she had felt so. She fluttered over to the boy, her long legs making it in two second, now being less than a meter away from him. "My name is Peach, I'm a Hufflepuff."

She held her little hand out to him, gracefully. Her long fingers slightly curved to welcome his. All in her endeavoured to be as welcoming as possible as connections meant a lot. The young boy seemed to be standing straighter than most that she had seen. He reminded her in a way of Amelia when her parents were around in her mansion.

She seemed surprised by his appearance. To him it didn't seem like such a strange place to meet someone -- a lot of kids surely had mail to send -- but perhaps it was just the suddenness of it all. She recovered swiftly with grace, returning the smile with apparent confidence. She didn't wait long to step closer, brightly introducing herself and offering him her hand.

"Cyrus Moriarty, it's a pleasure to meet you." The words came out easily as they hopefully would. He'd long since lost count of how many times he'd said those exact eight words. However to the untrained ear it'd sound natural as could be. That was the point after all. It took a lot of work to make something look so easy.

He accepted her hand and gave it a respectful shake as he mulled over her own introduction. A bit strange that she'd offer her house but leave out her surname. Perhaps that's what is so special about a place like Hogwarts. He knew he still had a certain responsibility to keep his family's name clean but it seemed the actual students cared more about the reputation of their house than anything like that.

When he let go of her hand he widened his smile and told her, "Sorry if I startled you there."

Something in her tilted as she heard his last name. It seemed to her that she had already heard it or even read it somewhere but couldn't quite recover the rightful memory. She shook his hand softly, her smile shining upon her face. From his robes, she could see him to be a Slytherin. He was no where near similar to most students here at Hogwarts and she guessed him to be part of a popular family of high rank. The wizard world was split in lots of categories, similarly to the muggle world. Privilege was accorded to pure-bloods of high rank. Wizards with money obtained the most whereas the ones with the littlest amounts would get well...the littlest amount. Peach was in no position to complain: her family was privileged. Pure-blood from both sides, the Thorne legacy was to envy. They lived comfortably but not enough to consider themselves as higher ranks. Hard work had gotten them so far and the family devise was to work hard to get far.

Lost in her thoughts, her hand had stopped shaking his and she stood before him, motionless. Her vision recovered of its blurry moment and she apologised swiftly. " I'm sorry, thoughts carried me away. Your last name sounds beautiful and familiar to me... ". Her smile faded oh so slightly as she awaited an answer. Only if he wished to give it to her. Her father's last name was Rosier. As the young girl got older, thirst for knowledge about her father became greater and she began to research on him. What she found was disappointing. The Rosier family was closely related to the Black and Lestrange family. They were popular users of dark magic and death eaters. They had fought in the Wizarding wars, who knows on who's side.

Rosier means rose tree in French. It is also the name of a fallen angel who was considered the patron demon of tainted love and seduction. Her second last name held many prejudices and her mother prefered to not be associated with it, giving Peach the Thorne family as a legacy.
